Although I’m sick, I love you, my dear, sweet readers so much, that when big news breaks, I get it to you hours late!  Komen has “dropped” Planned Barrenhood:

NEW YORK – The nation’s leading breast-cancer charity, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, is halting its partnerships with Planned Parenthood affiliates — creating a bitter rift, linked to the abortion debate, between two iconic organizations that have assisted millions of women.

The change will mean a cutoff of hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants, mainly for breast exams.

Planned Parenthood says the move results from Komen bowing to pressure from anti-abortion activists. Komen says the key reason is that Planned Parenthood is under investigation in Congress — a probe launched by a conservative Republican who was urged to act by anti-abortion groups.

The rupture, which has not been publicly announced as it unfolded, is wrenching for some of those who’ve learned about it and admire both organizations………..

Planned Parenthood said the Komen grants totaled roughly $680,000 last year and $580,000 the year before, going to at least 19 of its affiliates for breast-cancer screening and other breast-health services.  [My Lord we live in an Orwellian time.  I have read numerous lamestream news articles at the least casting doubt, if not outright denying, the Komen funds Planned Barrenhood.  Komen has tried to deny it in the past, as well.  But now it’s out in the open just as if everyone knew all along.  No big deal.]

Komen spokeswoman Leslie Aun said the cutoff results from the charity’s newly adopted criteria barring grants to organizations that are under investigation by local, state or federal authorities. According to Komen, this applies to Planned Parenthood because it’s the focus of an inquiry launched by Rep. Cliff Stearns, R-Fla., seeking to determine whether public money was improperly spent on abortions.  [I suspect funding was cut-off because even lefty organizations are having a hard time rationalizing Planned Parenthood’s widespread support of child abuse and prostitution]

Cecile Richards, president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, has depicted Stearns’ probe as politically motivated and said she was dismayed that it had contributed to Komen’s decision to halt the grants to PPFA affiliates.

“It’s hard to understand how an organization with whom we share a mission of saving women’s lives could have bowed to this kind of bullying,” Richards told The Associated Press. “It’s really hurtful.”

Hurtful.  Losing funding is hurtful.  No, darling Cecile, ripping babies limb from limb is hurtful.  Scalding them to death in a toxic saline solution is hurtful.  Subjecting women to horrific physical and emotional abuse, including young girls being used as sex slaves, is hurtful.  Being founded by a racist, elitist, eugenicist sicko, and apparently continuing those policies on at least a tacit level to this day (accepting donations to abort black babies, siting mills in minority neighborhoods), is hurtful. Destroying women’s lives, ripping apart families like you do babies, and selling that destruction as “freedom” and “empowerment” is hurtful.

This move by Komen could be huge.  Planned Parenthood gets its funding from 3 main sources – the government, other charities, and from abortion.  It’s government funding is already under grave threat, being cut across the country.  If they lose their revenue from other charities (dozens of them), Planned Barrenhood could be doomed, or at least gravely damaged (yay!)  Komen is something of a trendsetter, I take it.  I pray that is the case.

I wouldn’t break out the checks to Komen just yet, though.  I doubt this matter has played itself out all the way.
