More sermons from Good Shepherd Sunday May 8, 2014

I had meant to do a “thing” this week where I would post a different Good Shepherd Sunday sermon from this same priest for every day of the week. That pretty much fell through when I got sick, but I’ll muddle on by posting two sermons today.
I realize the ones I posted Monday were a bit repetitive. I think these have quite different emphases and are very worth listening to in their entirety.
If nothing else, you’ll learn more about raising sheep, should economic collapse/leftist policies force us to revert to a 19th century existence. So, every day, the practical utility of the intro to all these sermons only increases/
First up, a sermon on the value and purpose of suffering:
The second sermon is on the need to increase knowledge of the Faith. Strengthening our faith is key to growth in the interior life. While the internet has made being a good, pious soul much more difficult in many regards, it has opened up huge vistas of learning for those who will eschew the internet’s million bordellos for its quiet Catholic libraries of Saint books, holy sermons, and good lectures:
I pray you find these useful!

These really should have gone out Monday, but I did not get to itand then I was out for two days, so it is now well and truly late, but here you go, anyway. Go back in time, and begin your Novena to Our Lady of Fatima last Monday!
Feast of Our Lady of Fatima is May 13
Recite this prayer for 9 days…
Most Holy Virgin,
who has deigned to come to Fatima
to reveal to the three little shepherds
the treasures of graces hidden in the recitation of the Rosary,
inspire our hearts with a sincere love of this devotion,
so that by meditating on the mysteries
of our redemption that are recalled in it,
we may gather the fruits
and obtain the conversion of sinners,
the conversion of Russia,
and this favor that I so earnestly seek….
(State your request here…)
which I ask of you in this novena,
for the greater glory of God,
for your own honor,
and for the good of all people.
Amen,
Recite the following prayers…
3 Our Father…
3 Hail Marys…
3 Glory Be…
You could also start this Novena October 4/5.
I do not think Our Lady will mind terribly if you start the Novena today! Just do the full 9 days!
We are witnessing the Church at war with itself – UPDATED May 8, 2014

I am curious that I was sick the past two days, when so much disturbing news broke, of cardinals rebuking each other, of incredible proclamations being made in the name of the Pope, of stern words being directed at female religious so heretical they no longer merit the name Christian, let alone Catholic, and much else besides. It has been stunning catching up on the events of the past two days. I am floored and flabbergasted. I assume many of you are up to speed, but if not, a brief recap of events:
- Cardinal Muller, Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, criticizes, and, in a diplomatic sense, denounces, the arch-heretics at the Leadership Conference of Women’s Religious in the starkest terms yet seen. The Cardinal basically claims that the LCWR ceased being Catholic long ago and must undertake a sudden and dramatic conversion or their organization may – or will – be squashed by the Holy See.
- But then arch-modernist Cardinal Walter Kasper rebukes Cardinal Muller and publicly praises, at least by proxy, the LCWR.
- Cardinal Kasper also gave a recent interview in which he claims the Church is “not against birth control at all.”
- Then Cardinal Baldisseri, recently appointed by Pope Francis to serve as President of the Synod of Bishops (and given a red hat) and charged with leading the upcoming Extraordinary Synod on the Family claims that he favors seeing a “change” in the Dogma regarding bigamists – those manifestly persisting in a public state of grave and in many cases mortal sin – receiving the Blessed Sacrament.
- Cardinal Kasper followed the above incredible statements with a disastrously dangerous quote, in which Kasper claims that Pope Francis told him that “50% of all marriages are not valid.” Even if true, the pastoral implications of such a statement are mind-blowing, and likely to only encourage those in adulterous relationships to approach the Blessed Sacrament
So, on the one hand, we see what might be the beginning of a long and tragically overdue action on the part of the CDF against women religious who have utterly wrecked their orders and take a sick pride in their very public rejection of the Faith. But that is more than offset by the destruction and diabolical disorientation wrought by others – people very close to the Pope and publicly praised by him!
We now have public statements from a significant number of prelates either raised to high positions by Pope Francis, or given strong and public support for their not just novel, but I would even say destructive (and I would say more than that, but will hold my peace for now) views.
And yet this is not all. We also have a sermon given just a few days ago by Pope Francis, in which he, once again, puts completely at odds the Church as it existed and taught for centuries (or millenia), and his vision of what “true Christianity” is. Or, at the very least, the Pope makes statements that are exceedingly easily interpreted as pitting the Church against Herself, Her past self. And, I might add, this opposition is based on seemingly deeply entrenched false dichotomies held by many modernists:
We are not a ‘religion’ of ideas, of pure theology, beautiful things, of commandments. No, we are a people who follow Jesus Christ and bear witness – who want to bear witness to Jesus Christ- and sometimes this witness leads to laying down our lives.
The Church is fruitful and a mother when she witnesses to Jesus Christ. Instead , when the church closes in on itself , when it thinks of itself as a – so to speak – ‘school of religion’, with so many great ideas, with many beautiful temples, with many fine museums, with many beautiful things, but does not give witness, it becomes sterile.
It is absolutely incredible to me that anyone, let alone the Supreme Pontiff, would claim that there is some irreconcilable dichotomy between having Commandments, adhering to the Truth revealed by Scripture and Tradition, and giving witness! This seems a pointed rebuke of all the theology of the great Saints Aquinas and Liguori, brilliant minds like Bossuet and Sanchez, and so many others besides. I am aghast that any Catholic would say this, let alone the Holy Father!
There is nothing irreconcilable between BEAUTY and WITNESS! Beauty is it’s own witness! Is this not an incredibly reductive vision?
Aye, it is. But it is also a vision completely in line with the thinking of those progressive modernists who seized control of the Church after Vatican II. This is the whole “poor pilgrim church” so beloved of modernists. And more.
Is it just me, or has there been any other pope in recent history who takes so many shots at the best, most committed Catholics, constantly telling them “you’re doing it all wrong.” I have my problems with Opus Dei, but many are seeing in a different part of the sermon a severe rebuke of that organization, which constitutes the bulk of the orthodox (if not traditional) faithful in much of the world, especially the Spanish-speaking world. The quote was something to the effect of: “Are numeraries of this sect fruitful because they do testify or remain sterile because they are not able to let the Holy Spirit lead them forward in a Christian vocation?” This was in reference to the “numerary” of Opus Dei, lay people who take a vow of celibacy, something the Church has embraced, supported, and cherished since Her earliest days.
Likewise, doctrinal orthodoxy, and WITNESS to that orthodoxy, is something the Church has cherished since Her inception. Augustine is a Doctor due to his theology! So are all the other doctors! And they gave WITNESS to that theology!
Enough. Black masses, gnostic lesbians calling themselves “nuns,” a pope chastising the most faithful Catholics while giving a pass (if not an overt embrace) to those persisting in grave sin……is it just me, or is just about everything upside down right now?
UPDATE: Much more here, at Rorate. My admittedly amateur opinion is that Kasper is a manifest heretic, and quite close to being a formal one. This particular quote just made me grind my teeth:
If you have a problem with the leadership of the women’s orders, then you have to have a discussion with them, you have to dialogue with them, an exchange of ideas,” he said. “Perhaps they have to change something. Perhaps also the Congregation (for the Doctrine of the Faith) has a little bit to change its mind. That’s the normal way of doing things in the church. I am for dialogue.
You are for dialogue, because you are a MODERNIST.
“We should be in communion,” he continued, “which also means in dialogue with each other. I hope all this controversy will end in a good, peaceful and meaningful dialogue.”
Yes, “dialogue,” where modernist heresies are allowed to sprout and grow, unchecked save for an occasional minor comment from Rome, consigning millions of souls to hell, forever. But Cardinal Kasper doesn’t believe in hell, now, does he, because an infinitely merciful God would never be so cruel as to consign anyone to hell.
Looks like local abortion docs will get their privileges May 8, 2014

I have written before about the ongoing lawsuit between local abortionists and University General Hospital (UGH) of South Oak Cliff, regarding UGH’s revocation of privileges for these abortionists. The baby murderers are suing to force UGH to give them admitting privileges. Forcing someone to give a privilege, especially one with such implications for the hospital itself, seems to make a mockery of the term, but apparently Judge Ken Molberg, the Dallas County judge who is hearing the case, opined at an earlier hearing that he thinks the case a slam dunk in the abortionists favor.
Would he say such if the hospital were Baylor or UT Southwestern? The hearing has been postponed until June 10.
So what are some concrete reasons why UGH might deny admitting privileges to the two abortionists suing, rather than just opposition to abortion? Well, both abortionists involved – Lamar Robinson and Jasbir Ahluwalia, have been sued for malpractice numerous times, and have wound up performing abortions because there is literally no other avenue left for them to practice as “doctors.” I don’t have a handy list of cases against Robinson, but I do have a partial list of Ahluwalia’s history, and it’s not a pretty sight:
Dr. Jasbir Ahluwalia was sued by a husband and wife who alleged that he caused severe and permanent brain damage to their child during delivery. At 6 years, the boy was determined to have the mental functioning of a 4-week-old. Dr. Ahluwalia settled the suit in 1989 for more than $1.3 million. In the course of the suit, lawyers for the couple raised questions about the quality of Dr. Ahluwalia’s medical training, much of which he received in Uganda. The medical board took no action. [You will see that phrase like a refrain as you read.]
In March 1991, a Dallas woman sued him, accusing the doctor of perforating her uterus during an abortion. As a result, surgeons had to remove her uterus. That same year, another Dallas woman sued him. She, too, said he perforated her uterus during an abortion. Dr. Ahluwalia settled both suits in 1993. The medical board took no action on either one.
In 1995, he was sued by an Erath County woman on whom Dr. Ahluwalia had performed a hysterectomy. She alleged that he mistakenly blocked a ureter with stitches. So severe were the complications that, four months later, another surgeon had to remove her kidney. Had she known of Dr. Ahluwalia’s prior problems, patient Linda Runnels said recently, “I wouldn’t have used him for sure.” Her suit was settled. The medical board took no action. In 1996, Dr. Ahluwalia finally felt the state’s regulatory wrath. The medical board said it acted because Dr. Ahluwalia had lost his privileges at Harris Methodist Erath County Hospital. The privileges had been pulled because he “failed to adequately manage various high-risk pregnancies.” [Oh, so it seems hospitals CAN revoke privileges! Someone page Judge Mohlberg] No mention was made of the lawsuits, and the discipline was minimal. Board members voted to restrict his license for one year, requiring him to take 50 hours of continuing medical education and keep adequate patient records. And he was ordered to subscribe to the journal Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Ahluwalia, 63, has since closed his gynecology practice in Stephenville. He now works at the Routh Street Women’s Clinic, which was cited in a recent 1-year eval at least for the following two abuses: 1. Did not report statutory rape of a 13-yr-old by a 24-yr-old man. 2. Told minor she should tell her mom, but did not take action to report it. He also worked during that time at the Whole Women’s Health Clinic in Fort Worth, which was cited in the same investigation for at least the following three abuses: 1. HIPAA violations. 2. Illegal dumping of biohazard/medical waste 3. Right to Know law’s information openly mocked and said to be untrue.
As I understand it, this is a very partial list. The abortion industry has gotten much more sophisticated in how it quickly hushes up and settles claims.
Irrespective, with a history like that, and highly questionable medical credentials from a country like Uganda, it would seem to me that UGH has a very strong argument against granting privileges to this abortionist. But we’ll see.
Remember Judge Molberg’s name at election time. He is a big lib democrat and a big friend of trial lawyers. He is up for re-election next year. He serves in the 95th judicial district court.
Ultimate evil: Harvard plans to permit satanic “black mass” May 8, 2014

I have been out the past two days due to a pretty nasty little bug, so many have probably seen this already. It seems Harvard University is going to allow a satanic “black mass” on campus. Early reports indicated a consecrated Host would be used for this Mass. Even though the leaders of this ultimate blasphemy now claim it will not be a consecrated Host, I am virtually certain they are lying. Just as you cannot have a Mass without a consecration, so you cannot have a black mass without a desecration. The satanic leaders are simply lying to try to defuse righteous outrage. DO NOT FALL FOR IT!
Good Catholics of Massachusetts and the surrounding area, this nightmare of sacrilege and blasphemy against Our Blessed Lord cannot be allowed to happen! I was told that there are indications that a protest effort is gearing up, and perhaps more, perhaps some more active intervention to prevent the ultimate profanation of the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Our Lord Jesus Christ. We really have no way of knowing whether the Host is consecrated or not, and I don’t think we should take a satanist’s word for it that It is not. Details:
The Harvard Extension Cultural Studies Club is allegedly hosting a black mass on May 12 to be staged by The Satanic Temple and which will include a consecrated host.
According to a press release from The Satanic Temple, they plan on presenting the black mass at the Queens Head Pub in Memorial Hall, 45 Quincy Street, Cambridge, MA along with “an academic narration that explores the ritual’s unique history and practice.”
Priya Dua, of The Satanic Temple’s Public Relations office confirmed to us in an e-mail that “Yes, there will be a consecrated host at the black mass.”
I have not seen a time for this sacrilege listed. Does anyone know?!? As I said, I’ve been out of it for the past two days, so I am not up to speed on all the revelations, but THIS. MUST. NOT. HAPPEN.
Folks, if we really believe what we say we believe, that Jesus Christ Incarnate becomes Present in the Host at the Consecration, we simply cannot allow the desecration to take place! At these Masses, Christ is deliberately blasphemed and made to suffer Crucifixion all over again. If I were within 200 miles of this gravest of all evils, I would be there. I pray pray pray that many people get to Harvard, make a great deal of noise, and somehow keep this from happening.
I see that some priests have already opined that Communion in the hand makes things like this much more possible. Yes, it certainly does, Communion in the hand makes obtaining a consecrated Host to defile a trivial exercise for satanists and others lost in the most unimaginable evils. Communion in the hand in general has led to more profanations of the Blessed Sacrament, either through neglect or abuse, in the past 50 years than have occurred in the entire prior history of the Church. I am gladdened that some priests have apparently already contacted Rome about this incident, pleading that the disastrous indult to receive Our Infinitely Glorious Lord with all the reverence of taking a cookie will be withdrawn.
I wonder, will this satanic group describe the ritual rape of a young virgin at this “descriptive” black mass that normally occurs at these evil events? It is incredible how evil this culture is becoming. Folks, this is just the beginning, people are not just going over to some sort of benign, “rational, enlightened” atheism, they are rapidly going over in large numbers to Christ-hating neo-pagan barbarism. We be in for some rough times ahead.
Has anyone asked if Harvard will permit a Solemn High Mass of reparation should the blasphemy occur? What formal responses are planned by the Archdiocese of Boston? See what wonderful fruit 50 years of indifferent dialogue has won us! And especially in Boston, where 20th century modernist indifferentism first took deep root in the pre-conciliar Church!
This blasphemy points up so much of what is so very, very wrong in the post-conciliar Church. All the self-serving conceits and soul-destroying lies of the modernists are laid bare by events like this. Lord, have mercy on us. Certainly, engage in prayers of reparation, but to repeat, if you life anywhere near Cambridge, and you love Our Eucharistic Lord, take time out to do whatever you can to stop this nightmare from occurring.
I would add one more bit: in times past, satanists always had to conduct their blasphemies under cloak and dagger conditions, because if Catholics had gotten wind of a black mass occurring, the satanists would have been either pummeled or prevented, or both. Now, are we so cold in faith, that satanists can desecrate the Blessed Sacrament – or even simulate doing so (I strongly doubt this will be the case, do you really think a satanist would not LIE?!?) – out in full public view, with nary a concern over a reaction.
There need to be THOUSANDS at Harvard on Monday, protesting this.
