“The Church is not split between traditionalists and progressives, but between Catholics and modernists.” September 9, 2016

So said the well-known liturgist Msgr. Nicola Bux. To help explicate his definition a little more, consider the two items below. First, a priest in Sicily – mirroring more than one in Spain, for centuries perhaps the most Catholic country in the world – has blessed a lesbian couple in church, and called for the Church to “bless gay unions:”
What is true in Spain, is also possible in Italy. A priest of the Archdiocese of Palermo, where Pope Francis recently installed a “Bergoglian” as archbishop, “blessed” a lesbian couple. “I hope that the church will one day bless gay unions,” said the priest.
The Sicilian case is reminiscent of those in Castellón in Spain, where a priest “blessed” a lesbian couple in the Church. The priest then denied the blessing: He had “only” blessed the “love.” The two lesbians had however sent “wedding invitations.”
The former Jesuit church of Palermo, which is dedicated to St. Francis Xavier, has long been “committed” to the acceptance of aberrosexuality……..
………..Don Scordato congratulated the lesbian couple explained his decision and blessed it in the church. He called upon the church to “impartially receive and to pray for the couple,” the two lesbians.
The incident not only drew attention all over Italy in the leftist media but was also part of a documentary about and for “gay marriage” in Italy.
The two women, Elisabetta Cina (49) and Serenella Fiasconaro (46) are not practicing Catholics. But both are active in the gay scene and are committed sociopolitically for the recognition of homosexuality. Both have appeared already in T-shirts with provocative inscriptions in public. [So this was not an act about “welcoming” or “acceptance,” this was a nakedly political act to achieve a political end. It was, also, a religious act, a demonstration of fealty to the religion of leftist sexular paganism over the Catholic Faith.]
Critics accuse the pair and Don Scordato of putting on a subversive act with the aim of overthrowing the doctrine of the Catholic Church on aberrosexuality.
“The two women one day came to me and asked me to bless their wedding rings. The Church does not allow the sacrament of marriage for homosexual couples. I have invited them to come to Mass to introduce themselves to the community, because the Church has to accept all,” said Don Scordato last Sunday before calling the lesbian couple to meet him at the altar. Then he called on the faithful, “to greet the two and their love with a round of applause.” [Did not our Blessed Lord advise His disciples to shake the dust from their very shoes when places would not receive the Gospel? Did he not say to let those who persist manifestly in grave sin, after being counseled as to its evil (and this sin of same-sex perversion is so well-known and so against the natural law that no real counsel is necessary), to be as heathens and publicans to the Church, and to have nothing to do with them? Did He say to endorse their sin and give it Church recognition and glorification? This is precisely the kind of redefinition of the Church along marxist lines outlined in AA-1025, which may or may not have been an actual biography, but it was certainly prophetic nonetheless]
Moving on, to further illustrate how the Left operates, it is being reported that a group of 45 priests and scholars wrote a private letter – subsequently leaked with signatures attached, probably by allies of Francis – to the Sacred College of Cardinals imploring them to lobby Francis to effectively rescind, by way of clarification, the many problematic (read as novel, to many, even heterodox) portions of Amoris Laetitia. Those priests and scholars are now reportedly being heavily persecuted with the aim of getting them to repudiate their criticism or at least distance themselves from the letter:
Not long ago, as is well known, a group of 45 scholars, teachers, and pastors, wrote a Letter. (I emphasise that these people came from a wide variety of countries throughout the world: I emphasise this because I do not want what I am about to say to be narrowly construed as a criticism of any members of the English Church.) The Letter was addressed to each member of the Sacred College of Cardinals respectfully asking them to beg the Holy Father graciously to consider the clarification of certain parts of Amoris laetitia which have proved to be dangerously ambiguous……..
……..Intimidation and cruel pressures have, it appears, been applied to persuade some of the signatories to the Letter to rescind their signatures.”
Intimidation and persecution is how the Left has always worked. From the protestant revolt through the French Revolution to every communist government to the political correctness, “safe spaces” and “bake the damn cake” policies of today, the Left has almost never gained power without repression and intimidation, generally of a very violent kind. For that matter, they rarely let go their grip on power without a healthy amount of blood being spilled. Something to consider as we witness the resurgence of the leftist-modernist clique in the Church.
Speaking of, how are the Franciscans of the Immaculate making out these days? Boy, I bet you’ll never read another critique of aspects of Vatican II from them!
Speaking of, I better whip out the Nehru jacket, platform boots, and polyester jacket, it’s feeling more and more like 1970 again, idn’t it?
9/11 Fifteen Years On: The Jumpers September 9, 2016

It seems impossible we’re coming up on the 15th anniversary of 9/11. I do not know where the time has gone. I’m pretty disconnected from the dominant or major media, but am I wrong that there is very little mention of this upcoming anniversary? I guess 15th anniversaries aren’t that big a deal? I know 10 was a pretty big deal, and maybe 20 will be. Or maybe it’s just passe’ and too inconvenient to discuss, because it weighs too much against things like unconstrained immigration of unassimilable populations, the permanent democrat majority, etc.
And then again, maybe a lot of people just want to forget. They’d rather pretend it didn’t happen, or couldn’t happen again, or was some hideously byzantine government plot to kill thousands for a small increase in profit for a handful of corporations. But I don’t want to forget. I can’t forget. I can’t forget how strange it was to live in DFW and not see a single plane in the sky for days. I can’t forget watching two massive towers collapse.
Most of all, I can’t forget the jumpers. I can’t forget that there were people in such desperate, tortuous straits, they chose to fall to a certain death rather than to burn to death or choke to death on acrid smoke. There were quite a few, dozens, at a minimum. If you really want to have a grisly experience – and I don’t recommend you do – you can find the pictures of some of their remains online. They are out there. What happens to a human body when it slams into the pavement at 120 mph……saying it’s not pretty is more than an understatement.
Whatever one thinks of who ultimately committed this atrocity – and I firmly believe a small group of determined men can accomplish mighty and/or terrible things, like the conquest of the Aztec Empire – it did happen. 3000 people died in the space of an hour or so. 6000+ were injured. The deaths of many of those were incomprehensibly brutal and terrifying. Stuck in an airliner flying over NYC at 600ft and 400 mph, knowing you were going to die any second. Trapped in a burning building. Being on one of the lower floors, maybe trying to flee down a stairwell, when the earthquake of thousands of tons of concrete and steel starting to collapse unveiled itself.
I think in all the conspiracy theories and global war on terror and pro- and anti-muslim rhetoric that has dominated discussion over the past 15 years, the true nature of the day has been lost. It was a day of unspeakable tragedy on a profoundly human level. That’s the part that needs to be remembered, at least now, less what caused this or what came after, but what happened to nearly 10,000 people on that day. That’s what sticks with me, anyway.
So I attach the following images not to be morbid, or provocative, or morose, but to remember. This happened, and may God have mercy on all those who died, or who lost a loved one on that nightmarish day:
Media Elites Laying Groundwork to Endlessly Contest Trump Win September 9, 2016

Reader MFG – who perhaps had a bit different reaction to this op-ed than I did – sent me a link to this very strange editorial at the Washington Post by the exceedingly liberal Anne Applebaum hypothesizing that the Putin government in Russia is actively trying to subvert and radically influence the 2016 presidential election through electoral fraud.
There’s a lot of assumptions built into this piece, which I’ll try to unpack a bit as we go. But the most interesting thing to me is this: it indicates the enormous fear the “elites” have of a Trump election, and seems to lay the groundwork for declaring a Trump win null and void through endless electoral challenges on a scale well beyond the 2000 Bush/Gore fiasco.
See what you think:
“U.S. investigates potential covert Russian plan to disrupt November elections.”………[The foundation of this claim is that the electronic voting machines installed after the 2000 election are eminently hackable and the Russians may be trying to hack them. Didn’t many conservatives warn, at the time, that this was exactly the problem with electronic voting, that it was incredibly vulnerable to this kind of manipulation? But let’s back up a minute and review the history a bit. Which party has almost always been the perpetrator or mass electoral fraud in this country, going back decades? Which fraud does the media almost always try to pooh-pooh and dismiss until decades after the fact, when they finally admit that, yes, Johnson did steal the 1948 senatorial election from Coke Stevenson, or Kennedy the 1960 from Nixon, etc. There were cases in 2012]
……… I think the scenario needs to be fully spelled out. And so, based on Russia’s past tactics in other countries, assuming it acts more or less the same way it acts elsewhere, here’s what could happen over the next two months:
1. Trump, who is advised by several people with Russian links, will repeat and strengthen his “the election is rigged” narrative. The “polls are lying,” the “real” people aren’t being counted, the corrupt elites/Clinton clan/mainstream media are colluding to prevent him from taking office. Trump will continue to associate himself with Brexit — a vote that pollsters really did get wrong — and with Nigel Farage, the far-right British politician who now promotes Trump (and has, incidentally, just been offered his own show on RT, the Russian state-sponsored TV channel). [This is nothing but guilt by association. Has Trump been saying this lately? Why would he, when many polls now show the election tied, or him with a slim lead?]
2. Russia will continue to distribute and publish the material its hackers have already obtained from attacks on the Democratic National Committee, George Soros’s Open Society Foundation, former NATO supreme commander Gen. Philip Breedlove and probably others. The point will be to discredit not just Hillary Clinton but also the U.S. democratic process and, again, the “elite” who supposedly run it……. [Again, quite a bit of assumption built into this, and also, selective memory. Is it proven the Russians hacked the DNC and/or Hillary’s server? Who placed all that classified and other very senstiive information on easily hackable systems? If the Russians laid the entire design specs for the Buluga missile system on a park bench in Times Square, is it wrong to pick it up and study it? Isn’t that pretty much what Hillary did? And I find any attempt to discredit Soros something commendable, not damnable]
3. On or before Election Day, Russian hackers will seek to hack the U.S. voting system. We certainly know that this is possible: Hackers have already targeted voter registration systems in Illinois and Arizona, according to The Post, and the FBI has informed Arizona officials that it suspects Russian hacking teams……..[Which, again, who was pushing for easily manipulated electronic voting? Wasn’t it the democrats and their media allies screaming for this in the wake of their 2000 loss? And now that it proves that such systems are just as vulnerable as conservatives always feared, we’re suddenly supposed to do something about it? So this is just a case of democrats selectively complaining when the system they demanded, and which they may well have manipulated in the past, is now used against them?]
4. The Russians attempt to throw the election. They might try to get Trump elected. Alternatively — and this would, of course, be even more devastating — they might try to rig the election for Clinton, perhaps leaving a trail of evidence designed to connect the rigging operation to Clinton’s campaign……. [Can you see the setup? The bit about Hillary is a throwaway, the real attempt is to undermine the credibility of a Trump win. At least, that’s how I read it]
It just keeps going, deeper and deeper, so I skip that
7. And what’s the downside for Trump? If he wins, he wins. If he loses — then there are all kinds of ways to make money from the “election was rigged” narrative.
That last bit in bold is the tip of the hand to me. There is an unstated but very clear claim being made throughout the piece, that Trump is somehow in cahoots with Putin to throw the election his way. Yes, there is cover language thrown in to distract from this point, but with polls now showing Trump roughly even with Hillary, I take this as a total panic mode piece that is starting to cast about for ways to not just explain a Hillary loss, but seek to repair it.
An election was almost stolen in broad daylight in 2000, where all the evidence sided with a Bush win in Florida (even though leftists continue to pretend to this day that it was the other way around). I see the groundwork being laid here for another attempt, this time cast as undoing some phantom influence from a hated and feared competitor state.
PS – Is Putin more loathed and feared because he leads a powerful and often opposing state outside the Western liberal consensus, or because he is rightly perceived as being in some ways – admittedly, for selfish reasons – the champion of a conservative reaction against the amoral social agenda of the sexular pagan left? I’m not one of those who lionizes Putin for his strong stands against the decadent West, I’m convinced he isn’t doing it out of principle, but at times the enemy of my enemy can be my friend, no?
