Bad news abound, but no matter February 1, 2011

I’ve heard lots of bad news lately. It looks more and more like the allegations against Fr. Euteneuer are going to be substantiated and his career as a priest is over (I should have said, public priest – Fr. Euteneuer now refutes most all of the allegations, while admitting to one violation of chastity with an adult woman. Why this would have necessitated the blocking of further publication of this books is still a question).  On top of that, Sunday, I heard from a completely reliable source some shocking statistics about the priests in another diocese in Texas – that over half are active homosexuals, and over half the seminarians are the same.  The main seminary for the diocese was described as just a charnal house of debauchery.  So, lots of bad stuff going on (but also good – a judge declared all of Obamacare unconstitutional, so, YAY!).

But, no worries.  The Church will always suffer from heretics, from those who want to reduce the Mystical Body of Christ to a gladhanding club or vehicle for social change (or, a refuge for those who can’t get on anywhere else).  Three thousand years ago, the Psalmist recorded this (Psalm 82, Douay Reims):

Deus, quis similis. A prayer against the enemies of God’s church.

[1] A canticle of a psalm for Asaph. [2] O God, who shall be like to thee? hold not thy peace, neither be thou still, O God. [3] For lo, thy enemies have made a noise: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head. [4] They have taken a malicious counsel against thy people, and have consulted against thy saints. [5] They have said: Come and let us destroy them, so that they be not a nation: and let the name of Israel be remembered no more.

[6] For they have contrived with one consent: they have made a covenant together against thee, [7] The tabernacles of the Edomites, and the Ismahelites: Moab, and the Agarens, [8] Gebal, and Ammon and Amalec: the Philistines, with the inhabitants of Tyre. [9] Yea, and the Assyrian also is joined with them: they are come to the aid of the sons of Lot. [10] Do to them as thou didst to Madian and to Sisara: as to Jabin at the brook of Cisson.

[11] Who perished at Endor: and became as dung for the earth. [12] Make their princes like Oreb, and Zeb, and Zebee, and Salmana. All their princes, [13] Who have said: Let us possess the sanctuary of God for an inheritance. [14] O my God, make them like a wheel; and as stubble before the wind. [15] As fire which burneth the wood: and as a flame burning mountains:

[16] So shalt thou pursue them with thy tempest: and shalt trouble them in thy wrath. [17] Fill their faces with shame; and they shall seek thy name, O Lord. [18] Let them be ashamed and troubled for ever and ever: and let them be confounded and perish. [19] And let them know that the Lord is thy name: thou alone art the most High over all the earth.

There will always be depressing times in the Church.  But do not be discouraged – we know how this story ends (Psalm 83, Douay Reims):

Quam dilecta. The soul aspireth after heaven; rejoicing in the mean time, in being in the communion of God’s church upon earth.

[1] Unto the end, for the winepresses, a psalm for the sons of Core. [2] How lovely are thy tabernacles, O Lord of host! [3] My soul longeth and fainteth for the courts of the Lord. My heart and my flesh have rejoiced in the living God. [4] For the sparrow hath found herself a house, and the turtle a nest for herself where she may lay her young ones: Thy altars, O Lord of hosts, my king and my God. [5] Blessed are they that dwell in thy house, O Lord: they shall praise thee for ever and ever.

[6] Blessed is the man whose help is from thee: in his heart he hath disposed to ascend by steps, [7] In the vale of tears, in the place which be hath set. [8] For the lawgiver shall give a blessing, they shall go from virtue to virtue: the God of gods shall be seen in Sion. [9] O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. [10] Behold, O God our protector: and look on the face of thy Christ.

[11] For better is one day in thy courts above thousands. I have chosen to be an abject in the house of my God, rather than to dwell in the tabernacles of sinners. [12] For God loveth mercy and truth: the Lord will give grace and glory. [13] He will not deprive of good things them that walk in innocence: O Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.

Praise God!

Sister Keehan, CHA appear to back off challenge to bishop’s authority… February 1, 2011

….for now?  Sister Keehan, who, in addition to giving vital, critical support to Obamacare to secure it’s passage, had rebuked Phoenix Bishop Thomas Olmstead for revoking the ‘Catholic status’ of a hospital in the Phoenix area for having performed an abortion.  In arguing her case, she stated that hospitals had an equally legitimate ‘right’ to make decisions on care with respect to the Church’s ethical guidelines as the local ordinaries did, and, moreso, that in this case, Bishop Olmstead had gotten his decision wrong.  This was a direct challenge to the Bishop’s authority, which Bishop Olmstead did not appreciate.  Now, Sr. Keehan and the Catholic Health Association (CHA) appear to be backing off:

The local bishop is the “authoritative interpreter” of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Ethical and Religious Directives for Health Care Services, the president of the Catholic Health Association affirmed in a recent letter to Archbishop Timothy Dolan of New York.

Sister Carol Keehan’s January 18 letter to the USCCB president represents an apparent reversal of an earlier statement in which she defended a Phoenix hospital’s decision to permit an abortion. Sister Keehan had said on December 22:

St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix has many programs that reach out to protect life. They had been confronted with a heartbreaking situation. They carefully evaluated the patient’s situation and correctly applied the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services to it, saving the only life that was possible to save.

Bishop Thomas Olmsted of Phoenix, on the other hand, made clear that the abortion violated the directives and that he was the directives’ authoritative interpreter in his diocese. When the hospital persisted in its defense of the abortion, Bishop Olmsted declared that the hospital was not Catholic. In her January 18 letter [to Archbishop Dolan, head of the USCCB], Sister Keehan said that

CHA has always said to sponsors, governing board members, manager and clinicians that an individual Bishop in his diocese is the authoritative interpreter of the ERDs. We explain that a Bishop has a right to interpret the ERDs and also to develop his own ethical and religious directives if he chooses.

CHA has a sincere desire to work with the Church and individual Bishops to understand as clearly as possible, clinical issues and bring the majesty of the Church’s teaching to that.

I find it odd that Sister Keehan describes CHA as being an entity almost outside the Church – the way she describes CHA’s desire to work with the Church…..isn’t CHA part of the vast panoply that is the Catholic Church.  Now, I might argue that the Church has far too many bureaucratic organs like CHA, USCCB, Texas Catholic Conference, CRS, etc., but they are all PART of the Church – not some outside entity “working with the Church.”  Is that how Sr. Keehan sees CHA?  Perhaps that is why I and others refer to Sr. Keehan and others as setting up an ‘alternate magisterium.’

Archbishop Dolan responded:

Your acknowledgement that the local bishop is the authoritative interpreter of the Ethical and Religious Directives in his diocese is a welcome and crucial component in understanding what is authentic Catholic moral teaching … Any medical case, and especially one with unique complications, certainly requires appropriate consultation with medical professionals and ethical experts with specialization in the teaching of the Church.

Still, as you have reasserted, it is the diocesan bishop’s authentic interpretation of the ERD’s that must then govern their implementation. Where conflicts arise, it is again the bishop who provides the authoritative resolution based on his teaching office. Once such a resolution of a doubt has been given, it is no longer a question of competing moral theories or the offering of various ethical interpretations or opinions of the medical data that can still be legitimately espoused and followed. The matter has now reached the level of an authoritative resolution

I must wonder what brought about this sea change in Keehan’s thoughts on this matter.  She has completely reversed herself.  I think the bishop’s finally had enough of this particular aspect of the “alternate magisterium.”  We shall have to see if this newfound allegiance to the authority of the bishops remains in effect – after all, it was Sr. Keehan’s disobedience from the plain directives of the USCCB and most bishops that allowed Obamacare to pass into law.  Without Sr. Keehan’s very stolid support, resulting in a huge amount of access to the White House (which reveals how key a role she played), Obamacare would not have become law. But of course, Obamacare is now a fact (for the time being), and the USCCB seems conflicted on whether to support its repeal or not, so Sr. Keehan will likely not have to repudiate her support for that disastrous law, which she made in defiance of the clear guidance of the collective bishops of this country.

UPDATE: Uh, yeah, nothing’s changed at CHA.  This was nothing more than a CYA move.

A further sign of the decline of Catholic identity? February 1, 2011

Very few people are naming their daughter’s Mary.  We have an Elena Marie, I don’t know if that counts.  If we have another girl, I want to name her Maria Teresa:

Mary– which was among the two most popular girls’ baby names from 1910 to 1965– fell to 102nd in popularity in 2009, according to the Social Security Administration. Joseph remains a popular boys’ name, ranking 16th.

A further sign of the decline of a Catholic culture, of a distinctly Catholic identity, or much ado about nothing?

Planned Parenthood complicit in child sex abuse February 1, 2011

Not only is Planned Parenthood proved, documented, to be complicit in cases or rape and incest, effectively hiding the evidence and failing to report it to the police and other authorities while they perform abortions on underaged girls to hide the evidence, Planned Barrenhood has now even been proved to go so far as to be willing to perform its “services” on underage girls it knows, or believes, to be victims of a child prostitution ring.  Yes, Lila Rose has struck again:

Over the past four years, our investigative team has revealed repeated cases of Planned Parenthood affiliates covering up the statutory rape of underage girls and enabling sexual abusers.

The footage corroborates a 2002 extensive study of Planned Parenthood clinics performed by Life Dynamics. Through a series of phone calls, the study documents over 90% of over 800 abortion clinics willing to cover up sexual abuse.

In ten Planned Parenthood clinics, Live Action videos depict investigators posing as underage girls, as young as 13-years-old, saying they were impregnated by men over twice their age. Planned Parenthood’s typical response? “Whatever you tell us stays within these walls” (Alabama). Or, “I didn’t hear the age, I don’t want to know the age” (Indiana). Or, “You don’t have to say anything” (Arizona). Or, “Just say he’s 15″ (Tennessee).

We have also chronicled Planned Parenthood workers giving outright medical misinformation and manipulating vulnerable young women to purchase abortions. We’ve shown Planned Parenthood willing to accept funds for race-based abortions of unborn Black children. And for those who are willing to face the ultimate abuse of a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic, we’ve released a video revealing what abortion does to the defenseless unborn child.

What will it take for Congress to stop funding this abusive and corrupt billion-dollar organization? What will it take for the Department of Justice to launch a thorough investigation of Planned Parenthood’s sexual abuse cover-up and medical misinformation? What will it take for us, the American public, to say, “Enough is enough!”  Hopefully this:

This video reveals a top-level Planned Parenthood worker, the manager of Planned Parenthood of Central New Jersey’s second largest clinic, making a secret deal with a pimp. Watch and listen as the Planned Parenthood manager, Amy Woodruff, advises the pimp how to make the trafficking of underage girls look “as legit as possible” (her words). Watch and listen as the manager advises the pimp how to ensure that his 14-year old victims of trafficking can still make money for him after secret abortions by performing sex acts “waist up” (her idea). Watch as she advises the pimp to instruct his girls to lie on the paper work about their ages, and identify themselves as “students” to get cheaper contraception and avoid mandatory reporting laws.

“Minors are always permitted to receive abortions without parental consent?”  REALLY?  Is that just a New Jersey thing?  This entire story is beyond ghastly, horrifying, I don’t think there are words to convey the hell real underage sex slaves undergo.  And Planned Barrenhood, at least in the case of this New Jersey “clinic,” is not only a willing accomplice in the commisssion of state and federal crimes, they ACT LIKE THEY’VE BEEN DOING IT FOR YEARS, LIKE THIS IS A REGULAR PART OF THEIR BUSINESS!  Should we be surprised that an industry that has no qualms about receiving funds specifically to abort black babies, that willingly covers up sex abuse, that willingly aids and abets child sex slavery, would also be less than concerned about hygiene practices and about the safety of the mother?  Are we surprised, then, that rules, like not killing babies that survive the abortion process, are intentionally broken and babies murdered after they have taken their first breaths of air?

I don’t think these videos will surprise too many in the pro-life movement.  The only surprising thing is that this barbarism, this butchery, this murder for hire, is still, somehow, perfectly legal in this country.  How many babies must die, how many women will suffer, before we put a stop to this horror?  For the love of God, when will Congress defund these awful, satanic places?

BTW – there will be much more to come.  There is an entire string of these videos.

Holy Family, pray for us, for our failure to stop this murder, and for an end to this nightmare.

More from Jill Stanek.  I’ve known about these videos for weeks – and so did Planned Barrenhood.  They have tried to forestall the damage by asking the FBI to investigate the team that captured this lawbreaking on video.

The Associated Press reported last week that after several Planned Parenthoods around the country realized they had been stung again by Lila Rose and LiveAction.org sometime between January 11-15, CEO Cecile Richards tried to mitigate pending damage by belatedly reporting the sex trafficking poser to the DOJ and alerting the press first.Well, the first horrific video of Live Action’s investigation has just been made public, and PP’s vast but pathetic PR machine will not be able to surmount this one.

Yet more from Stanek:

Revelations about the dangerous and dastardly practices of late-term abortionists, particularly on the East Coast (Brigham, Carhart, Gosnell), continue.Today Operation Rescue exposed yet another new way they are circumventing the system – this time only by killing babies by lethal injection and nothing more. This will force many pro-life obstetricians and hospitals into complicity by completing the abortion.

Notorious late-term abortionist James Pendergraft, a convicted felon whose FL license is currently running concurrent 3rd and 4th suspensions, has set up practice in an undisclosed DC-area office where he will solely kill preborn babies by lethal injection and then send mothers off to complete the abortions wherever/however they can. According to Pendergraft’s website, LateTermAbortions.net:

We perform the intracardiac injection of medication into the fetal heart in our private facility in the Washington, D.C. area. Once the fetal heart beat has stopped, the patient can elect to return back to her private physician to complete the induction of labor with delivery of the fetus, or they may elect to go to another facility to have the termination process completed.
