My wife found this and sent it to me.  It’s a really lovely video of a contemplative Dominican order in Lockport, Louisiana.  When I was trying to compile a list of traditional women’s religious orders, I think I missed this one. I should say, I have confirmed they assist only at the 1962 Mass and that they use the pre-conciliar Breviary.

So, here is another traditional women’s religious order for those of you contemplating religious life:

Clothing is such a beautiful ceremony!  It is such a blessing for these nuns to open their cloister to show others a bit of their life.  I pray this monastery continues to grow and grow.  It has actually be around for almost 140 years.

Wonderful!

How can one donate to this traditional contemplative Dominican Order? Please let me know at dowd@comcast.net. Prayer seems the right and maybe only answer to today’s problems.

There is a link to Wikipedia in the post. In the wikipedia post I think there is a link to a Xanga page that has contact info for this order.

I can understand their desire to withdraw from social media, but someone should set them up for PayPal donations and prayer requests along with an old fashioned fax number where those of us who use VOIP based Fax machines can fax them prayer requests, words of encouragement and notes of our prayerful support.

The former Chaplain enjoyed your blog immensely, in fact he is the one who told me about your blog.

ps The Sisters are very poor and lead a strict penitial life. The founders now deceased came from the Dominican Convent in Texas. Mother Angelica visited them often. Many prophecies stipulate that it will be one of two areas in the states that the Holy Sacrifice will still take place, the other one being somewhere in New Mexico. My friend keep this in mind in the future.

Wow. Frightening prophecies.

Thank you for the note of appreciation!

Tantumblogo:

I recall several weeks ago you did a post on finding some Traditional Religious Orders for Women. That’s why I am sending you the information below.

About a month ago, I heard a broadcast on Catholic Radio about the Marian Sisters of Santa Rosa. They have an interesting history. Within the past ten years, the founders broke away from the sedevacantists and reconciled with Rome. They frequently assist at the Traditional Latin Mass (two to four days a week).

Their website is: http://www.mariansisters.com/

Tantumblogo, was pretty impressed with what I heard. More on their history can be found in this article from Catholic World Report:

Those ladies who wear the habit, vocations are booming, and not all the sisters are senior citizens.

Thank you, this is also helpful.

Those sisters have offered retreats for our students. They are beautiful ladies… Interesting story with them…. They are, of course, the sisters Of Santa Rosa. I believe they started in Washington. When Bishop Vasa came to Santa Rosa Diocese in northern CA he asked them to come to Santa Rosa. :-). Coincidence? Sure, yeah… Right….
