My wife’s cousin, Sr. Miriam James Heidland SOLT, will be on the EWTN program Life on the Rock tonight, 9pm Central.  The show’s topic is Nun Essential, which is also the title of her blog, but I don’t know what that really means.  I do know that Sr. Miriam James has given a number of presentations on……..uh……hmmmm….. theology of the body.  I met Sr. Miriam James for the first time last year at a family get together.  I know she’s been on TV few times before, but this EWTN appearance is likely the biggest audience she’s met yet.  I pray God fills her with Grace and she provides brilliant witness to the Truth Christ has revealed through His Church.

UPDATE: That was an awesome program.  I think Sr. Miriam James gave a beautiful witness.  If you didn’t see the program, it will re-air, and you can watch it on ewtn.com anytime.  You should really check it out, not only because Sharon Sr. Miriam James is my wife’s cousin, but because it’s a really solid witness to the Faith.

I should have posted this last week June 2, 2011

I saw this last week on Acts of the Apostasy, and I thought to post it then, but for various reasons did not.  Perhaps you’ve seen this video elsewhere.  Still, I think it’s an incredible achievement, a lip synch music video of 9 minutes length shot with one camera in a single take involving 5000 people and most of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan.  This video was done in response to a Newsbeak article claiming Grand Rapids as a dying city.  The good people of Grand Rapids took umbrage to that declaration:

I think it’s lovely, although the song I have always found cloying.  I hate how the chorus remains stuck in my head for the rest of the day!  But a very class effort – makes me want to go there.

You can begin the Novena to the Holy Spirit, for the great Feast of Pentecost, today.  There is a longish but very holy Novena at EWTN.  There is a somewhat shorter Novena here.

Pray for the 7 Gifts of the Holy Spirit! The spirit of Wisdom and Understanding, Counsel and Fortitude, Knowledge and Piety, and Holy Fear.

And I will assist at Mass according to the 1962 Missal, because otherwise, it’s just the optional memorial of Sts. Marcellinus and Peter (no, not THAT Peter).

Am I the only one who would really, really like our Holy Days of Obligation back?
