YOU GUYS NEED TO GO!  It is ‘teh awesome!’  And yes, I sometimes mispell ‘the’ on purpose.

So, the crowd this last Friday, at least for the 8pm Mass, was the biggest I’ve seen yet.  At least 100 people, I would guess – they were spilling outside.  I’m glad I got there early!  It really is a very nice, a superlative kind of Adoration – the FSSP priests are, of course, very reverent, and the sermons at every Mass I have been to at the Carmelite chapel with Fr. Phil Wolfe FSSP have been supreme.  I love the FSSP guys, because every time I hear one of their sermons, I learn something, or many things.  For instance, I learned this last weekend that even passionate kissing by unmarried people is a very grave, possibly mortal sin.  Now, that makes sense if one thinks about what goes on when one is doing that particular activity, but I had never considered it before.  But then, I’ve led a very sheltered life.  <cough>

And then there’s the nuns, the OCDs, and their prayers before and after Mass.  They’re very sweet and cute,

Not Dallas Carmelites

almost comical in a way, when they sing some of their prayers in a super high falsetto.  I love their modesty, how they pull their massive hoods (hoods is probably not the right term, sorry) over their heads so they cannot be seen whenever they approach the grill.  It looks like they’re growing – I sneaked a peak and saw some white hoods this time.  I think there is a young lady from St. William with them now, but I’m not sure. The chapel is beautiful, and it’s awesome seeing people hunker down for hours of Adoration.  I’m a wimp, I only stay a couple of hours and then I’ve bailed, but I’m trying to stay longer each time I go.

It’s really worthwhile.  Adoration is a blessed experience anytime, but this is a cut above – there is a very great sense of love and reverence for the Blessed Sacrament, and there is truly great devotion going on.  I highly encourage everyone to try to get down there for First Friday sometime.  I think you’ll derive great value from the experience.

I must bring some supplies for the nuns next time.  I am ashamed of myself for not having done so, yet.  They are always in need of some basic items like paper towels, toilet paper, and vegitarian foods – vegetables, soups (no meat broth), tomato sauces, frozen vegetables (brocolli, okra, spinach – no peas and carrots, they have too much!), etc.

Confession is available much of the late night with FSSP and the Mass is a Low Mass.  If you don’t go you’re not allowed to read my blog anymore.
