Thanks to MJD for sending this to me:

St. Jude is the patron of desperate situations and hopeless causes

Feast day is Oct. 28

Novena to St. Jude
Patron of desperate causes
Shorter Version- (A)

Most holy Apostle, St. Jude,
faithful servant and friend of Jesus,
the Church honors and invokes you universally,
as the patron of difficult cases,
of things almost despaired of,
Pray for me,
I am so helpless and alone.
Intercede with God for me that He bring visible
and speedy help where help is almost despaired of.
Come to my assistance in this great need
that I may receive the consolation
and help of heaven in all my necessities,
tribulations, and; sufferings,
(You make your request here...)
and that I may praise God with you
and all the saints forever.
I promise, O Blessed St. Jude,
to be ever mindful of this great favor
granted me by God
and to always honor you as my special
and powerful patron,
and to gratefully encourage devotion to you.
May the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus be adored,
and loved in all the tabernacles until the end of time.
May the most Sacred Heart of Jesus
be praised and glorified now and forever.
St. Jude pray for us and hear our prayers.
Blessed be the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Blessed be the Immaculate Heart of Mary
Blessed be St. Jude Thaddeus,
in all the world and for all Eternity.
(When finishing this prayer, recite the following prayers...)
Our Father...
Hail Mary...

…..Rorate Caeli got the shot:

Wow, from this angle, Cardinal Dolan looks exactly like Bill Donahue of the Catholic League.  Remember, Romney is at 52-45, see if that doesn’t decrease over the next 2 1/2 weeks. We have ages till the election.

And the vast majority of hispanic Catholics plan to vote for Obama.

UPDATE:  Michael Voris adds some very revealing details:

Of course, it’s easy to ask for persecution when you’ve never really been.  It rather sucks to be in one.  We all think we’ll be the one’s to remain faithful. I pray that is the case.

+Schoenborn to ravage Vienna, nearly 80% of parishes to close October 19, 2012

And the saddest part is, even this massive reduction will still leave most parishes with tiny congregations.  How glorious the Faith once was in Austria can be easily seen by the fact that one Diocese had more parishes as there are in the state of Texas.  But that is now long, long gone, and won’t come back until the self-mutilation of modernism and heterodoxy is stopped.

The 660 parishes in the Archdiocese of Vienna are to be drastically reduced over the next 10 years to just 150, reports The Tablet.

The Archbishop of Vienna, Cardinal Christoph Schönborn (pictured), made the announcement to a startled audience of journalists at the annual media reception at the archbishops’ palace last week, on 20 September.

The main factors behind the restructuring are the declining number of churchgoing Catholics and the shortage of priests. Parishes in the archdiocese will in future be much larger, with three to five priests in charge, one of whom will be responsible to the archbishop. [If each of these parishes can have 3 to 5 priests, they can’t have been that short of priests. This is about lack of attendance/money]

Each of these large parishes will be run jointly by priests and lay Catholics. [yay]

Related: priest removed from sacred ministry due to repeated butcherings of the Mass reinstated by Rome – if he repudiates his former actions. That’s doubtful, he looks like he’s having too much fun receiving the adulation of his blue-haired fans and embracing the world.

…..an astute reader sent this to me.  I had actually seen some other excerpts from this movie and didn’t like where it was  headed, so I stopped watching.  I missed this, until now.   Shame on the old biddies for not participating in the Mass!  Is this “real, active participation,” in the Mass, an offering up of oneself and many intentions to God in adoration, thanksgiving, contrition, and supplication, or is it a self-indulgent, worldly, empty-headed mess?

The Mass in transition, 1969.  The priest, at least, still faces the Lord.  That would change, soon enough.  As would the Latin, and everything else.  It was a difficult time, to be sure.

In the movie, the nun (Mary Tyler Moore, in a totally inapropos bit of casting) naturally falls in love with Elvis, and contemplates leaving her religious order (although, the final choice is not shown on screen, only strongly hinted at).  It truly is a time capsule of that time, with so many thousands of religious leaving their orders to get married or just shack up.
