“Millennial Democrats” Have Never Heard of the Cuban Missile Crisis, the entire Cold War, or the modern states of Russia and China November 29, 2017

Apparently, they believe North Korea’s nascent ICBMs (still appears they have no workable reentry vehicle, and it’s no mean task to get them to work, we spent years and billions on that alone) represent the first time the US has ever been threatened by nuclear-tipped ICBMs.  I would have thought they would have at least heard of the Cuban Missile Crisis, foolishly caused by the incompetence of John Fitzgerald Kennedy the proudest moment of the God-Emperor JFKs administration, but apparently not.

Then there was that 40+ year unpleasantness known as the Cold War, with thousands of hair-trigger warheads, some stationed only 5 minutes flight time away from the US coast in submarines, ready and able to go off at a moment’s notice.

And, of course, persisting to this day, Russia and China have ICBMs targeted on the US.  Both have continued to develop new warheads, new ICBM and SLBM delivery systems, and new defensive technologies even while the US has stood entirely pat with a now 25  year moratorium on the research, development, testing, and production of new (or existing) nuclear weapons save for some modest rebuilds in the increasingly unlikely hope that the current arsenal would work if called upon (it’s not that unlikely, yet, but each year makes the problems of so-called “stockpile maintenance and reliability” that much greater).

A more general question – has there ever been a tweet that actually increased a tweeter’s stature in the world?

Deliberate, weaponized idiocy is the primary recruiting tool of the democrat party.  It’s also a perfect demonstration of leftist projection – it was Obama’s policy of appeasement, including gifting North Korea with billions of dollars in aid, that likely funded their weapon’s development programs.  That, and turning loose $150 billion in Iranian assets in a the biggest giveaway since Munich 1938.  How much of that unfrozen Iranian money has ended up atop North Korean ICBMs is unknown at this time, but given how these two nation’s missile and nuke development programs are run basically as one big bi-national effort, probably more than a little bit.

So far from being the Shield of Faith they’d like to claim, insulating the American people from a dangerously unhinged North Korean regime, Obama was actually a primary instigator of whatever terror these democrats now feel.  But they could never admit that, it be like me denying Jesus Christ, though they have every reason to make their denial, and I have none.

I guess this would just be totally lost on them:

Saint Aloysius Gonzaga on the Practice of Humility June 6, 2017

If you’re anything like me, you may have a hard time practicing humility.  I don’t think blogging as an enterprise is well-suited for the development of humility, but it doesn’t have to be incompatible with the practice of this virtue.

In this era of exaltation of the self and the cult of instant gratification, probably few virtues aside from purity have been more trammeled on and disregarded than humility.

Mostly I fail in humility in preferring my own thoughts, plans, and opinions to others.  But I also do so in myriad other ways.  Probably most readers are stronger in this virtue than I am.  If so, please pray for me.

On the other hand, if you feel you could use some help in the growth of the practice of humility, you might consider the counsel given by the great Saint Aloysius Gonzaga. There are no great mysteries or deep behavioral insights below, but I have found that imploring the Lord, the Blessed Virgin, and the Saints for their help in acquiring this virtue can reap great rewards. Especially focus on those Saints known for their humility, such as St. Teresa of Avila and Saint Mary Magdalene dei Pazzi. Also, St. Joseph, especially for men, is our model of humility.  He is barely mentioned in the Gospels, because he married exceedingly well the practice of humility with his role as protector and provider of the two holiest creatures who have ever trod the earth. I find this an especial challenge for fathers, marrying humility with right family leadership, not asserting what I want because of my role, but also not failing in my God-given duty as leader of our domestic church and family.  It is a difficult balance, one I cannot say I always practice with perfection.

Intro aside, here are Saint Aloysius Gonzaga’s two rules for making progress in humility:

The first means is to remember that although this virtue is most becoming to man, on account of his lowliness, nevertheless it does not grow upon our earth, but must be obtained from Heaven by prayer to Him, from Whom every best gift and every perfect gift comes.  Since, then, you are proud, force yourself to ask this virtue of the infinite Majesty of God, its first Source, with all the humility of which you are capable, and ask it through the merits and intercession of the deep humility of Jesus Christ, Who, when He was in the form of God, emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant.

The second means is to have recourse to the intercession of those Saints who have especially excelled in this virtue.

Remember, first, that if the Saints while on earth merited to obtain this virtue in such a high degree, they must certainly now be still more worthy and deserving, since in Heaven they are far more pleasing to God than they ever were on earth. And as they no longer need to humble themselves for their own sake, since by this virtue they have already won their way to the heights of Heaven, beg of them to obtain for you from God this virtue of humility.

Secondly, consider that on earth everyone naturally tries to help those who follow the calling in which he has distinguished himself.  For example, a great general who frequents the King’s Court will recommend to his royal master those who devote themselves to service in the army; a distinguished man of letters will patronize those who follow a literary vocation………So too in Heaven those who excelled in some particular virtue more than in others, whilst they lived on earth, will most favor and help those who are striving most to acquire these virtues, and who seek their intercession in order to obtain them.  These considerations should encourage you, in the first place, to have recourse especially to the Blessed Virgin Mother of God, for she excelled in the virtue of humility far beyond any other mere creature.  Then hasten to the holy Apostles, to St. Peter, who said of himself “Depart from me, O Lord, for I am a sinful man), and to St. Paul, who, although he had been rapt into the third heaven, had such a humble opinion of himself that he said: “Jesus came to save sinners, of whom I am the chief.”

The first of these two thoughts will help you to understand how powerful these Saints are with God in obtaining for  you this virtue; and the second will show you not only how much they are able to do, but also how willing they are to do it.

Scott Adams Explodes Cult of Gaia, Reveals Falsehood of Climate Models March 10, 2017

Scott Adams of Dilbert fame, who has been revealing himself to be quite the anti-leftist of late, attacks the cult of gaia-worshipping climate activists who have been telling  us constantly for over 40 years that Mother Earth is doomed, DOOMED, unless – surprise! – their favorite political platforms are enacted.  And these same people tell us how terrible it is for Christians to influence politics with their religious views.  What about YOUR religious views, sunshine?

At any rate, this is pretty good, just how many climate models turn out wrong, for just one to be right?  Is it 50?  100?  5000?  How many that might be right, today, were right 20 years ago, or will be in another 20 years?  I can tell you the answer: none.

This is a sort of Occam’s Razor logic that is deadly to fantasists:

I will bet anyone $1 million dollars that I can come up with a climate forecast model that ignores C02 and still predicts the temperature 30 years from now to within half a degree. Does anyone want to take that bet?

Obviously there is a trick involved, so I won’t accept your bet for ethical reasons. But let’s see if you can figure out how I could win that bet every time.

I am 100% confident I can build a climate prediction model, using my current skill set, that will predict the measured temperature in 30 years to within half a degree.

Furthermore, you can pick whatever measurement type and place you want for the bet. My trick does not depend on doing anything clever with the measurement itself.

I can also build an accurate climate prediction model for any local geography. I can do it for the ocean or the air. And in each case, I have a 100% chance of getting the right answer to within half a degree.

Would you take the bet?………

……..how I could make a climate model that is right every time?

All I need to do is make a hundred different models, each producing output that is half a degree apart, until I have at least one model that fits every possible outcome. My models would look like this:

Model 1: Current Temp + .5 degrees

Model 2: Current Temp + 1 degree

Model 3: Current Temp + 1.5 degrees

Etc.

And I’d include all the temperatures below the current temperature too, just in case we start to cool off. In 30 years, one of my prediction models will be correct by chance. I’ll throw away all the loser models and collect my $1 million bet.

Now keep all of that in your head and take a second look at this headline. Does this model still look impressive? I’m guessing there were quite a few prediction models in the past, and lots of them now too. One of them will be more accurate than the others in 30 years.

Does that really tell you anything?

My point here is that I don’t care how many climate models are accurate if you don’t tell me how many were wrong. If 99 out of 100 climate scientists create models that are wrong, and one gets it right, would you bet on that winning model to stay right in the future?

It is terrifying the degree to which the organs of state have been weaponized against the citizenry in pursuit of a corrupt, self-serving political agenda March 5, 2017

I’ve never really believed in conspiracy theories.  But if stuff like this is happening (and it is), this country is all but dead.  Deep state indeed, it is reminiscent of the sclerotic, self-interested, corrupt, incompetent bureaucracy that has doomed so many great empires before, from Rome to China.

If even 1/10th of what Obama actually did was even hinted about a Republican president the media would never cease howling until that president was impeached, if not imprisoned.  This guy deliberately weaponized the government against its own citizens in order to advance his ideological agenda. The federal government – at least at the appointed and SES levels – is almost wholly corrupt and dominated by members of the “elite” uniparty.  They are eager participants in this “fundamental transformation.”

You can tell how close they thought they were to that transformation being permanent by the fury and inanity of their continuing meltdown over Nov 8 2016.

Good analysis from Stephan Molyneaux below, but there are some bad words:

If I were Trump I would fire most of the current upper level bureaucracy.  Can union rules and friendly judges prevent that from happening?

How about replacing a lot of these bureaucrats with military personnel as Reagan did during the PATCO strike in ’81?  Why not have 23 year old SPC4 Clint R. Petry from Tomkinsville, KY be a middle manager at the EPA for a while?  I bet management would improve dramatically.

Tucker Carlson Brilliantly Lets Leftist Riot Leader (and school teacher) Hang Herself with Her Own Words February 16, 2017

This has been around quite a bit, but since I have almost no time to post I’ll go ahead and run with it.

What a hateful example of humanity.  I am actually not in the slightest surprised that this unhinged, fascist leader of violent riots is a school teacher.  As reader TT notes, she is the ultimate advertisement for homeschooling.  It is unsurprising given the unthinking, feelz-dominated, immature, ignorant propagandized product the public schools are turning out en masse.  Certainly there are exceptions, but this creature Yvette Felarca destroys herself as the very incarnation of the very things she alleges to decry.

I’ve never seen a more perfectly realized example of leftist projection of their own faults and evils onto others:

Fascism is committing violence and organizing others to commit violence, as she commits violence and organizes others to do so.  So she also gives perfect evidence of most Leftist’s perfect lack of self-awareness. Hypocrite, much?  What should we expect from people who are passionately committed to the demonic slaughter (and offering) of millions of innocent babies a year?

In reality, at all of Milo’s events where violence has occurred, that violence has been perpetrated overwhelmingly, almost exclusively, by leftist opponents of Milo and his fans.  The primary bit of evidence of supposed violence against leftist opponents of Milo – a man being shot outside a talk given at the University of Washington – was an act taken in self-defense after a man was beaten by Milo opponents, which the local police have seen as being so clear cut that the man who committed the shooting has not even been charged with a crime in hyper-liberal, institutionalized 2nd Amendment hating Washington state.

No one on the right is calling for the mass murder of millions of people, but the fact that this chillingly calm woman believes such is occurring gives me great concern, as I have to wonder if she is not yet again projecting her personal desires onto others.  When you start tarring millions of people as Nazis, the climate is being created for mass violence against them.

And Milo – whatever he is, whether you like him or not – may be a provocateur, he may derive great pleasure in exploding the sacred cows of the Left, but his talks are actually extremely thoughtful, fact-filled, and persuasive.  It is most likely this woman who so plainly hates him has listened to more than a couple of 30 second soundbites of Milo’s talks.  But that doesn’t matter in the least, it is precisely Milo’s persuasiveness that makes him such a threat, which is why he and his followers must be destroyed at all costs.  Of course, telling kids they can’t have something is the perfect way to get them to want it even more, so this effort has already backfired.

There is no doubt in my mind that we are seeing an incredibly carefully orchestrated effort to destroy the Trump administration before it starts.  The furor over the minor and temporary travel restrictions on citizens of certain states, the firing of Mike Flynn engineered through the illegal and dangerous leaking of deeply classified resources, the delay in approving presidential appointments of eminently qualified people, and the ever-ready, instantaneous and media-saturated “spontaneous protests” against every action Trump takes, and every appearance of a Trump supporter, points to a detailed, well-funded, highly organized effort being directed by people with the means and resources to bring such things about.  This is the elite in full blown revolt over this election, and they are demonstrating they have absolutely zero concern over seeing innocent Americans injured or even killed if they happen to get in their way, or simply caught at the wrong place and the wrong time.

This is deeply disturbing stuff.  There hasn’t been such open opposition from the permanent (and thoroughly leftist) federal bureaucracy to a legitimately elected president in this country’s history.  Forget Flynn, do you think leftist protestors carrying blunt objects (banned from flight – and people were beaten inside airports with no security intervention) would be allowed to penetrate deeply into numerous airports without some kind of inside help?  That all looked arranged!

I’m running out of time but this is looking increasingly worse.  I don’t like where it appears things are headed.  If large numbers of people start to develop the sense that democracy has failed, that leaders they elected to institute changes/reforms are blocked by a self-serving, self-interested elite, the same elite that has openly broached the topic of violence in the streets by engaging in/encouraging it themselves……..well, situations like that do not tend to end happily.  I am far from the only one reading very troubling implications in all this.  And it’s likely only the beginning, the deep state/overstate whatever you want to call it has shown their hand, they mean not only to destroy Trump’s presidency, but to kill or jail him outright.

Hey, OT, but if you would, do me a good Catholic a solid and please pray for longtime reader BC, he comments occasionally but is facing a recurring medical issue that is not particularly life-threatening but thoroughly unpleasant and painful to recover from.

………and His Mother, Patroness of the Americas, praised as well.

Last night was a stunning upset and a repudiation of the globalist, transnational, one-world order that elites around the world but especially in the US and Western Europe have tried to impose on increasingly unwilling populations policies that enrich and empower a narrow few while impoverishing great swaths of people.

Trump was very far from my ideal candidate.  I don’t know too many people not in the alt-right who were really behind him and convinced of a true conversion to conservative beliefs, but he was better than the demonic alternative with which we were faced – an alternative that extended well beyond the corrupt felon Hillary Clinton and her rapist husband to the entire progressive/socialist media/government/academic/cultural nexus.  It was a giant FU to gender theory, allowing adult men in little girl’s restrooms, safe spaces and trigger warnings.  And a well deserved one at that.

But as I noted yesterday, this hardly means we are saved.  It might mean, hopefully, that we are not doomed, however.  Under Klinton, we would have been, the enormous damage done during 8 years of government under the most extreme socialist ever elected president in this nation’s history would have been made permanent and irreversible.  With the Repubniks retaining control of the House and Senate – but narrowly in the latter – will some steps to control the border, terminate the nightmare fiasco of Obamacare, and repeal horribly damaging trade deals finally come to fruition?  One can hope, but the Repubniks have shown themselves to be uniquely unwilling to fight the progressive agenda even when the people give them repeated explicit mandates to do so.

And, as I noted yesterday, the principle problem that is consuming this nation like a cancer – it’s spiritual derangement – is not substantially improved by this election. We can hope things will not get dramatically worse, as they certainly would have under demon lady, but the rot still exists and Trump’s election is in a sense a confirmation of it.  30 years ago, a man with his atrocious personal morality would not have stood a chance of being elected.  Today, he can.  I’m gratified he won, but even that victory is a sign of how far we have fallen.

We shall see how things proceed from here.  I know many are excited and see great possibilities of some true rolling back of the satanic one world government/religion that has plainly been in the making from Rome to Washington, D.C., but whether those possibilities become reality is still a very uncertain thing.

For now, however, this is a time for celebration.  I was up till 2am waiting for Trump to finish the haggard would be queen.  My Lord, if nothing else, to finally be rid of that horrid, horrid woman is such a blessing.  May she never serve in public office again.  One would imagine the Qataris and Moroccans and Russian billionaires and others who made hundred million dollar donations to the Clinton Corruption Fund might be demanding a refund.  The schadenfreude – not really something Catholics should engage in, but impossible to resist at a time like this – has been sweet, delicious, and served up piping hot since about 9pm EST last night.  The liberal tears have been pouring like Niagara Falls – which makes an interesting contrast to the sense of resignation many conservatives/Christians had before the “miracle” happened and full evidence of the popular revolt against the self-serving plutocrats of the global elite was in view.  I hope Nigel Farage is right and that this is just phase 2 of a general worldwide rejection of the self-seeking elite who thought they had just about sewn up their permanent place in power.  That battle still has a very long way to go.

I also hope this election is the final nail in the coffin of the credibility of the leftist media.  They sold their souls to get Obama elected twice, and went all in, 100%+, for Hillary this time around, and still lost.  I pray that is a portent of things to come, that the self-anointed media elites will see their influence swiftly and permanently crater.

Even though Trump is very far from what one would call a moral man,  this is an election result I think Catholics can legitimately be happy about.  I know so many were praying so fervently – I’ll admit, I was on my knees much more about this election than I was either 2008 or 12, because this really seemed like this was it, the last chance to keep a chance! of this nation going off a cliff from which it could never return.  We’re very, very far from “happy days are here again,” but we’re also not playing a funereal dirge.

God must be praised in all things, in victory and defeat, but I am so very thankful that he had mercy on this nation and on the Remnant of faithful and decent people in this country.  I pray this is not a short lived victory, but just the start of a political, economic, and most importantly spiritual revolution – no, reawakening, in this country.  Either way, we need to remember to offer as many prayers of thanks as we did of heartfelt supplication.

In all things may His will be done.  I also want to thank the good priests and few bishops who encouraged their flocks to vote and to vote rightly.  There was a clear moral distinction in this election and, for once, a happy outcome resulted.

Now, pray God, may the victorious party finally implement the will of the people who put them into office.  We on the right tend to get fat dumb and happy after a perceived victory. This is not a time to relax and assume we have won, for the left and its spiritual master will never stop.  This is just the beginning, we must continue and even redouble our efforts.

But a few days of rejoicing is certainly in order.  God bless you all.

New York Times Endorses Hillary – as a Witch October 24, 2016

I kid you not.  This is as incredible as it is revealing.  The New  York Times, the self-anointed “paper of record” for these United States, has published an op-ed that comes out for not only endorsing Hillary Clinton, but endorsing her even under one of the worst – if most accurate – epithets used against her, as a witch.

In fact, claims the New  York Times, if Hillary practices satanic crafts, that would be a good thing:

Hillary Clinton’s more extreme critics routinely refer to her as a witch — earlier this month, Joseph Farah at World Net Daily asked, “Can you even imagine enduring four years of this witch as president?” He was presumably speaking figuratively, but a quick scroll through the Twitter hashtag #WitchHillary reveals that some people believe Mrs. Clinton actually practices the dark arts…….

…….In her excellent essay on Hillary Clinton and Victoria Woodhull, the first woman to run for president and a practicing Spiritualist [re: neo-pagan, at least, if not an out and out witch], Jessa Crispin argues that we could use more witchcraft in our politics, not less. Witches, she writes, have “faith in the balance between humans and the natural world, in the power of sexuality, in human equality and dignity, and in community over hierarchical power or authority.” [Can you believe we live in a time, when witchcraft would be sold as a helpful and healing religion, while Christianity is constantly derided and attacked as poisonous, harmful, and even something to be outlawed, or at least driven from the public square?]

These values have been powerfully absent from a campaign season dominated by a man who once boasted that his wealth and status allowed him to grab women’s genitals……..[And by a woman who believes babies should be murdered in their millions, and even supports the brutal dismemberment of full-term babies in so-called partial birth abortion.  She demands that taxpayers, including Christians who are mortified to their bones by such practice, pay for it.  The leftist media is pathetic, trying to keep people worked up over an admittedly terrible statement (which I pray was exaggeration or even a falsehood) that means nothing, while ignoring scandals from Hillary and the demonrat party that would finish the career of any non-demonrat instantly.  Election stealing. Constant astro-turfing and bussing in of professional protesters to hassle, threaten, and coerce Donald Trump supporters. Ballot box stuffing.  Illegal campaign contributions.  Pay for play scandals at the Clinton Foundation totally BILLIONS.  Coordination between the demonrats and the media.  Massive bribes to so-called civil servants at the FBI and elsewhere to help bury the e-mail scandal.  Total ignoring of the fact that Hillary deliberately mishandled literally thousands of pieces of classified information, and even revealed EXTREMELY classified information in the final debate, in addition to engaging in a massive coverup and destruction of government documents – paid for and owned by the people – to hide all these facts.  And this list only scratches the surface.  But NO, we have to always talk about an off-color comment. ]

…….For a fuller examination of what a politics of witchcraft might look like, though, I recommend “The Craft.” This 1996 film, which follows four high school students who form a coven, isn’t necessarily a how-to guide for successful witching, since things don’t end well for all the characters, but it is a story of women coming together to develop and use their awesome powers to punish their enemies. If you’re looking for some relief from the misogyny exhibited by this year’s Republican nominee, you could do a lot worse. [Well, we can see what motivates the feminist movement, which is eaten up through and through with devotees of witchcraft, neo-paganism, and other such evils.]

This is the world the Left is making.  Islam is not radical or dangerous, but Christianity is.  Witchcraft is good, sweet, and wholesome, but also a wonderful way to gain dark powers to punish your enemies.  Do they ever go back and re-read what they wrote, or are they so blinkered it simply does not even dawn on them, how much they contradict themselves?

We are swimming in a sea of unmatched evil. Everything is upside down, inside out, and back to front.  Unbelievable.

On a related note, a post at Townhall that tells of one NeverTrumper’s conversion to voting, with great reluctance, for DT.  It’s a pretty good piece for its reasonableness and for the recognition of factors that finally convinced him it was more important to beat Hillary than to maintain ideological purity. I present it without comment, because the thinking closing matches my own:

Last time a Clinton was on the ballot, I voted for Ross Perot. My vote didn’t deny Bob Dole the White House, but I confess I felt a smug sense of satisfaction in “refusing to settle.” I sure showed them, didn’t I?……..

……No, what’s changed is me. Not through introspection and reflection, but through watching the sickening display of activism perpetrated by a covert army with press credentials.

Bias has always been a factor in journalism. It’s nearly impossible to remove. Humans have their thoughts, and keeping them out of your work is difficult. But 2016 saw the remaining veneer of credibility, thin as it was, stripped away and set on fire.

More than anything, I can’t sit idly by and allow these perpetrators of fraud to celebrate and leak tears of joy like they did when they helped elect Barack Obama in 2008. I have to know I weighed in not only in writing but in the voting booth.

The media needs to be destroyed. And although voting for Trump won’t do it, it’s something. Essentially, I am voting for Trump because of the people who don’t want me to, and I believe I must register my disgust with Hillary Clinton.

I am not of the mindset that any vote not for Trump is a vote for Hillary, but a vote for Trump is a vote against Hillary. And I need to vote against Hillary. I need to vote against the media.

After the last debate, when no outlet “fact checked” Hillary’s lie that her opposition to the Heller decision had anything to do with children, or her lie that the State Department didn’t lose $6 billion under her leadership, I couldn’t hold out any longer.

A Trump administration at least will include people I trust in positions that matter. I don’t know if they will be able to hold him completely in check, but I know a Clinton administration will include people who have been her co-conspirators in corruption, and there won’t even be a media to hold her accountable.

The Wikileaks emails have exposed an arrogant cabal of misery profiteers who hold everyone, even their fellow travelers deemed not pure enough, in contempt. These bigots who’ve made their fortune from government service should be kept as far away from the levers of power as the car keys should be kept from anyone named Kennedy on a Friday night. My one vote against it will not be enough, but it’s all I can do and I have to do all I can do………..

………This isn’t a call to arms for “Never Trumpers” to follow suit; this is a choice I had to make for myself after much reflection. I wouldn’t presume to tell others how to act any more than I would accept the same from someone else. I would encourage them to consider what awaits the country should Hillary win. If they can’t vote against her by voting for him, at least spend these last two weeks of the election directing their ire toward Clinton……..

………A simple protest vote for a third party or a write-in of my favorite comic book character might feel good for a moment. It might even give me a sense of moral superiority that lasts until her first executive order damaging something I hold dear – or her first Supreme Court nominee. But the sting that will follow will far outlive that temporary satisfaction.

How to Buy a Cardinal’s Hat: Farrell Comes Out Hard for Amoris Laetitia October 17, 2016

Wellity wellity wellity………the things we learn my little droogies.  I had sometimes scratched my rassoodok, wondering if perhaps I weren’t a bit too hard on our former Bishop Kevin Farrell.  Now, the evidence against him was really overwhelming, but I think most every Catholic who has a sense of fealty towards his ecclesiastical superiors does have an occasional doubt or two when he finds himself cross-ways with the man appointed to serve as his spiritual shepherd.

And Farrell had done some good.  The Fraternity parish, increase in vocations, end of the horrific run of scandals, getting the diocese’s funding situation in order, approving some orthodox lay people here and there for fairly influential assignments.  He could have been worse.  As I believe I fairly conclusively demonstrated late last week, Farrell started off his tenure probably a shade or two right of center but after March 2013 veered quite perceptibly leftwards.  What was his true inclination, if he even has one, other than parroting the opinions of the men he felt the need to please?

Well, if his first interview is any indication, I was not unfair at all in my appraisal of Farrell, and may well have even been more generous with him than I should have.  Amazingly, the Cardinal-Elect Prefect of Francis’ very powerful and influential new dicastery for the family gave his first major English-language interview to the National Heretic Reporter, and immediately launched forth on a very radical, and very combative, assessment of Amoris Laetitia, it’s doctrinal standing, and its role in the remaking of the Church.

I quote extensively from LifeSiteNews below, as there is quite a bit to unpack.  My emphasis and comments:

In a lengthy new interview, Bishop and soon-to-be cardinal Kevin Farrell said whether those in unions the Church labels adulterous may receive Communion is a “process of discernment and of conscience.” He says Amoris Laetitia “is the teaching of the Church,” comes from the Holy Spirit, and will be the “guiding document” of the new Vatican dicastery Pope Francis appointed him to head.

In August, Pope Francis named Farrell, the former bishop of Dallas, to lead the newly-formed Dicastery for the Laity, the Family and Life. The Pontifical Council for the Laity and to the Pontifical Council for the Family will be folded into this new dicastery. On Sunday, Pope Francis announced that Farrell had been named a cardinal along with two other U.S. bishops: Chicago Archbishop Blase Cupich and Indianapolis Archbishop Joseph Tobin (not to be confused with Rhode Island’s strongly pro-life Bishop Thomas Tobin).

The appointment of these three bishops as cardinals is a “seismic shift” in the American Catholic Church, according to Vatican expert John Allen Jr.,  because Farrell, Cupich, and Tobin belong “to the centrist, non-cultural warrior wing of the country’s hierarchy.” [We can see how far left Allen is, by his incredible definition of “centrist.”  By his standards, Chairman Mao was just a shade left of center]

Speaking to the National Catholic Reporter, long condemned for its open opposition to Church teaching, Farrell said, “I think that the document Amoris Laetitia is faithful to the doctrine and to the teaching of the church. It is carrying on the doctrine of Familiaris Consortio of John Paul II. I believe that passionately. Basically this is the Holy Spirit speaking to us.” [Regarding “carrying on the doctrine of Familiaris Consortio, such a comment is beneath contempt.  It is positively Orwellian in its inversion of the truth.  And apparently, Farrell assesses something as being from the Holy Ghost or not according to how well it aligns with his own ideological views]

………“I firmly believe [Amoris Laetitia] is the teaching of the church,” said Farrell. “This is a pastoral document telling us how we should proceed. I believe we should take it as it is.”

Farrell said he wasn’t necessarily saying the divorced and remarried should receive Communion.

“That’s a process of discernment and of conscience,” and a “journey,” he said. “The priest, the pastor needs to accompany people in difficult situations.” [This is EXACTLY the language the revolutionaries in the Church a generation ago used to obtain a practical apostasy on the subject of contraception and, to a lesser degree, abortion.  Charles Curran and his ilk used intentionally deceptive phrases, claiming contraceptive use could/would only be rightly used by solidly Catholic married couples after a process of discernment, guided by a priest, and only for very serious reasons.  Yeah, that lasted about 5 minutes.  Then it was all contraception, all the time, and, in fact, if you don’t contracept, you’re a bad Catholic, because look at how you are assaulting poor defenseless mother nature]

Farrell told the National Catholic Reporter the divorced and remarried should be included “in all the ministries of the church.”

In honesty, I am not surprised by this in the slightest.  This is precisely the kind of opinion I would expect both of a man so rapidly promoted by Francis, and given so important a new position.  I’m also completely unsurprised at what heterodoxy Farrell is all too happy to support, given the right reward.

What this does make clear is that this is both the required position Francis is demanding of ambitious men in the Church, and the vehicle by which a new stage of the social revolution is to be conducted.  I deliberately mentioned contraception above, because this reception of the Blessed Sacrament by manifest adulterers is an even more egregious affront to the Sovereign Lord.  These guys have no new tools, no new methods, just the same old lies they’ve trotted out for the last 50 years.  What they do have, however, is power, and the will to use it in unjust, even cruel manner.  Just as the FFIs and FSIs about that.

Enjoy your newchurch.  For me, I think the SSPX would be insane to accept the carrot of “regularization” at this time.  I also find it absolutely ludicrous that the SSPX can be held out to be irregular, while creatures like Farrell get to walk around pretending  to be the image of Catholic orthodoxy.  That is too great an affront to logic and decency for me to bear.

Dallas Catholic Judge refuses to perform pseudo-sodo-marriage, democrats lose minds February 8, 2016

You will not be permitted to deviate from the sexular pagan agenda.  Certainly not as an even minor public figure today, but eventually, at all, even if you go live in a cave (as my great great grandparents did for 20 years, though for very different reasons).  Dallas Justice of the Peace Bill Metzger, who graduated from North Mesquite back when they had a pretty good football team, has refused to perform what he terms “non-traditional” marriages, citing his – surprise! – Catholic faith and opinions promulgated by the Texas Attorney General.  Liberals are screaming and crying that he must be tarred and feathered and placed in the stockade until he submits:

Dallas Democrats are demanding the resignation of a Dallas County justice of the peace who says he won’t perform same-sex marriages despite the U.S. Supreme Court ruling allowing gay couples to wed.

In his public Facebook page, Judge Bill Metzger wrote that his Catholic faith prevents him from performing marriages other than “traditional” ones. The Republican judge also cited a passage from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s nonbinding legal opinion on the Supreme Court decision.

In Paxton’s view, the government can’t force justices of the peace to conduct same-sex marriages over their religious objections.

The Dallas County Democratic Party issued a scathing statement accusing Metzger of failing to recognize the separation of church and state.

“By refusing to officiate same-sex marriages, Judge Bill Metzger is not only violating federal law, as interpreted by the United States Supreme Court, but he is also violating his Oath of Office,” party Chairwoman Carol Donovan said in the written statement. “Therefore, he must resign.” [Wait….when did pseudo-sodo-marriage become “federal law.”  Marriage isn’t a federal matter.  There was a Supreme Court ruling -a disastrous one, a false one, promulgated by false Catholics – but that doesn’t mean there is extant federal law demanding all justices at a local level perform this simulacrum of marriage.  What happens is that local and state governments react to the Supreme Court decision, because they believe that if they refuse to perform pseudo-sodo-marriage they will be taken to court, and they will lose, based on the Supreme Court decision. But that’s very different from citing “federal law,” isn’t it?]

Metzger didn’t reply to phone calls and an email seeking comment.

“It is clear that any Justice of the Peace in Texas can refuse to perform a non-traditional wedding when that wedding can be performed by others,” he wrote on Facebook. “My sincerely held religious belief keeps me from being forced to conduct anything but a traditional wedding as a Judge per our Attorney General.”

Good for Judge Metzger.  Don’t know what parish he attends, I’ve never met him, but God bless him for serving God over man.

As a corollary to this happy development, I was asked by a reader a few weeks ago to comment on the case of students of John Paul II high school in Plano canvassing for and otherwise supporting the candidacy of another Dallas County Justice of the Peace, John Sholden.  The reader’s concern with Sholden is that he WILL perform pseudo-sodo-marriage, aka “gay marriage,” if called upon to do so, if he hasn’t already. She found it strange that this candidate should receive the support of Catholic students, when his opponent for JP precinct 2-1 has said as a Catholic he will refuse to perform “gay marriage.”  While Sholden is a Republican and describes himself as “conservative,” I think we all know that doesn’t often count for a great deal.  Unfortunately, I forgot his opponent’s name, and could not find it for this post.

Well…..whatever.  Now that this has gotten out, Metzger can expect to either have to stop performing marriages all together or face a firestorm of criticism and immediate legal intervention.  I pray he stays strong.  And that he checks out Mater Dei parish in Irving sometime.
