I haven’t the time to give much of a recap of the talk below, but I’ll wager this – once you start watching/listening, you won’t be able to stop.  I’d never seen Fr. Relyea give a talk below, but he was absolutely fabulous. It’s just crack cocaine for traditional homeschooling Catholics.  Give it two minutes and he’ll take you an hour-plus.

It’s also a wonderful palate cleanser from the post below.  If you could imagine Christopher Walken having a twin brother as a traditional Catholic priest, that would be Fr. Relyea.  Too bad he couldn’t come over to share some cigars with Dismas and me (that was another tremendous pleasure from the conference, meeting longtime reader and commenter Dismas).

We need more like this, captivating, motivating, exhilarating traditional Catholic priest-speakers.

More from the conference later.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the Disney stuff.  I’m not a big fan of Disney and we’ve generally disowned all that, but I do think demonic infiltration by underwear might – might – be a bit of a pious exaggeration. Perhaps pious exaggeration is a bit too strong, but it does strain credulity.  It could be totally legit but it might come across to the uninitiated as a bit extreme.  The Lord does work in mysterious ways, however, so who knows.

For the rest though I really enjoyed his talk.  He’s a fun and gregarious guy, just a prototypical Queens/Brooklyn type.

Heretic Pope – Francis Declares “There Is No Hell” March 30, 2018

The Vatican has tried to sidestep this blatant declaration of heresy, but they have been very careful not to deny that he was accurately quoted.  So Francis outed himself as a blatant heretic for at least the 10th or 11th time:

In another informal interview with Italian atheist journalist (and founder of liberal newspaper Repubblica) Eugenio Scalfari, published today, Pope Francis reveals that “hell does not exist”.

His exact words below (full interview behind paywall here, most important excerpt below):

Title of the interview: “It is an honor for me to be called revolutionary.” [That is also a kind of heresy, at least given the condemnations of leftist revolutions from past pontiffs]4

Excerpt on hell:

[Scalfari:] Your Holiness, in our previous meeting you told me that our species will disappear in a certain moment and that God, still out of his creative force, will create new species. You have never spoken to me about the souls who died in sin and will go to hell to suffer it for eternity. You have however spoken to me of good souls, admitted to the contemplation of God. But what about bad souls? Where are they punished?

[Francis:] “They are not punished, those who repent obtain the forgiveness of God and enter the rank of souls who contemplate him, but those who do not repent and cannot therefore be forgiven disappear. There is no hell, there is the disappearance of sinful souls.”

Yeah, you wish.

The timing is no accident. Almost every year at Easter this creature occupying the Chair of Peter has taken perverse delight – diabolical delight – in showing his utter disdain for popular piety and the few tattered remains of Catholic tradition that exist outside the traditionalist-dominated remnant.  He loves to mock and usurp it.  His only use for the Faith he so obviously hates is as a vehicle to his own self-aggrandizement.

Of course, he also loves to be the star of his own self-directed drama, the movie of his mind where he is always the swashbuckling young Peronist waging constantly successful insurgency against the hidebound reactionaries of the Church and world of his imagination.  He cannot see that he and his ilk are now the hidebound reactionaries wreaking destruction and causing suffering at every turn (as they have throughout their sorry lives), as his generation corrupted from the false and illusory ideals of the 60s into just another ruling class blinded by its own self-interest.

I’d be really harsh, but this being Holy Week and all, I’ll lay off.  To me, really, this guy is a joke, elected by infinitely corrupted and corrupting old pederasts who themselves are more sorry and pathetic than anything else.  They’d be laughable if they hadn’t done so damn much damage to so damned many souls.  But my judgment is nothing.  I’m just a man, and probably a fool.  But God is eternal, and hell is real.

Francis will find that out to his absolute horror at some point in the not too distant future.

Many conservatives were outraged, and badly shaken, but the 1.3 trillion dollar, 6 month omnibus continuing resolution that was passed last week to forestall the most meaningless event in history, the dreaded and loathed government shutdown, was just another confirmation that even though the party possesses the presidency, a large majority in the House, and a shaky but still existent majority in the Senate, the Republican Party cares absolutely nothing for the views and priorities of its voting base.  This was a giant upturned middle finger to the Trump movement and the conservatives that have given the Republicans their most sustained majority in Congress since the Robert Taft era.

Many even stalwart conservatives and longtime supporters of the Republican party are asking what purpose this party serves if the frankly amoral Chuck Schumer can claim that the democrats are getting more of  what they want from a Republican Congress and president than when the democrats themselves held power.  There wasn’t even a slight attempt to defund Planned Murderhood, secure real funding for the border wall (yes, there are some claims that there might be some funding there, but it is wholly inadequate), or curb the growth of the democrat’s bread and butter, unaccountable social welfare spending.  In fact, the leftist social program spending exploded under this 6 month continuing resolution.

The politics of it are disastrous, too.  Instead of taking the demonrats to the wall, now, nearly 8 months from the upcoming midterm elections, the Repubniks folded like a cheap green tent and funded the government for another 6 months, meaning the next continuing resolution (they’ve already told us there won’t be a proper budget for 2019, either, just as there hasn’t been a proper budget passed by Congress since 2009!!!!!) fight will take place in late September, only weeks before the election. With enough boneheads in this country still allowing themselves to be influenced by the democrat party’s propaganda arm (the so-called mainstream media), democrats will almost surely force an even more pathetic collapse from the Republicans then.

Trump also really disappointed in this process.  He tried to assert himself late, once the bill was already passed, but made no public full court press starting weeks ago to gin up opposition to the backdoor deals the Republican leadership was working on with the hard Left.  The exact thing Trump was elected to do – to kill the swamp monster by denying it the money it feeds on – was not even attempted, publicly, at least.  It was a major disappointment.

At some point, if voting for Republicans just gets us demonrat policies and we continue to witness the fiscal, moral, social, and cultural dissolution of this nation, there is no reason to vote for them.  They no longer serve any useful purpose.  And note, the biggest outrage here is not that they failed to enact the conservative policies tens of millions of Americans demanded of them, but that they failed to even try.

I went from living in a district so red that voting hardly mattered, to one that is so gerrymandered blue that it really really doesn’t matter, and I am wondering what all my time, money, and effort has gone to.  I am not quite as downtrodden as some conservatives are in the wake of this fiasco, like Stefan Molyneaux forecasting the eminent and permanent demise of this nation below, but I am quite disgusted and wondering when someone is either going to hijack the Republican party back from the statists, or a truly viable alternative to the corrupt uniparty is going to emerge.

Maybe we are stuck with a two party system, but no one said it had to be these two parties forever.

I think this was a pretty big deal, and Trump’s first really major disappointment. As for Congress, they all suck and should all go.

Blessed Are the Meek – But Who Are the Meek? Cornelius A Lapide Tells Us March 22, 2018

I’ve been reading – slowly – The Great Commentary by Cornelius a’ Lapide, in the Loreto Press version with the introduction by none other than Charles Coulombe.  It’s an excellent if exhaustive biblical commentary.  I can see why it is so often used by traditional priests – there are insights to Scripture I’ve never seen anywhere else, though a few are dated (like the medical references to the latest 16th century medicine).

Nevertheless, it’s an excellent if expensive biblical commentary. I strongly recommend it.

As I said, it’s an exhaustive commentary, a’ Lapide does not manage to cover all of St. Matthew’s Gospel in a single 600 page volume (not including a ~130 page introduction).  In fact, he doesn’t even make it halfway.  Sometimes it does get a bit draggy into really minute detail.  Overall, however, it’s the best Catholic biblical commentary available in English, at least until someone finishes translating Bellarmine, which hopefully Ryan Grant is working on (Mediatrix Press, by the way, has a 10% off sale for Lent. It’s a good time to save).

I haven’t done enough Lenten content this year due to circumstances, but here’s a nice exegesis on Saint Matthew Chapter V verse 4, Blessed are the Meek.  But who is meek, and what is meekness?  Aside from Christ’s exhortation to be meek, what role does meekness play in God’s plan for our salvation?  Divine Intimacy certainly provides many answers, but these from a’ Lapide are quite worth sharing, as well. I pray you find this useful:

Fittingly are the meek conjoined to the poor in spirit, because the poor and lowly are wont to be meek, as vice versa, the rich and the proud are often impatient and quarrelsome.  Poverty and meekness are neighbors, and related virtues………For “the meek,” says Chromatius, are “those who are gentle, humble, modest, simple in faith, patient under all injury, who set themselves to follow the precepts of the Gospel and imitate the Lord’s example of meekness.  Therefore, the meek are those who rule over impatience, anger, envy, vengefulness, and other disturbances and troubled movements of the soul, and do not murmur against God when He permits adversity, nor become indignant at injuries caused by neighbors, nor seek revenge upon those who harm them, but bear all things placidly in God’s providence, who orders all these things to His glory and for their salvation, when they practice resignation and acquiesce in them. This is why the meek, by the sweetness of their manners, reconcile to themselves the souls of all.

Christ alludes to what David says in Psalm xxxvi:11, The meek shall inherit the land, and shall delight in abundance of peace.

Meekness, therefore, makes us 1. pleasing to God and men 2. like Christ, Who says, Learn of Me, because I am meek, and humble in heart (Matt xi:29), 3. apt for wisdom and gaining celestial goods. For capable of receiving these is the heart which is meek, placid, and tranquil, as Psalm xxiv:9 says: He will guide the mild in judgment: He will teach the meek His ways.

The grades of meekness and the beatitude consequent upon it are these: 1. To converse with all with a meek heart and lips. 2. To break the anger of others by a meek reply. 3. To bear with gentleness all injuries and wrongs. 4. To rejoice in being injured and wronged. 5. By our meekness and kindness to overcome the malevolence of our enemies and those who are angry with us, and win them to be our friends. [This is very hard to do, especially in our proud and selfish age, where we are taught in ways subtle and gross to always exalt the self, to always get what we want, when we want it, and to take great offense if we do not. But this is not the way of Christ, or of the great Christendom that existed for many centuries. I count myself at the head of the list of those who fail in meekness.]

Finally, Climacus gives the reason, indeed several reasons, why the meek are blessed when he says: “Meekness is the helpmate of obedience, the leader of religious community, a curb to those who steal, a power that expels the wrathful, the teacher of joy, the imitator of Christ, the property of the heavenly, fetters and bonds of demons, a shield against bitterness and harshness of spirit. The Lord rests in the hearts of the meek.  The turbulent soul is the nest of the devil.  The meek shall inherit the earth, or better, shall rule the lands, while the furious shall be driven our out of their lands……….

[This last bit is not entirely related, but it was so good i had to include it]……..Moses promised earthly goods to the Jews, but Christ promised heavenly goods to Christians.

Better and fuller with St. Jerome – by earth in this place, understand Heaven, which is the land of the living, since this earth is the land of the dying, as it is said in Psalm xxvi: “I believe to see the good things of the Lord in the land of the living.” [so meekness is a necessary to be with God in Heaven]

————End Quote———–

I think that’s it for today. I’m sure enjoying a Lapide – I only wish I had more time to read, to soak up this glorious Faith of ours, which always seems, providentially, to provide an answer to one’s yearnings, even if those yearnings were unrecognized.  Sometimes you don’t know what you need, or what really hurts, until God shows it to you.  May He be forever praised!

God bless you!

Male “Birth Control,” or Let’s Totally Emasculate Men March 22, 2018

A purported “male birth control” pill works, researchers say.  It apparently works by killing testosterone, which is supposed to reduce or prevent sperm production.  There is already a sort of crisis developing regarding the plunging testosterone levels among males, especially soy latte sipping young millennials (those born between 1980-2000).  But even overall male testosterone levels have been plummeting over the past several decades.  One likely culprit is the mass consumption of phyto-estrogen laden soy products.

At any rate, this attempt to sterilize men en masse seems a bit on the nose, doesn’t it?  Let’s let men play at birth control by denying them the hormone that most predicts and creates distinctions between men and women?  Please:

One of the latest experimental candidates for a male birth control drug is a compound that would be taken much like the daily birth control pill available for women. A pilot study presented Sunday at the Endocrine Society’s annual meeting suggests that the compound—called dimethandrolone undecanoate (DMAU)—can be safe and effective in human test subjects……..

……..By experiment’s end, the volunteers who took DMAU experienced a drop in their levels of testosterone and two other hormones involved in producing sperm, which was starkest in those who took the highest dose. The study didn’t directly test their sperm, since it takes around three months for lowered hormone levels to significantly reduce someone’s sperm count. But the researchers say the hormone levels seen in the high-dose group have been shown to predict infertility in earlier studies of male contraception treatments. Conversely, the levels among all DMAU volunteers returned back to normal within a month’s time after the therapy was stopped………

……….The few side effects Page’s team observed were weight gain and lowered levels of HDL cholesterol (the “good” kind). But they feel a tweaked dose could alleviate these symptoms. Importantly, the pill didn’t seem to cause any other lasting symptoms of low testosterone. Eight men in the treatment group did report lower libido, but the effect faded away after treatment had ended. [Does anyone else severely doubt this massive hormone ingestion/modification will be side-effect free?  Yeah, right]

For now, though, the as-yet-unpublished results are only a sign of hope.  [How is it a sign of hope to make most men as artificially sterile as most women?  The birth rate in the West is already at civilization-collapse levels.  It will be the same around virtually the entire world outside parts of Africa within 10-20 years.  By 2100, the world will likely experience the most severe economic, social, and cultural calamities experienced in nearly 2000 years as a result of lack of birth.  But that is our human nature – we cannot stand success, comfort, and happiness, and at some level [many] seek to destroy it when we have it.] The researchers are currently in the middle of a trial meant to last for at least three months—a timeline that will let them directly test for lowered levels of sperm. And should that trial go off without a hitch, they would then test DMAU in real-life couples.

Something tells me this effort has more than a whiff of radical feminism about it – there is little practical need for male birth control at this point.  It’s about making men share the birth control burden, or even more, seeing men effectively neutered and emasculated (even more than many already are).

I realized I haven’t posted in almost 2 weeks.  Sorry for that, @##%^! work again, my boss was out last week and then we moved offices over the weekend so that caused further chaos – long story short I’ve had no time to post.

I have been meaning to post a summary of The Fatima Center/Our Lady’s Army of Advocates conference at DFW March 9-11.  In short, it was absolutely fantastic, both for the content provided by Fr. Isaac Mary Relyea (never seen him speak before, he was INCREDIBLE!), Fr. Michael Rodriguez, Michael Matt, Chris Ferrara, Elizabeth Yore, and others, but also for the warm camaraderie among faithful souls doing their best in this time of trial and division in Holy Mother Church.  It was a great treat to meet so many longtime readers of this blog and other supporters.  I had a great privilege in spending a good amount of time with a longtime reader from El Paso who stayed at our house.  T, you are welcome any time.

It was a fantastic conference.  Perhaps a bit cramped for room, but really excellent all the same.  All the speakers were top notch and touched on topics of vital importance. All the souls in attendance were kind and generous. I really hope and pray there was enough attendance for this to become a regular conference in the DFW area.  This one was put on at quite short notice, I think with more planning attendance could easily have been double or more – I ran into a lot of people who had no idea the conference was occurring until it was already over or too late to attend.

I didn’t take many pictures myself, but I was in a bunch of pictures with various readers and Fr. Rodriguez……..please send me those pics!  I’ll do a new post when I receive them.

Anyway here is Michael Matt speaking.  His talk was also really excellent:

Here is a video from the Fatima Center of Fr, Rodriguez’ welcome speech from Friday night, which I missed:

And then here is Brendan Young’s talk from Saturday morning:

I’ll post more videos as The Fatima Center uploads them.

So I know it’s late notice but conservative evangelical commentator Steven Crowder is speaking at SMU McFarlin Auditorium tonight March 22 at 7pm.   Man I’d love to go but I have a life to live.  Anyway it is being livecast on Youtube.  I imagine the protest/counter-protest could be pretty intense.  I know I have a future as a bigger and badder Based Stickman, but the time is not quite right, yet.

Finally, via reader ADG, a Christian was kicked out of a class on Christianity at a tiny and rather pointless liberal arts college in Pennsylvania inexplicably named Indiana University of Pennsylvania for violating the sacred progressive shibboleths regarding severe mental disorders/transgenderism:

A religious studies major was barred from Christianity class at Indiana University of Pennsylvania for saying during class that there are only two genders. Lake Ingle, a senior at the university, said he was silenced and punished by IUP Professor Alison Downie for questioning her during a Feb. 28 “Christianity 481: Self, Sin, and Salvation” lecture.

After showing a 15-minute TED Talk by transgender ex-pastor Paula Stone Williams discussing the “reality” of “mansplaining,” “sexism from men,” and “male privilege,” the professor asked the women in the class to share their thoughts. When no women in the class said anything, Ingle spoke up, challenging the professor on biology and the gender wage gap.

He told the class that the official view of biologists is that there are only two genders. The feminist professor booted him from class and asked him not to come back. She referred him to the public university’s Academic Integrity Board (AIB). Ingle needs to complete the class to graduate at the end of the semester. “You are barred from attending this class in accordance with the Classroom Disruption policy,” IUP Provost Timothy Moerland told Ingle in a March 2 letter.

There are a few important things to note here. First of all—these were topics for a class on Christianity? Gender ideology and the gender wage gap? Even further, the professor accused Ingle of “angry outbursts in response to being required to listen to a trans speaker discuss the reality of white male privilege and sexism” in addition to “disrespectful references to the validity of trans identity and experience” in justifying her decision to kick Ingle out of her class and demanding a written apology from him listing and repenting for all the different sins he committed in her classroom.

Exactly.  He committed the unpardonable sin of sinning against the always changing but nevertheless constantly required tenets of the sexular pagan religion.  Note that a sexular pagan was teaching a high-level course on Christianity.  This is not accidental. It is designed to shatter whatever faith young Christians entered the university with, and it’s a game the Left has been playing extremely well for a century or so now.  Don’t let them play it with  your children.

No real comment here, just one of the best speeches on the matter of “gun control” I’ve ever heard.  Virginia Delegate Nick Freitas effectively destroys all the Left’s main talking points to try to disarm the populace, and also gores a great number of their other sacred cows (like their attacks on the family, the correlation of fatherless young men and these kinds of insane attacks, etc).  It’s about as good a 7 minute speech on the topic as I’ve ever heard.  Enjoy and have a blessed weekend!

Come see Michael Matt, Fr. Isaac Relyea, Fr. Michael Rodriguez, Fr. Paul MacDonald, Chris Ferrara, David Rodriguez and many other top flight Catholic speakers at the 2018 Fatima Conference at the DFW Airport Hyatt on March 9-11!!  I should be there both Saturday and Sunday and look forward to seeing YOU!

BTW, a helpful hint from David Rodriguez, while daily attendance is $20 per person per day, a very reasonable rate for such top-flight Catholic content, airport parking can run a similar rate per car per day BUT just take your parking ticket inside the hotel to the front desk, tell them you are there for the conference and they will validate your ticket so that parking is free!  So you can save perhaps $30-$50 depending on how much you attend (and live locally/are not staying at the Hyatt), money you can spend on the fantastic Catholic books, video, and other resources that will be available for sale at the conference.

I already know a good number of people attending this conference.  If you see a long tall (and kinda fat) Texan with boots and chaw in his mouth come by and say hi to Tantumblogo!  I really hope to meet Michael Matt and Fr. Relyea and say hello.  I understand these conferences can be really great not only for their Catholic content but for the socializing and friendships that can be made.  You can pay your $20 entrance fee at the door or buy tickets at the link above if you are so inclined.

I pray I see many good readers there!  Dominus vobiscum!

“Shaming Prayer” – Just What You’d Expect from Those Indoctrinated to Hate Christianity? March 8, 2018

Here’s a quick post via reader ADG regarding the recent phenomenon of leftist outrage at those who respond on Twitter or other social media by stating they will pray for the victims of a shooting or in response to some other calamity.  This has been a steadily growing phenomenon over the past several years, as the Left becomes increasingly militant, increasingly atheist, and increasingly open in its hatred of the deadly enemy that must be crushed before we all become muslims – Christianity.

The recent shooting in Florida by an obviously mentally deranged boy with a long history of violent acts and every possible warning sign of impending calamity has revealed this anti-prayer attitude to its fullest.  Not only has the Parkland shooting revealed both the intense hatred of the Left for any not on board with its agenda and the overall desire of democrat supporters to totally revoke the 2nd Amendment, denying all guns to all citizens, but it has shown how decades of careful anti-Christian propagandizing in the media, academia, government, and most of all schools has produced tens of millions of people who are not just left-wing or inclined towards atheism but outwardly, militantly anti-Christian and possessed of little but disdain for those who give any evidence of belonging to the religion of Jesus Christ.

This is one of many reasons I totally avoid social media. Blogs are bad enough, but the compression of thought and total lack of nuance required to fit an idea into 140 characters drives people to foolish extremes.  What once was a sad lack of faith or dislike for organized religion now gets squeezed down to foaming hatred of (and envy for?) those who have the infinite comfort of faith and the beautiful organization that stems from striving to be a faithful member of the Church.

It’s going to get much worse, I fear:

A new front has opened in the Culture War. Now they are targeting prayer. The controversy was triggered by the fact that political leaders traditionally sent messages of condolences offering their “thoughts and prayers” to victims and their families.

Such innocent expressions of comfort have enraged liberals who claim the idea of prayer especially in times of a shooting is meaningless. Even prayer can be politicized as some protesters have resorted to “shaming prayer.” [It’s difficult for me not to find those who have nothing contempt for prayer and believing souls to be quite sick.]

They do this by becoming indignant with prayers, which they ridicule as ineffectual and infantile. Enough of your prayers, they cry, let us see legislative action! The more radical protesters go one step further by raging and blaspheming against God who allows such tragedies to happen. [And that’s really the crux of the matter – leftists, in a strangely contradictory sense, believe that people are basically good, and thus that society is perfectable.  Indeed, that society is only imperfect because of bad people who prevent its perfecting.  That this belief is totally contradictory doesn’t seem to sink in.  Christians understand that man is fallen and seriously deranged, that this earth is a place of trials and suffering, and thus can never be perfected.  Indeed, the attempt has historically brought much more hell than any “heaven.”  But it’s a article of the leftist faith that we could live in utopia if we could just get rid of the damn Christians and their sky-entity.  At root, as I have explained at length, they loathe God and Christians and seek their destruction as the ultimate obstacle to their hellish dystopia.]

Indeed, it is tragic that there are those who shame prayer. They refuse the very means by which every suffering and problem might be overcome. Although they would be enraged at the suggestion, the prayer shamers need prayers.

Their problem is that they do not have Faith in God. Therefore, they do not understand the nature of prayer. For them, prayer is a kind of therapeutic exercise of weak individuals who cannot face reality. Such weaklings resort to appealing to an imaginary being from whom they imagine they receive favors. Such an opinion is not new, for Saint Thomas Aquinas says that even among the ancients “some held that human affairs are not ruled by Divine providence; whence it would follow that it is useless to pray and to worship God at all” (II-II: 83).

Hence, the prayer shamers’ mentality is sadly limited and narrow-minded. They recognize no reality or power beyond the physical world. They rely only upon themselves to realize their goals. And when they fail in life, as all eventually will do, they do not understand the meaning of suffering and become resentful………..

………Thus, those who shame prayer do not know prayer. They do not have recourse to God and shame those who do. They have recourse instead to government solutions that often make matters worse. Tragically, God has been banished from the public square, and people are surprised when disasters happen.

However, Christians also share in the ignorance of the power of prayer. The political figures that send thoughts and prayers, often do so as a matter of social convention without praying. [That’s a good point] The faithful also neglect to avail themselves of the good that can be obtained through prayer. [Also generally true]

How much more effective these figures would be if they really prayed and asked for God’s aid to console those who suffer tragedy. How much more could be done if all the faithful would approach God with humble and contrite hearts asking that the nation be spared from certain tragedies. How many blessings could be expected if everyone would gather and pray in the public square to call upon God’s aid with perseverance.

Indeed, prayer shamers would be less effective if Christians had less shame in praying.

Well, at least we no longer have a bishop who makes a point of being very publicly anti-gun.  Yes Bishop Burns said that guns are not permitted on parish grounds but he had the 30.06 and 30.07 signs removed, which are the only legally actionable means for someone to be prosecuted for concealed or open carry in a location which doesn’t want such.  So legally speaking, guns are permitted.

I am unaware of any being hassled over carrying on parish grounds in this diocese since the signs were removed last November, but I don’t get out much anymore.

Youth “Transgenderism” The Latest of Many Destructive Psychological Fads March 8, 2018

Psychology/psychiatry are often the butt of jokes, and I think rightly so.  It is far from obvious that in the vast majority of psychological treatment the cure has been worse than the disease.  Tens of millions of Americans are prescribed anti-depressants, and yet more people than ever are depressed, and a disturbing percentage of those on anti-depressants will have a psychotic episode.  26 of the last 27 mass shooters in this country were on anti-depressants.

So-called split personalities received massive media attention in the 80s and 90s and resulted in a huge increase in the number of people reporting this affliction.  After decades of study, however, most science has concluded that the vast majority of those reporting split personalities were faking it.

There have been many other such examples – the mass psychosis of the 60s was “anxiety neurosis” and millions of Americans were placed on tranquilizers.  We have tens of millions of little boys in this country being drugged out of their minds to make them behave more like little girls and make teacher’s jobs easier.  I’m sure you can supply your own examples.

Dr. Jordan Peterson believes we are in one of the most destructive psychological fads ever pushed (@~35:00 language warning for Owen Benjamin, so no embed in the post but the whole middle of the interview is very good) by the media, people desiring to be seen as part of a highly lionized movement given near total moral authority, and probably some parents who want their child to be “special” in the latest culturally approved way – that of pushing kids, almost exclusively little boys, into supposed “transgenderism.”  He believes we as a culture will have hell to pay with the adult product of the kids being experimented on today in one of the most horrific social experiments ever conducted, all for the benefit of the leftist social justice political organizing machine.

Historically, people experiencing genuine gender dysphoria, almost universally as the result of some terrible childhood trauma (generally of a sexual nature), have numbered about 0.01-0.03% of the population.  That is to say, 99.97-99.99% of the population did not experience this.  Now the fad is pushing the number up to where there are more people claiming to be transgender than inclined to the sins of sodom and gomorrah – upwards of 3% of the population:

Many more teenagers than previously thought may identify as transgender or gender non-conforming, a new study in the journal Pediatrics suggested. Only about 0.6 percent of U.S. adults identify with a gender opposite their birth sex, and previous studies showed about 0.7 percent of U.S. teens do so as well. The study published Monday suggested that the percentage might be closer to 3 percent, however. [Several things – I would be very careful with reading too much into these numbers (this post obviously aside!). Everything I have read, and it’s not an inconsiderable amount, on this subject suggests the number of transgenders historically averages are what I stated above – in the hundredths of a percent.  I am very dubious that the current number is 0.7%, which would translate into 2.4 million people!, or that 3% is really even in the realm of possibility – 10 million people!  It’s like the scam they pulled when advocating sodomy was the agenda – 10% of the population is “gay!”  No, it’s not, it’s not even close, first of all, many people drift in and out of the sins of sodom and gomorrah over their life – perhaps over half those who at one time self-identify as “gay” do so – and secondly the number is more like 2%, tops.  So my guess is that these numbers here have been exaggerated at least by a factor of 10, and possibly much higher. Nevertheless, it is not the raw numbers but the trends that this post is about.]

To put that in perspective, the U.S. Census Bureau estimated that there were 41.7 million Americans between the ages of 10 and 19. If 0.7 percent of them identify as a gender different from their birth sex, then approximately 292,000 U.S. teens are transgender. If the share is 2.7 percent, however, that would mean 1.13 million U.S. teens are transgender — an increase of 0.86 million.

……….This week, Pediatrics released a study of Minnesota teenagers in grades 9 and 11. The study surveyed 80,929 students, and found that 2,168 (2.7 percent) identified with a gender opposite or different from their birth sex. The study referred to them as “Transgender and gender non-conforming (TGNC),” and labeled the other 78,761 (97.3 percent) “cisgender.” [First of all, Pediatrics, along with the American Academy of Pediatrics, which like many other supposedly medical organizations/journals has been co-opted by the hard left.  Secondly, how was the question phrased, and have its results been duplicated (for instance, was the question broadly worded, calling “transgender” those who ever have ANY, even the slightest, confusion over their gender)?  Third, ages 14-16 are the very ages when people are most likely to experience confusion over gender as they experience the onrush of hormones, the often horrid peer environment of the school systems, and most of all, the beginnings of the transition from childhood to adulthood.  In this hyper-sexualized culture, in fact, children such as these are forced to grow up much too fast and are exposed to horrible influence like pornography that can warp their development and push them into the very kinks this study is supposed to be analyzing?  Here’s an interesting idea for research – how about correlating the frequent use of pornography and self-abuse with tendencies towards perversion?  There is a huge body of evidence that points to “transgenders,” like those inclined towards the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah, being not born, but made.  What are the increasingly demonic schools doing to propagate this?]

These results represented a stunning increase from previous estimates. According to government estimates, about 0.6 percent of U.S. adults (1.4 million) identify as transgender. A UCLA study released last year estimated that 0.7 percent of teens between the ages of 13 and 17 are transgender, about 150,000 kids, CBS News reported.

“With growing trans visibility in the United States, some youth might find it safer to come out and talk about gender exploration,” Nic Rider, a University of Minnesota postdoctoral fellow studying transgender health, told CBS News. “Diverse gender identities are more prevalent than people would expect.”

Well I’m more than a bit dubious of this data, but coupled with other revelations, it does seem that the constant, wall-to-wall, glowing media coverage of transgenders and the great moral authority the Left instantly grants them in the cultural space is having an impact.  The number of very young children, even as young as 4, whose parents seek treatment to transform them, outwardly at least, from one gender to another when they can barely go to the bathroom on their own has risen very sharply in the past few years.  There is absolutely zero chance this is a natural phenomenon.  Can no one see the massive possibility for corruption and the most base self-interest in this? And as Dr. Peterson notes, we’re going to have to deal with some extremely ugly repercussions from traumatized adults who, I’m quite certain, will relate tale after tale of how their parents, or their trauma, induced them into drastic changes that literally destroyed their bodies physically and will prevent them from ever leading normal, happy lives.  Who knows the cancers and other ailments that will result from the hormone treatments alone, let alone the prevention of puberty and probable permanent sterility.  But the damage to their souls will, I fear, be much, much worse.

Oh yeah, it’s going to be oh so much fun.  In fact, it’s going to be a cultural disaster of massive proportions, for which the media-industrial complex will call for government intervention, of course, which is the point of it all.  Anything to weaken the family and church and empower the state, they are foursquare for.  And it’s exactly what all those uptight prudish no-fun-at-all Christians were warning about way back in the 70s and 80s when this descent into amoral madness started really getting rolling.
