Prayers for a happy (holy) death June 12, 2012

It used to be that people prayed to have a holy death. This was a death with sufficient time for recourse to a priest and a general Confession associated with Extreme Unction and Holy Viaticum.  To die on a death bed, perhaps at home.  Even to undergo some willing suffering, in order to expiate in this life the temporal punishment due to the sins committed.  That was a time when souls knew (KNEW) that this life we are currently in was but a preparation for our next, permanent home, and that we had better do all we could to make sure we wound up in the right one!

But, with the general collapse of the practice of the Christian (Catholic) Faith, people lost sight of such things.  Concerns surrounding death became much more worldly, much more, in a way, selfish.  “Don’t let me suffer.”  “I pray that it’s quick.”  “A massive heart attack, that’s for me, I don’t want to linger.”  Little consideration was given for receiving the last Sacraments, or even a quick and great moment of contrition.  The funny thing is, and this is satan’s trap, so many people today just assume their going to Heaven, if they have any faith at all. “Jesus loves us,” and all that, right?  Who would believe in a God so cruel as to send someone to eternal suffering?  That abortion I had……God understands!  The money I embezzled from my company – I needed it!  The morphine I stole from a cancer patient – hey, that’s what addicts do!  Don’t judge me!

And, surely, God won’t either, right? In spite all the evidence of Sacred Scripture and Tradition, the plaintive implorations of Saints to repent, various apparitions of our Blessed Mother of souls falling into hell……

When I was out of town, we stopped by a cemetery where a number of my forebears are buried.  Whenever I’m at a cemetery, I always pray the prayer of St. Gertrude the Great and others for the holy souls in Purgatory.  It is very moving for me.  This is a duty we as Catholics should observe at least a few times a year.  We have a spiritual obligation to pray for those who have died before us.  It is a great spiritual work of mercy.

But for those of us who are still living, Fr. George David Byers, that heremetic priest of the Fathers of Mercy, recommends prayers for the intercession of St. Joseph for a happy, holy death.  Thousands of people will die today. It would be a great act of mercy to say prayers that not only you, but they, have the grace of a holy death:

ETERNAL Father, by the love Thou bearest toward St. Joseph,
who was chosen by Thee from among all men to exercise Thy
divine fatherhood over the Thy Son made Man, have mercy on
N. and upon all poor souls who are in their agony.

Our Father . . . Hail Mary . . . Glory Be . . .

ETERNAL Son of God, by the love Thou bearest toward
St. Joseph, who was Thy most faithful guardian upon earth,
have mercy on N. and upon all poor souls who are in their agony.

Our Father . . . Hail Mary . . . Glory Be . . .

ETERNAL Spirit of God, by the love Thou bearest toward
St. Joseph, who guarded with such tender care most holy Mary,
Thy beloved spouse, have mercy on N. and upon all poor souls who are in their agony.

Our Father . . . Hail Mary . . . Glory Be . . .

Perhaps you know a soul who is infirm, or advanced in years.  Pray this for them!  Perhaps these prayers could be added to your nightly family or personal prayers. I have found that prayers to St. Joseph are so very efficacious!  He wants to help his spiritual children, and his intercessions with his Son are second only to those of his sinless Wife, Our Blessed Mother.

I love both of my holy parents so much.

The reality of abortion in China June 12, 2012

Warning, shocking, horrible photo below.  Look at your own risk.

China’s “one child policy” is popular among some abortion supporters and radical environmentalists in this country.  Vice President Joe Biden said it was alright by him.  Planned Parenthood can’t bring itself to denounce sex selective abortion.  Remember – abortion is all about “empowering” women.  And China is an “enlightened” autocracy.

All statements made lies by one horrible photograph:

Shanxi Province, China.  Women’s Rights Without Frontiers has learned that a woman was forcibly aborted at seven months of pregnancy on June 3, 2012.

According to a report by the China-based human rights organization 64Tianwang, the woman, Feng Jianmei, was beaten and dragged into a vehicle by a group of Family Planning Officials while her husband, Deng Jiyuan, was out working.  The officials asked for RMB 40,000 in fines from Feng Jianmei’s family.  When they did not receive the money, they forcibly aborted Feng at seven months, laying the body of her aborted baby next to her in the bed.  Feng is under medical treatment in Ankang City, Zhenpin County, Zengjia Town, Yupin village.

A baby killed.  A woman horrifically violated.   The closest physical bond between created beings shattered. And yet we will hear defenses of China’s one child policy and apologists for abortion.

I’m sorry for the shocking photo, but it conveys reality better than 10000 words.

RealCatholicTV.com changing to ChurchMilitant.tv June 12, 2012

Tiring of dealing with the assumption by many that they are somehow “disobedient” by using the term “Catholic” without diocesan approval, RealCatholicTV is changing its name to ChurchMilitant.tv.  There are also other reasons that cannot be gone into, but have to deal with differences in direction between some of the parties who have been involved in RealCatholicTV – for, as I have said, Michael Voris and the staff in Detroit at Saint Michael’s Media do not own the RealCatholicTV name – they just produce, or produced, content for it.  Now, it will be churchmilitant.tv.  I am certain the content will remain as awesome as ever:

I need to start planning the Dallas Michael Voris conference, Mk. II!

Study – children raised in same-sex parent household suffer greatly June 12, 2012

It’s against the laws of nature and God.  Is it any surprise, then, that one of the first truly detailed, non-politicized studies of the results of growing up in a household with gay parents reveal a much higher prevalence of problems in many areas of life?  Via Bishop Rene Gracida, the Washington Times reports:

Two studies released Sunday may act like brakes on popular social-science assertions that gay parents are the same as — or maybe better than — married mother-father parents.

“The empirical claim that no notable differences exist must go,” University of Texas sociology professor Mark Regnerus said in his study in Social Science Research.

Using a “gold standard” data set of nearly 3,000 randomly selected American young adults, Mr. Regnerus looked at their lives on 40 measures of social, emotional and relationship outcomes.

He found that, when compared with adults raised in married, mother-father families, adults raised by lesbian mothers had negative outcomes in 24 of 40 categories, while adults raised by gay fathers had negative outcomes in 19 categories.

Findings like these contradict claims that there are no differences between gay parenting and heterosexual, married parents, said Mr. Regnerus, who helped develop the New Family Structures Study at the University of Texas. [yay, something good from UT!]

The article goes on to note a different study which refutes what the “totally politicized” American Psychological Association has claimed, which is that children of gay parents do at least as well, if not better!, than those raised in homes with a mom and dad.

A rough summary of the data from the UT study is presented below:

Some of the data is terrifying, or should be to anyone who knows how devastating child sex abuse, or rape, can be.  Tiny fractions of those who grow up in households with a mom and dad have experienced such trauma, while 1/4 to 1/3 of those who grew up in gay households have endured such awful, innocence-destroying events.  The children of gay households are far more likely to be unemployed, to be on welfare, to be unmarried but living with a sex partner, and 3 times as likely as to have had committed adultery, and 2 1/2 times as likely to have had an STD!  All fo these are disastrous consequences.

I am certain that the very well funded and connected gay lobby will now do all in its power to deny this data and destroy the reputation of Dr. Mark Regnerus.  The reaction will surely be vicious and sustained, and is in fact already underway.  Poor Professor Regnerus has spoken heresy, and he must either repent or burn, burn, burn in the hellfire of elite opinion and media excoriation.

For a faithful Catholic, however, these studies are largely meaningless.  For we know the Truth.  The Truth is a person Who has spoken through His Church for 2000 years, and before that in revelations made to the Jewish people.  For 3000 years, the Truth has said that homosexual acts are always intrinsically evil, and that the homosexual orientation is gravely disordered.  That children, the flower of innocence, caught in such a situation through no fault of their own should suffer is not surprising.  What is surprising, and depressingly amazing, is that so many in this culture seem to have so utterly forgotten not only this fact, but the nature of Truth itself.

Some views on the LCWR sisters and their allies June 12, 2012

The LCWR imbroglio continues to descend to lower and lower levels of hubris and heated rhetoric.  For a quick reminder, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith has determined that the many religious orders that belong to the Leadership Conference of Women Religious have strayed very far from Catholic orthodoxy.  As such, an apostolic delegate in the form of Seattle Archbishop Peter Sartain, is to be appointed to implement some kind of doctrinal oversight, potentially even instilling some forms of discipline.  There are many Catholics who are glad to see this, as the radical feminist ideology and public, vociferous apostasy of many in LCWR – especially among the “leadership” of that group – has caused grave scandal and probably led many souls very far astray from the Faith, placing the state of their souls in jeopardy.

Sadly, we’ve been through this exercise before.  Several times in the past 40 years, the radical sisters of the LCWR have been threatened with discipline of some form, and every time they have used their allies in the media and in the Church to stave off any such efforts.  We’re going  through the same thing now, with the sisters now claiming to be sweet, innocent nuns, who just want to help poor people and “serve Christ,” and why is the Vatican picking on them?   You can see some coverage of this media blitz by the sisters here.

Koesel

As I said, they have allies in the Church.  One such ally, a priest by the name of Fr. Doug Koesel of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Cleveland, OH.  Last week, Fr. Koesel had what could be described as a raging nutty over the horrible, evil Vatican “persecuting” these innocent, sweet “nuns.”  All the usual shibboleths and shroud waving were present.  The conclusion was incredible (I add emphasis and comments):

Religious women in the US refuse to be controlled by abusive authority that seeks to control out of fear.[Think about what this priest – PRIEST – who made holy vows of obedience to his bishop and the  Magisterium at large, including the Holy Father, is saying.  He’s saying the Vatican is evil, an abusive authority that controls through fear.  Nothing about love, or difference of opinion, even – simply that they are totally, 100% wrong and driven by the most base of motivations] They realize that Jesus taught no doctrines, but that the church, over time, developed what Jesus taught in a systematic way. Nuns have always tried to work within the system. [Really?  No doctrines?  Nothing about “if you look on a woman with lust in your heart, you have committed adultery?”  Nothing about “if you love Me, you will keep My commandments?”  This priest has created a caricature of Jesus in his own image and likeness]
This time their prophetic voices may take them out of the system. [Is this a threat?  I note that this tantrum was published by the Distorter] They may take a lot of Catholics and a lot of their hospitals, schools, colleges, orphanages, prison ministries, convents, women’s shelters, food pantries and, of course, the good will they have earned over the centuries with them. [Soooo…..it is a threat.  How beneath the dignity of a priest.  And how wrong – if they do take anyone, it is a tragedy, but the Church will soldier on without them, as She always has]

This investigation is not about wayward US nuns. It is the last gasp for control by a dying breed, wrapped in its own self-importance. [Fr. Koesel is about 70.  I can’t imagine this total lack of self-awareness.  Talk about irony.  It’s also completely counter to the trends in the Church, where youth is very strongly attracted to orthodoxy, and not the fading dreams of the 60s revolutionaries] It is a struggle for the very nature of the church; who we are, how we pray, where we live, who belongs, why we believe. The early church endured a similar struggle. The old order died. The Holy Spirit won. Happy Pentecost Sunday. [Once again, the Vatican and those who accept the Dogmas of the Faith are old, pharisaical, cruel, power hungry, vindictive.  I think good Fr. needs a long look in the mirror.]

I contacted Fr. Koesel.  I thanked him for his years of service.  I then tried, with charity but at times with philosophical force, to make him see the disaster he, and his kind, have visited on the Church.  I noted the fact that his parish does not have Confession at any time.  I asked him to consider repentance.  I literally begged him to reconsider his complete antipathy towards the Holy Father and the Authority he has been given by Christ over the Church.

I did not receive a positive reply.  In fact, I cannot print the reply, as it was so lewd and beneath the dignity of a priest that I was shocked.  I have had disagreements with priests before.  I have exchanged sharp words, even.  But I’ve never seen anything like this sent by a priest to anyone – it was foul and disgusting, and, I’m afraid, terribly revealing of the state of Fr. Koesel’s soul.

It was sort of a depressing exercise.  But today, there was a ray of light.  A brilliant, sharp ray, in the form of a sermon given by one of the young, recently ordained priests of this Diocese.  Apparently, one of the LCWR leaders was on the Stephen Colbert show last night.  She was actually part of NETWORK, the rather far left social justice lobby associated with the LCWR, which, during the debates surrounding Obamacare and in defiance of the bishops of this country, gave critical cover to self-proclaimed pro-life democrats to vote in favor of Obamacare.  This was in opposition to the bishop’s collective guidance, informing these democrats not to vote in favor of the bill.  Thus, the “alternative magisterium.”

The priest related his great dismay over the words of this sister.  He related the terrible scandal such women had caused in the Church.  He reminded the people assisting at Mass of the warning Christ gave to those who caused such terrible scandal.  He also mentioned Sr. Margaret Farley’s apostate book which has been

Dear Me

condemned by the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith for its support of so-called gay marriage, masturbation, sex outside marriage, women pretending to be priests, and numerous other problems.  The priest seemed genuinely concerned and upset about the souls being led astray by these sisters infested with radical feminist and leftist/modernist beliefs. Beliefs which trump whatever faith they had in Christ and His Church.  He reminded that all of these women took oaths of obedience to the Church, and now they treat the Magisterium as the enemy, as Fr. Koesel does.

The young priest correctly diagnosed the source of this widespread error – pride.  It’s the same pride that rang through Fr. Koesel’s words above.

This young priest was more charitable than I have been.  He felt that the LCWR, Farley, etc., are not acting maliciously, they’re just very confused.  I wish I could believe as this priest does.  But so

LCWR “contemplation”

much evidence shows that they are acting maliciously, and in their rage at the male authority over them (and, in reality, their desperate craving for its approval, just like dad), they are doing all they can to present themselves as an alternative magisterium.  And, I fear, Fr. Koesel is right – that if discipline is finally enforced, even mildly – it will be taken as the excuse to finally and formally bolt.

As terrible a tragedy as that may be, I have to say, if these heretical sisters and their allies cannot accept the Faith as it has been revealed through the Church, it is better for the Church and the many faithful souls if they do leave.  Not for them, for they shall not be saved outside the Church they specifically reject.  But this is a bed of their own making.  They have been dialogued, cajoled, even begged to be faithful, but this lost generation will not overcome its pride.  I don’t think there are human means for such a change to occur – it will take an act of Grace.

I will pray.

Oh, a final note about the LCWR.  The  keynote speaker at their upcoming annual conference is Barbara Marx Hubbard, a truly nutty new age and far left peace activist.  She has made numerous statements against the Church in the past.  She advocates a “post-Christian” belief system and rejects the idea of Christ, even God, and is totally immanentist – that is, she believes that we are all “gods,” or that our “perfect inner self,” that paragon of new age ideas, is a “god.”  Tragically, many in LCWR, especially among its radical leadership, share these beliefs.

They’ll never change.  Perhaps suppression of some of the worst of these orders is the only solution.
