Harris County is the Houston area for those unfamiliar with the locations of the state’s 254 counties.

A 60 year old woman, confronted with two armed home invaders, shot and killed one of them earlier this week in the Houston suburb of Katy:

A 60-year-old Texas woman wasn’t taking any chances Monday morning when she heard two intruders enter her home, grabbing her pistol and shooting one of the would-be thieves dead, police said.

The woman, who was not immediately identified, confronted the two armed men after they entered her Harris County home through an open garage door around 11:30 a.m., WTSP reported.

Cathy Hanks, a neighbor, said it’s not surprising the woman fired her pistol when she saw a threat in her home, explaining: “That’s really how we are. That’s just Texas.”

“It’s the state of Texas. If you’re going to go into someone’s home, you’re going to get shot,” Hanks said. [Well, that’s how Texas has been, I’m not certain if it will always be such, what with the incredible flood of new people moving in every frappin’ week now. You think most of those 6000 Toyota is pulling in from Kalifornia are rock solid conservatives and upholders of the moral law?]

Harris County Sheriff’s Office’s spokesman Thomas Gilliland told WTSP that both intruders — neither of whom were identified — were armed with pistols when the woman confronted them. She fired several shots and struck at least one man, who collapsed and died in her front yard.

Police found a gun next to the dead man’s body. His accomplice jumped over the fence and escaped, though it’s unclear if he was wounded in the incident.

The woman was not injured in the incident. She did not know the intruders, WTSP reported.

Police are still looking for the second intruder, described as a man in his 20s who was wearing dark clothing with red underwear peeking out of his pants.

Uh huh.  Surprise, surprise.

It takes enormous moral courage and more than a little skill with a gun to confront two armed men and actually hit one of them, when the adrenaline is pumping sky high and one’s life is literally at stake.  Good on her.

Whoa there buddy. I drive a 4-Runner, the hubs, a Tacoma. The daughter and daughters-in-law are affectionately referred to as the Sequoia Sisters…. and, btw, the T-100 was sold, running just fine, with 336,000 miles on it 😀

Other than that, great post! 😉

The reference was not to their products but to 6000 southern Californians moving here, who, based on how the region votes, are probably at least 55% left wing. As for Toyota products, they have their good and their bad.

Actually TB it’s a good question…. do you think lefties head to TX or do you think it’s more conservative folks trying to escape the left coast? You might want to consider marketing a couple bumper stickers that are quite popular in northern NV – “We don’t care HOW you did it in California!” And: “Vegetarian: Old Indian word, mean ‘Poor Hunter’ “

Judging by how hard Collin County swerved left in the 2016 election, the former. No the county didn’t go democrat BUT the dems got the highest vote total and percentage they’d seen in 40 years. And it is the wealthiest parts that are going Left, like far west Plano where my parents live. And now several thousand Californians have relocated to the county. It may well go blue in 2020, for the first time in over 50 years. Same crowd that is ruining Colorado.

Harris County which used to be a conswervative stronghold, has gone blue in the last two electons. Its small town Texas which is keeping the barbarians at the gate.

We feel the crush of the Kalifornians out here in Colorado. I find the Subaru drivers more left leaning, though. 😉

LOL Mrs H…. so three of the boys drive Subarus…. pretty popular in northern NV for their AWD capacity 😉 Happy to report they all lean far right… they make their mama look positively moderate 😉

NV bucks sterorypes, I guess! But when you live in CO with places like Boulder, well, that’s what CREATED the sterotype, ya know? Thanks, Boulder, for all you do…

Baseballmomof8 - August 5, 2017

I’ve heard that…. Nevada is actually two states, northern and southern… Kind of like California, coastal and interior. I’ve heard about what goes on in Boulder…. leftist paradise!

I won’t reveal my silly and surely self-serving theory regarding bad driving habits and certain makes of cars. Not many Subarus in Dallas so never had a problem with them but in my longish commute I do notice certain dangerous/rude/selfish driving behaviors may be associated with certain makes. No, not Toyota, either.

If it’s like it is around here… it’s what we call “beamers” – BMW’s. It’s in the fine print when they buy the car or SUV – they are exempt from most traffic regulations.

And from basic social graces, apparently…

Another life (probably) saved by–guess whom–a good gal with a gun! Now imagine if she’d “hid in the closet and called the police”; what a way to get raped and/or beaten to death!
