Trump’s Administration Surprisingly Catholic? January 26, 2017

Some interesting considerations in the video below.  Michael Matt examines the first few days of Trump’s administration.  He notes the somewhat surprising Catholic character of some early appointments and actions.  Homeland Security Director John Kelly made the sign of the Cross at his swearing in.  The Trump administration promises a heavy presence at the March for Life this weekend, including Vice President Mike Pence.  Some hope Trump might make a surprise appearance (I wouldn’t hold my breath on that one, but even the planned attendance marks a wonderful change from the hostility expressed by the previous administration against all things pro-life and Catholic).

Matt goes on to note the unhinged, practically demoniacal reaction against Trump among the Left in the sad, perverse march of crazed feminists and muslims the day after the inauguration.  He rightly goes on to relate how even the very definitions of things like “political extremism” and “prejudice” have been altered in recent years – it is only extremism or prejudice if it is something the left does not like or opposes.  If it’s something they support, nothing is too violent, too subversive, too damaging, to garner their support.  More and more, those on the Left and everyone else cannot even agree on basic facts, or what constitutes a fact.  The Left has it’s “facts,” which are generally simply dictums of the leftist religion, and then there’s reality.

What does the Left want more than anything else?  Sex and abortion.  But won’t islam take that away?  They don’t care.  They don’t think that far ahead.  And for the most part, they will willingly acquiesce to the call of Mohammad, should that woeful, cursed time ever come.  As Matt observes, these people are practically demonically oppressed (if not worse), and are so lost in these sins, so perverse in their thinking, they are unable to look at themselves, their beliefs, or actions, through any kind of remotely honest lens.  They are the reprobate sense, defined.

Great (rough) quote: “They don’t hate Trump.  They hate the people who voted for Trump………Anyone who would put any restrictions whatsoever on sex and on baby killing.  So long as we continue to breathe, I believe, they feel the guilt of who they aer and what they’ve become.  They’ve become like soulless animals.  They are going to get more irate and more dangerous as time moves forward.  All the noise, all the funny hats, all the foul language, are an attempt on their part to block even the faintest voice of conscience or the natural law in their lives.  If they can just get us to shut up, they can be happy again.”

The Left is willing to fight for what it wants.  Conservatives have not been.  That is why the Left has been winning for decades.  Too often, conservatives look at electoral victories and consider their job done.  Meanwhile, the Left keeps running through and subverting institution after institution.  Win or lose, they kept up the pressure at the cultural level. Now they have vast cultural power, even as their growing extremism turns off more and more relatively decent people.  If we don’t start reversing their cultural dominance, electoral victories like 2014 and 2016 may become a thing  of the past.

I’m glad that Matt notes that Leftism is a religion for these people.  They are willing to fight for theirs.  I do wish we had more souls with a similar fortitude on our side.  Present company generally excepted, but I think you know what I mean.  And heck, why not?  We work hard enough as it is, raising and providing for our families. One of the Left’s greatest advantages was to turn their activism into a paying profession.  The right has not done that to nearly the same degree, and is a major reason why we are always playing from behind.  We tend to do real work, actually making things and growing the economy, while they leach off of it, to a great extent.

Not sure how to fix that.  It’s going to take greater sacrifice on our part.  I don’t think we should ape the Left in this regard.  We should keep being makers and builders (by and large).  So we’re going to have to find ways to make up the deficit, otherwise.

I think one awesome way to do that would be for Trump to give awesome stipends to conservative, and especially Catholic, bloggers.  Not from the public till, but from his own vast resources.  Don’t you think that would be a brilliant plan?  Say, maybe, 200k a year?  For life.  Because this is a long fight, right?  No time to be chintzy.

Yeah, I’ll hold my breath.  Seriously, though, how about starting to heavily investigate the tax exempt status of many left-wing groups?  Their “charity” is often laughably transparent. That would hit them where it really hurts.  How about passing a law declaring public-sector unions illegal?  There are many ways to start chipping away at their in-built advantage.

I’m rambling.  Done.

No, I’m not.  A quick update.  Look at Trump call out the press – to a reporter’s face – for every year, for decades, failing to give the March for Life the coverage it deserves as a major annual national event:

Do you see Muir crowing about the size of the feminist march, and then having the temerity to say “I don’t want to compare crowd sizes”?!  That’s all the press did for days after the feminist march, saying it was larger than the crowds for the inauguration.

And that’s how you got Trump, and will keep him if you don’t change.

I had found most of these on my own, but commenters also shared all the the videos below.  Sorry if they’re repeats for many of you, but these videos are good enough to share again on the off chance some haven’t seen them.

As I said, they’re very good, BUT – as they feature today’s Left, they have to be filled with foul language, immodest displays, and rank idiocy.  The first is the best, and demonstrates something I’ve been hypothesizing for years: the Left will not fight islam, but will eagerly be subsumed into it as simply another militant anti-Christian muslim entity.  Christianity is the Left’s most ancient and hated foe – all other considerations must pale before that.  And, honestly, even though they have used hedonism to attack and undermine Western society, most leftists would be perfectly happy under a strict moral code imposed by a tyrannical religion – so long as that religion is not Christianity.

I don’t know what else could prove Leftism as a creation of satan better (again, language and content warning, do not watch near children):

That chick shouting the islamic call to prayer has done that many times before.  Her intonations were spot on.  Scary.

On a brighter side, a Trump supporter called “Big Joe” carpet bombs participants in the “Women’s March” with 2000 lb truth bombs.  I think there’s a little bad language here but generally it’s just annoying leftism, ad hominems, and a complete inability to respond to real, hard, factual argument:

I really cannot stand to see/hear people just shouting over each other.  It’s like fingernails on a chalkboard to me.

So here is another, someone put together a spoof mashup of Star Trek (TOS) and Ashley Judd’s totally unhinged, absolutely freaked out rant at the feminist march in DC.  It’s pretty funny, but again, I’ve got to provide a warning, another Leftist with a potty mouth.  Frankly, you can get the same effect from this video by watching the first 30 and last 60 seconds, and skip most of the rant, which  I would only watch if you enjoy displays of people very much all aboard on the kray-kray-train.  I mean, this chick is just straight up nuts:

Did you ever see that movie “Bug” she was in.  She plays a lady who meets a guy, and together they descend into madness.  I don’t recommend it.  But after watching this, I have to conclude, she didn’t have to act much for that part.

Finally, another bit from Steven Crowder, this time, presenting Planned Murderhood in an all too realistic light.  This is pretty ribald, but no bad words, thankfully:

There has been an explosion of really good conservative commentary on Youtube in the past year.  Crowder, Watson, Kennedy, McIIIIInnes, Yiannopoulos, Dr. Joel Peterson……..lots of excellent resources.  These folks are also much more combative and relatively immune to the Left’s usual tactics – crying racist, sexist, homophobic, etc., to all their opponents.  IOW, the politics of personal destruction, and all that.

Anyhoo…….maybe you’ll find something worthwhile in these vids.

A Beautiful, Edifying Episode from the Life of St. Simeon Stylite January 26, 2017

The man who stood upon ever-taller stone columns for decades, St. Simeon Stylite is probably better known among Eastern Christians than those in the West.  Fortunately, St. Francis de Sales included the following episode from the life of St. Simeon Stylite in some of his letters, letters which were compiled into a book called Finding God’s Will For You. There are serious lessons regarding obedience in this tale, too, but obedience is an issue so fraught with peril in today’s Church, where so much of the leadership has gone amok.  How to deal with authority that is demanding 135794-004-971f6b9eacceptance of grave sin and destructive error under threat of severe persecution?  There are writings from the Tradition that help guide us, but they are not terribly voluminous or comprehensive.

This situation we are going through is not entirely unique.  In the protestant revolt, whole bishops and princes tried to take dioceses and countries into error.  Did souls go along, under obedience or more prurient motives?  Most did.  But in almost every locale, some remained faithful.  Many of those are called Saints or Blesseds today.

I think the lesson, as it develops below, also serves as a guide to us.  Worthy shepherds will give broad latitude to subordinates who show a willingness to be obedient.  But those seeking to impose their will, and heterodox beliefs, on the Church, will always seek to impose their will in virtually every regard, and won’t grant such latitude.  Whenever it comes down to promotion of error, subordinates are freed from their duty of obedience.  Unfortunately, those seeking to impose a different religion often know how to mask their efforts to at least some degree, making the process of discernment a most difficult one.  Pray that God may enlighten you as to which matters require your obedience.

Anyway, from Finding God’s Will For You, pp. 61-2:

While the incomparable Simeon Stylites was still a novice at Telada (a monastery in Syria), he refused to respond to the advice of his superiors who wished to keep him from practicing the many strange forms of austerity he observed with inordinate severity.  For this reason he was expelled from the monastery as a man not very susceptible to mortification of heart and much given to that of the body.  Afterward he came to his senses, became more devout and wiser in the spiritual life, and behaved quite differently, as is proved by the following event.
download-15When the hermits who were scattered about the desert regions near Antioch learned of the extraordinary life he led on his pillar, where he seemed to be either an angel on earth or a man from Heaven, they sent him a representative whom they instructed to speak for them in the following fashion: “Simeon, why have you left the great path of the devout life, trodden by so many great and holy predecessors, and followed another path unknown to men and far distant from everything seen or heard of up to the present?  Simeon, get down from that pillar, and join the others in the way of life and method of serving God used by those good fathers who were our predecessors.”

In the event that Simeon agreed with their advice and showed himself ready and willing to descend from his pillar so as to condescend to their will, the  hermits had instructed their messenger to leave him free to persevere in the kind of life he had begun.  Bu such obedience, those good fathers said, they could easily recognize that he had entered this kind of life  under divine inspiration. On the contrary, if he resisted, despised their exhortation, and wished to follow his own will, then they resolved that it would be necessary to take him down by force and make him give up his pillar. [These were most wise shepherds with the love of Christ in their hearts.  They are happy to give wide space for novel forms of devotion, even when they do not fully understand them, provided sufficient submission to Christ and His Church is evident]

When the deputy had arrived at the pillar, he had no sooner announced his mission than the great Simeon without delay, without reservation, and without any reply, started to descend with obedience and humility worthy of his rare sanctity.  When the delegate saw this, he said, “Simeon, stop and stay there, persevere with constancy, and have saintsimongood courage.  Follow valiantly your enterprise. Your sojourn on that pillar is from God.”

….I implore you to observe carefully how those holy anchorites of old in general meeting found no surer mark of heavenly inspiration in a matter so extraordinary as the life of St. Stylites than to see that he was simple, gentle, and tractable under the laws of most holy obedience.  God blessed the submission of that great man and gave him the grace to persevere for thirty whole years upon a column more than fifty feet high….Thus this bird of paradise, living in air and not touching earth, was a spectacle of love for angels and of admiration for men.  In obedience, everything is safe, apart from obedience, all is subject to suspicion……..

……..A man who ways that he is inspired and then refuses to obey his superiors and follow their advice is an impostor.  All prophets and preachers inspired by God have always loved the Church, always adhered to Her Doctrine, and always had Her approval……… [When the superiors give evidence of being impostors by not adhering to Doctrine, the entire machine breaks down.  Especially when even the highest authority gives such evidence.  The great trouble is, after 50 years of successively advancing inculcation of error in souls, there are very few who don’t hold erroneous beliefs, who don’t support some form of abuse.  If it were not for her supernatural element, I daresay, the machine stops.]

———–End Quote———–

I get in “trouble,” sometimes, as I am viewed as not being sufficiently supportive, or critical, of groups like the SSPX.  But in this time of mass confusion and untold calamity, I have a difficult time telling someone “you err” in their differing responses to the crisis.  I do have some limits – I think sede vacantists go too far, and those who reject the Church altogether and leave for some other sect/church – but overall I have a hard time blaming someone, in this unending mass of confusion and conflict, from arriving at a little bit different conclusion than my own.  I think the key remains: “Love God, and do what you will.”  I pray He will be merciful and understanding with us all who are groping about in the dark in this time of so little light.

Steven Crowder Owns Feminism January 26, 2017

Sorry I’m out of time for the day.  I found out I’m getting sued over a trivial car accident, my work project I’ve spent 5 months on devolved into complete chaos and will probably be cancelled, and I took some serious grief offline for a post I did two weeks ago.   More on that, possibly, tomorrow. Did I enjoy all of this?  No, no I did not.

I’ve been busy as all get out and haven’t had time to put anything up.  But here’s a great video of Steven Crowder completely destroying the feminists at the woman’s march against teh Patriarchy and all things good and holy last Saturday.  This was from the Austin version.

There is some foul language from the protestors and a great deal of immodesty, which is thankfully blurred out.  But because the video is kind of rough I’ll just link to it and not embed it in the post.

The idiocy and banality of the Left -as if we needed more confirmation – is on full display.  Also note how adopting one of the “sainted,” aggrieved classes so approved of by the Left gives one carte blanche within their milieu.  No wonder so many souls are falling into sodomy, self-hatred, self-mutilation, etc. – it’s a ticket to instant adulation, social status, and blanket forgiveness for virtually any (leftist approved) sin.  Watch to the end to see former Texas gubernatorial Wendy Davis get completely destroyed.

Note that none of these people can form a cogent argument for why they oppose Trump with such an unhinged hatred.  They hate him simply because he is not theirs, and he made them lose. Of course, they would be doing this to anyone.  Had Cruz or, God forbid, Bush been the Republican nominee and won, we’d be told how they are Hitler and the gbiggest threat to peace and goodness, ever.  The greatest, gentlest Saint imaginable could be the president, and so long as that Saint had an (R) after their name, these people would turn him into the devil in their minds.

It has nothing to do with what Republicans do, what their policies are, it has everything to do with the fact that they kept the Left out of power.  And the Left has no more arguments anymore, after three generations of steadily worsening education and descent into mindless extremism, all they have left is stupid displays and egregious epithets.

More and more, they just look incredibly dumb.  I think there are increasing signs their act moves fewer and fewer people not in their tribe.
