New Marian apparition in Mexico? March 22, 2013

I don’t know how “new” this is……this is actually from 6 years ago………..but what the heck.  My main question is, why are photos of ostensible phenomonen like this so frequently grainy and hard to see?  I love our Blessed Mother very deeply, I accept all approved apparitions (but not Medg) and firmly believe Mary is trying very hard to communicate to us, especially regarding the ongoing crisis in the Church (which She prophesied many times), but I also know there are certain souls who have perhaps an overly developed sensitivity to Our Lady’s attempts to communicate with us.  To me, this looks like the reflection of a spotlight, but who am I to say……

Here’s a picture that is small, but more clear:

Especially the beginning. From one of the leaders of the best public college Catholic student program in the nation, Aggie Catholics:

I really wish I could enjoy classical music more. Most of it just fails to move me, at all.  This, of course, is great, but it’s one of those rare pieces that have broad appeal. So much of what is played on WRR, for example, is just booooring.  To me.  My kids, however, like it.  I was exposed to quite a bit of classical music as a kid, and I just never liked it. At all.  I’ve grown to appreciate it somewhat more, but much of it just fails to move me.

It is strange, that within traditional Catholic communities, listening to classical is kind of de rigueur, and anything else can be sort of looked down on. I know most modern music is amoral in one sense or another, but I’m not sure I accept that even the basic “rock” beat (not that I listen to much of that, either) is somehow disordered, as I’ve heard some traditional priests say.  Mostly, I like country and always have (but not the Nashville pablum, unless it’s prior to about 1980 or so), but there is a great deal of immorality portrayed in that.  But, I have some favorites that are, I think, at least fair, morality-wise.  Frankly, I don’t listen to music very often anymore. When I drive, I pray, so I don’t listen to anything.  Sometimes on the weekend if I’m working in the garage. Occasionally at work if I’m doing some CAD work.  That’s about it.

I’m babbling.  Enjoy the video.

Very helpful guidance on discerning the Will of God March 22, 2013

I don’t know who wrote this, but I found it on JP Sonnen’s blog, and I think it deserves wide reading.  Certainly, it made me think about some of the things I think and say and post and wonder if I am not perhaps at times falling victim to some of satan’s mind-bending tricks.  I know folks are suffering from confusion and worry out there, for many reasons, so this little reminder might be helpful.  I know that it is possible to argue some of the guidance below, but as a rule of thumb, I think it has merit:

I would say, as a means of quick clarification, that it is quite possible to be worried, for instance, from purely human emotions, rather than necessarily being under the influence of satan.  But, excessive, distracted worry is something to be concerned about and avoided. Satan wants us not to trust God. Satan wants us to lose faith. Satan wants us to be so-inwardly focused that Grace cannot work.  So, if you’re feeling like you just can’t understand what’s going on in the Church or world, or if you feel overwhelmed by events, I would recommend just backing off for a while and focusing on prayer and the interior life.

Just a quick thought for those who may be struggling right now.

world, Who with the Father and the Holy Spirit livest and reignest, God, world
without end. R. Amen.

I normally try to “buy American,” but in this case I will continue to make an exception. If it is one thing Russians know how to build, it is small arms and ammunition.
