Robert Davi is a name many people may not remember, but his face would likely be immediately recognized by any who grew up in the 80s or 90s. He played the bad guy or a character actor in a wide variety of movies from Goonies to License to Kill to Die Hard. A man who had a bit of a troubled youth (hardly rare in this day), as he has aged he has become an increasingly devout Catholic and an outspoken conservative.
He gave the response below to Meryl Streep’s tirade against Trump’s limited travel ban (nearly identical to one Obama had implemented years ago), and it’s beautiful. He’s exactly right, it’s time for Hollywood to stop with the words and make with the action, and start opening up their awards shows, banquets, private parties, and even homes to illegal immigrants and muslim “refugees:”
I have recently been pondering President Trump’s executive action with regard to our nation having extreme vetting and our immigration policy finally being enforced. It has pained me deeply to see such a violent reaction to something that, to my mind, makes absolute common sense.
Let me begin by saying that I am from a family of immigrants that came to this country for a better life. They came to the US “legally,” assimilated, integrated, and learned English to the best of their ability, and demanded we speak it. As we all know, we live in a time in which there are forces who wish to destroy our way of life…….
……..We have recently heard from a plethora of Hollywood stars on this issue — Meryl Streep, Robert DeNiro, Ashley Judd, Madonna, major agencies, musicians, singers and even the indomitable Shia LaBeouf. After much prayer on this issue, I must now stand in solidarity with all of my Hollywood elite brethren. They are right! The rest of you are wrong!
It is now in this spirit that I make an appeal to all in Hollywood and the media for us to use the Oscars to take a stand for the entire world to see and hear. It is time for Hollywood to lead the way.
I propose that Meryl Steep, Chelsea Handler, Richard Gere, Robert DeNiro, Christoph Waltz and others lead an Oscar first: let’s do away with the rules, barriers, and tickets to the Oscars and after-parties, such as the swanky Vanity Fair party or the Weinsteins’ star-studded affair. I ask all migrants, all illegal immigrant criminals and all un-vetted refugees to converge on Hollywood to come to the Oscars and all the after-parties, even those held at the mansions or the Chateau Marmont or anywhere else. After all, we in the Hollywood community want to show all Islamic extremists that we have love in our hearts — and what better way to do that than by inviting them along on our most important night?
It’s time the walls and electronic security gates come down. There are roughly 3,600 seats to the Oscars; we should have at least 2,500 seats reserved for illegal aliens, refugees and migrants, or maybe even more. [And bring ’em right in off the desert or aircraft. No showers, no makeovers, show the world the reality of today’s burqa-clad Arabic screaming “refugee” and the man who spent 5 days crossing barren desert with only 8 women to rape along the way for relief. Let him keep that knife he used for “hunting”, too] For those celebrities skipping the ceremony, each should invite at least 100 illegal aliens, refugees or migrants to come to their home to watch the Oscars with them. The Academy and the Vanity Fair people should also get the 150 criminals who have recently been deported from Los Angeles and bring them to the show as honored guests.
I find it curious that when President Obama did the same exact thing — and more — in terms of enforcing the law on illegal immigration, the Hollywood elite were silent. Why were they silent then, but are so vocal now when President Trump is doing basically the same thing? Is Hollywood racist? Why — when Christians are being slaughtered in Syria, Iraq, and other places in the Middle East — is Hollywood silent?
Of course, the people that wish death upon Christians, Jews, gay people and the West are greeted with open arms by the elite in Hollywood — so why can’t they come to our Oscar parties?
Additionally, I am now pleased to announce that Hollywood and the recording industry no longer require the protection of the Men in Blue at any of their events! We do not need a country of laws; only a country of illegal immigrants, refugees and migrants. How dare we ignore the words inscribed on the Statue of Liberty: “Give me your tired, your poor,
your huddled masses yearning to breathe free…”
So now, we ask you all: please come to the Oscars on February 26th at the Dolby Theater on Hollywood Boulevard. We welcome you to our homes with open arms and love in our hearts. Together, let us celebrate the Progressive left and its policies, which have helped make blue collar America Tired, Hungry, and Poor.
And the Oscar goes to…
With love in my heart,
That was awesome. Good for him.
They May Not Have Known Each Other, But They Sure as Hell Chewed Some of the Same Dirt February 17, 2017Posted by Tantumblogo in Admin, family, history, non squitur, silliness.
My paternal grandparents met and married in Phillips County, Kansas in the 1920s. They may have known each other well before that, but they married around 1930. My grandfather’s surname was obviously Roach. My grandmother’s was Pennington. God rest both their souls.
150 years earlier, Francis Roach was a very early settler of Kentucky. He arrived there perhaps 4 years after Daniel Boone led the first permanent party of white settlers across the Cumberland Gap in 1775 (an earlier attempt in 1773 had to be abandoned due to attacks by indians). Francis served in the Revolutionary War under General George Rogers Clark. A little bio on Francis:
Born: April 1739 in Fairfax Co., VA
Family: He was married.
Death: 9 Jul 1845 at his son David’s house at Lamb’s Point (Worden) [106 years old!]Military Record: He enlisted in 1779 and again in 1780 when he served with Capt.Dougherty on the frontier. He went with his captain in the service of his country under the command of General George Rogers Clark in 1782, and in 1786 he fought the Indians under the command of General Benjamin Logan. During the campaigns into the Indian country in the present state of Ohio, in one he helped cut up and destroy their corn at “Old Chillicothe of the Little Miami”. Mr. Roach had drawn a pension of $24.67 a year since 1832 (he was 93 when he applied).
Burial: Hamel Tp.
Narrative: Being an orphan boy, he was bound to a master, who removed with him to North Carolina in early life, where he married. In 1779 he emigrated to Kentucky, where he spent the first six years in a fort at Dougherty’s Station, near Danville in Mercer Co.; and after residing in several other parts of that state (he is on the 1799 tax list for Christian Co., KY – 299 acres), moved to Madison Co., Il living there till his death.
Francis was a man below the middling stature, of a swarthy complexion, gray eyes, and of active bodily faculties, which he retained to a remarkable degree till his last illness – was naturally of a cheerful disposition, rather weakly the first thirty-one years, which probably taught him how to be prudent in managing his health, having enjoyed, uniformly, (with the exception of two or three attacks of fever and ague) good health during that period. He was always an early riser – a day rarely dawned before he was out of bed – winter and summer. [Well he certainly didn’t pass that trait on to me]
Mr. Roach was always a temperate man, using ardent spirits only in the shape of “morning bitters”, as was the custom of the day – ate meat generally at every meal – never liked or drank coffee [so that’s where it get it from!], but tea occasionally for the last ten years, and totally disused ardent spirits for the same period. He became a professor of religion, and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church in the year 1787, in which he remained a devout member the balance of his life. [as were at least some of his descendants 200 years later]
After he was 100 years old, his eyesight became so dim that he could with difficulty discern one person from another – being guided more by their voice than otherwise. He never had the benefit of an education, and consequently had not much need for spectacles.
Mr. Roach was a hatter by trade, but most of his labor was spent on the farm, which never ceased as long as his eyesight served him. He was seen cutting corn stalks in the field with a hoe after he became a centenarian.
Daniel Boone had a sister named Hannah. Hannah married another Revolutionary War soldier named Richard Pennington. They, like Francis, moved from North Carolina to Kentucky in the late 1770s. In fact, Hannah and Richard belonged to the first worship house set up in Kentucky, the Mulkey Meeting House, the later version of which still stands to this day, and outside of which Hannah’s earthly remains lie.
While these families crossed the Cumberland Gap almost contemporaneously and lived in relatively close proximity for some times, they rapidly scattered within a few years. The Roaches in particular seemed to have a serious case of wanderlust, picking up and moving every 20 years or so. And not just across town, but to entirely different states, when to do so involved great danger and a journey of weeks or months. After Kentucky they went to Illinois, then Iowa, and finally Kansas. Why those good Southerners went to Yankee land I have no idea………well, actually I do, they were not big on fighting for the right of a handful of very rich and decadent men to own slaves. In fact all my forebears who fought in the Civil War – and there were quite a few – fought for the North. I’d have to check, but every single one of them may have.
I don’t know if my dad has ever established that the Roaches and Penningtons knew each other at this early date, but given that there were probably not 500 whites in all of Kentucky at this early date it’s possible. It has been established via genealogy that these are the same Roaches and Penningtons. Amazing that descendants of these families would, 3 or 4 generations later, wind up marrying. In the words of Gunny Highway, they may not have known each other, but they sure as hell chewed some of the same dirt.
So, yes, I am also distantly related to Daniel Boone.
Many people, even Texans, are not be aware that by far the most influential/powerful office in Texas state government is that of Lieutenant Governor. The Lieutenant Governor sets the legislative agenda and has a powerful rule-making position in the state senate. The office of governor is much more of a figurehead position that holds only limited powers, the ability to veto legislation being probably the foremost of these.
With that in mind, it is significant that legislation was proposed last month for the upcoming legislative session that would allow private enterprises to set their own policies with regard to this insane “let’s let deranged grown men use the same bathroom as little girls” issue that came to the fore last year under heavy pressure from the Obama administration. Schools and some other public entities would be required to maintain single-sex restrooms.
Shortly after the most recent Super Bowl, which took place in Texas, the NFL decided to huff and puff over this grievous offense to their increasingly radical left-wing sensibilities. An NFL official threatened that should the bill pass, the NFL would block awarding future Super Bowls to the state. Many noted the irony of the timing – they only spoke out after the Super Bowl occurred.
Was Lt. Governor, a stalwart pro-lifer, going to be swayed by this attempted influence? No, no he was not:
Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick told the National Football League to “get out of politics” and “not tell states what their public policy is” Wednesday after the NFL warned the state about moving forward with a transgender bathroom bill.
Just one week after the NFL held the Super Bowl in Houston, league spokesman Brian McCarthy issued a statement advising the state of Texas to carefully consider whether or not to pass Senate Bill 6, also known as the Texas Privacy Act. The bill, which was proposed in January, allows businesses to choose their own bathroom policies while prohibiting schools from allowing students to use bathrooms or locker rooms whose specified gender does not match their biological sex.
“The NFL needs to get out of politics. They need to stick to their business,” Patrick said Wednesday on “The Laura Ingraham Show.” “Does [NFL Commissioner] Roger Goodell, who didn’t care about people not respecting the national anthem, who took a while to come down on domestic violence — does he support boys and girls showering together in the 10th grade? Is that what the NFL is for?”
Although the bill was proposed in January, the NFL conveniently waited until the Super Bowl occurred in Texas a month later before issuing its political statement……..
……….But because the NFL is not a school, the Texas Privacy Act would allow the league to institute its own bathroom policies as it sees fit…………”We’re a free enterprise state. If a business wants to be as stupid as Target and run off their business and see their stock drop 25 percent, let them do it,” Patrick said, referencing Target’s decision last year to announce that its patrons could use whichever restroom they wished. [Nice. Thank you.]“We say that no school can have a policy that boys and girls share showers, locker rooms, and bathrooms. So the NFL thinks that’s discriminatory?” Patrick said. “If Roger Goodell is worried about our bill, then why doesn’t he announce that next season every stadium in the NFL is going to allow men in the ladies’ room? I don’t think that would fly with any of the NFL owners. The NFL needs to just stand on the sideline and not tell states what their public policy is.”
The scope of Catholic deplorables is steadily expanding February 17, 2017Posted by Tantumblogo in asshatery, different religion, disaster, error, Francis, General Catholic, horror, paganism, persecution, Revolution, scandals, secularism, self-serving, Society, the struggle for the Church, unbelievable BS.
Michael Matt examines a recent interview on MSNBC features Jesuit Father James Martin, wherein Martin manages to cover himself yet again in heaping piles of dung. The Church Militant is bad. The spiritual works of mercy no longer have any application or relevance. “Radical Traditionalists” seek to be a Church Militant, which is completely opposed to Francis’ vision of a new humanist “mercy.” Well…….at least he can get something right:
“This fruit is exhibit A.” Boo-yah. Indeed. Pretty much all that needs to be said regarding Martin. Martin has such a huge signature he sets off my gaydar at about 1000 miles. I don’t pick up Ru Paul until 500 miles, so that tells you something, if you get the joke.
Yes, the Vatican is just infested with “rad-trads.” Yes, it is such a sin to desire a Church that is purer. Yes, Francis’ wrecking ball is just a series of “reforms.” Yes, MSNBC and their ilk have always been concerned with the well-being of the Church. Yes, the term “Church Militant” is a dirty phrase. Jesus Christ was really just a proto-leftist who never preached exclusion on the basis of sin. Martin and Francis and the rest would never subvert Christianity in favor of their true religion, leftist ideology. How much fake news can one 7 minute segment contain? But what else would we expect from the pathological liars at MSNBC?
Bear in mind this very orchestrated set piece attack with yesterday’s post regarding close contacts between Hillary Clinton and Francis. Absolutely nothing the democrat operatives in the media do is accidental. This is all about giving Francis the political cover he needs to execute his revolution.
MSNBC and basically every other leftist media outlet have become personifications of Goebbels. If you have a stalwart opponent, make up the biggest lie possible about them, in this case, that Steve Bannon is a white supremacist, and repeat it constantly as an unassailable truth. There is absolutely no virtue left among these people, they brazenly lie and are positively proud about it.
Exceedingly interesting comments towards the end about who constitutes a “rad trad”………anyone who still accepts the Doctrine of the Faith more or less whole and entire is a “rad trad” in the view of Martin, Francis, and their ideological allies. It matters not a whit whether one assists at the TLM or has problems with Vatican II, even those who fully accept VII as a valid council with valid and good conclusions are grouped into the “rad trad” group of deplorables if they have concerns over Francis’ agenda or simply accept the Doctrine of the Faith. That is to say, the scope of unacceptable belief within the new church of Francis is expanding rapidly and will take in millions more souls than simply those few who have long had grave reservations over the most recent council and the revolution that has afflicted the Church from within.
Leftists cannot stand ideological opposition. Anyone who is not fully on board with the agenda as it is today – and it changes daily – is a deplorable to be ostracized and an enemy to be crushed. The leftist cult demands instant unthinking obeisance to whatever the thought-leading elites in academia, the media, and the political-economic elites demand this instant. 2+2=5. A lie becomes the truth, and then becomes a lie again. Whatever the party needs. Hell on earth. And Christ must be driven from the earth for the glorious new church of man to come into being.
“Francis is shifting the Church so far to the Left that those Catholics who do not go along with him……..will be easily vilified as dangerous extremists. So filled with hate that even our own Church finds us deplorable. Do you see how the persecution is shaping up?”
