I love you all. You’re great. I especially appreciate all the new regulars that have come on this past year. I pray for abundant blessings for all of you and your families this Christmas and the coming year. May God’s Grace bring you to His Peace and Salvation.

I wanted to leave a kind of parting gift, a good video of a Rorate Mass, but I could not find a really good, professionally produced one.  I would love to see what JMJHFProductions could do with Fr. Rodriguez and a Rorate Mass.

But here are a couple of pretty nice videos I hope you enjoy.  Thank you again and God bless you.

Well, fiddle dee dee, look what I found.  A pretty good video of an entire Rorate.  I love the play of light, shadow, music, and prayer.  Maybe turn down the lights, sit by the fire, and listen to this Mass. Glorious!

Planned Barrenhood’s disgusting 12 days of Christmas December 24, 2013

How can we expect people who make their living killing babies to hold anything sacred?  Planned Barrenhood produced a disastrously unfunny and shockingly blasphemous version of the “12 Days of Christmas” hymn centered around contraception. The first “day” was dedicated to baby-killing Plan B.  These people are sick.

I would love to show the video, but less than 12 hours after it got noticed by pro-lifers, they have removed it.

What’s wrong, Planned Barrenhood, I thought you were true pro-abort, contraceptin’ ideologues.  A little humiliation too much for you?

A few more details of the song:

Leave it to Planned Parenthood to come up with a way to bastardize Christmas with a song that distorts the traditional Christmas song 12 Days of Christmas.

In the version staffers of the Arizona affiliate of the abortion business have come up with, the 12 Days of Contraception, the tune refers to boxes of condoms, Depro-provera shots, spermicide, birth control pills, Nuva rings, dental dams and diaphragms.

As if we needed more confirmation PB was rife with demonic oppression and possession………

We may have started a new Christmas tradition – praying outside a mill December 24, 2013

Praying outside an abortion mill may not be what most people have in mind when it comes to festive, end-of-Advent activities, but, unfortunately, abortion goes on even in the holiest of seasons. To some women/couples, Christmas is apparently a good time to have an abortion. Merry Christmas, indeed, to the babies affected.

Local pro-life forces were mobilized today to pray and sing Christmas carols outside recently reopened Robinson’s abortuary. I feel blessed to have taken part. There were at least two saves, or potential saves, but there was at least one abortion. Robinson’s is particularly horrific, the poor women are just wheeled out almost into the street, into their hopefully waiting ride, sometimes with blood stains and all. No time for recuperation or aftercare, Robinson’s is small and they don’t make money helping women recover. They only make it through butchery of innocent, helpless children.

There was a great crowd. At least 40 faithful souls were present. In fact, the crowd was so big, Robinson’s parking lot was almost empty – the people were parking far away. I think our crowd intimidated them! This large crowd appeared to have played a role in one likely save, as one couple that seemed intimidated by the group of peaceful faithful later on went to the crisis pregnancy center, instead. Another couple also left after briefly entering, and gave us the thumbs up when leaving, all smiles.

Each abortion is a loss of incalculable proportions and gravely wounds the entire world, but each save is a glorious, Grace-filled event.

A few photos of the group:

God bless all of you who came out.  I was inspired. There was a great looking family with seven kids!  God bless them, they even had their little infant out praying, and it was a coooold morning, for Texas anyways (about 29-30 at the beginning, with a 10+ mph wind).  We later saw some of them at Mass.  Awesome.

Robinson’s is distressingly close to our new house.  God willing, we will become fixtures there.

Well, another American icon irredeemably tarnished….. December 21, 2013

Another story via LifeSiteNews, the 2014 Rose Parade will conclude with, you guessed it, a sodomite pseudo-marriage:

It’s the West Coast equivalent of New York’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade – the world-famous Tournament of Roses Parade held each New Year’s Day in the Los Angeles suburb of Pasadena. The parade, featuring giant festive floats colored not with paint, but with millions of fresh-cut flowers, usually draws a huge crowd: Last year, an estimated 800,000 people showed up to watch in person, while another 80 million around the world watched on television.

This year, the event’s viewers will see more than just the family-friendly parade they’ve come to expect over the event’s more than 100-years-long history – they’ll also witness a controversial same-sex “wedding,” courtesy of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF).

According to the Pasadena Star News, a pair of homosexual hair stylists will “marry” on the parade route while riding a wedding-cake shaped float sponsored by the AHF…….

………“Having my relationship recognized legally is already a dream come true,” Leclair said in an AHF press release. “To be able to declare my love to the world at large in hopes of inspiring others to live proudly and authentically is an enormous honor.”

Yet another reason I’m so glad I don’t have a TV anymore. I still miss college football a bit, but it’s a good mortification for me.  Not that Texas has been all that fun to watch the past 4 years, anyways.

I was at a catechism class the other night, and the priest teaching highlighted this point about those lost in sins of sodomy or of Gomorrah: deep down, they know what they do is profoundly wrong, incredibly disordered, offensive to God, and all the rest.  I have written similarly in the past, much of the cultural onslaught in favor of the perverse is about their always present need for affirmation. That affirmation serves to quell those pangs of conscience that afflict the souls lost in these sins that cry out to Heaven for vengeance. But it is never enough.  That is why this homosexual advocacy will be the vehicle of the coming persecution, there is a tendency among these folks to need not just continual, fawning affirmation, but a need to utterly crush any opposition that could serve as a reminder of their sin.  The Church, obviously, will be a major target.

But even with the constant affirmation available today, we still see that especially men lost in this sin tend to have disastrous trends in life-outcomes.  Alcoholism, drug abuse, suicide, incredibly risky sexual activity (if not deliberately seeking self-destruction through acquisition of venereal disease), profound psychological problems, etc., are all massively over-represented in the so-called homosexual population.  This is a circle that cannot be squared.

We heard the progressive spirit of Vatican II types saying the Church could not be  a ghetto (a naked assertion, never justified).  Well, as far as I’m concerned, bring on the ghetto, I’ll always work for the conversion of souls but this culture can go ahead and eat itself, as far as I’m concerned.

We are pre-Christian Rome. And it all happened in a few generations. Amazing.

I haven’t been a Catholic long enough.  I didn’t become a serious Catholic until less than a decade ago.  So, I wasn’t paying attention when much of the craziness occurred in the past.  But I have to say, I have not seen such a heavy, fevered push for changing what I am convinced is unchangeable Dogma since I’ve been committed to practice the Faith.  I am referring to the huge push by the German bishop’s conference to somehow pretend the Blessed Sacrament isn’t the Real Presence, or that sin defined by Christ isn’t sin, by accepting the divorced and remarried (without annulment) to Communion.  This act is a refutation of so much of what the Church believes it is stunning.  That princes of the Church, like the notorious Cardinal Kasper, are advocating for this, is simply stunning.  Especially given the tremendous self-interest that is motivating these bishop’s actions, I am simply left floored.

Lifesitenews has an article relating yet another PR push by Cardinal Kasper which is both breathtaking in its audacity as well as in its intent.  The intent, plainly, is to use the media to coerce the upcoming Synod on marriage and the family to arrive at the conclusion preferred by the German bishops, so that they can continue to receive the fat Church tax that keeps their broken, doctrinally obtuse dioceses afloat:

Despite a recent strongly worded clarification from Rome, confusion is continuing to be stirred up over the Catholic Church’s practice of refusing Communion to those who are divorced and remarried.

A prominent curial cardinal, and favourite of Pope Francis,  [This has been widely misreported.  LSN should do better.  The “favoritism” Pope Francis has shown has to do with a book on spirituality Kasper wrote, not his doctrinal writings.  It was misreported in the press that Francis liked Kasper’s frequently dissenting, highly troubling theology, but that has been refuted.] has defied the Vatican’s doctrinal office, saying that he expects a change.

Cardinal Walter Kasper has said bluntly, and in direct opposition to the head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith (CDF), that the rules will shortly be changed to allow divorced and remarried Catholics to be admitted to Holy Communion.  [Kasper has been saying this garbage for 20 years.  Apparently, he doesn’t think very much of Our Blessed Lord’s commands, nor of the Dogmas made so plain by St. Paul regarding receiving the Blessed Sacrament unworthily.]

In an interview with the German language paper Die Zeit, which was later picked up by Vatican Radio[ I have to ask why Vatican Radio would seemingly help publicize this naked push to change the unchangeable. Someone at the Vatican obviously agrees with Kasper] Cardinal Kasper (who is himself a member of the CDF) said, “Christians who want to live by faith with the Church, who acknowledge that they have made mistakes by the breaking of the first marriage, which they also regret – for them it should be a way back fully to participate in Christian and ecclesial life.” [Well, they could always try to get an annulment, although the German bishops, despite their manifest problems, have not yet made a mockery of the annulment process as has occurred in this country.  The alternative these people have, if they truly have this great hunger for the Blessed Sacrament, is to repent of their bigamist marriages and either strive to save their valid marriage or lead a chaste, single life.  That is what the Church counseled for 2000 years. But in reality, this talk of mercy is nothing but fluff, cover for the real objective – getting more Germans to claim the Catholic Faith on their tax forms, so these bishops who have done so much to destroy the Church in their country can continue getting the monetary benefit of involuntary tax receipts.]

The Church, basing its teaching on Christ’s words in the Gospel of Luke, does not recognize the existence of divorce. Persons who have divorced civilly and remarried, therefore, are considered to be objectively in a state of grave or “mortal” sin as adulterers, and therefore precluded from receiving Communion.

The controversy was rekindled in October this year when the Archdiocese of Freiburg released a document laying out plans to allow divorced and remarried Catholics to receive Holy Communion if they promised to enter “a new moral responsibility” with their new spouse. [What a crock. And what will this “new moral responsibility” entail? “A serious examination of conscience!”  Oh dear, send them to the rack, it would be more merciful!]

In response, Archbishop Gerhard Müller, prefect of the CDF, published an article in the Vatican’s newspaper L’Osservatore Romano saying that the practice of withholding Communion from those in a state of mortal sin would remain in place. This was followed by a letter to the German bishops ordering them to revisit their draft document.

The German bishops responded to this with more defiance, with Bishop Gebhard Fürst of Stuttgart saying in November they had voted to adopt the guidelines and expected them to be approved at their next plenary meeting in March 2014. [If they do so, they will be just as schismatic, if not more so, than the hated SSPX.  This kind of disastrous behavior has not occurred since the 70s.  It is incredibly troubling, but it won’t  be the first time a bishop’s conference has rejected Church Doctrine.  Think of the “Winnipeg statement.”]

[And now we get to what this is really about…….filthy lucre]…….The issue has been a high priority for the German Catholic bishops for whom much of the Church’s funding comes from the Church Tax, in which citizens identify themselves as affiliated with a particular church and the government pays a portion of their income tax to support it. The Catholic Church’s refusal to budge on Communion for divorced and remarried Catholics has cut into Catholic revenues as thousands of Catholics in “irregular” situations have switched their affiliation on tax forms.  [There is nothing to substantiate that claim. I am disappointed the LSN author chose to repeat the German bishop’s talking points]

In 2012, the German bishops’ conference issued a statement that Catholics who did not pay the Church Tax would be refused the sacraments[WAIT!! STOP THE PRESS!! What did he just say?  The German bishops, all about mercy for those in mortal sin, will deny ALL the Sacraments to those who refuse the Church tax?  It’s true, they have made this statement.  Does this not tell us ALL we need to know about the motivations of this conference, almost half of whose members have not publicly called for a change, if not openly repudiated, Church Doctrine on this matter?    German citizens are required to give an affiliation on their tax forms, and the bishops declared that changing the affiliation to one of the Protestant Churches is tantamount to a declaration of apostasy. In 2011, the Catholic Church in Germany received 5 billion euros (approximately $6.84 billion U.S.) from the government. [This tax is a really dumb idea.  It needs to go away, as we see very plainly the terribly mixed motives it creates, and the pressure to cater to the whims of an increasingly atheistic, de-Christianized populace.  Of course, German bishops, historically the very center of the many errors which were unleashed upon the Church before and after Vatican II and the source of almost all the most troubling aspects of the most recent Council, have done quite a bit themselves to drive souls from the Church with their promotion of equivocation and constant undermining of the perennial belief and practice of the Faith.  I think we’ve heard quite enough from them, save for a mantra of mea culpas, for several centuries. I jest, but not much]

The bishops have repeatedly complained of the loss of membership and blame the Church’s refusal to change teachings such as that on divorce, the reservation of priestly ordination to men and clerical celibacy. The German media, however, has pointed to the clerical sex abuse scandals as a major motivator for the refusal of Catholics to continue paying the tax levy. In 2011, 126,488 Catholics asked to be removed from registers.

I think 50 years have sufficiently proved, to all but the most ideological of minds, that orthodoxy leads to all manner of positive results for the Church and souls.  Increased Mass attendance, increased vocations, increased donations, general increase in adherence to the Faith, reception of the Sacraments, etc, etc…..choose any indicator you wish, those places that have adhered to orthodoxy have tended to thrive, or at least decline a lot less, whereas those that embrace the progressive whims of our fallen culture and leftist agitprop tend to experience an accelerating collapse.  The countries with the most progressive bishops have experienced the most profound collapses  in the practice of the Faith over the past 50 years.  Canada, Holland, Germany, Belgium, Austria, France, Spain……the list goes on and on, unfortunately.

It is not an accident that the Church in Africa is the most robust in terms of growth (not that things are just swell, there, either).  The African bishops are also among the most orthodox, overall.

50 years of embrace of left wing shibboleths have left……ahem………the German Church prostrate. Rather than deal with the real causes of the collapse, many of the German bishops appear to be hoping the media pressure they gin up can somehow force the Church to “reform” a Doctrine I, and many Saints, consider irreformable. This to bail them out, even though there is essentially NO evidence that suggests doctrinal leniency will lead to vibrant growth in the Church. As I outlined above, the opposite is really true.

Please pray for the Holy Spirit to intervene!  Take advantage of this last Advent Ember day and offer up prayer and sacrifice!  There is a massive push underway to get this upcoming Synod to rule in favor of the progressives, even though this very matter has already been ruled against repeatedly at other such Synods in the past few decades.  As if the Truth changes!  But we all know the progressives are having their day in the sun, possibly, I pray, their last one. They are trying to force all those changes they’ve always wanted on an unwilling Church.  We must pray for the Holy Spirit to protect the doctrinal integrity of the Church, as He has always done so, before. We must pray for Pope Francis to publicly shoot down this foolishness, soon, before more souls fall into error.  And I don’t know about you, but I will be praying feverishly for the true reform, even conversion, of much of the German bishop’s conference, including Cardinals Marx and Kasper, away from this already repeatedly condemned doctrinal error.

Pray like mad!  Our Lady, have mercy on us, pray for Our Church!  Lord, have mercy on us!  Help us, save us, save all these souls being led into error!  May Your Truth always be proclaimed by Your Church!

Pressure builds for Boy Scouts to collapse completely, and cancel the F-35 December 20, 2013

Suffice it to say, without the massive F-35 contract, Lockheed Martin would probably fold up.  This multi-hundred billion dollar boondoggle, which I wanted cancelled 13-15 years ago (the plan was to build upgraded F-16s and continue F-22 production indefinitely, but USAF wasn’t listening), is the core of LockMart’s income.

And if they are going to take actions like this, demanding the Boy Scouts have openly perverse scoutmasters, they don’t deserve a dime of my taxpayer money:

Defense and aerospace giant Lockheed Martin is halting its donations to the Boy Scouts of America over the organization’s ban on gays serving as adult leaders after a review of the company’s philanthropy guidelines, the company said Thursday.

Lockheed Martin spokesman Gordon Johndroe said the company, which has major operations in North Texas, decided it will not support nonprofit organizations that do not align with its corporate policies or commitment to diversity. The company did not disclose how much it has contributed to the Boy Scouts.

Bethesda, Md.-based Lockheed follows UPS Inc., Merck & Co. and computer-chip maker Intel in withdrawing support for the Boy Scouts over its no-gays policy in the past two years.

In a written statement, Johndroe said Lockheed seeks to support nonprofit groups that value diversity.

“We believe engaging with and funding an organization that openly discriminates is in conflict with our policies,” he said. “While we applaud the mission of the Boy Scouts and the good things they do in our communities, their policies that discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation and religious affiliation conflict with Lockheed Martin policies.”

And this is how the monstrous cultural peer-pressure works.  Once the federal government decides to assign special recognition to any group, all federal contractors have to comply with those provisions.  Since so many companies do business with our mammoth, out of control federal behemoth, that means many people, perhaps even most, wind up working for companies that develop avowed policies designed to advance leftist political correctness.  Which is funny when a defense contractor does it, because that same leftist political correctness is driving government wealth transfer expenditures that are completely consuming the federal budget and putting the defense budget under more and more pressure.  But such is the power of the federal behemoth, and the pernicious influence of the cultural left, that giant contractors like LockMart will take actions that are to their long-term detriment in order to maintain the good graces of the politicized federal bureaucracy in the near term.

Thus, so many of us will come under pressure from our very employers to accept and promote gross immorality. And those employers will use their taxpayer financed wealth to further the advance of cultural leftism on its march through the institutions.

At this point, I really don’t care, I think our military has fallen seriously behind the times and is being increasingly out-thought and out-maneuvered by its East Asian adversary.  Our military is too worried about complying with onerous, capability-consuming leftist cultural objectives than with its military objectives. I don’t think a semi-stealthy aircraft cobbled together to perform mutually exclusive missions and with performance compromises that entails (M1.5 top speed – really?  That means a M0.75 effective top speed in real life. How will they cooperate with F-22s going over twice as fast?) is going to make a difference at this point.  Cancel the F-35, and get LockMart out of the cultural lobbying business.

This is how empires die.  Perhaps it’s long overdue.

One final note.  The cultural left will never be satisfied with anything but complete collapse on the matters of sexual morality from such formerly stalwart defenders of the Christian ethos as the Boy Scouts.  They will be satisfied with nothing less than complete capitulation, and then will eagerly sue the Boy Scouts out of existence when the inevitable boy rapes occur – unless the Boy Scouts, like the Girl Scouts, become little Communist Pioneers, serving as socialist shock troops to inculcate Marxism in the coming generations.  Then, they will get a pass, but they will have then become the very antithesis of what they were created to be.

Pope strongly requests curial officials to hear confessions weekly December 19, 2013

And when the Pope “strongly requests,” it’s pretty much a demand.  Good for Pope Francis.  This is wonderful, I am heartened to see him not just exhorting priests and bishops to hear confessions regularly, but to take a step as Bishop of Rome to get those under his See to actually DO it:

Pope Francis has strongly encouraged the bishops and cardinals of the Roman Curia to spend time hearing confessions weekly at a local parish, according to a priest of the church in question, Santo Spirito in Sassia.

The announcement was made at the end of evening Mass on Dec. 15 by Fr. Jozef Bart, a parish priest at Santo Spirito in Sassia, and was reported by “Inside the Vatican.”

Fr. Bart announced that the initiative “had been planned to begin in January, but this week, word came down that the Pope wished to begin immediately.”

According to Fr. Bart, Pope Francis is doing this because “he wishes to emphasize the importance of Confession, and of God’s great goodness in forgiving human sin.”

Archbishop Konrad Krajewski, the papal almoner, has already been hearing Confessions at the parish for “several weeks,” according to “Inside the Vatican.”

Santo Spirito in Sassia is located on the Via dei Penitenzieri, a walk of about 1,300 feet, or 5-6 minutes, from the front of St. Peter’s Square, and is dedicated to the Divine Mercy devotion. It is a cardinal titular church, currently held by Cardinal-Priest Fiorenzo Angelini.

Pope Francis has several times underscored the importance of the Confession for Christian life, especially during the homilies he gives during Mass at the Saint Martha House chapel.

On Oct. 25, Pope Francis preached that “confessing our sins is not going to a psychiatrist, or to a torture chamber: it’s saying to the Lord, ‘Lord, I am a sinner,’ but saying it through the brother, because this says it concretely. ‘I am sinner because of this, that and the other thing’.” [Good points. I’ve never felt attacked or ostracized in the confessional.  I have sometimes felt scandalized, when a liberal priest says something terrible, but I’ve never been told “oh, you’re a terrible sinner, damn you!,” or anything of the sort.  The great confessors I have access too now are extremely good in their mercy AND correction.  That is a tremendous blessing.]

Pope Francis often affirms that he himself is a sinner, and has made it known that he goes to Confession every two weeks.

I am all for this.  Confession is the great, ignored Sacrament of the post-conciliar age.  This is a tremendous shame, because regular Confession (and reception of the Blessed Sacrament) are absolutely essential to growth in the interior life.  You simply cannot advance in virtue without examination of conscience and regular Confession.

I pray every day that every bishop of the world will demand of his priests three things:

  1. 2 hours of Confession in every parish of every diocese of the world, every day, 365 days a year, every year
  2. At least one TLM in every deanery of every diocese of the world, every day
  3. At least one TLM in every parish of the world, every Sunday.

You do that, and things will soon be right with the Church.  Especially the first one.  I pray Pope Francis exhorts these bishops and cardinals to hear confessions DAILY, because such is a tremendous spiritual work of mercy on the part of the prelate or priest, which will in turn spur further spiritual development in them.  Confession should be a foundational part of every priest’s life (including bishops), right up there with offering Mass and praying the Office, preferably daily.  Most of the great priest-Saints were recognized as great and zealous confessors, men who were willing to spend many hours a day in the confessional.  Think of the good that does souls!  Think how many souls are delivered from the eternal fire by this great Sacrament!

I pray every bishop in the entire world follow’s Pope Francis’ example, and gets all their priests hearing confessions daily!

Keep those papal Novenas going!  They are working!  Nothing is set in stone, yet.  With great prayer and sacrifice on our part, Pope Francis could be remembered as the most saintly, orthodox pope since Pius X!  Grace can overcome everything!

Devotion to Our Lady of Sorrows by Fr. Ripperger December 19, 2013

Thanks to reader TB for the links!  It helps me be lazy!

First, a long talk explicating the Seven Sorrows of Our Blessed Mother:

Some reasons to call on Our Lady of Sorrows:

1) Conversion of family members by blocking demons’ influence

2) When you need patience in suffering

3) To overcome any trial or habitual sin (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFHjtaGtnM4)

4) If you are wounded from your sins or the sins of others

5) Protection from evil (she has perfect coercive power of demons)

6) If you need to know hidden knowledge for the good of another or about yourself

St. Alphonsus Liguori, in his book The Glories of Mary mentioned a revelation in which St. John the Evangelist saw both Our Lord and His Blessed Mother after her assumption into heaven. He heard Mary ask Jesus for some special grace to all those who are devoted to her dolors (sorrows). Christ promised the four following special graces:

1) That those who before death invoked the divine Mother in the name of her sorrows should obtain true repentance of all their sins.

2) That He would protect all who have this devotion in their tribulations, and that he would protect them especially at the hour of their death.

3) That He would impress upon their minds the remembrance of His Passion, and that they should have their reward for it in heaven.

4) That he would commit such devout clients to the hands of Mary, with the power to disposed of them in whatever manner she might please, and to obtain for them all the graces she might desire.

For her part, Our Blessed Mother revealed to St. Bridget of Sweden that she grants the following seven graces to the souls who honor her daily by saying seven Hail Mary’s while meditating on her tears and dolors (sorrows):

1) “I will grant peace to their families.”

2) “They will be enlightened about the divine Mysteries.”

3) “I will console them in their pains and I will accompany them in their work.”

4) “I will give them as much as they ask for as long as it does not oppose the adorable will of my divine Son or the sanctification of their souls.”

5) “I will defend them in their spiritual battles with the infernal enemy and I will protect them at every instant of their lives.”

6) “I will visibly help them at the moment of their death—they will see the face of their mother.”

7) “I have obtained this grace from my divine Son, that those who propagate this devotion to my tears and dolors will be taken directly from this earthly life to eternal happiness, since all their sins will be forgiven and my Son will be their eternal consolation and joy.”

How could I forget – Our Lady of Expectation! December 19, 2013

I am sooo mad at myself!  Yesterday was THE day to re-publish my favorite image of the Blessed Mother, a glorious statue of Our Lady of the Expectation from Catholic Spain (it so breaks my heart, how Spain, for centuries THE most Catholic country (ok, maybe Italy) has now become just another sexular pagan European country).

So, here are some beautiful images of Our Blessed Mother, in belated honor of Our Lady of the Expectation:
