Francis’ February Prayer Intentions Nearly as Bad as January’s February 8, 2016

This month, instead of the promotion of religious indifference masquerading as “dialogue” and understanding, we get a lecture on environmentalism. Once again, no call to prayer, but demands to change one’s manner of living, or, perhaps, vote the “right” way.  The ethos, the philosophy conveyed is thoroughly left-wing and overwhelmingly secular.  We are to be “freed from the slavery of consumerism,” apparently, by embracing unspecified “care for the environment.”  Otherwise, mother Gaia, the vengeful goddess, will smite us all in her hideous wrath:

I’m not sorry to say this, because it’s so obvious: this video, supposedly conveying prayer intentions!, has all the depth and impact of an Amnesty International commercial you’ve seen 400 times.  It is stunning in its banality and ineffectiveness, stifling in its promotion of left-wing shibboleths.

I’m blogging on this, because it’s more than rhetoric, it’s a form of action, carefully communicating to the world a very much different image of the Church than what has been presented heretofore.  There have certainly been prayer intentions from popes in the past few decades that were more worldly and less inspiring at times.  But never such a naked advocacy of what amounts to a form of politicking.  I think that’s what being pointed at here, because individual souls rarely have the ability to have a great deal of impact on environmental policy.

Sure, we can all recycle or ride a bike or a bus or whatever, but such will do very little to decrease, say, global CO2 output, if that were even a problem (and it’s not).  Making a large impact on the environment typically requires governmental action, and I think that’s more than hinted at in the “prayer intention.”  We all know which parties are associated with this kind of extreme concern over the state of the environment, and they are rarely the right wing ones.  Voting for such parties is frequently viewed as the best kind of contribution an individual can make to such an ostensible global “crisis.”

Maybe I’m reading too much into this, but I don’t think the political dimension can be overlooked.  I say this as someone who recycles more than anyone else on his street, by far, and who generally does have some concern over the responsibility we have towards the created gifts God has given us.  My wife was an environmental engineer, for crying out loud.  But this pseudo-prayer intention thing is really more progressive virtue signalling and moral posturing than anything else, to my mind.

It’s much safer to live on a toxic dump site than it is to be “gay” February 8, 2016

So said the reformed “gay” and celibate Joseph Sciambra on his blog recently.  He notes several dire statistics concerning men drawn to sodomize other men, which make clear that this lifestyle is far more dangerous to one’s health than living on top of a toxic waste dump (in this case, Love Canal) for years.  Please note, this post deals with very explicit subject matter, children and those with delicate consciences should not read:

Condom use is declining among men who have sex with men. In a large survey of MSM in major urban areas, nearly two-thirds reported having condomless anal sex at least once during the past year, and a quarter said they had receptive anal intercourse without a condom the last time they had sex with a man. [It was only a matter of time.]

  • 67% of HIV-positive men reported condomless anal sex with a male partner;
  • 65% of HIV-negative men reported condomless anal sex with a male partner;
  • when asked about their most recent sexual encounter, 26% of HIV-negative MSM and 20% of HIV-positive MSM reported only having had oral sex;
  • of HIV-negative men aged 18-24, over 28% reported condomless receptive anal intercourse;………
  • in comparison, the CDC estimates that there are 1,218,400 people in the US infected with HIV; that is approximately 0.37% of the total population; that means – in some “gay” communities, the HIV rates are nearly 95X higher than in the general population; at the infamous Love Canal toxic dump site in New York State the risk of cancer was only 1.7-2 times higher than in neighboring areas and birth defects were 3.4 times higher than in the rest of the country.

Other damning statistics from a different post:

The UK-based FS Magazine, a gay men’s health and life periodical, surveyed over 1000 “gay” men in Britain and discovered that:

  • “41% are in, or have previously experienced, an open relationship.”

More findings – of those men in an “open” relationship:

  • “93% strongly disagree that ‘open relationships are not real relationships.’”
  • “31% believe relationships end up open because gay men can’t be monogamous. However 47% think that it’s quite possible to have an monogamous relationship but choose not to;”
  • “Over two thirds of the men we surveyed who are currently in an open relationship said they don’t use condoms with their partner – although 64% say they always use condoms with casual partners. 55% have picked up an STI during their open relationship, with 70% believing they got that STI from a casual partner.”

I could not find the below on Sciambra’s site, but reader MJD sent me the following, which apparently came from it, regarding yesterday’s Super Bowl halftime show featuring the diabolical Beyonce:

“I attended a talk given by local exorcist Priest Fr. Gary Thomas last week in San Francisco – almost as an aside, he mentioned that Beyonce is involved with satanism and that her Superbowl half-time show (from 2013) was littered with demonic imagery; there was an audible gasp from the audience; 2 years ago I wrote about Beyonce’s collaboration with a child pornographer; Beyonce will be at the SB again this year; please do not watch the Superbowl, which is really an occult ceremony interrupted by a sporting event; BTW – Lady Gaga will offer up this country as a blood sacrifice to hell by singing the National Anthem…Enjoy the cultural decline.”

Not sure how he arrives at the Lady Gaga blood sacrifice thing, but who am I to judge question?  It’s not like I doubt it.

And yet we are now taught that this is perfectly normal, and even better than normal, a positive good we should all accept as wonderful and even strive to emulate as fundamentally better than we are now, or were raised to be.  This is nothing but the acting out of the massive confirmation bias prevalent – one might say omnipresent – among the self-anointed sexular pagan elite.  They desire the destruction of the family as an institution, as it is the primary obstacle to the complete reordering of society that they seek.  It is  nothing more than the same old reordering the communist/hard left has always sought, but they have found the ultimate means of bringing it about by attacking masculinity, fatherhood, the conception of self, and the family.  Unfortunately, in spite of the obviousness of the gambit to those with eyes to see, they have been amazingly, spectacularly successful.

The cost to souls and society at large has been incalculable.  Joseph Sciambra is just one case in point, there are millions more like him (including myself), who have bought the lies the sexular pagans have sold.  We have been blessed, by the Grace of God, to reject those lies and strive to follow the narrow way of Jesus Christ.  But we are the rare minority.  Such a tragedy.  An even greater tragedy is the rarity of leaders in the Church who are willing to confront this evil, to name it and shame it, as it were, and to lead souls away from its many seemingly attractive enticements.

Russians show how to respond to islamic harassment of women February 8, 2016

At least in Murmansk, which is, probably not coincidentally, a major naval base and headquarters of the Russian Northern Fleet.

So a group of islamists were booted out of Norway and tried their hand in Russia.  They did their usual Saturday night harassment of women.  From there, they got a much different response than they have in the West:

A group of 51 refugees were brutally assaulted outside a night club in Murmansk, Russia, after they groped and molested women at a night club Saturday.

The refugees had previously been ordered to leave Norway for “bad behavior” and tried their luck in Russia. What they didn’t realize when they went out clubbing in Murmansk is that Russians have less tolerance when it comes to sexual assault on local women than other European countries. [Is tolerance the right word? Or is it indifference, cowardice, etc?]

The refugees allegedly groped and harassed women in a similar manner as the assaults in Cologne on New Year’s Eve. A group of male Russian took them aside to “educate” them that “Cologne is 2,500 kilometers south of here.”

The refugees tried to flee but were quickly captured by the Russians. They then took them out to the street and gave them a beating they will remember. Police arrived to break up the fight but locals report that they threw a few punches at the refugees before arresting 33 of them. Eighteen refugees were in such bad condition they had to be take to the hospital. [And they arrested the muslims.  Somehow, that’s beautiful.]

So I’m curious, what do you think of this?  I totally reject the idea that Christians are supposed to be pacifists, but at the same time, I don’t think mob violence correlates very well with what Our Savior imparted to us.  No war has been declared, certainly, but perhaps that is due to the effeminate weakness of our leaders.  Perhaps there is a practical state of war between islam and the historic heart of Christendom, Europe (if not the entire Christian world).  If that is the case, can responses like this be justified?  And who gets to make that call, given the near total abrogation of duty by our properly constituted state authorities?

Of course, many of those being molested are probably not even Christian, as are many of those laying the beat downs.  But I think there is a growing sense that our culture is slipping away, if it’s not gone too far already, and some are starting to take extreme measures to stop the further descent into cultural chaos.  A couple of weeks ago a group of masked men in Sweden attacked a bunch of muslims in Stockholm.  A growing number of Europeans see this kind of militant response as justified, given that most of their political/economic/social elites refuse to recognize the growing sense of unease over the mass muslim invasion.  But given Europe’s history, this could get really ugly, really quickly.

But while I expect some interreligious conflict, particularly in Russia and Eastern Europe, I actually tend to think most of Western Europe will continue with virtually no practical, organized response to the muslim invasion.  There will be attacks and reprisals here or there, but, for the most part, the muslims will come in growing numbers, and basically no one will do much about it, even as muslims continue to impose more and more of their “culture” on their hosts.

There are some Europe-based readers who think I am too negative in this assessment, however.  Whatever happens, I guess I’m probably naively optimistic to hope that our leaders on this continent learn from it.

Dallas Catholic Judge refuses to perform pseudo-sodo-marriage, democrats lose minds February 8, 2016

You will not be permitted to deviate from the sexular pagan agenda.  Certainly not as an even minor public figure today, but eventually, at all, even if you go live in a cave (as my great great grandparents did for 20 years, though for very different reasons).  Dallas Justice of the Peace Bill Metzger, who graduated from North Mesquite back when they had a pretty good football team, has refused to perform what he terms “non-traditional” marriages, citing his – surprise! – Catholic faith and opinions promulgated by the Texas Attorney General.  Liberals are screaming and crying that he must be tarred and feathered and placed in the stockade until he submits:

Dallas Democrats are demanding the resignation of a Dallas County justice of the peace who says he won’t perform same-sex marriages despite the U.S. Supreme Court ruling allowing gay couples to wed.

In his public Facebook page, Judge Bill Metzger wrote that his Catholic faith prevents him from performing marriages other than “traditional” ones. The Republican judge also cited a passage from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s nonbinding legal opinion on the Supreme Court decision.

In Paxton’s view, the government can’t force justices of the peace to conduct same-sex marriages over their religious objections.

The Dallas County Democratic Party issued a scathing statement accusing Metzger of failing to recognize the separation of church and state.

“By refusing to officiate same-sex marriages, Judge Bill Metzger is not only violating federal law, as interpreted by the United States Supreme Court, but he is also violating his Oath of Office,” party Chairwoman Carol Donovan said in the written statement. “Therefore, he must resign.” [Wait….when did pseudo-sodo-marriage become “federal law.”  Marriage isn’t a federal matter.  There was a Supreme Court ruling -a disastrous one, a false one, promulgated by false Catholics – but that doesn’t mean there is extant federal law demanding all justices at a local level perform this simulacrum of marriage.  What happens is that local and state governments react to the Supreme Court decision, because they believe that if they refuse to perform pseudo-sodo-marriage they will be taken to court, and they will lose, based on the Supreme Court decision. But that’s very different from citing “federal law,” isn’t it?]

Metzger didn’t reply to phone calls and an email seeking comment.

“It is clear that any Justice of the Peace in Texas can refuse to perform a non-traditional wedding when that wedding can be performed by others,” he wrote on Facebook. “My sincerely held religious belief keeps me from being forced to conduct anything but a traditional wedding as a Judge per our Attorney General.”

Good for Judge Metzger.  Don’t know what parish he attends, I’ve never met him, but God bless him for serving God over man.

As a corollary to this happy development, I was asked by a reader a few weeks ago to comment on the case of students of John Paul II high school in Plano canvassing for and otherwise supporting the candidacy of another Dallas County Justice of the Peace, John Sholden.  The reader’s concern with Sholden is that he WILL perform pseudo-sodo-marriage, aka “gay marriage,” if called upon to do so, if he hasn’t already. She found it strange that this candidate should receive the support of Catholic students, when his opponent for JP precinct 2-1 has said as a Catholic he will refuse to perform “gay marriage.”  While Sholden is a Republican and describes himself as “conservative,” I think we all know that doesn’t often count for a great deal.  Unfortunately, I forgot his opponent’s name, and could not find it for this post.

Well…..whatever.  Now that this has gotten out, Metzger can expect to either have to stop performing marriages all together or face a firestorm of criticism and immediate legal intervention.  I pray he stays strong.  And that he checks out Mater Dei parish in Irving sometime.

Man shot and killed at Lubbock parish, even though Diocese announced gun ban February 8, 2016

It is unclear at this time whether the Diocese of Lubbock has followed through on its promise to ban the open or concealed carry of guns from all Church premises. At issue is whether the required signs have been installed. However, the intent has been made plain since late last  year.  And as has occurred in so many other “gun free zones,” they almost seem a magnet to violence.  A man was shot and killed outside a Lubbock church last night:

A man was taken to University Medical Center following a shooting at a Lubbock church Sunday evening. Just after 8:30 pm – about 2 and-a-half hours after the shooting – police said the victim died.

The shooting occurred at the Saint Elizabeth’s Catholic University Parish, located at 2316 Broadway Street, early Sunday evening.

Witnesses said they heard a gun shot when they were exiting Sunday night mass.

Lubbock Police immediately responded and Orestes Garza, 51, was taken to UMC where he later died.

Garza is known as ‘West’ by many in the community. He was a musician performing at the Mean Women Grill and The Cactus Theater.

“Genuinely loved by everyone that met him and his dynamite performing skills and human being that he was will radiate through the Cactus Theater and the Lubbock community for many years to come,” said Dustin Garrett, a friend and co-worker at the Cactus Theater.

Late Sunday evening, Levelland Police apprehended the suspect involved in the fatal shooting. Levelland Police Dispatch said the suspect is in custody at the Hockley County Jail. The name of the suspect has not been confirmed yet. [He has now. Se llama Pete Garcia]

It sounds passing strange to say, but fortunately, this was a focused attack and not a crazed gunman seeking to kill as many as possible.  This individual apparently had some long-standing beef with the deceased and committed a heinous, evil act.

There are two general approaches to acts of grave evil of this kind.  One is to enact laws and ordinances that restrict the rights of individuals to defend themselves, hoping against hope that the law of averages will work in one’s favor and an attack will not materialize.  Inherent in this mode of thinking is that people are generally irresponsible and need to be closely monitored and directed in what not to do.  Thus, they should be denied the ability to protect themselves.

The other view is that law-abiding people are responsible individuals possessed of rights from their Creator, one of the chief of which is the ability to protect themselves when under attack or threat of attack.  It is possible had such an individual been present Sunday night, Pete Garcia might have been stopped and Orestes Garza still alive.  At the very least, we can see, yet again, how totally ineffective such bans are against individuals bent on committing grave felonies.

I’ll pray for the repose of the soul of Orestes Garza, and for an end to reflexive imposition of bad policies that do nothing to prevent gun violence, and may even help perpetrate it.

BTW, a reader had an interesting idea.  One reason why dioceses decide overwhelmingly to ban guns is because it is much cheaper, liability-wise, for them to do so.  That’s because there is generally little or no penalty, in terms of monetary liability, if an attack occurs on a premise with a gun ban.  But that may be changing.  There is a law under consideration in Tennessee that would hold entities that enact such bans liable for any injuries or deaths due to malice that occur on premises covered by a ban.  Individuals who would have been otherwise armed could thus so for damages.

It remains to be seen how effective this would be at overturning gun bans in private locales. Such would at least help tilt the cost calculations – which tend to dominate this kind of decision-making – back in favor of law-abiding armed citizens.

Contact Dallas City Council to stop return of EXXXotica Expo February 8, 2016

Last summer, the Dallas City Council and convention center authorities stealthily approved a demonically immoral “convention” at the Dallas Convention Center (Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center) called Exxxotica Expo.  I wrote on this at that time.  I also got interviewed for some online publication about my opposition, but I never saw the actual article.

At any rate, Exxxotica is trying to return to Dallas for another exhibition of the degree to which our society has sunk into amoral license and hedonistic pleasure this  year.  However, many more citizens, having been gravely scandalized by last year’s event, are mobilizing to stop it.  This includes billionaire land-owner and oil industry tycoon Ray Hunt [WARNING: LINK CONTAINS IMMORAL IMAGES].

The Dallas City Council is set to vote on whether to grant a permit for this perverse confab this Wednesday.  I strongly recommend readers who reside in Dallas, City of, to contact all council members as well as Mayor Mike Rawlins. The Mayor is ostensibly opposed to this event, but his verbal opposition last year amounted to little.  It seems a good number of the generally liberally inclined council members are in favor of allowing this new event to go through.  But thousands of communiques has been known to change minds.

The contact info for all Dallas City Council members is here.  You can contact individually or send a general message to all council members.  But individual contact probably works best.  You might especially contact Phillip Kingston, who influentially supported the original event last year, and threw out some ridiculous straw men arguments, such as blocking this one event meant that Dallas had to get out of the convention business altogether.  He appears to be a ringleader in support for this debauched affair.
