Over the weekend, I saw a chilling, horrendous scene from Syria of a Christian being made to apostasize – making the oath that “there is no god but fake allah and mohammad is his fake messenger” – and then being beheaded anyways.
It was so sad on so many levels. There is an extremely, disgustingly graphic video of this barbarity. I won’t put it on my blog. I’ve seen it, but I don’t want want to put it on here. If you really want to see it – and I must tell you, these muslims, they must love being evil, because when they cut off someone’s head, they don’t use a sword and do it in one fell swoop, or even a particularly sharp knife, they take their time about it, so the poor soul actually has time to suffer and even try to resist a bit before expiring – it’s below:

These monsters actually say they’re not going to shoot him because that would be too merciful. I saw some folks criticizing the guy for apostasizing, but courage to resist dozens of armed thugs saying they’ll kill you is supernatural. I pray God is merciful to this poor person.
The reason I’m showing this is because, this may be a fringe movement in islam, but it’s not that fringe. There are millions of muslims who support, actively or passively, this kind of nightmarish extremism. To many in islam, these are the “best” muslims. The entire history of islam is one rife with mindless killing, barbarity, cruelty, backwardness, ignorance, and, more than anything, diabolical hostility towards Christians.
Which is why I have to say what I’m going to say – I wish every prelate in the Church who makes indifferentist statements (and acts) regarding islam would have to sit down for an hour or so to watch such videos (and there are plenty of them) and pray and meditate on what they are doing with their claims that “islam is the religion of peace,” or that “islam is a salvific religion like Christianity.”
For centuries, the Church knew better. For centuries, the Church knew the greatest mortal threat to Christians came from islam. For centuries, Christians died at the hands of muslims. For centuries, muslim preyed on Christians with no provocation. But when Christians, after years of suffering endless cruelties and abuses, finally responded with an offensive to take back former Christian lands – oh, well, this is something to apologize over.
Of course not all muslims are violent, of course there are aspects of islam that are inoffensive, but the history of islam indicates a false religion relentlessly hostile to the Church and far too frequently all human decency.
Church leaders, y0u can talk all you want with muslims, but its pointless and scandalous. They only take it as a sign of weakness and foolishness. I have a very hard time not agreeing. I also have a very hard time not seeing such “ecumenism” as strong indications of weak faith and overt worldliness, but who am I to judge?
The only ecumenism islam has ever understood is the sword.
