Well, he did have a great deal of help, but the man most directly responsible for the ongoing split in the Episcopal Church USA into warring factions, and the continued flight of more conservative elements of that body to the Anglican and Catholic Church, is retired “bishop” Vicki Gene Robinson.  I use quotes, because Episcopal/Anglican ordinations are extremely doubtful, at best, and the efficacy of Grace working in a man of his moraly depravity and unrepentant sinfulness is equally dubious.

Nevertheless, Vicki Gene (and Lord knows what effect his parents cursing him with that name had on the trajectory of this life) is very upset with the Catholicbishop-gene-robinson Church.  Yes, even though he is responsible for probably a million souls or more departing the episcopals (and many becoming Catholic, Deo Gratias), Vicki Gene is spitting nails, because Archbishop Allen Vigneron of Detroit had the unmitigated temerity to, you know, clearly announce Catholic Doctrine to the souls in his charge, fulfilling one of the minimum duties of his exalted office. Yes, Vicki Gene is frightfully upset, in a veritable tizzy, because Archbishop Vigneron quite rightly reminded the souls of his diocese and the world of St. Paul’s inspired and inerrant word, that it is sacrilege of the highest sort to receive the Blessed Sacrament in a state of grievous sin, and that supporting homosexual “marriage” is such a departure from Catholic belief as to constitute grave, grave sin.  To a man like Vicki Gene, who has spent decades twisting and eviscerating Scripture to suit his immoral lifestyle, such is simpy beyond the pale.  Creative Minority Report, uh…….reports, including this excerpt of Vicki Gene’s pretensions from the Washington Post (I add emphasis and comments):

I believe that using Communion as such a manipulative tool surely profanes the sacrament. [Well, you would, Vicki Gene, because like a good episcopalian, you believe the Sacrament is nothing but a symbol.  Catholics believe it is the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ. God cannot exist in sin.  Those who receive Christ in a state of mortal sin are forcing Christ into sin once again, literally re-crucifying Christ. Therefore, it is actually a profound act of charity to deny someone in grave, public sin the Blessed Sacrament. I would suspect Vicki Gene avoids 1 COR XI] Perhaps these Catholic leaders should revisit their church’s theology of the Eucharist. [As I said, breathtaking arrogance] Reception of the body and blood of Christ at Communion is God’s gift to God’s people, not a reward for right behavior. [Then why did St. Paul say “For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh judgment to himself, not discerning the body of the Lord?”]We receive Communion not because we are worthy of it, but because God’s offers us the body and blood of Christ despite our unworthiness. [This is so manipulatively false as to be diabolical.  For while it is true that God offers us Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament freely, and we cannot but receive it unworthily, it has also always been held by the Church, going back well over a millenium prior to the creation of the Real Presence denying episcopal sect, that one must be in the state of Grace to receive the Blessed Sacrament. See my post on the weepers, the kneelers, the standers, etc. Those guilty of grave sin in the early Church, before Constantine, before the end of the Roman persecutions, were not even allowed into the hallowed ground of the Church itself, but had to kneel outside in sackcloth and ashes weeping and begging prayers from those more fortunate. This statement above is nothing but modernist indifferentism and rotten protestant false theology]

While some are seeking to withhold Communion from pro-choice and pro-marriage-equality Catholics, I have heard no call to withhold Communion from priests and bishops who have engaged in horrific sexual abuse against vulnerable children, nor their enablers. [Cheap shot, but what else would one expect from such a lowlife as Vicki Gene?]  Bernard Cardinal Law, whose administration actively facilitated the moving around of known pedophile priests to other unsuspecting parishes, has not been denied Communion, but instead been rewarded with a prestigious church in Rome. [No, not really, he wasn’t “rewarded” with anything.  He was in fact stripped of his office and forced into retirement. And there is a fundamental failure of logic here, hardly surprising coming from someone as doctrinairre modernist and liberal as this man.  The difference is this: whereas you parade your moral depravity as virtue, and error as truth, Law has not gone around trumpeting how proud he is of his sin.  He did apologize for it, and, I would hope, confessed.]

It seems that the church hierarchy is sending the following message: two gay men or lesbians (not to mention their supporters) who want to vow a lifetime of commitment, monogamy [this is a lie, the vast majority of these relationships are not remotely monogamous, as many homosexual “marriage” themselves have admitted] and love should be denied Communion, but those who exploit vulnerable children (and those who facilitate their abuse) for their own sexual gratification are still welcome. [If they confess their sin, yes. That is the difference: it’s something Vicki Gene can’t seem to understand, but the issue is not so much sin, as repentance. Those who do not repent of grave sin are not fit to receive the Blessed Sacrament. Those who do, are.  This is abundantly supported by Scripture: those who reject God and choose to revel in sin are cast out, but those who repent are welcomed back.  See Lk 15:11-32] Those who make the excruciating and gut-wrenching decision to have an abortion (not to mention those who understand why this might be a moral choice) are barred from receiving Communion, but those prelates who live a lavish lifestyle far from the real-life, harsh circumstances some women face that might make such an abortion morally permissible are accepted at the Communion rail. [This is truly demonic. This man will stoop to any level to justify his sin.  He desperately needs a miracle of Grace]

American Catholics have a long and honorable history of discerning their own consciences in matters of human life and dignity. For instance, 98 percent of Catholic women have gone against church law and used birth control. [This garbage statistic has been abundantly refuted.  Once again, error seeks safety in numbers, but if I recall correctly, the masses of Jerusalem wanted Jesus crucified] Indeed, individual conscience is a core value in Catholic teaching. [You don’t even begin to evidence the necessary theological background to comprehend this very compolicated belief.  Suffice it to say, the Church still believes that error has no rights] It seems that Catholic laity are refusing to be treated like morally ignorant children who cannot think for themselves. [My, my, I would say that Vicki Gene was more than just slightly threatened by this rebuke of his sin, wouldn’t you?  I’d say he’s postively upset. I should also note that Vicki Gene retired far earlier than normal age from his church-destroying position so he could better enjoy the last remaining years of his life as a libertine] At a very minimum, Catholic laity (and many of their local clergy) know that these issues should be discussed in an open and faithful way. [Oh, BS, Vicki Gene. You only favor “discussion” so long as it favors your view.  But when someone, like Archbishop Vigneron, presents the constant belief, 2000 years old and more, of the Church, you immediately try to shut them up.  Give me a break]

Sorry for the long post, but this guy, this whole homosexual attempt to hijack the Faith to their ends, it really disturbs me. I have seen the destruction VickithCA1053RS Gene has wrought, I have seen the pain my family members and many other pious people have experienced at his hands, and I have had enough of it. I will defend the Truth to my dying day, Vicki Gene, and I will continue to remind you that this Truth is a living, breathing repudiation of everything you believe, and all the horrific acts you commit and support. No matter how many people fall into sin and error, no matter how many people you fool into supporting you and your immoral lifestyle, which cries out to Heaven for vengeance, the Truth will remain, and it will continue to haunt you until you face your particular judgment.

It is not “love” to lead people into sin. It is not “charity” to confirm people in immoral lifestyles. But no matter how uncharitable you are to others, no matter how many souls you lead astray, I will  pray for your conversion, although I know it will require a miracle of Grace to achieve it.   Nevertheless, God is Great, and miracles do happen, even to those who hate Jesus Christ and His Church.

After getting over the initial shock, I feel profoundly sorry for Vicki Gene. He is a very lost soul, and I am certain he is greatly tormented by that still, small voice that won’t go away.

Vicki Gene is an old gay guy in a Roman (Episcopal) collar who has led thousands into sin!!!

Aglican orders are more than “doubtful” they are invalid. Pope Leo XIII wrote about it explicitly. Have no doubt in your mind about the illegitimacy of their “ordinations”

skeinster - April 26, 2013

That was true in 1896, and is still true in most cases, but since then some have been ordained by Old Catholic bishops, so it can get complicated. Think ‘valid’, but not ‘licit’.
In those cases, you have to wonder- if they accept that their orders are invalid, why stay? Puzzling.

I left before openly homosexual and women bishops, but the handwriting was certainly on the wall.

There is a horrid fascination in watching destructive leftist Protestants demanding you do as they do. This is why I have the tiny string of deadly sins beads on my big string, to pray for those involved.

This must be so frustrating for you, TE. Prayers.

I was being diplomatic. My entire family outside me is anglican.

Your descriptors in the headline to this article are spot on! “The Breathtaking Arrogance….” Indeed, indeed. And a very confused, sad, and lost little man, well on his way to going where we all pray we’re not going!

Lord have mercy! Is his name really Vicki Gene?

tantamergo - April 26, 2013

Yes, it is.

Without sounding like a jerk, I’ve read some opinion pieces that the Episcopal Church will be gone in 40 years. My understanding is attendance is way down. I’ve even heard of some RCIA programs being filled with former Episcopalians who left their denomination that was down the street.

I’ll have to go by the Episcopal Church in my old neighborhood of Houston and check this out too. 20-25 years ago, I nearly became an Episcopalian. I was lucky to become a Catholic “revert”.

tantamergo - April 29, 2013

They are shrinking badly. Over 2/3 of episcopal churches have less than 100 people listed as members. Sunday service might see 50 people. There are thousands of parishes that need to be closed. I don’t know if they’ll ever go totally away, but they will become a tiny, virtually irrelevant sect. But 40 years sounds about right, there are around 1 million episcopals left, and they lose about 20,000 a year, so in 40 years, if that holds, there won’t be much left.

And the worst part is, the leadership knows all this, and couldn’t care less. They are infinitely more concerned about being good leftists than trying to serve Christ or grow their sect.
