The Most Schadenfreude-Filled Inauguration Ever? January 20, 2017

On this afternoon where our long national nightmare ends (and we are reminded of how an even worse one was avoided), there’s a lot of schadenfreude in the air.  Not that I mind.  I’m enjoying this as much as anyone.  Some videos from the day, including Trump’s swearing in and inaugural speech:

Promise the moon much?  I worry about the endless infrastructure and educational promises.  I am heartened by reports Trump intends to sharply reduce federal government staffing. We’ll see whether he can deliver.

The ceremonial parade, where Trump drags his vanquished enemies behind his golden chariot, is ongoing:

There have been riots and disruptions flaming tantrums aplenty today from some of those enemies yet unvanquished.  They managed to disrupt traffic and then started devolving into the usual childish violence cum rioting for which the Left is so justly infamous.  Keep it up, boneheads……..that’s how you got Trump.

In fact, as I watch the livestream right now, it seems the inaugural parade could descend into a wild melee at any moment.  Nice.  This is the new normal, folks. The Left would be reacting this way to ANY Republican who won, because all they have left in their rhetorical arsenal is hateful demonization.

Language warning below, but the always funny and on-point Gavin McGinness reviews Obama’s deplorable near-decade in office.  Worst. President. Ever.  McGinness is part of the new, young, very hip right that is – for better or worse – remaking the conservative movement in this country into a much more energized, combative, confrontational effort.  It will be interesting to see if this new movement has persistence or just happened to catch the Trump wave.

What did you think of Cardinal Dolans’s prayer – just read from the Old Testament – didn’t mention Jesus as usual. The Protestants said better prayers in my opinion.

Agreed. The prots did a much better job….

Dolan is useless.

Just as soon that Dolan only read from Scripture than say anything coming from his mind. Who knows what he would come up with. If only Bergoglio limited himself to reading from Scripture.

Here is one point: if 50 Republican congressman didn’t show up for the inauguration of a Democrat president, the drive by media would have gone ad nauseum . I am not a big fan of Biden, but he did say within the last few weeks that the election is over.

I agree our country would be a lot worse had Hillary won. I voted for Trump because he was the lesser of the two evils. Hopefully, between January 21 2017 and January 19 2021, America will get at least two conservative Supreme Court justices, common core will go away, and Obamacare will die off.

I wish to echo one of your points: “The Left would be reacting this way to ANY Republican who won”. It’s not about Trump. Perhaps if I was an illegal immigrant criminal or an Islamic Jihadist, I might be rationally justified in fearing his positions. It was before candidate Trump came on the scene that the fascist left wingers such as Soros began organizing their campaigns over the Trayvon Martin shooting and Michael Brown shooting. They are not content with playing the old “politics as usual”. In the case of Soros, he probably sees his own clock running out quickly. They are too impatient to depend on legitimate political campaigns. As to the new aggressive conservatives, I do think that might be a blessing. Islamic Jihadists only respect lethal force, and the fascist left wingers have no respect or compassion for gentlemanly traditional conservatism. In my opinion, this is a blessing of Trump. He has the thick skin and experience in dealing with the media. Many decent men and women may have staggered under the attacks that he endured. I might add that there were many of us, like me, that joined in the fray around the country to reply back via social media in his defense.

Speaking of vanquished enemies, this song comes to mind when I think of the Clintons and their “foundation” (don’t know if link will work but it’s Green Day Closing Time).:
