So, when I was home sick yet again yesterday (in the past several weeks, I’ve had a bad sinus infection, food poisoning, and now the flu), my lovely and amazingly talented, generous wife picked up some In-n-Out Burger on her way home from caring for someone even sicker than I was.  I had wanted to try it.  Sorry to say, but it’s got nothing on Whataburger to me.  It was good, but not great.  The burger itself was pretty good, but the meat was very bland – no seasoning on it at all, I don’t think.  It might be fresh, but the patties on my double double were tiny – I would guess 1.6 oz each.  The lettuce and tomato were good, but the onions were tiny and not numerous compared to Whataburger.  The fries, which are often lauded since they are apparently made from fresh potatoes and not from frozen, were pretty good, but I wasn’t super impressed.

There was one neat thing.  They include little Scripture references on the packaging – like Jn 3:16 or Proverbs 3:15 or whatever.  That’s nice.  But, sorry, California, you lose again.  Blown out by Texas (Whataburger) and, for that matter, Oklahoma (Braum’s).  No one makes shakes like Braum’s, except maybe Chick-fil-A.

So, there you go.

Obama uses FBI as pro-life persecutors July 17, 2012

Jill Stanek has a most increcible post describing how the FBI hassled and intimidated a DALLAS pro-life activist who received complaints after using a bullhorn outside the Southwest Women’s Surgery Center  Baby Murder Factory.  The man in question happens to be Stanek’s son in law.  Stanek has the details of the harassment, but I have to ask whether Obama is not using the FBI to target and persecute his political opponents (Stanek and Obama having a long history together in Illinois).  The questions the FBI allegedly asked Stanek’s family here in Dallas are as ludicrously ham-handed and inappropriate as they are irrelevant (the responses I would have given):

  • What affiliations do you have including church groups? [uhh…….that’s nunya………]
  • How long have you known your wife? [four score and seven years]
  • What belief system makes you believe in your cause? [Obama-ism, and nothing but Obama-ism]
  • What is your goal in protesting? [Getting federal visitors to arrive at my doorstep]
  • Do you know why people would make complaints against you? [probably because of my strident socialistic views]
  • Are there friends of yours or people you’re connected with that you could confidentially tell us are aggressive or abrasive? “Don’t be afraid to tell us.” [Are you freaking kidding?  Did they really ask that?  My God, they were more professional and relevant on Dragnet]
  • Are you involved in activism in Austin, since we noticed some entries on abortionwiki?
  • They were REALLY interested in the connection to Jill Stanek – details of internship, New Zealand speaking tour visit, did you get your activist and pro-life ideas from her? Did she train or teach you? Did you meet Jill before or after you became involved in the movement? Was it Jill who “fired you up” to become so active in the movement?
  • They were overly nice saying he wasn’t in trouble and feel free to tell us anything. Encouraged him to keep going back out there, that they represent both sides. ++they are protecting his freedom of speech++ is what they kept saying. [Ummmm…..when armed officials from the government say they are “protecting” some right of yours, that’s a very scary thing.  It means that right is just about dead]
  • They said their task force that deals with these abortion cases also handles Hate Crimes and White Supremacy. Odd grouping with pro-lifers. [Not when we consider that Janet Napolitano made it a point to list “right wing” hate groups as almost more dangerous than islamists when she entered office]
  • They knew he was an immigrant.  They said a felony on his record could/would get him deported. “You wouldn’t want to be apart from your wife and newborn.” [What kind of infantile threat is this?  Is this really how low the FBI has sunk?  My 11 year old can come up with more subtle threats than that]

Stanek feels this was a fishing expedition directed against her, and I’m inclined to agree.  I think it’s also what we can expect to continue and to grow much worse if this disaster remains in office.   Stanek goes on to note that the Obama administration has routinely made use of disastrous, really unconstitutional legislation like the FACE act to persecute pro-lifers.  Do you think they’re sending many FBI drones to infiltrate the “Occupy” movement for known drug-traffickers, rapists, and other felons?  No, but they have plenty of time to hassle 70 year old grandmas who pray a Rosary outside a mill once a week.

Welcome to Obama’s Amerika.

I’ve never been blessed to see this in action, properly.  It’s a historical item of note, to me.  I’d love to see it used again.  But, “no one” wants a triumphalist Church.  That would be bad:

Bring back the tiara, too!  Our Pope does have temporal authority, as he is God’s representative on earth!  I think that’s worthy of a bit of majesty!

President Snobama – if you’re successful, it’s because of someone else July 17, 2012

President Obama spoke recently on achievement in this country, and especially achievement in creating a business, and he apparently feels that if you’ve managed to succeed, it’s only because someone else did the really heavy lifting for you, and you just coasted on their coat-tails:

If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. [Give me a break. You can see the indebtedness of the modern democrat party to the monies of teachers unions in statements like this.  Sorry, Mr. President, but the only “teachers” who played an instrumental role in my achieving much in my life were my parents] Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. [Yes, but they were the opposite of you and virtually everything you believe] Somebody invested in roads and bridges.  [Ha!  He seems to think the government has a money tree and generously “invested” in roads and bridges out of its own beneficence.  What an idealogue!] If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. [What, really?  Did he just say that?] The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet. [Good, Lord, no, it didn’t.  The original concept for the internet, ARPAnet, as created as a research experiment in survivable communications networks.  It wasn’t created for commercial purposes at all.  And the vast, vast majority of the features and functionality of the internet have been created by private enterprise and academia on their own, without any government involvement whatsoever.  This is hardly secret – it’s basic knowledge.  Why does our supposedly so brilliant and well-educated president not know this?]

The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together. There are some things, just like fighting fires, we don’t do on our own. I mean, imagine if everybody had their own fire service. That would be a hard way to organize fighting fires.

OK, so obviously Obama is trying to argue that if you’ve been successful, you owe the government 90% of your income in the form of taxes.  It won’t work, for the Laffer curve shows that government receipts never go beyond about 20% of GDP no matter how high taxes are set at.

But, on a more fundamental level, these comments reveal some very interesting things about Obama – things we already knew, but it provides even more confirmation of just what an incredible statist, elitist, ignorant parvenu this man is.  It reveals how deeply he believes that the government – and government supported enterprises – is the source of most good in society and a source of its own wealth.  That is why when Obama speaks of tax cuts, he refers to “loss of revenue” or even money being “taken from” the government.  He really believes, in his heart of hearts, that the government somehow produces some massive trove of wealth that it condescends to dole out to us schlubs out of the goodness of his little leftist heart.  It’s so wrong it’s breathtaking, but I’m not sure what else we should expect from an inveterate socialist like him.

He is correct that we don’t do things on our own.  We’re all dependent on others to get our jobs done – whether we work in a corporation, operate small business, work in the government, etc.  But that’s immaterial.  And it’s not what he means.  He doesn’t know how wrong he is.  Yes, I am very fortunate in my life, but I am not fortunate because of governmental “largesse,” I’m fortunate because generations of my forebears worked and slaved and suffered to make things a bit better for their children.  My parents did that to a tremendous degree.  But the changes Obama has made and wants to make even more of in this country make the kind of help my forebears gave to their children utterly impossible.  It makes the slow accumulation of wealth – however small it is – from one generation to the next less and less likely.  He wants to kill the goose that lays the golden egg, because he sees that someone, somewhere, might not have such a goose.

Obama, no matter where he was born, is not an American.  He does not understand the people of this country.  Oh, he has a constituency he has fashioned from various disaffected groups, but the core of America that works hard, gets and stays married, raises children, and generally doesn’t ask for much all the while being rather more generous than people almost anywhere else in the world, he simply doesn’t understand.  It’s beyond his very strange experience.  Unfortunately, that core gets a little smaller all the time, and his policies work to insure that – so that there will be more dependent, disaffected people turning to Uncle Sugar for help.

I’ve said all this before. I’m frankly bored to death of Obama, he hasn’t an original thought in his head.   I can’t imagine 4 more years of this nightmare.  There won’t be much USA left, if it happens.

I have been blown away by the hard work and professionalism of Rebecca Diserio of the Fidelis Radio Network in the preparations she has made for the radio show which will start Thursday, July 19th.  She has done a tremendous amount of work, even creating a webpage for the show.  My show is called Salve Regina Radio (Show).  I dedicate all my efforts in this endeavour to our Blessed Mother and place the program under Her protection and guidance.  Please pray for me that I may reach many souls!

The show is going to have a mixed political/Catholic format.  It will be topical with what is going on in the world, but will also focus on Catholic belief and how it relates to the culture around us and the conduct of our lives.

The show will be weekly, at least at first, starting this Thursday July 19th at 9pm CDT.  We’ll see how it goes and see if the show expands from there.  A lot will depend on the amount of time I have!

Here is another page for the show at the blogtalkradio site.  Thursday night, to listen, go here.  My show will show up in the list – you can also listen on demand anytime after the show’s broadcast.  That’s one of the cool things about internet radio!

If you would, in your charity, please also pray for my defense against the barbs of satan – he has been throwing many at me of late in the form of more illnesses in the last 6 weeks than I normally get in 2 years!  I know that your prayers will avail of much in my defense in this regard.

God bless you!  I pray you can listen!  I will make another announcement on Thursday, God willing!

I offer this show to the glory of Jesus Christ in the Holy Trinity and pray that I may be a humble servant of His Holy Will!
