…..and in Texas 3rd most liberal city (after Austin and El Paso), there is a move afoot to bar anyone who has demonstrated “bias” against homosexuals to be barred from city contracts, OR public office!  From a Catholic standpoint, San Antonio is the Los Angeles of Texas:

The San Antonio City Council is doing some housecleaning to combine all of its anti-discrimination rules and ordinances into one. The consolidated ordinance states a desire to adopt a “comprehensive and expanded non-discrimination policy with revisions to outdated terminology.”

According to Pastor Charles Flowers of Faith Outreach International, the city leaders want to add two categories to the policy: sexual orientation and gender identity.“The ordinance also says that if you have at any point demonstrated a bias – without defining what a bias is or who will determine whether or not one has been exercised – that you cannot get a city contract,” he tells OneNewsNow.

Neither can any of your subcontractors [who have demonstrated a bias] sign on to the contract.”Moreover, according to a draft of the revised policy, no one who has spoken out against homosexuality or the transgender lifestyle can run for city council or be appointed to a board. Flowers says the Arizona-based legal firm Alliance Defending Freedom has taken a look at the ordinance.

“They said they’ve never seen this kind of language in any other ordinance in any other city that they’ve dealt with,” the pastor shares. “It martyrdomis unprecedentedly wrong – and of course the citizens of San Antonio must stop it.”

As CMR notes (h/t), this probably has no chance of passing.  But that’s not the point.  The point is that through means small and large, opposition to the redefinition and subsequent destruction of marriage will be punished.  It may not be blunt instruments like this city ordinance; it might instead be that company you want to work for denying you a job, because they check your Facebook and find that in 2012 you signed a petition stating you support marriage as it has always been.  You hater. There will be a thousand different means to force you to comply, to say, “Yes, I think your destruction of marriage is wonderful, as is your unnatural perversion. In fact, it’s better than natural, it’s super-duper natural!”

Who will stand under the persecution?  How many of those who now maintain they will always be stalwart in defense of marriage not only fall, but attack those who adhere to God’s intent and timeless human tradition, telling them what awful, hateful bigots they are, and how the Church has always and only ever been about peace and harmony and love?

Yeah buddy, it’s coming, and it won’t be long now.  Most conservative Catholics probably won’t publicly change their stance, they’ll just quietly ignore the whole subject as much as they possibly can.

Fun times, fun times. As my favorite priest says, we better get prayed up.

San Antonio, never will you find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. There are bright spots to be sure, but certainly do not count on the influx of supposedly very Catholic Hispanics to turn the tide.
