I’m out of time for today, so one final quick post. Pope Pius XI gives the classic, constant Catholic position on ecumenism. Do I even have to wonder how he would judge Taize?
And another picture of Giuseppe Sarto/Pope St. Pius X, because he’s so awesome:
Ah, what the heck, one more:

I understood ecumenism to mean that 1) we could join with other bodies to promote the social good and 2) we should learn enough about them to be able to intelligently discuss them, with a view to explaining why everyone should be a Catholic. Fortiter et Suaviter.
I must say that a good bit of my conversion was due to older books that made the doctrine of the True Church unappologetically clear.
Hear! Hear! For myself, ecumenism came in the form of a devoutly Catholic friend dropping off a basket of Scott Hahn books and tapes, one of them addressing the matter of contraception. One listen of the latter, due to its clarity, was all it took. I was immediately sold and became a more knowledgeable (and hopefully more faithful) Roman Catholic and lover of our Blessed Lord.
