Pray for Pope Benedict XVI April 12, 2010

One problem about not posting on the weekends is that I frequently miss things I should really discuss.  That is to say, I’m not timely.  But, praying a novena does not necessarily have to be tied to dates to be efficacious. The Knights of Columbus are encouraging everyone to pray a Novena for Pope Benedict XVI.  He certainly needs our prayers to defend against the vicious attacks being directed at him.  I’m not saying Pope Benedict has always covered himself in glory in relation to the abuse scandals, but he has done more than any other person I am aware of within the Church to a) stop the terrible abuse, and b) change the environment within the Church that lead to the abuse in the first place.  Seminarian Jansenists of the 40’s and 50’s, and ‘spirit of Vatican II’ types, I’m talking to you!

The Novena was supposed to start yesterday, on Divine Mercy Sunday, but I have a life and a family, so I didn’t post this until today.  I am certain that if you start the Novena today, your prayers will still be as powerful as if you had started yesterday.
