…….and the matter addressed in this post raises major issues with Novus Ordo Church.

I initially used the Youtuber’s name in the post, but went through and removed it, since it’s not really the point.

There is a particular Youtube channel with a particular female “host.” This woman formerly lived in Seattle and now lives in the Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, area.  She’s what’s called a “based” or “red-pilled” Youtuber, which means she strongly rejects leftist social justice warrior ideology and adheres much more to conservative viewpoints.  In fact, she plays at being attracted to fascist ideologies at times.  I’m not sure how serious that attraction is, most of my viewership of her material comes through the weekly livecasts she does with another Youtuber.

In many respects she’s great.  She’s very conservative and we align on a number of points.  In spite of these many points of agreement, however, like Michael Knowles, there is a serious problem with her attitude regarding the Church and the moral law Christ has given to guide us in this life, be pleasing to Him, and enable us to spend eternity worshipping Him in Heaven..  Like so many of us, this fair haired woman has a lot of baggage.  Lord knows, I do, too.  I’ve been pretty open about that over the years.  One thing I have striven most mightily to do is to conform myself to the mind of the Church in all aspects of my life of which I am aware.  This does not mean I have succeeded in all fronts, but I continue to try.

In this day and age, however, that can be a difficult thing to do.  What should be the simplest, most straightforward thing in the world – for Catholics to know the moral law and live in accord with it (I didn’t say easiest) – has become a labyrinthe of difficulty, due to the error and outright heresy rife in the Church of the past 100 years or so, extending in recent times right to the highest level.  While the Doctrine of the Faith is still out there to be found by souls who are willing to put forth the effort – in books, on website, at traditional parishes, etc – there is a huge mass of error to lead poeple astray, and especially to tempt them in the most trying (marriage, chastity, procreation) aspects of their lives to find the wide, easy road to destruction, instead of the hard, narrow way our Blessed Lord told us would be our lot if we chose to take up our cross and follow Him.

All I say below has been publicly revealed by this Youtube personality herself, so I am not revealing any confidences. This woman is married to a non-Catholic.  She was married outside the Church.  As she became much more conservative over the past several years, she began to feel an attraction towards the Church again.  From what she has said, her initial return to the Church was to the SSPX. I am guessing this is the Immaculate Conception priory the SSPX has near the Washington/Idaho border. Upon approaching the priests there regarding regularzing her marriage and being able to receive the Sacraments, as she terms it, she was told that she would have to wait 6 months in order to have her marriage reviewed and the process of investigation completed.  During that time, she would have to remain chaste with her husband, living as brother and sister.  Now, this Youtuber is in her early 30s and is attempting to conceive her first child.  She has been married for at least a few years.

This was undoubtedly a huge cross to bear. I asked some local priests about this period of continence, and they indicated that it seemed rather longer than their experience indicated but that each case was different, and not knowing the particulars it was difficult to comment.  They absolutely agreed that this woman and her husband would need to live as brother and sister until the marriage was made right in the eyes of God and Holy Mother Church, and that she could not receive Communion during this waiting period, either.  It should be noted that, prior to the 1950s, getting a sacramentally invalid marriage to a non-Catholic validated was all but impossible. Whether such marriages should even be available for validation is a huge question, one which I won’t go into at this time.

The Youtuber was not amenable to this direction, done for the good of her soul, and that of her husband’s, I’m sure.  She sought out a Novus Ordo parish, my guess would be St. Thomas the Apostle because she described this as a relatively conservative and orthodox parish.  There are only two or three Novus Ordo parishes in the area, and this one is definitely the most orthodox by all appearances.  Apparently, from what she has said, this parish somehow regularized her marital situation, or gave her some kind of leave to continue to live as husband and wife while the matter was being resolved (and allowing her to receive the Sacraments). After discussing this situation on their Youtube livestream, I reached out directly to this woman and I suggested she seek out the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter parish in the area, because I feared that she may have been getting some worldly, feel-good kind of direction that is all too common in the Novus Ordo world.  I do not know if she contacted good Father Gordon up there, but she did say she was going to Mass and receiving Sacraments and seemed satisfied.

Now, I have no knowledge of the details, so perhaps this resolution of her non-sacramental marriage was perfectly legitimate.  But I was concerned that this could be evidence of the kind of extremely lackadiasical attitude towards the Sacraments and their right administration that is all too common in essentially all Novus Ordo parishes.  Subsequent events gave strong evidence of this.  The Youtubing woman related that as she had been away from the Church for years, she had accumulated numerous sins, including a number of mortal ones, and that confessing these was difficult.  She stated that the priest of this parish had advised that she could just confess one or two as she felt moved to do at each Confession, and then continue to receive Communion as she gradually went through her history of sins.  She indicated this was the course she was following.

This is obviously a grave offense against God and His Church, and is an absolutely disastrous pastoral practice.  Objectively speaking, every one of these Confessions has been invalid, devoid of the Grace of reconciliation with God, and each subsequent reception of the Blessed Sacrament has been unspeakably sacrilegious.  Now, the Youtuber received absolutely disastrous direction from her priest, so I’m not certain how much guilt accrues to her, and how much to him, but the entire situation is a catastrophe.  If she becomes aware of this grave offense against God, she would have to go re-confess all these sacrilegious confessions and all the other, original mortal sins, besides. What a nightmare.

And this brings me to the point of this post.  If I am right about the parish in question, by all external appearances it looks like a quite faithful, orthodox parish.  There is frequent public Rosary and Confession most days.  It could be she attends the other parish in Coeur d’Alene, St. Pius X (please don’t harrass either parish since I/we don’t know with certainty).  But either way, this situation highlights something I have learned at great cost over the past decade or so – that, one priest aside, there are virtually no Novus Ordo priests in this country who can be relied upon in every situation, no matter how difficult, to adhere to the Doctrine of the Faith and guide souls along these ancient, constant lines. Even in seemingly conservative/faithful Novus Ordo parishes/chapels, I have universally encountered error to one degree or another, with the exception of one priest, Father Paul Weinberger.  He is a rock.  But even in Hanceville, when Mother Angelica was still alive, I got some very unfortunate direction in the confessional, which fortunately I knew better than to follow.  There are other priests in the Novus Ordo church that I believe are also quite solid, like Father Ryan Erlenbush, but I do not have enough direct personal knowledge to confirm.  If you have such a priest, thank God, for you are truly fortunate.

The seemingly very quick and convenient, with little or no moral consequence, regularization of the sacramentally invalid marriage was frankly a huge warning sign.  But this matter of the advice given with regard to Confession is beyond the pale, and puts the woman’s soul in the gravest of jeopardy.  I have spoken with several priests on this matter – confidentially, of course  – and all were utterly aghast at this hideous direction.

It is a tragedy, but is one of the strongest reasons why I now pretty much advocate exclusively for souls to avail themselves of priests of traditional priestly societies if at all possible (up to an including driving an hour or so each way if possible), or of priests offering the TLM in the next case.  If absolutely no TLM is available, especially from a society of men deliberately formed according to the constant belief and practice of the Faith, search out the best priest you can find, but I think in such a case you have a particular duty to exert great effort to form yourself in the Faith to the degree that you will not be influenced by poor catechesis and destructive direction.

It just reinforces my growing opinion that the future of the Church is entirely in her past.  She must return to herself in all ways, most especially those related to the moral virtues and the Liturgy.  That’s not just about saving souls.  It’s about giving God the glory He deserves.

“Saint” Greta, intercede for us!

Diabolical disorientation.  Reprobate sense.  It’s all that and then some.  And a child shall lead them……..straight to hell.

A poor distrubed, tiny little wisp of a girl, is going to be used, chewed up, and spit out by these wholly cynical, uncaring thugs who only know and want one thing – power.

Of course, we’ve seen all this before:

The dark haired, dark-complected girl is Severn Cullis-Suzuki.  Today, she has a minimal role as a low-level environmental activist.  Almost all of her “pull” dates back to that 1992 speech, which was about the then-boogyman of “ozone depletion.”  Of course, the ozone layer is fine.  Yet another false environmental panic, whose only practical effect was to ban an extremely useful and efficient series of chemical products to be replaced by more expensive, less efficient ones.  Just like dishwashers that don’t wash, light bulbs that don’t light, and “eco-friendly” electric cars filled with hundreds of pounds of extremely toxic heavy metals.

In fact, it appears Ms. Cullis-Suzuki, a Canadian, has been little more than a professional student and hacktivist.  She was still in college working on a PhD in 2017, at age 38.  She was also a completely astroturfed phenomenon, just as Greta Thunberg is the creation of extremist leftist activist parents, Cullis-Suzuki is the daughter of extremist Canadian environmentalist terrorizer David Suzuki.  She, like her father, makes a quite comfortable living being a member of numerous NGOs, all involved in attempting to impoverish and sicken billions of people to comfort their endless neuroticism.

The earth is not catastrophically warming. As an expert in the field of computational fluid dynamics with 20 years experience in the field, I can flatly declare that the models upon which all this panic and fear-mongering rest are laughably inadequate to the task of forecasting future global temperatures based on the near infinite, multi-variate factors involved in the Earth’s massive ecosystem.  CFD has always been and remains a field that is as much art as science.  CFD models on comparitively tiny-scale industrial systems are doing exceedingly well if they can predict within 10% the actual temperatures a given system will experience based on various heat loads, flow patterns, etc.  This has to do with the inherent limitations within the simulation software.  Yes, the global warming scientists use ostensibly more sophisticated software with custom-written codes running on supercomputers, but the basic limitations of CFD remain, which is why the models both vary so wildly from each other in output, and why the results have been at such extreme variance with what the global climate has done over the past 20-30 years of this ridiculous moral panic.

Human beings are not causing whatever warming may be occurring, which certainly appears to be very, very much within historical norms.  It has not been established that carbon dioxide levels contribute significantly to global warming, and to the extent that they do, both Europe and North America have substantially reduced their levels of CO2 emissions, while China’s and India’s have exploded.  But neither of these misguided children of extremists give even the slightest thought for attacking the real source of this manufactured, false crisis – developing countries with little or no industrial pollution controls.  Thus, they are lying hacks, whether they intend to be or not.

Want to know a great joke?  Do you know who first posited this ridiculous theory of anthropocentric global warming, and why he did it?  It was the amoral Dr. Edward Teller, inventor of the hydrogen bomb, who in 1955 realized that, with the cheapness of oil and natural gas, his beloved nuclear industry would need an additional selling point to start turning extremely radioactive substances into a source of power, especially given the massive problem of dealing with the spent fuel.  So, he came up with the idea of this dire threat of global warming, to serve as an unanswerable reason to switch to nuclear energy.  Obviously, all the above is a massive simplification, but, the entire global warming craze owes its existence to probably the most immoral scientist of the latter 20th century.

I wonder how many of these environmentalists realize they are ultimately doing the bidding of the inventor of thermonuclear weapons, and the driver of their miniaturization to where they could be placed in very small missiles and bombs and still pack a city-crushing punch.

Excellent Video Series on Antonio Salazar September 26, 2019

Antonio de Oliveira Salazar was the leader, some would say dictator, of Portugal from 1934 until his death in 1968.  Unlike Franco’s Spain, his Catholic corporatist Estado Novo (New State) survived him by several years, finally being wrecked by a coup of mid-grade hard leftist officers of Portugal’s military in 1974.

Salazar and the Estado Novo offer an interesting, and much more Catholic, alternative to what the predominant culture tells us are possible viable forms of government since the mid-20th century – hard leftism or liberal/libertine capitalism.  I’ve never been fully on board with such corporatist/distributist economic systems as outlined by Chesterton and Belloc (among many others) in the first half of the 20th century, as they seemed a bit too utopian to be practical.  But Salazar’s Portugal probably came the closest of any deliberately Catholic state (deliberate in the sense of being constructed to comport as closely as possible to the Church’s social and general magisterial beliefs up to that point in time) in achieving a reasonable mean – being Catholic, but also relatively prosperous, relatively free, and relatively non-tyrannical.  Some of my primary complaints against distributism is that it seemed a fine system for the late 18th century, but probably not too well suited for the 21st century.  Salazar’s Portugal serves as probably the best argument against that complaint.

Regarding a tyrannical state, Salazar’s Portugal was much less violent, as a government, than was the corollary next door in Franco’s Spain.  Of course, the Estado Novo had the incalculable benefit of not being founded in the midst of a brutal civil war.  Even still, however, there was a very powerful leftist faction in Portugal, which had held power several times in the decades preceding 1934, and remained a serious threat through much of Salazar’s time in power.  However, by judicously practicing Catholic Doctrine, the Salazar regime only put about 5 souls to death throughout it’s nearly 40  year existence – a far cry from the tens of thousands that died, or were killed, in Spain, even after the end of the Spanish Civil War.  Now, I’m quite sympathetic to Franco’s government and think its hand was forced by the radical, unyielding leftists it had to deal with – these leftists started the Civl War by attacking the Catholic Faith and massacring hundreds of priests and religious – but it is still an impressive achievement.  Salazar had very nearly as divided and fractious a country to manage as did Franco, but managed to do so with far less bloodshed.

Unfortunately, the quite-detailed video series I post below is not complete.  It only goes until about World War II.  Many of Salazar’s greatest social achievements – the economic rebuilding of Portugal along Catholic corporatist lines – had to wait until after World War II.  The author of the series promises that some new uploads will be coming this fall and winter – I will be sure to share those when they become available.

For now, you can learn a great deal about an important, but deliberately forgotten, leader on the world stage for much of the 20th century.  I say he was deliberately forgotten, because Salazar’s Portugal, like (to varying degrees) Franco’s Spain, and Dolfuss’ and Schussnigg’s Austria, and a few other locales, truly do serve as contrary examples to what we are told was the “only sane choice” in the “inevitable” liberal capitalist state.  Not just contrary examples, but examples that, in many ways, are more just, more moral, and – it can be argued – much  more conducive to the good of souls than the  decaying, decadent, corrupt states we find ourselves in throughout the West today.  In terms of tyranny, how many people does the United States kill each year, either here at home or abroad?  I’m no opponent of the death penalty, but it does make for an illuminating contrast.

I hope you enjoy these videos as much as I have.  Since these videos are difficult to find on Youtube, and since, for some reason, many do not show up on the channel’s playlist, I post them all below.  I knew comparitively little about Salazar’s Portugal before watching these, and most of what I had learned was harshly critical, so these videos will hopefully prove enlightening for you as well.  I know you’ll think, there’s too many, it’ll take too long, history is boooring!!!  Do yourself a favor and watch these, at one sitting or over several months, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised, especially if you have any interest in Church history:

This Is the Luxury Home Former Bishop Farrell Occupied During His Time in Dallas September 18, 2019

This actually came out in 2014, but I missed it until just recently.  An “anonymous donor” (perhaps a certain former cardinal, or an ally of his?) mysteriously gifted this luxury home to now Cardinal Farrell just immediately as he arrived in Dallas, and the home was sold instantly upon his departure.  No other occupant of the episcopal see of Dallas has ever lived in such lavish circumstances, to my knowledge.  Ostensibly, this home was to allow Farrell to entertain the great and the rich, to pull donations from them.  Somehow both his predecessor and successor managed to entertain potential donors without recourse to such luxurious surroundings.  There is absolutely no concrete evidence that this home was associated with any particular donations. There were occasional, frankly unbelievable, statements from Farrell that he really just wanted to have a poor little apartment, but was just forced, forced, you see, by the hard life of being a bishop to live in such ostentatious circumstances, and this in a diocese that was then, and remains – or so we are told – essentially existing in penury.

I frankly find it preposterous, and even insulting, this claim that soliciting donations made such a home absolutely necessary.  As if donors would not donate if not entertained in extremely comfortable surroundings?  Please.  This was for Farrell, who has made personal comfot a focal point in his episcopal career, from his days in the corrupt and decadent Legionaires of Christ to his cardinalate in Rome, where he was the recipient of nearly $30,000 from the corrupt and fallen Bishop Bransfield of West Virginia to to help pay for his living expenses in Rome. Apparently, the extravagance Farrell lavished on himself in terms of living arrangements was not limited to Dallas.  After the scandal broke about this sodomite, drug-addicted Bishop Bransfield (another creature of the Washington, DC circle of graft, immorality, and self-pleasing surrounding McCarrick, Wuerl, and, yes, Kevin J. Farrell), Farrell ostensibly returned the money, but why would bishops be in the habit of personally gifting each other tens of thousands of dollars? One of Farrell’s defenses in this case was that this kind of thing goes on all the time, and is no big deal.

Below, Farrell’s 6100 square foot home in a very expensive section of North Dallas.  Bought for $1.2 million in 2007, today it is worth north of $2 million.  Taxes alone on this property would be in the vicinity of $30,000 a year.  It had over 1000 square feet of garage and occupied nearly half an acre of extremely expensive land.

You can decide why a supposedly celibate priest would need to live in such circumstances.  If those walls could talk, eh?

I’m sure they’d tell a tale of superior virtue and rigid self-denial, right?  I kid.  But just on a purely human level, this is an exceedingly poor look for a Catholic bishop, and practically invites scandal.  Especially in a diocese that was supposedly flat busted, monetarily, from the Rudy Kos payout.  Yes, yes, anonymous donor, yes, supposedly Farrell raised money at this house (impossible to prove, of course), but our bishops are supposed to be our guides in all aspects of the Faith, and set a personal example for all us.  Saintly bishops produce saintly laity.  And vice versa.

[UPDATE]: See the bottom of the post for an addendum from my dad. I very briefly glossed over Jim’s career at Arco and he beefed it up a bit, for all of those interested.  Yes, both of you]

Longtime readers may recall that I was once on a broadcast radio show with Jim and Vicki Middleton.  The show ended in 2012 when Vicki unfortunately passed away rather suddenly.  I think that was a grace of God, I don’t think she could stand to see what this country is becoming today.  She was right about so very much, including the endlessly voracious appetite of the Left for tyranny.  Equally sadly, Jim Middleton, her spouse of many years, passed away this past September 12.  Jim was a very strong and patriotic American, a rock-solid conservative, and a devout Catholic convert.  He was also a gifted engineer and high-level oil executive and played a vital role in opening up the North Slope of Alaska to large scale oil production and later served as President of Arco Oil and Gas.  My dad worked with Jim for 25 years and knew him quite well.

The funeral was held at the Carmelite Monastery in Dallas, the same monastery that served host as the site of the diocesan Mater Dei Traditional Latin Mass community for many years prior to Mater Dei getting its own parish (one of the few good acts of the previous bishop of this Diocese, now Cardinal Kevin Farrell. “allowing” Mater Dei to have its own church – such generosity).  Jim and Vicki gave extremely generously to the Carmelite Monastery over the years, and were extremely close with, and helpful towards, the Carmelite nuns.  As such, by a special bequest, the mortal remains of both Jim and Vicki will now repose on the grounds of the monastery.

I was fortunate to be able to attend the Novus Ordo funeral Mass yesterday.  Father Paul Weinberger, who has received a good deal of attention on this blog recently, and who was very close to the Middleton’s and played a great role in their becoming stalwart Catholics from episcopal converts, offered the Mass.  So, yes, it was a Novus Ordo, but it was offered with as much reverence and dignity as is possible with this creation of “modern” man.  The sermon was very solid as usual, as Father Weinberger devoted about half of the 15 minutes to ably destroy a number of protestant talking points against the Faith, such as, we do not worship images, works done in concert with Grace are necessary for salvation, the communion of saints and the existence of purgatory, and so forth.  Since the attendance was at least 50% protestant, that was no small act, but was conducted with such charity and finesse that rather than rankle his sermon elicited a number of laughs and smiles.

Vicki and Jim were good souls and gave tremendously of their time, talent, and treasure for the good of the Church and souls.  They deserve a prayer or two, or many.  I pray I never forget them in my prayers for the souls of the deceased.

A few poor photos from the Mass.  I thank the good Carmelite sisters for again opening their chapel, as they regularly do.  I with them well and they may be assured of my prayers, too!

[Addendum]:

When the north slope was being developed, it was still a part of NAPD (North American Producing Division).  Billy Jack Lancaster headed NAPD.  Middleton was in charge of a special engineering group whose job was to fabricate the production modules and barge them from Ingleside to Point Barrow, and then offload them onto gravel causeways and roll them onto the slope.  Billy Jack smoked himself to death and died of lung cancer.  Bill Keeler head of Engineering for NAPD replaced Billy Jack.  Keeler’s 16 year old son killed Bill and his wife.  Ken Dickerson and Jim Coffee (lawyers) quickly popped the kid into Timberlawn and he never served a day in jail for the murders.  Dallas had no more men in the line of succession.  NAPD had always operated independently of Corporate (which was in LA), primarily because they generated 125% of the Corporations income.  Not no more. This opening gave LA a chance to put their own man in charge.  Then picked Glen Simpson who managed the Alaska operations – – he was a former Sinclair hand and followed orders well.  He was a rigid disaster.

Meanwhile, Middleton was placed in charge of Anaconda (a mining operation that was, unbeknownst to ARCO, badly losing money at the time they bought it), and he stopped it from hemorrhaging cash.  By that time NAPD had become Arco Oil and Gas, along with Arco Exploration and Arco Alaska.  When Simpson was forced out, Jim became President of AOGC.  He did a hell of a good job, and always backed me to the hilt.

I add, it was after Jim retired in 1994 that ARCO quickly went downhill, and its management sold out to BP in a panic in 2000.  The only remnant of ARCO today is its chain of gas stations on the West Coast and in Arizona.

This post may contain old news for many readers, but I thought it should be mentioned that the quality of Catholic commentary in video form continues to increase.  While Youtube may be a wholly owned subsidiary of a parent company staffed by many of the most despicable people on earth – Google – it does host some very good Catholic content, at least until Google decides these good people are gaining too much traction, and ban-hammers them off their platform (Bitchute is a good alternative, but  it does contain quite a bit of wacky and even dangerously immoral content, but so does most everything else these days).  Right now, for this particular blogger, probably the best traditional/tradition-leaning Catholic channel on  Youtube (overall) is that of Dr. Taylor Marshall.  I’m a bit surprised at coming to this conclusion, for while I have known Taylor and his family for years in passing through our local TLM parish, for many years I wasn’t a huge fan.  His content seemed to tend towards the conservative/neo-Catholic for quite some time.  So while he did do some great works like being a or the founder of the Troops of St. George, I found him a bit squishy on a number of topics, especially those closest to the core elements of the traditional critique of the post-conciliar Church.

But that was then.  Starting about 12-18 months ago, and especially in the wake of the Vigano expose and the Church’s “summer of shame” (hint: there will be worse to come, much worse), Taylor really got red-pilled and became quite a hard-hitting critic of the crisis in the Church.   His views generally align quite closely with my own, which of course means he is absolutely right about purt’ near everything.  Seriously, I don’t want to overplay my criticism of the Taylor of 5 years ago, he was generally solid all along, but over the past year he’s really been clobbering the evil forces acting within and against Holy Mother Church.   I now make a point of catching all of his videos as early as I can, and agree with most everything both Dr. Marshall and his co-host Dr. Tim Gordon have to say (but not quite – sadly, noone is quite so perfect as me).  They are addressing most all the major crisis issues in the Church today and doing so from a steadfastly traditional viewpoint, and not pulling any punches over sacred cows like the current occupant of the papacy, the heresies emanating from Rome in these dark days, and the root of the crisis beginning far before Vatican II.  I still hope to put together a real magnum opus (hah) podcast on that subject, but baby steps.

Another great source which I have highlighted before is the inestimable Charles Coulombe.  I love his weekly uploads at Tumblar House and find his talks, if possible, even more edifying than those of Taylor Marshall.  Charles is both a rock with regard to the Faith, and is especially strong on the absolutely vital issue of Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus (I cannot recommend his book on the subject enough, it is eye-opening, even for one well-versed in Trad literature), and is also a veritable fount of knowledge on matters related to Church history and Catholic culture (rather unlike the website of the same name).  It is well worth your time to dedicating an hour or so a week listening to his Youtube videos.  While Taylor’s viewership has exploded, Coulombe’s remains relatively static, which is a real shame, because his commentary is equally deserving of a far wider audience.

Next, there is another source I’ve recommended many times, but it bears repeating:  The Fatima Center.  Even with the untimely deaths of Fr. Nicholas Gruner and Mr. Charles Vennari, they regularly upload, almost weekly, very good catechetical materials from extremely traditional sources.  I find especially the videos from Fr. Isaac Mary Relyea edifying and entertaining.

Then, there is Return to Tradition by Anthony Stine.  A bit like Taylor Marshall’s content, it is both contemporary and topical.  In fact, one might liken it sort of a pocket version of Taylor’s much longer broadcasts, covering many of the same topics from a generally similar view (though, of course, they differ in a number of details) but in a much shorter format.  It’s a worthy site, especially his excerpts from Church doctrinal documents in his weekend uploads, but in terms of preference is probably properly listed in terms of order in this post.  HIs production values are of a bit lower standard than the other three.

And, of course, there remains the grand-daddy of all Catholic Youtube channels of which I am aware, that of Sensus Fidelium and the daily uploads of sermons from very solidly orthodox and traditional priests.  I’m certain most all readers will be aware of this channel already.

And now, good listeners, I turn the floor over to you, to solicit other “channels” you may find worthwhile on Youtube or other, similar platforms.  One problem today is the veritable embarrassment of riches, it is difficult at times to keep up with more than a few channels, especially when they produce prodigious amounts of content like Dr. Marshall and Sensus Fidelium. I of course also enjoy the weekly commentaries from Michael Matt at The Remnant, and some other less explicitly Catholic but more historical efforts that still tie in with the Church’s proud history.  Nevertheless, I would appreciate any recommendations you have, especially for solid but lesser known channels.

I have another, far more obscure channel to bring to your attention at a later date, God willing, but that is such a different topic and requires an extensive introduction, and so it must  wait for another time.

[UPDATE] Sorry folks I’ve been away from the blog so long I forgot about the horrific formatting issues blogspot brings into WordPress.  Another curse from Google. Should be fixed.

And the apparent violent felon also appears to be in senior management at the most vile and despicable company on earth, Google.  A quick note to Google, when you have to remind yourself in your stupid masthead not to be evil, you already are.  That’s the inevitable consequence of being staffed with narcissistic leftists:

So what do you think triggered our little skinny soi boi leftist on this particular day?  Did he cause a baby or two to be murdered, or is it simply like a demon encountering someone, anyone, with a grace-filled soul?  These are rhetorical questions, of course.  But this jerk Quinn Chasan should not have a job as of this evening.  Knowing Google, he’ll probably get promoted.

I suppose I should not be shocked that the political elite in Britain has determined to tell the hoi polloi that their vote no longer matters. The best and probably final shot at Brexit is being blocked by parliamentary action, after a group of Tories split from their Prime Minister (he subsequently kicked them out of the party) and voted in favor of a bill that will block Boris Johnson from pursuing a no-deal Brexit.  This is the British elite telling the public they are nothing but farm animals producing taxes for the elite to decide what to do this.  I thought it was the most breathtakingly anti-democratic act I had seen in memory……………until I saw a former Chair of the corrupt and destructive Federal Reserve basically calling for the Fed to do all in its power to block a democratically elected president and bring him down in 2020:

“There’s even an argument that the election itself falls within the Fed’s purview,” Mr. Dudley writes. “After all, Trump’s reelection arguably presents a threat to the U.S. and global economy, to the Fed’s independence and its ability to achieve its employment and inflation objectives. If the goal of monetary policy is to achieve the best long-term economic outcome, then Fed officials should consider how their decisions will affect the political outcome in 2020.”

Wow. Talk about stripping the veil. These columns wondered if Mr. Dudley was politically motivated while he was at the Fed, favoring bond buying to finance Barack Obama ’s deficit spending, urging the Fed to intervene in markets to boost housing, and keeping interest rates low for as long as possible. And now here Mr. Dudley is confirming that he views the Fed as an agent of the Democratic Party.

Which is just one branch of the bi-coastal (and that’s not all they’re bi- about) elite’s beloved and all-powerful uniparty. We have seen abundant anti-democratic, screw the little people action here in the US over the past few years.

I agree totally with Glenn Reynolds on this one:

A key lesson of the Trump era is that every single allegedly neutral, nonpartisan, super-professional institution has turned out to be, in fact, a bunch of partisan hacks shilling for the permanent political party. Voters can be forgiven for adopting a “burn it all down” attitude in response.

Dang right.  I’ve never cottoned to that before, but increasingly, I think just about all of it needs to be torched.  “Democracy” is a sham pulled over the eyes of suckers.

Which, it was our birthday, precious. And we are this many………. September 6, 2019

[UPDATE: COMMENTS CLOSED.  You people know I have your e-mails and IPs, right?  It’s kind of obvious when you all use the same one. This campaign of character assassination will not be permitted to continue.]

This is one of those sad/happy, good news-bad news kinda things.  Good local priest Father Paul Weinberger (as to the good, you can find several instances of this by searching his name on this blog) has been reassigned from his role as pastor of St. William parish in Greenville, on the periphery of the Diocese, to St. Monica parish in north Dallas.  I just spoke with Father Weinberger, and he advises that he will be priest in residence at Saint Monica, and will serve publicly there offering Mass and Confession, but only after a period of personal time in which he takes care of some long-delayed matters related to the estates of his deceased parents.

I say this is good news/bad news because it is bittersweet anytime a priest is reassigned, especially one that had been so long at one parish as Father Weinberger had.  He had been at St. William about 18 years and had expressed hopes of serving there for the rest of his priestly ministry. In that time, many families had moved to the Greenville area to enjoy both a more rural manner of living and to take advantage of Father Weinberger’s very solid catechesis, reverent liturgy, and abundant Confession. Obviously many of those people are very sad to see Father Weinberger go.  Father Weinberger is being replaced by one of the Diocese’s younger priests, Father Edwin Leonard.

But now, Father Weinberger is moving on to St. Monica, a centrally located and well known parish, where many more souls may take advantage of his gifts.  I’m certain he will be well received.  Whether Father Weinberger will be offering Latin Mass at St. Monica or publicly performing other devotions such as the nightly Rosary processions and frequent confessions is not known at this time (uh, because I forgot to ask).

Our family attended St. William for several years before eventually, and not without some sadness, moving on to Mater Dei and the full time Traditional Latin Mass.  We have missed Father Weinberger over the years and look forward to being able to see him again, now that he is much closer to Irving. It was a nearly hour to drive out to Greenville, now he’ll only be about 15 minutes away.

Please pray for Father Weinberger and the parishioners of St. William. Losing a long time beloved priest can be very painful. I understand that at least some of the families will be traveling to Mater Dei on Sundays, so you Mater Dei readers be on the lookout for new faces (I know……..which ones?)!  I will provide updates on Father Weinberger and his service at St. Monica as they become available.

Objective Unlocked – Proportion of White Christians Declines over 50% in 40 Years September 5, 2019

This is what several decades of deliberate attack and undermining of the Christian faith was aimed at, making what was formerly the most religiously active developed country in the world areligious and ripe for conversion to social and economic leftism.  That, and the massive, unrestrained influx of peoples from cultures often hostile towards the mores and beliefs of the former majority of this nation. The US that I knew as a child no longer exists.  From a country that was 81% white and Christian, by at least one measure, in 1976, the country by 2016 had become only 43% so.  And polls show the percentage has declined steeply in the past 3 years, to around 38-40%.  Being from Texas, I have seen this happen with my own eyes.

Unfortunately, it must be said that white Christians – or perhaps I should say “Christians” – played their own massive role in this unprecedented demographic change. Abortion and, even more so, contraception, have driven white Christian fertility down below the replacement rate.  Given that, it was almost inevitable that the vacuum thus created would create economic pressures to attract huge numbers of (economic) migrants.  It was also almost inevitable that the proportion of white Christians, not even bothering to replace themselves, would decrease.  Of course, the political-economic elites have driven immigration rates far above what was needed simply to insure a relatively healthy and stable population.  They have pursued their own selfish interest in this matter.  But the white “Christians” have done much to bring about this decline, and among those Catholics are some of the most guilty, since they should and most, even with the collapse of the teaching authority of the Church (by design), indeed do know the Truth Christ has revealed on this most vital matter – that contraception is always and everywhere sinful, and that being fruitful and multiplying is a great blessing from God.

Some of the most energetic opponents of immigration and demographic change should be looking in the mirror when they search for whom to blame.

The data:

According to PPRI, self-described ‘White Christians’ made up 81% of the population in 1976, but only 43% in 2016.

They wrote, “White Christians are a declining proportion of the U.S. population: 81% in 1976”, adding “43% in 2016”.

Illegal immigration, in particular, has been a contentious hot topic for several years.

Crime and excessive welfare participation have both been called into question.

One America News Network Political Correspondent Ryan James Girdusky wrote, “In 1998, non-citizens made up 36.9 percent of federal arrests”, adding “In 2018, non-citizens made up 63.9 percent of federal arrests.”

In a second tweet, he added specifics about non-citizens from Mexico and Central America as a whole.

“In 1998, non-citizens from Mexico made up 27.9% of arrests”, he added, “In 2018 non-citizens from Mexico made up 39.9% of arrests.”

On Central America, Girdusky notes “In 1998, non-citizens from Central America made up 1.2% of arrests,” and, “In 2018, non-citizens from Central America made up 20.4% of arrests.”

I do not mean to sound defeatist, but even if Trump is able to build a continuous wall, and that wall massively reduces illegal immigration, it will almost certainly be too late.  Trump’s administration is bragging about permitting more legal immigration than ever before.  If so, he has significantly misread the intention of those who elected him, the large majority of who want all immigration, legal and otherwise, drastically curtailed for some time, at least several decades, to give this nation time to absorb and assimilate the unprecedented numbers who have entered over the past 50 years or so.  Right now, whatever progress he is making seems to be much too little, and too late.

A final thought his how much the churches themselves have done to bring about this collapse.  From the gimmicks of the “hardcore” evangelical type groups to the utter collapse of the mainline protestant sects, to the continuing self-demolition of the Catholic Church, modern American Christianity has for 30 years or more had practically no success in keeping its own, let alone rolling back the constant advance of the leftist juggernaut.  Our beloved Holy Mother Church will become much, much, much smaller – smaller than I think many can envision – before she is fully healed (barring, of course, some dramatic Divine intervention).  But that is a topic for another time.
