5/6 Catholics favor religious diversity January 26, 2012

You can see what question is asked. It seemed reasonably clear to me, but the vast majority of Catholics apparently feel that religious pluralism is the ideal:
Much ado about nothing, or a telling sign of the formation Catholics have received over the last several decades? Why is it that in so many of these polls, Catholics seem less sure of their own religion, less willing to assert it as the best and only religion, and possess a tolerance bordering on indifference towards others? Is this the result of a conscious effort to weaken the faith of many, or just a product of the times? But if the latter, why do Catholics stand out more than protestant sects?
Is this the fruit of a runaway, wrong-headed ecumenism, that threw overboard over a millenia of Tradition in a desperate attempt to appeal to separated sects? It’s certainly disconcerting.

I have witnessed this many times as we try to say WHY a Catholic Vacation Bible School (VBS) is important instead of buing into the Protestant based VBS Programs with minimal Catholic companion materials. Why it is important to spiritually form our children at EVERY opportunity, even in a one week summer camp which can be a complete semester of PSR. With the sobering statistics from Catholic Dynamic saying of those who are confirmed today – 85% will leave the Catholic church and 70% of Catholics no longer attend Mass on a regular basis, shouldn’t we be supporting good solid Catholic teachings? Not only do we seem to be re-evangelizing to our faith formation leaders at our parishes, but we even have to do the same at the Diocese level when we ask them to help inform their DREs, Pastors, etc… that there are alternatives to the Protestant based VBS Programs offered in our parishes. Shouldn’e we be good stewards of our monies – they should be allocated for Catholic based programs – don’t we have the truths? Shouldn’t we teach the Bible from the Catholic perspective?
Visit http://www.growingwiththesaints.com and review their solid, FUN Catholic Kidz Camps as an alternative to those Protestant VBS Programs. While they enjoy music and crafts – they care deeply about content and evangelization – igniting a fire of faith in our chldren and families in a dynamic way!
