Necessary Life Skills for Living in a “Diverse” Culture – Lesson 1 October 6, 2016

By “diverse” I especially mean one with a sizable muslim population.  This is the kind of situation Obama, Merkel, Clinton, and others see as being a very small price to pay in order to impose their religiously motivated beliefs in things like multiculturalism and so-called diversity on the rest of us:

That is very solid advice. It’s well past time I started following it.

I also believe strongly in passive defensive measures.  Active defense is the gun or whatever means  you have to actually go out and “touch” the threat away from your person.  Passive means something that provides defense even if the threat reaches your person.  So  many folks spend tons and tons of money on firearms, ammo, training, and much else besides, but overlook the advantages of a very robust passive defense.

I have temporarily settled on a used Air Warrior (mine substantially different from the link, with many more attach points) Level IIIA jacket with additions to add coverage for the shoulders, groin, and thighs as needed though generally I wouldn’t incorporate those absent a very specific threat.  This is all soft armor, and about as good as can be found.  Eventually I hope to move to hard plate Level IV armor.  I friend graciously offered me a plate carrier (which I gladly accepted), but no plates.  Unfortunately soft armor like I have is limited to protecting against most handguns or long range small caliber rifle threats, and is also useless against knives/swords.  But I got a heckuva deal on it at my Catholic neighbor’s Army Navy store.

This is the world the elites are making for us.  Some might think always carrying or having body armor handy is over the top, but I doubt many of the hundreds of people in the situations shown in that “Reality Check” video series would agree.

h/t reader D, who had a similarly pithy description of the video: “helping muslims adapt to Western culture.”  Good one my man.  And we plan on taking you up on your offer for Jan 1.  Sorry I haven’t replied directly yet.

This is a really good video series:

ISIS has buried thousands in mass graves August 30, 2016

Hmmm…….the most fervent, most convicted Christians practice love, mercy, and great concern for their fellow man.  The most fervent, most convicted muslims almost universally practice murder, domination, and cruelty to an unbelievable extreme.

Anyone see the difference?*

It seems ISIS has buried thousands of bodies in mass graves throughout the territory it has conquered, and even brags about this fact in various media:

Between them, the two scenes of horror on Sinjar mountain contain six burial sites and the bodies of more than 100 people, just a small fraction of the mass graves Islamic State extremists have scattered across Iraq and Syria.

In exclusive interviews, photos and research, The Associated Press has documented and mapped 72 of the mass graves, the most comprehensive survey so far, with many more expected to be uncovered as the Islamic State group’s territory shrinks. In Syria, AP has obtained locations for 17 mass graves, including one with the bodies of hundreds of members of a single tribe all but exterminated when IS extremists took over their region. For at least 16 of the Iraqi graves, most in territory too dangerous to excavate, officials do not even guess the number of dead. In others, the estimates are based on memories of traumatized survivors, Islamic State propaganda and what can be gleaned from a cursory look at the earth.

Still, even the known numbers of victims buried are staggering — from 5,200 to more than 15,000. [With thousands, probably tens of thousands, waiting to be found as ISIS is forced to retreat]

Sinjar mountain is dotted with mass graves, some in territory clawed back from IS after the group’s onslaught against the Yazidi minority in August 2014; others in the deadly no man’s land that has yet to be secured.

They aren’t just killing non-muslims.  They even kill those they feel are not sufficiently pure muslims, like Shiites.  The article at the link speaks of whole ravines and sinkholes filled with bodies.  But Christians definitely earn a special ire from ISIS and other allied groups.

We are told that this is not true islam.  But if it is not, where is the mass outrage? Where are the riots in the streets of Cairo or Karachi, like there are every time some Westerner draws a cartoon of Mohammad or says something critical of islam?  That’s the most damning indictment that ISIS is not somehow counter to the beliefs of many muslims.  While the “silent majority” of muslims may perhaps think ISIS goes too far, they certainly aren’t moved to oppose ISIS in any concrete way.  And far, far too many muslims are quite happy to be governed by sharia, which ISIS claims to be implementing in its fullest, purest form.  Heck, a majority of muslims in Britain AND Canada today claim to desire to live under sharia.  Even more chilling, so do a majority of American muslims.

As we’ve seen around the world, it’s a short walk from sharia to ISIS.  Saudi Arabia may not have mass graves, but they do have plentiful genital mutilation, repression of women, and a hideous intolerance of all non-sunni islamic beliefs.  American servicemen cannot even wear a crucifix in public off base.

All the political and social elites who continue to tell us that islam is the “religious of peace” accomplish is the destruction of their own credibility, as if they had any. That applies doubly for those in the Church who repeat this exhausted, discredited mantra.

For Christians, however, the space between the unstoppable force of leftism and the immovable object of islam continues to shrink, and shrink, and shrink.  And yet, it is Christianity alone – Catholic Christianity – that can provide a sufficient bulwark against islam.  Mamby pamby secular left-leaning hedonism will fold up under the pressure of islam like a cheap green tent in a windstorm.

*- Yes, nominal Christians have certainly committed many atrocities in the past, but rarely if ever on the basis of the Christian Faith itself.  Serbs murdering muslims in Bosnia 20 years ago were motivated primarily by nationalism, not religion.  But ISIS, the Muslim Brotherhood, Al Qaeda, etc., all murder based specifically on the practice of their faith, as a representation of their piety and fervor.  AND, more importantly, they can find numerous supports for their behavior in their false holy book (Koran) and their false tradition (haddith).  In fact, since islam has always understood that which comes later in the Koran to supersede that which came earlier, the fact that most of the really bloody-minded verses, or “suras” of the Koran come later in the book means they have greater import, and supersede the more beneficent verses from the early parts.

Non Sequitur: A little Dallas History August 30, 2016

This post is more for the locals.  In the summer of 1991, my parents and I moved from central Plano, near US75, to what was then far west/northwest Plano.  This was well before Dallas North Tollway had been expanded north of Keller Springs Rd.  It was just a two lane blacktop.

There was our brand-new subdivision, and nothing else for miles.  You could see the brand-new EDS headquarters about 3 miles north, but that was it.  It was prairie and cows.  There was a large ranch just to the east (still there, soon to become a large nature preserve).  A lot of wildflowers. Our house was the fifth to be built in this new subdivision and the 2nd to be occupied. Literally across the street would be some black angus grazing. For a couple of years, it felt like country living.

It’s been almost completely built up around there for years, now.  Which just goes to show how fast the Dallas area continues to grow.

For a little more historical evidence of that, some photos from DFWFreeways.com, showing the old and the new.

Back in the mid-50s, Dallas pretty much stopped at Northwest Highway.  Even much of the land along Northwest Highway was quite country.  Lovers Lane was still used as its name suggests, at least the eastern part was.  The photo below shows the newly completed Central Expressway looking north from Walnut Hill towards Northwest Highway.  There was a Ford Tractor dealership just out of frame to the lower left.  As you can tell, this area was still completely undeveloped.  Within 10 years, however, it would be almost completely built up, making room for hundreds of thousands of new residents:

US75/Central Expressway looking north at the Northwest Highway interchange.  Nice traffic level!

Northwest Highway and US75/Central Expressway as it appeared 11 years ago, in 2005 (looking from the opposite direction as the first photo above, but covering the same stretch of road). 50 years makes quite a difference.  That is the world’s first mall, Northpark, at right.  It is still one of the most successful malls in the world:

Incomplete Central Expressway in tiny, sleepy Plano in 1955.  The town population was about 2000 but was poised for explosive growth.  By 1970 the population was 17,000, and 1980, 72,000.

03_central_expressway_original-083

Perhaps the most amazing comparo of all, Preston Road at Valley View, which would become LBJ freeway, in 1958.  The more modern scene is shown below:

06_dallas_freeways-206

Man there was just whole bunch of nothin’ out there in 1959!  Looks like Phillipsburg.

By 1970, however, Dallas had expanded to fill in virtually all of the northern territory up to LBJ freeway.  Richardson was almost built out, and Plano was starting the growth that would make it the fastest growing city in the US in the 1970s, 80s, and 90s.  It, too, in turn has become built out.  And the slow process of decay begins.

Irving had enjoyed that explosive growth in the 50s and 60s.  A little closer to home for me today, a then 2 lane SH183 at Britain Rd in Irving in 1954:

Lots of interesting stuff on this site.  It’s one reason you haven’t had much from me today.  It’s worth checking out.

Is Europe Finished? August 29, 2016

Not to raise the ire of European readers – I would probably bristle somewhat at an outsider proclaiming the US finished (though, I must admit, things look decidedly bleak at present) – but as the article below notes, more and more ominous trends affecting Europe’s future continue to surface.  Probably foremost among those are the negative demographics affecting the Continent, where the native population has seemingly decided to gradually die out, to be replaced by those exotic muslim “others” so beloved of the self-anointed elite.

It’s almost as if Europe’s political masters had decided the populace could not be relied upon to support their agenda, and so are voting themselves in a new population:

Deaths that exceed births might sound like science fiction, but they are now Europe’s reality. It just happened. During 2015, 5.1 million babies were born in the EU, while 5.2 million persons died, meaning that the EU for the first time in modern history recorded a negative natural change in its population. The numbers come from Eurostat (the statistical office of the European Union), which since 1961 has been counting Europe’s population. It is official.

There is, however, another surprising number: the European population increased overall from 508.3 million to 510.1 million. Have you guessed why? The immigrant population increased, by about two million in one year, while the native European population was shrinking. It is the substitution of a population. Europe has lost the will to maintain or grow its population. The situation is as demographically as seismic as during the Great Plague of the 14th Century. [I would say it is even more so, because then, Europe was not importing millions of young muslim men of military age (and often, militant disposition) who refuse assimilation and in fact demand the assimilation of Christendom to islam.  It would be fantastic if it were not true]

This shift is what the British demographer David Coleman described in his study, “Immigration and Ethnic Change in Low-Fertility Countries: A Third Demographic Transition.” Europe’s suicidal birth rate, coupled with migrants who multiply faster, will transform European culture. The declining fertility rate of native Europeans coincides, in fact, with the institutionalization of Islam in Europe and the “re-Islamization” of its Muslims.

In 2015, Portugal recorded the second-lowest birth rate in the European Union (8.3 per 1,000 inhabitants) and negative natural growth of -2.2 per 1,000 inhabitants. Which EU country had the lowest birth rate? Italy. Since the “baby boom” of the 1960s, in the country famous for its large families, the birth rate has more halved. In 2015, the number of births fell to 485,000, fewer than in any other year since the modern Italy was formed in 1861. [Revealingly, some of the sharpest demographic declines have come in what have historically been viewed as Catholic countries – Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Ireland.  The different religion imposed 50 years ago is yielding its poison fruits]

Eastern Europe now has “the largest population loss in modern history“, while Germanyovertook Japan by having the world’s lowest birth rate, when averaged over past five years. In Germany and Italy, the decreases were particularly dramatic, down -2.3% and -2.7% respectively…….

…….As Lord Sacks recently said, “falling birth rates could spell the end of the West“…… [Can the West persist without Europe?  An interesting question.  I really don’t know.]

……Liberals and secularists tend to dismiss the importance of demographic and cultural issues. That is why the most important warnings come from some Christian leaders. The first to denounce this dramatic trend was a great Italian missionary, Father Piero Gheddo, who explained that, due to falling birth rates and religious apathy, “Islam would sooner rather than later conquer the majority in Europe”. He was followed by others, such as Lebanese Cardinal Bechara Rai, who leads the Eastern Catholics aligned with the Vatican. Rai warned that “Islam will conquer Europe by faith and birth rate“. A similar warning just came from yet another cardinal, Raymond Leo Burke[To the degree there have been warnings from the Church, they have not been nearly persistent or loud enough. Furthermore, what warnings there have been have been drowned out by the constantly repeated mantras: “Islam is good.” “Religion of Peace.” “Only bigots oppose immigration.”  Etc.]

In one generation from now, Europe will be unrecognizable…….[2 million x 30 years = 60 million, which, coupled with muslims already there and an accelerated death rate of natives, means a Europe about 20% muslim if not more so]

……..Demographic suicide is not only experienced; it appears to be wanted. The xenophile European bourgeoisie, which today controls politics and the media, seem imbued with a snobbish and masochistic racism. They have turned against the values of their own Judeo-Christian culture and combined it with a hallucinatory, romanticized view of the values of other cultures. The sad paradox is that Europeans are now importing young people in large numbers from the Middle East to compensate for their lifestyle choices. [Great commentary. It does appear to be desperately wanted by the political/economic elites, who appear to desire the destruction of the culture that bred/created them, and yet there is still insufficient political reaction to stop their culture-destroying policies]

An agnostic and sterile continent — deprived of its gods and children because it banished them — will have no strength to fight or to assimilate a civilization of the zealous and the young. The failure to counter the coming transformation seems to come down on the side of Islam. Is what we are seeing the last days of summer? [Many in the West have chosen their favored religion.  A religion of life – Catholicism – or a religion of death – secularism. It’s really as simple as that]

Who has the greater will to fight?  Who is willing to suffer more to attain their ends?  Who has the more single-minded purpose and a clear objective?  Who has the resources to succeed? That will tell you which side will win out in virtually every major conflict.  At present, Europe fails in all areas save the last, and that won’t last for long at present rates.

Then what?

Are you ready to be a dhimmi?

If You Could Get Rid of Francis with the Push of a Button, Would You? August 9, 2016

I’m lifting a whole lot from this post at St. Corbinian’s Bear, which, because of time constraints, I rarely get to enjoy anymore.  I’d forgotten how funny he is.

I am excerpting a great deal, because of the evocative nature of the question – would you, if you could, and without harming him in any material way, remove Francis as pope with the push of a button? – and because of how Bear describes Francis.  It is not flattering, but I think it expresses what many frustrated souls feel at this point.

The upshot of Bear’s question is this: might not someone far worse come along?  For me, who tends to be hopeful about the future in some fundamental way in spite of all evidence to the contrary, I absolutely would press the button.  Yes, there is risk of someone far worse, far more capable in their efforts at destruction following after, but there does remain a distinct possibility of someone much better.  That possibility may be slight, but it is not non-existent.  The damage being done by the present occupant is unbelievably severe, so in spite of future risk, any chance of reward is very enticing:

Or perhaps the whole post is a joke meant to ID the “bad Catholics,” I don’t know.  To the ripoff (I know the post I’m quoting is ancient in internet terms – a whole 8 days old! – but too bad, I’m doing it anyway – my emphasis and comments):

The Bear has become an expert on Papal Oral Flatology over the last horrifying three years and eight months. He has noticed, as have many others, that the most noisome eruptions tend to occur when Francis rides in airplanes. It is then that Francis most clearly reveals that he is the West’s traitor-in-chief.

In the latest episode of the Vatican Gong Show, “Terror at 30,000 Feet,” the Pope’s word salad would win praise for sheer daring from Hell’s Kitchen’s Gordon Ramsay, and the envy of America’s dhimmi poster child, Archbishop Blase “Mentally Unstable” Cupich.

The question from a journalist was about 84-year-old french priest Jaques Hamel, who, while saying Mass, had his throat slashed by – oh, never mind, you know with taxonomical certainty by whom.

Pope Francis opened his mouth, and this remarkable statement came out. “Terrorism grows when there is no other option, and to the extent the world economy has at its center the god of money and not the person.”……..[Contrary to reason, as many of the terrorists who have attacked targets in the West, anyway, came not from grinding poverty, but from the professionally educated middle class.]

………the picture of Francis as a not-very-bright, narrow-minded, self-loathing Catholic and panderer with no talent for original thinking merely grew clearer. [Ouch. I’m not sure I agree he’s not very bright.  Not very imaginative, surely, blinded by ideology, certainly, provincial, yes, but not bright?  I think he has substantial native intelligence, it’s just been applied to dumb and self-serving things.  Also, while smart, he’s not the world-beating intellect he thinks he is. Like so many on the Left, he has no idea what he doesn’t know.]

With full knowledge that only the people he really cares about would agree with him, he went on to say that one could not speak of Islamic violence without speaking of Catholic violence. Really?  The Bear must be reading the wrong newspapers. Unless he is speaking of violence to the Faith, and against logic. There are violent people in every religion, you see. It’s like a “mixed fruit salad,” in his words. (Archbishop Cupich would prefer “a mixed nut cup”).
Pope Francis is either a liar or a lunatic with no grasp on reality. In either case, he is not fit to be Pope. But everybody knows that, even his friends. They value his dimness and gullibility. What an insult to Christians and others being killed everywhere with monotonous regularity by adherents of just one religion. The Pope just spit in Fr. Hamel’s dead face, and the face of Christ Himself, Who was present at that Mass……….

………..What if there was a button for Pope Francis? A magical button that would not kill, or hurt him in any way. He just wouldn’t be Pope anymore. He and his non-Western, screwed up Argentinian Marxist-Peronist worldview; his Narcissistic Personality Disorder; Islamophilia; borderline mental retardation and Modernism would just go away.
Then we could at least play Conclave Roulette and hope there wasn’t another Francis in the chamber.
On second thought, we know Francis’ “extreme danger is mitigated by manifold non-compensatable personal deficiencies.” [That’s Bear’s conclusion, not mine] But if we got a smart Francis, one who was able to broaden the appeal of his awful message beyond the majority of usual suspects, then we might be willing to give anything to have the incompetent Jorge Bergoglio back.
Someday Francis will shuffle off this mortal coil and ascend to Marxist-Islamic Heaven, where righteous Reds get to live on a collective beet farm with 72 virgins with hoes.  His will all look like Eva Peron. Then we’ll find out whether the Church threw up an outlier, or if Francis was the first Pope of the new normal.

How about a little of column A, and a little of column B?

That is to say, the choice may not be binary.  It may not be, either we get someone much more radical, and much more capable, than Franics, or we get a new Benedict.  A few thoughts.

Leftists, while often wily and quite bright, naturally, are not nearly as smart as they think they are, overall.  They tend to be lazy – morally, intellectually, etc.  Yes, that’s somewhat self-serving, and there are certainly exceptions, but as one generation on the Left has replaced another, has it been marked by a rapidly spiraling upward intellectual trend, or are they more or less persisting on the vapors of work done generations ago?  I have long tended to believe, it is the latter.  And that is true even more in the Church than in the world, because the Church is an insular authoritarian state where opposition can be easily crushed by a small cadre holding great power.  This has led to inbreeding, decadence, and intellectual softness.

Put another way: what if they pushed and elected Francis because they recognized in him the very best they have?

I think we’ve had two generations of churchmen now who have very little knowledge of Scripture, or Doctrine, or Canon Law, or Church machinery.  They know their own little bailiwick enough to run it – after a fashion –  but not much outside it.  They spout tired liberal pablum because that’s all they know.  There aren’t many Bea’s, Congar’s, Schillebeeckx’, Rahners and young Ratzingers running around, men exceedingly well formed who rejected orthodoxy to various degrees but always kept the enormous benefit of the rigorous environment in which they were formed.

That’s not to say there isn’t a danger of a “new normal.”  The danger is huge and growing every day Francis stays in office, as the cardinalate is stacked more and more with his appointees.  But there is a chance things may not get much worse than they are now.

On the other side, the same applies.  I love Cardinal Burke in many respects but I question whether his formation is the equal of a middling Cardinal of, say, 1940.  There may not be many Benedicts left in the till, either.

So what am I saying?  A Church that steadily falls into a grinding, monotonous mediocrity.

To me, however, the chances of finding a “better than Francis” decrease with each passing day. So, I’m pounding that button hard.

What we need is a miracle.  A Pius V or X or even Gregory XVI.

Not that I’m holding my breath.

It’s looking like 1968 all over again in the US June 3, 2016

In 1968, Americans watched in horror as young people, energized and radicalized at least to some degree by 8 years of the most left-wing presidential administrations in US history, exploded out of college campuses and into the streets, sparking riots and bringing society to what seemed to many to be the tipping point of anarchy.

The presidential election in 1968 featured a democrat machine politician against a highly polarizing figure from the Republican party, a man who had in the past said and done many things that made even conservative’s skin crawl.  But under what appeared to be the threat of a near-total collapse of society, Americans rallied to the the rather unlikable Republican candidate and gave him a fairly narrow victory.  Along the way, there was tremendous violence and bloodshed as leftist protesters attacked both democrat and Republican political rallies.  A very long, hot summer of violence ensued, a summer that helped drive the outcome of the presidential election.  Oh, by the way, there was also an interminable war in a far off Asian land that seemed to accomplish nothing but the filling of body bags.

I think the US stood at a precipice in ’68, and, fortunately, turned back, at least to some degree.  While the cultural advance of leftism continued unabated, and even accelerated, after 68, the political advance of leftism was stymied for 30-40 years.  Until today.

This country increasingly appears to stand at a new and more frightening precipice.  There were very few democrat politicians who supported the radical, violent tactics of the ’68 “protesters” – today, the democrat party and its media allies seems to be actively enlisting them to try to terrify people into changing their vote, or not voting at all.  Riots directed at Trump supporters are reported as “violence breaking out.”  The leftist/media complex (one and the same) seem intent on disenfranchising 100+ million Americans who are just about sick to death of being bullied on everything from how big their soda can be to how much endless shame and guilt they absolutely MUST feel because they were born the “wrong” sex (male) or the “wrong” skin color (white).

We also have an increasing breakdown of respect for the concept of “equal under the law.”  Those same tens of millions of Americans being increasingly, and violently, persecuted by the Left, can see how much of a gigantic double standard has emerged in this country.  If you’re left-wing, you can break the law with impunity, enriching yourself and your buddies as you see fit.  You can also use the government as a weapon to terrorize and shut down political opposition.   Remember all those lessons you learned in school about how terrible it was for the Jim Crow apparatus to use government power to disenfranchise blacks and other minorities?  Good times, good times.

So, on the one hand, we have a sizable cohort of thoroughly radicalized, poorly educated, largely unthinking and wholly emotional young people who have been indoctrinated to believe that democrat = virtuous, who feel themselves on the cusp of seizing real power and driving this country on a path of no return to Balkanized socialism (fueled by massive illegal immigration) – and you have an even larger group, a group that has tended in the past to be too meek, mild and occupied with their families and jobs to be very politically active – saying, hell no, we’ve had enough, we’re not taking one more step in that direction.

Readers know I am very cool to Donald Trump.  But the reaction he is engendering on the Left is causing my antipathy towards him to ebb away.  The enemy of my enemy is my friend, and all that.  In addition, the Left is obviously terrified of the guy, I think because of his ability to reduce PC-shibboleths to a laughingstock effortlessly (and maybe the wall).

Which raises a further variable in which 2016 appears more dangerous than ’68 – the presence of tens of millions of unassimilated, aggrieved (for no good reason) illegal immigrants who have been showing themselves increasingly willing to act violently to prevent any change to the broken immigration status-quo in this country.  Thus, you get scenes like this, where a woman peacefully attending a political rally is violently attacked by young Hispanic males, while idiots stand around filming:

Just a few more scenes from yesterday’s insanity in San Jose, where leftists and Mexicans wave the Mexican flag and destroy the American flag (excessive foul language):

The core of all these protests are trained professional cadres employed by leftist organizations to go around staging riots.  They are not honest actors, they are deliberate agents provocateur on the demonrat payroll for things like “community organizing” and “controlling the message.”  They literally are paid to go around from event to event, city to city, to stir up trouble. If you look at the footage and photographs closely, you will start to see the same faces over and over, like that jackass in the video above with the sunglasses.

Here’s another guy being attacked for doing nothing more but participating in the American political process:

Now I don’t agree with some of the language the guy uses in the video above.  But heck, he’s not nearly as incendiary as some on the right are becoming, as a natural reaction to these kinds of attacks.

So where does all this go?  Do demonrats really expect 80-100 million (almost universally) heavily armed Americans to just sit there and take it as they are attacked, beaten, disenfranchised, stolen from, told to shut up, nannied to death, threatened with politically motivated persecution, etc., etc ad nauseum, and watch their country crumble in the dust?  Do they know how fine the edge upon which this country walks now is?  Or are they too stupid and blinded by ideology to notice or care?  Yeah…….I can answer that for myself.

Plus there is the role of the media in turning Trump into a racist monster, very nearly Hitler (again, you can see the mortal terror with which they fear him), which has been helping fuel so many of these protests, as this guy, who attended a Trump rally from a neutral perspective, makes clear:

Scary, scary times.  I don’t know how this is going to play out, but it’s looking very bad.  I suggest investing in ammo.  It is true Thomas Aquinas lays out very narrow grounds upon which Catholics can morally resist a tyrannical government, but there is much more flexibility when you talk about widespread civil unrest.

But, then again, it’s most likely this will just peter out.  This is entirely, 100%, about getting a democrat elected president.  So I think we can strongly assume this stupidity has an end date.

New book explores an islam-dominated West in 2048 December 2, 2015

A new book from Remnant Press called The Mosque of Notre Dame explores a future in which the West, or at least Europe, has been totally overrun by islam and exists under strict sharia conditions.  This book was actually written in Russian by a traditional Catholic nearly 10 years ago, but it has only recently been published in English.  Some description from the Remnant website:

The Mosque of Notre Dame reads not like fiction, but like something lifted from current news headlines. Set in 2048, it’s all about how Muslims from Arabia and middle Europe have taken over the governments of Western Europe and locked down those countries under Sharia Law.

How did this nightmare become the reality in the motherland of civilization? A lack of faith and lack of fight left the old lands of Christendom defenceless against massive, calculated immigration into a timid West that has grown too selfish to stand up for itself.

Sound familiar?

This is a resistance-movement thriller set in a Christophobic Sharia dystopia. It is at the same time an inspiring tale of physical and spiritual survival. The world turned its back on God, and so He allowed us to carry on without Him. The God-less have created their own chastisement, in other words, the chastisement that is life without God.

We’re very proud to work with author, Elena Chudinova—a Russian, Traditional Catholic from Moscow. Her book has enjoyed great success in the “front-line” nations where Islam and the West are colliding. I guess it’s islam day on the blog.  Sounds like a good book.  Shortly after 9/11, when the deliberate flooding of Europe with muslims by governmental policy was becoming quite apparent, a friend of mine from England lamented that she felt Mohammad would be preached from the pulpit of Oxford in her lifetime.  She’s probably not far from wrong.  And now we have the US government engaged in the same policy under Obama (and Bush), permitting/encouraging a very large influx of muslims into this country while quotas make it almost impossible for even highly trained, highly educated Canadians, Germans, Brits, French, etc., to immigrate here.  The USCCB is clamoring for the placement of more “Syrian refugees,” even though the vast majority are not Syrian and are not refugees from anything.  85-90% of this unprecedented immigration influx -an invasion to many minds – consists of unaccompanied males 18-35.

I’m all for letting in hundreds of thousands of Syrian and Iraqi CHRISTIAN refugees.  Lord knows we owe them something, having destroyed their culture and ancient communities through foolish, half-hearted invasions and idiotic dreams of democracy in populations probably the least disposed worldwide towards that form of government.

As for Europe, I think it’s already too late.  With the immigrants currently ensconced and the relative birth rates, many countries in Europe will be nearly half muslim by mid-century.  And this in countries that have almost totally and unilaterally disarmed over the past 30 years.  They have little army to speak of and their populations are almost totally disarmed (save for the radical muslim community, of course).  The stage is set for a horrific bloodbath.

Church of sodomy: Catholics lead Christians in acceptance of “homosexuality” UPDATED November 9, 2015

Pew Research has a new poll out indicating that Catholics lead all other “denominations” in acceptance of sodomy.  The Revolution against the Faith has just about achieved end-state, Catholics are no longer simply indistinguishable from the culture around them in acceptance and practice of grave moral evil, they are now in the vanguard of most of these diabolical trends:

CS6vv3zWIAEimsU

Also note that the rate of increase was equal to or greater than any other group aside from Orthodox Christian.  Only Evangelicals and Mormons remain majority opposed to this evil.

It is possible some of the approval rates have dropped since this poll was taken.  There were some indicators early in the year that the Supreme Court decision declaring pseudo-sodo-marriage the law of the land resulted in a certain amount of backlash.  Support for sodomite marriage, anyway, seemed to peak earlier this year and then drop.  Whether that trends holds we’ll have to see, but I would not be surprised if it does: support for abortion peaked around Roe v. Wade, then dropped a bit before leveling off for several years.  Then it began a very slow but steady decline to the present level of support, generally a few points below opposition to abortion, nationally.  Of course much depends on the wording of the surveys and the people asked.

Nevertheless, it remains clear that a large majority of Catholics believe “homosexuals” should be “accepted,” which I can assume to mean they probably accept all of the sodomite agenda, or most all of it. I can hardly think of a more damning indictment for the post-conciliar Church of Revolution than the data above.  The revolutionaries succeeded probably beyond their wildest dreams.  It is true that most of the self-described Catholics who replied above probably haven’t darkened the door of a church in years – there is some perverse attachment many former Catholics have in insisting to continue to call themselves Catholic years or even decades after they apostasized and left the Faith – but that very situation itself is one of the best possible condemnations of the Vatican II Church of Perpetual Revolution – it is hemorrhaging members, and very few of those who still practice the faith come anywhere close to believing all of it.  Probably 2-3% at most of self-described Catholics (in the West, at least) are anything but Catholic-in-name-only.  Heresy is rampant. The Church is in tatters.

Of course what would one expect after decades of steadfast refusal by the vast majority of priests and bishops to preach the Faith!

Thanks John XXIII!  Thanks Paul VI!  Thanks spineless bullied bishops of Vatican II, who couldn’t tell a dangerously heterodox intervention/proposition from an orthodox one and were bullied by your intellectual elite periti!  Thanks also for worrying more about your media reputation than the good of the Church and, even more, souls.  You sewed weakness and indifference, and the faithful have reaped death and destruction ever since.

I know I should stop being scandalized at these kinds of survey results, but the consequences of this mass heresy-apostasy are so devastating for souls that I cannot help it.  People will fall into eternal damnation over these sins and that is an infinite tragedy in every case.

So here’s some concrete evidence of the source of the crisis in the Church.  A Catholic parish in Buffalo, NY, found fit to place this little bit of blasphemy on their roadside sign:

Secular conservatives figuring it out: progressivism is a religious cult November 5, 2015

Even more, it’s a suicidal death cult, but not just for individuals – for entire nations and civilizations.  Want to know how civilizations collapse? Watch TV.

Nevertheless, I’ve been interested to see more and more secular conservative commentators figure out the fact that leftism is another form of religion.  And even more, some are even noting that the religious nature of leftism is inevitable.  It is so because God created us as deeply religious, spiritual beings. We have a built-in need for the understanding and practice of things far beyond us.  That need is of course to be filled by God, but since leftism rejects God (and is in fact a system deliberately contrived to oppose God and, most especially, His Church), those needs tend to get filled by all kinds of things.  Primarily, leftism itself becomes the substitute religion, but since leftism is not spiritually fulfilling and is bound by earthly parameters (containing no real elements of transcendence, aside from its false promise of an earthly “paradise”), it leaves a void that those drawn towards progressive beliefs fill with all kinds of nonsense: belief in space aliens, astrology, tarot, false eastern religions, new ageism, power crystals, and even the deliberately diabolical.

One reason the left is so hard to combat from a secular conservative standpoint, is that it is not just a political movement but a religious one, as well. Thus leftists are filled with a consuming fervor that often goes far beyond what mere political conviction can muster. That is one of many reasons why leftism must be opposed from a religious – a Christian, a Catholic – basis.  Cultural power leads to political power, and conservatives have erred greatly for the past century looking for political solutions to retard or stop the advancing leftist revolution, when in reality what is needed is a powerful cultural basis to create the political will necessary to roll leftism back.  That basis can only be filled by religious belief, and in particular, Catholic culture.

A few interesting comments from PJ media:

There is a sort of orthodoxy required among liberals. Do you believe in climate change? What about the gender pay gap? Those who do not toe the line often find themselves exiled — not just from the fold, but from the conversation.

To some extent, these views are merely what we mean when we say the word “liberal” — they describe a political program roughly supported by one major party. But at some point, these views have become prescriptive; they have morphed into a moral structure to provide meaning and guidance in place of religion. When political beliefs start to explain why bad things happen to good people, they may be crystallizing into something closer to faith. [I disagree. Leftism has always, from its inception in post-protestant revolution rationalism (and a direct result of that revolution), been a profoundly religious construct. It inspires the kind of faith and zeal the only religious conviction engenders.  It is not “starting to crystallize as a religious movement, it always has been, but as leftism gains more and more ascendance, and Christianity retreats, the religious overtones become more and more apparent.]

…….These are not some cheap shots aimed at liberalism merely to discredit the ideas, but current trends in the movement which illustrate how a political ideology can answer human needs usually satisfied by religion. The ability to explain why bad things happen to good people, the need to confess your sins and find absolution, and the desire to attack opposing views as heretical — these traditionally religious activities are increasingly being taken up by a political movement. [But it has been doing this for centuries.  Jacobins first cast Girondists out of their clubs, then went to war against them politically, then cut their heads off as heretics against their new demonic faith.  For two centuries leftism has held sacred dogmas, railed against “heretics,” provided definitions of sin and grants of absolution, and, most of all, promised a new, earthly “paradise” of materialism in competition to the real, eternal paradise of Heaven.  All this did not happen by happenstance.]

……The accusations are endless. If you don’t believe in liberal positions about climate change, the minimum wage or social justice programs, you must have been bought off — there simply is no other possible explanation. How could you hate the poor so much? How could you doubt established facts? How could you hate yourself?…….

…….This move to silence the debate does not end with Twitter. Last month, 20 climate scientists petitioned President Obama to use the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) – a law intended to fight organized crime — against people who “denied” climate change.

When Brookings scholar Robert Litan dared to analyze the downsides of a new federal regulation backed by Senator Elizabeth Warren, Warren essentially forced him to resign, despite the scholar’s more than 40 years at the organization.

When retired neurosurgeon and presidential candidate Ben Carson said that the Nazis confiscated the firearms of Jews prior to the Holocaust, prominent liberals didn’t rebut his arguments. They didn’t even call him a liar. Instead, they wrote “f**k off” and accused him of “blaming the victims.” Carson was right, by the way, even though his comments were politically unwise and a bit oversimplified.

This tendency to shut down debate — through name-calling, accusing critics of ulterior motives or diagnosing their social pathologies — is unworthy even of a religion, but most closely resembles the religious practice of declaring certain views “anathema.”……..[The comparison here is strained, especially with reference to the Church, but the general point is quite right – if you reject leftist shibboleths, you are not just incorrect, you are evil.  With leftism gaining increasingly cultural and political ascendance, how long will they continue to tolerate “heretical” beliefs?  I fear, not long.  If you think the Constitution will protect you, you’ve got another think coming.]

There’s a lot more at the link, if you need more examples of illiberal, frankly coercive, and trending strongly towards totalitarian left-wing actions.

For an example of how supposedly areligious, scientifically-minded, and oh-so-rational left-leaning (or outright leftist) folks very frequently buy into all kinds of nutty beliefs, well…….here’s one:

Like many Europeans, Marianne Haaland Bogdanoff, a travel agency manager in this southern Norwegian town, does not go to church, except maybe at Christmas, and is doubtful about the existence of God.

But when “weird things” — inexplicable computer breakdowns, strange smells and noises and complaints from staff members of constant headaches — started happening at the ground-floor travel office, she slowly began to put aside her deep skepticism about life beyond the here and now. After computer experts, electricians and a plumber all failed to find the cause of her office’s troubles, she finally got help from a clairvoyantwho claimed powers to communicate with the dead. The headaches and other problems all vanished.

People who think themselves too rational for religious belief end up believing in “astral forces”, ghosts and other phenomena. Sometimes these superstitions take the deadly form of political ideologies that fanatical believers take up with religious fervor—communist atheists murdered tens of millions of people in the 20th century in the irrational grip of an ugly ideology. They scoffed at the credulity of religious believers even as they worshipped the infallible insights of Stalin. Similarly, the Nazis presented their faith as an alternative to the “outgrown superstitions” of historic Christianity.

It’s something very much worth remembering: a world without faith in God wouldn’t be a more rational or more humane place.

Wasn’t it Chesterton who said of those who refuse to believe in God, that it’s not that they don’t believe in Him, it’s that they’ll believe anything?  Surveys show that those with a progressive outlook are much, much more likely to believe in things like ESP, space aliens, Bigfoot, haunted houses, and other such “paranormal” phenomenon.  The most tragic thing, however, is that “Catholics” believe in this garbage at almost the same rates as progressives!  Which aligns with most other surveys and cultural behavior, in which Catholics generally vary from middle of the road, at best, to having strongly left-leaning beliefs.  Thus my belief that fewer than 5% of those who answer surveys as “Catholic” actually are.

Thanks Vatican II and all your Church leaders infected with its destructive spirit!

We gots a long road to hoe.  Don’t worry about them, so much, get yourself, and your family, to Heaven.

China’s horrific one child policy may be ending, but it’s probably far too late October 30, 2015

Two news pieces came out yesterday regarding the Chinese government’s apparent plan to end their draconian one child policy.  Directed largely at urban dwellers (rural folks could frequently get “dispensations” for two and sometimes three children), this policy saw much horrific behavior on the part of the Chinese government and immense suffering inflicted on people.  It also led to a severe imbalance in China’s population – since boys are so preferred in Chinese society, girls were routinely aborted or killed at birth so the family could have a male heir.  I’m a male chauvinist pig, but that’s a severely messed up mentality.

The core problem with this policy – aside from the brutality of it all, which has resulted in the deaths of likely hundreds of millions over the past 40 years – is that when you limit a population to one child per couple, you cause a demographic implosion.  No matter how far back you care to go, so long as couples are limited to one child, any number of grand parents, great-grand parents, great-great grand parents, etc., will have only ONE grand child, great-grand child, great great, etc., ad infinitum. It is a great way to completely wipe out a population over the course of 10 or 15 generations.

The other thing this kind of evil policy does is to instill in souls a truly corrosive set of beliefs.  Once you get people accustomed to having one or no children, even when you want them to start having more, they’ve already adopted the “no-reproduce” mentality and even huge incentives to reproduce wind up having no effect.  We see that in Europe, Russia, Japan, and other nations today.  So now that the Chinese government is set on “generously” allowing two kids per urban family, this article prognosticates that its probable very few will take up the offer:

China’s population of working-age adults started shrinking in 2012, and by 2050 the country will be home to fewer than 1.6 workers for every retiree, according to a 2013 report from the Paulson Institute. That’s comparable to aging, slow-growth countries like Japan and Singapore. In response, the regime is hoping to spark a baby boom.

Unfortunately, by this point, even a two-child policy may be too little, too late. [And it leaves this satanically repressive “family planning” apparatus in place] Most Chinese outside the big cities can already have two, and sometimes more, children. Meanwhile, a recent, limited opening in several cities failed to turn up many urban couples interested in having a second child.

The reasons aren’t unique to China: As societies become wealthier and concentrate in cities, couples choose to have fewer kids. A peer-reviewed study from 2012 found that between 2000 and 2005, urbanization accounted for a net decline in fertility in all but three of China’s provinces. The government could try enforcing maternity-leave policies better and providing more generous childcare subsidies. But such policies haven’t really succeeded in Singapore or Japan, and there’s little reason to think that they’d work any better in China.

The author then goes on to recommend that China try to “import” labor – basically, to steal the most vital resource of other countries, it’s people, just as we see many US business leaders doing with Hispanic labor today.  A relatively high wage country like China (wages have exploded there in the past several years) can certainly attract workers from lower wage countries like Burma, Cambodia, Laos, etc., but what impact does that labor drain tend to have on those abandoned countries?  Evidence from the Western hemisphere suggests it leaves those former countries mired in poverty, and severely inhibits their own ability to develop organic economic growth.  But such is the zero sum game of the corporate capitalist.

For some examples of the kinds of horrors the one child policy has engendered, here is another article sent along by reader MFG:

His wife was seven months pregnant with their second child when the group of people barged into his home and took her away. He followed them to the local hospital, where — against medical advice and despite his pleadings — they jammed a needle into her belly.

“They grabbed my wife’s body like they were grabbing a pig, four or five people holding her hands and legs and head, and injected a shot into her belly,” the man said, asking not to be named for fear of retribution. “Neither my wife nor I signed any consent form.”

Ten hours later, she gave birth to a boy, wriggling and faintly crying. But the doctors in southern Hunan province would not even let her hold the dying infant, the husband said, putting the baby in a plastic bag and instructing him to pay a cleaner a small sum to bury it on a nearby hill.

The incident happened not during the horrors of some Mao Zedong-inspired mania in the 1950s or 1960s, but in 2011, in the Internet age and when China was walking proudly on the global stage as a major power…….

……In 2012 alone, official statistics show 6.7 million women in China were forced to have abortions under the one-child policy. Rates in previous decades often topped 10 million a year. As a result, experts say, suicide rates among women in China are significantly higher than among men in contrast to global norms.

This is EXACTLY what results from the apotheosis of leftist sexular paganism, communism.  Leftism is a materialist, utilitarian ideology.  Taken to its logical conclusion – communism – creates governments that treat humans like cattle and has caused mass slaughter in every single country that has been forced to endure them.

And as we see around the world today, in spite of the mountains of evidence indicating the unavoidably evil nature of leftist systems of government, it seems more and more that the self-anointed elites of our society are determined to push a reluctant world in that direction, even creating a one world superstate where there will be no alternative to the nightmare of amoral materialist leftism.  Things like China’s one child policy aren’t accidental by-products of leftism/communism – it’s what they do.  They are the essence of leftism.  We see so many leftists in our own country calling for unlimited abortion on demand and without apology, they advocate for the slaughter of the elderly and sick because they are no longer productive, they even argue in favor of “post-birth abortion” – child murder – as an inalienable parental right.  Leftism is uniquely sick because it is a uniquely diabolical and deliberately anti-Christian mindset.  It’s evil consequences are an inseparable part of its evil beliefs.

But you knew that already.  Well, maybe someone will stumble on this blog who doesn’t.
