I haven’t done a Novena update in a while. Here you go, straight from MJD to you.  This Novena should have started yesterday. Sorry I didn’t get it until late. I’m sure you can still start today and it’ll be alright:

St. Agatha is patron saint of:  Sicily, bellfounders,

against breast cancer, bakers, Catania, Sicily, against fire, earthquakes, eruptions of Mount Etna, fire, jewelers, martyrs, natural disasters, nurses, Palermo, Sicily, rape victims, single laywomen, sterility, torture victims, volcanic eruptions, wetnurses, and Zamarramala, Spain

Novena Prayer to St. Agatha:

O Saint Agatha, who withstood the unwelcome advances from unwanted suitors and suffered pain and torture for your devotion to Our Lord, we celebrate your faith, dignity and martyrdom.

Protect us against rape and other violations, guard us against breast cancer and other afflictions against women and inspire us to overcome adversity.

O Saint Agatha, virgin and martyr, mercifully grant that we who venerate your sacrifice may receive your intercession in all our needs.

  (Mention your intentions)

Please keep our homes, churches, places of work (and our country) free from all dangerous fires & storms, natural disasters and earthquakes.  AMEN

Prayer for Breast Diseases (Saint Agatha)

O Heavenly Father,
Who raised Agatha
to the dignity of Sainthood,
we implore Your Divine Majesty
by her intercession
to give us health of mind,
body and soul.
Free us from all those things
which hold us bound to this earth,
and let our spirit, like hers,
rise to your heavenly courts.
Through Jesus Christ,
Your Son, our Lord,
Who lives and reigns
with You, forever.

I love how the Church has patron Saints for everything. Volcanic eruptions! Wetnurses!  Awesome.

Consecration of the family to the Immaculate Heart of Mary January 31, 2013

One thing Our Lady revealed to the children at Fatima was that, eventually, her Immaculate Heart would triumph. While we wait with pious hope for the true fulfillment of the other demands Our Lady made at Fatima, we can consecrate our families to Mary’s Immaculate Heart at any time. Ideally, such should be led by a priest in your home, but if it’s impossible or difficult to arrange that, a father can lead his family in these powerful prayers below (a picture of Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart is needed for this – all should kneel before the picture):

Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, and tender Mother of men, to fulfill the desires of the Sacred Heart, and the request of the Vicar of your Son on earth, we consecrate ourselves to you, and to your Immaculate Heart, and recommend to you all the families of our nation and of the world.Immaculate-Heart-of-Mary

Please accept our consecration, dearest Mother, and use us and all familes as you wish, to accomplish your designs upon the world.

O Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of Heaven and earth, and of our family, rule over us, together with the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, our King. Save us from the spreading flood of modern paganism, kindle in our hearts and homes the love of purity, the practice of the Christian life, and an ardent zeal for souls, and for the holiness of family life.

We come with confidence to you, O Throne of Grace and Mother of Fair Love; inflame us with the same divine fire which has inflamed your own Immaculate Heart.

Make our hearts and homes your shrine, and through us make the Heart of Jesus rule and triumph in every family in the world. Amen.

One Pater Noster, Ave Maria, Gloria for the intentions of the Holy Father

The family Rosary (optional)

Salve Regina (Hail Holy Queen)heart of mary rays

Renewal fo the consecration fo the family to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Most Sweet Jesus, humbly kneeling at Thy feet, we renew the consecration of our family to Thy Divine Heart. Be Thou our King forever. In Thee we have full and entire confidence. May Thy spirit penetrate our thoughts, our desires, our words and our deeds. Bless our undertakings, share in our joys, in our trals, and in our labors. Grant us to know Thee better, to love Thee more, to seve Thee without faltering.

By the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of Peace, set up Thy kingdom in our country. Enter closely into the midst of our families and make them Thine own through the solemn Enthronement of Thy Sacred Heart, so that soon one cry may resound from home to home: May the triumphant Heart of Jesus be everywhere loved, blessed, and glorified forever! To the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary be honor and glory forever and ever! Amen.

Sacred Heart of Jesus, protect our families!

Some good videos on priests January 31, 2013

Certainly, what is being presented here is a vision of the priesthood that I think is very close to the Holy Father’s. These videos were produced by the Sacred Congregation for the Clergy.  We’ve been hearing more from them lately about…….how should I say……..bringing the priesthood back to a much more traditional practice.  Much of the practice shown in the videos – scenes from various Masses and Sacraments – is definitely on the conservative side. In the first video, I didn’t see any Communion in the hand, for instance, and many of the vestments, especially early on, were of the more traditional type. As the video goes on, you start to see more polyester 70s/80s style overcoats chasubles.  Ah, well, I suppose it’s going to take some time to get the more traditional practices truly widespread.  I think, and pray, that is the general direction of the liturgy – back to a more traditional practice. Albeit slowly.

I picked these up on Fr. George David Byer’s site.  There’s a great deal of content on the holy Cure of Ars.  I got to say, as the videos went on, there were a few theological propositions made that were a bit dubious, even troubling.  Much better than probably would have come from a video like this made, say, in 1985, but troubling nonetheless.  See if you pick any out.  Still, pretty good videos.

7 year old shames Obama January 31, 2013

Not that he’s capable of being shamed, given his solar system-sized ego and epic narcissism, but if this were me or you, and some 7 year old kid came up to me and said “Tantamergo, why do you think it’s OK for babies to be killed?,” I’d be pretty shamed.  But when it comes to the modern religion of the sexular pagans, anything related to sex is one area where there is total and complete freedom.  You can and must be ashamed of your carbon footprint, the electricity you use, the size of your car, the food you eat, the places you shop, etc., but murdering babies?  No, that’s fine, great a right!  It’s empowering!  Everybody should do it!  Maybe one day soon, everyone MUST do it!  They had that kind of going on in the Soviet Union, where 80% of all babies were murdered in utero.  How’s that working out for Russia now, with a rapidly declining population and a huge, unpopulated, resource-filled hinterland to maintain?

Anyway, a 7 year old boy writes a letter to Obama that just cuts through all the lying nonsense regarding abortion and totally shames “the most powerful man on the planet:”

Dear Presedent Obama

My name is Alexander. I’m 7. Please change the law about killing babys when they are still in mommy’s tummys.

This babys are a live and not one chose to die.

Please make a new law that will protect the babys.

Marten Luther King, Jr. had a drem and he changed America and I also have a dream that Momys have to take good care of the babys in there tummys and bring babys to the orfanedg and other mommys can adopt them and they will be happy.

I will also be Presedent wen I grow up.

Your Friend

Alexander G.

Not one choose to die. Ain’t that the truth. Abortion docs readily admit that many babies fight like mad to keep from being ripped to pieces by the abortionists vacuum or knife. And yet those same men, seeing this on the ultrasound, keep madly, viciously, ripping these babies to shreds every day.  Because of a “right to choose.”  Please.  The pro-aborts are full of such stinking, monstrous lies, lies that are totally subsumed in the stench of death.  Ever smell death?  Ever come upon a week old deer carcass out in the woods, the hide split, the noxious gases free to escape, the rotten flesh, the grey tongue hanging out, the hide pulled back rotten over the teeth?  It’s about as bad a smell as there is. That’s what abortion smells like. Except it’s not one deer, it’s 1, 134,587 human babies in a great big pile. It’s Auchwitz times 10,000. It’s human misery on a scale that’s never been seen before, and yet all the “right” people think it’s such a wonderful, empowering thing.

I’m so sick of it all.
