I’m out of time, but here’s two good videos. If the language is bothering folks, please let me know and I’ll stop posting this stuff, but this is too good. A really radical, out n’ proud lesbian feminist in Canada not only wore the hijab in a Canadian mosque but also agreed to enter through a back door – as fitting for a woman – and then sat in a back corner, because everyone knows God finds the sight of women horribly offensive, so offensive that their mere presence somehow magically invalidates any prayers offered:
Moronic PM Justin Trudeau was asked about this, and all he could do was blather meaningless platitudes that said absolutely nothing other than the tired leftist mantra, “diversity is our greatest source of strength” (which has, BTW, never even been remotely proven, or even grounds established upon which the claim could be based):
His response reminded me of this old Monty Python sketch, especially at 7:30 (WordPress refuses to let me start a video at a particular time):

In Horrible Decision, Anthony Kennedy Allows Trial Verdicts to be Nullified if Jurors Are Found Insufficiently Politically Correct March 15, 2017Posted by Tantumblogo in asshatery, disaster, error, foolishness, General Catholic, horror, huh?, Immigration, Revolution, scandals, secularism, self-serving, sickness, Society, unbelievable BS.
This story did not get much coverage, but has the potential to be huge. It will almost invariably lead to endless appeals and an end to the anonymous jury system, with jurors being investigated after the fact for any beliefs that might exonerate those found guilty of crimes. It also fits in perfectly with the general left-wing assault on civil liberties ranging from practice of Christianity to freedom of speech to freedom of association. Now jurors can be publicly excoriated if they are found to have uttered something politically incorrect at any point prior to or during a trial involving some “minority.”
Naturally, “Catholic” Anthony Kennedy sided with the Supreme Court’s left-wing minority to decide the issue. He is the most powerful man in America by a long shot, and was never elected to so much as dog catcher:
A recent Supreme Court ruling turns criminal justice on its head, putting the jury on trial for political incorrectness and letting the criminals run free. Pena-Rodriguez v. Colorado is utter lunacy:
After a Colorado jury convicted a Mexican man of sexual harassment, two jurors signed affidavits that a retired police officer on the jury had expressed racial animus during deliberations. The juror was reported to have stated that “nine times out of 10 Mexican men were guilty of being aggressive toward women and young girls,” among other slurs. The defendant’s counsel sought to overturn the conviction based on racial animus but was denied by the trial judge.[Who declares that statement to be a slur? It might be wrong, it might be a slur, but it could also be a mere statement of fact. Who gets to decide what constitutes a slur? Yet another power acceded to an unelected, unaccountable jurist?]
Civilization has been protected from verdicts being retroactively nullified due to alleged flaws of the jurors for centuries, thanks to the no-impeachment rule rooted in English common law.
As Justice Anthony Kennedy explained in the 5-3 majority opinion this week in Pena-Rodriguez v. Colorado, the rule “promotes full and vigorous discussion by jurors by providing considerable assurance that after being discharged they will not be summoned to recount their deliberations” or otherwise harassed. It also “gives stability and finality to verdicts.”
Yet Justice Kennedy joined the Court’s four liberals in Pena-Rodriguez to overturn that standard for accusations of racial bias. [Remember, Anthony Kennedy was the man possessed of the god-like power to peer into the souls of tens of millions of Americans opposed to so-called same-sex marriage, and find nothing but bigotry and blind animus. This is the creature that decides the fate of hundreds of millions of people.]
What exactly constitutes “racial bias” that should result in the verdict being overturned? The Supremes don’t say, guaranteeing endless appeals on grounds of alleged juror political incorrectness.
Presumably it will still be possible to incarcerate white male heterosexual Christian criminals. All other guilty verdicts are likely to be held up indefinitely while the jurors are retroactively investigated for any indication of ideological impropriety.
The ruling is a step toward corrupting juries with political standards based on the progressive obsessions with race, gender and class.
Beyond that, it is a step toward reducing our legal system to a dysfunctional farce.
Indeed. If there is an extreme imbalance in the failing US constitutional system of checks and balances, it is in the judiciary. Every single leftist advance in the culture, going back decades, has come from the judiciary, not the people themselves. Even constitutional amendments have been found “unconstitutional.” Basically anything a left-leaning judge does not like can be found to be unconstitutional, and rationalized on the most ephemeral of precepts: emanations from the penumbras, and all that. Amazing.
As far as turning the legal system into a dysfunctional farce, to those who want to see the United States, as it has been, destroyed, this is a feature, not a bug. Anything that undermines people’s support for the USA That Was is good to them, as they think it will bring forth their much longed for revolution.
Of course, the vast majority of the people longing for revolution today will be among the first lined up and shot should it occur. Along with millions of other relative innocents.
So now you have another reason to strive to get out of jury duty.
……..policy over which they have never expressed much concern. Cynical, much? The Mexican government constantly and quite roughly deports any and all illegal immigrants they catch coming over their southern border – that is, if those immigrants don’t have sufficient inducements with which to bribe Mexican officials, not all of which involve money, if you know what I mean. The Mexican Church has had very little to say about that.
But in a sense, this very much makes sense, as bishops for a given country should have as their primary concern the well-being of their own citizens. Of course, Mexicans in the US have in a very real way repudiated their citizenship and as often as not rejected the Church (either there or here, huge numbers are walking away from the Faith). I can understand some degree of loyalty, but for the most part, this just seems like ugly politicking of a most base kind.
The Catholic Church in Mexico has accused the government of adopting an attitude of fear and “submission” over US President Donald Trump’s immigration measures, which it labeled “terrorism.”
Mexican authorities “only make declarations and promises, their reactions are lukewarm and they also show fear and even worse, submission,” read an editorial in the Church’s From the Faith weekly.
The editorial, entitled “Migrant Terrorism,” criticized Trump’s immigration measures, which aim to expel millions of undocumented migrants from the United States.
The Trump administration issued tough new orders Tuesday for a sweeping crackdown on illegal immigrants……..[Umm, the only ones really under threat of deportation are those who have criminal records]
“What Mr Trump does is not only apply inhuman legalism, but a real act of terror,” the editorial said. [But the Mexican government does any different? And why aren’t you castigating your government for its corruption and horrific policy which has driven so many Mexicans to flee in the first place. Most importantly – how much income does the Church in Mexico derive from remittances from Mexican expatriates living in the US? I bet it is not insubstantial]
The new rules make it easier for US Border Patrol and immigration officers to quickly deport any illegal immigrants they find, with only a few exceptions, principally children.
But on Thursday, US Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson met with Mexican ministers promising no “mass deportations” or use of military force to expel immigrants.
Trump has infuriated Mexico by insisting the country pay for a border wall to keep undocumented immigrants out. Mexico’s foreign minister has warned that his country will impose tariffs on US products if the United States taxes Mexican imports to finance a the wall. [Good luck keeping your collapsing oil industry alive if you do that]
Not Exactly What You Want to See Outside Your House at Night February 28, 2017Posted by Tantumblogo in Admin, disaster, family, foolishness, Immigration, sickness, Society.
So, this happened:
That was the scene outside my house about 9:30 last night. First rapidly approaching police sirens, then a loud crunch, then looking outside the window to find first one policeman with weapon drawn and then within seconds 2, 3, 5, 7, 8 police SUVs screeching to a halt. Well. I wonder what that’s all about.
Did I run and grab a handgun? Yes, yes I did. Forgot the body armor, though, but the police had things under control within seconds, so there’s that. I mean, for a brief instant, I had thoughts of someone(s) bailing out of the wrecked car and running through my backyard, and finding no way out, then what? But I’ve always had a bit overactive imagination.
Turns out it was a group of kids who have had many run-ins with the law. They were underage driving around with open alcohol containers and decided they didn’t want another serious misdemeanor on their record, so they tried to run. They didn’t get very far. The cops did not sound like these kids had committed violent crimes, they’re just very wild and unsupervised. It was mom’s car they wrecked.
Really, though, what transpired was miraculous. They hit a tree in our front yard, missing our mailbox by inches, but if they had gone 4 or 5 ft on either side they could have gone down one empty driveway straight into a concrete lined former creek now drainage ditch, or they could have smashed into my truck, chicken pen, and shed. A bit further to either side, they could have driven into either our house or my neighbor’s. So, Deo Gratias that about the most benign outcome possible occurred. The kids were uninjured. Even though they hit the tree at about 20 mph, airbags did not deploy, for some reason. Maybe someone pulled the fuse. Even the tree is virtually undamaged, at least it appears to be, for now. Trees are much, much stronger than automobiles, even large SUVs:
Shorter post: just another night in south Irving. I’d say the Tahoe is totaled.
Milo What? Islamic Professor Defends Rape and Slavery at Georgetown February 24, 2017Posted by Tantumblogo in Basics, disaster, Ecumenism, error, foolishness, General Catholic, horror, Immigration, It's all about the $$$, persecution, rank stupidity, scandals, sickness, Society, unadulterated evil.
As you can guess, the reaction to the proclamation of these particular abhorrent beliefs has been just a little bit different from what was directed at Milo, because a prof is a member of the great left-wing machine and leftists always take care of their own. h/t to reader skeinster who sent this along (I know reports of this have been around for a while but they were fairly scattered so it’s likely many have not seen this):
Two weeks ago today, a professor from Georgetown University publicly rose to the defense of slavery and rape, and not a single major media outlet—with the exception of a blogger on the Washington Post website and a brief posting on foxnews.com—has said a word about it. The absence of outrage is not hard to figure out: Jonathan Brown’s defense was limited to Islam. [yet another sign that islam is the de facto state religion of this country]
Brown, a convert to Islam, holds an endowed chair in Islamic studies at Georgetown. The Jesuit-run institution has a wealthy benefactor in Saudi Arabia, a nation which bans Christianity. How sweet.
What did Georgetown get from this arrangement? Money, and a lot of it. Twelve years ago, Saudi Arabia wrote a check to the Jesuit-run institution for $20 million; it went to support the school’s Center for Muslim Christian Understanding, run by Brown. And what did Saudi Arabia get from this peculiar “understanding”? Legitimacy. [And much more than that. They got the silence of a Catholic university on the evils of islam. They got influence at a body that in turns greatly influence mainstream Catholic thought. They got influence on American and Catholic thought leaders for years to come. They got more and more acceptance of the idea that islam is deserving of special rights and privileges]
The fruit from this decayed tree is now apparent. Georgetown now employs a tenured professor who defends slavery and rape, provided the slavemasters and rapists are Muslims. This is apparently Georgetown’s idea of diversity. It also shows how phony the school is. Why all the handwringing about Georgetown’s ownership of American slaves in the 19th century when it employs defenders of slavery today?
Brown’s position was not made in the heat of debate. If anything, his comments were well prepared: they were delivered at the Islamic Institute for Islamic Thought. After being criticized by some, he tried to walk it back, offering a lame Tweet that meant nothing.
“As a category, as a conceptual category that exists throughout states and trans-historically,” Brown said clumsily, “there’s no such thing as slavery.” It gets better. “I don’t think you can talk about slavery in Islam until you realize that there is no such thing as slavery.” [Naturally. If you can’t defend your religion’s behavior on a subject, pretend the subject doesn’t exist. Also, taqqiyah.]
It is not certain what Brown would say to slaves in Mauritania and Somalia today—they are owned by their Muslim masters. Would he tell them to stop promoting fake news?……..
Brown is also incompetent. If slavery doesn’t exist in Muslim-run nations, why the need to justify it? “Slavery cannot just be treated as a moral evil in and of itself,” he opined. He really means it. “I don’t think it’s morally evil to own somebody because we own lots of people all around us.” [This guy is really screwed up. Go figure for a western convert to islam]
(Who he owns he did not say, but perhaps the Southern Poverty Law Center will look into it. Maybe I’ll convert to Islam and see if I can buy him. I’ll use my credit card—Mastercard for the Master.)
When someone in the audience challenged Brown, he became indignant, as well as inconsistent. “The fact that there was slavery is wrong [thus did he contradict his remark that there was no such thing in Islam]. Okay. If you’re a Muslim, the prophet of God…had slaves. He had slaves. There’s no denying that. Are you more morally mature than the prophet of God? No, you are not.” [HE’S DEMANDING STUDENTS ACCEPT THE DICTATES OF ISLAM, A FALSE SATANIC RELIGION, ON A CATHOLIC CAMPUS!!! This is an appeal to authority based on his view that Mohammad – if he existed – is supposedly “god’s” prophet. Does Brown know that, unlike Christ, Mohammad worked no miracles, did no great good deeds witnessed by tens of thousands, in short gave absolutely zero evidence of any supernatural connection or powers short of a book he wrote, alone, under supposed guidance from Gabriel? Does Brown admit of the satanic verses where the Koran (at least, a version where these bits are not expunged) admits that satan fooled Mohammad? Did satan ever trick Christ into teaching error?]
One would hope that all of us are more morally mature than Muhammad. After all, he was not only a slavemaster and an advocate of violence, he consummated his marriage with his bride Aisha when she was nine years old. That’s what we call rape.
Speaking of which, Brown went on to say that non-consensual sex—it’s called rape—is okay with him, at least if the offenders are adherents to Islam. He took aim at the Western notion of “consent,” maintaining that “It’s very hard to have this discussion because we think of, let’s say in the modern United States, the sine qua non of morally correct sex is consent.”
Continuing his defense of rape, Brown criticized Americans for making a big deal about individual rights. “We fetishize the idea of autonomy to the extent that we forget, again who’s really free? Are we really autonomous people?” In other words, since none of us is really autonomous, the difference between us and a rape victim is more contrived than real. [And you can tell from this exactly how far into islam this guy has gone, and it’s pretty damned deep. This is exactly why islamic societies are so backwards, hidebound, superstitious, and casually disdainful of human life. They place no value on the self as a unique soul created in the image and likeness of God – or to the extent they do, they have horribly perverted this understanding precisely in order to justify Mohammad’s abhorrent, amoral behavior.]
Brown and Georgetown would be on the front page of every newspaper in the nation if he had justified Christians enslaving and raping Muslims.
Dang straight. Good piece by Deal Hudson.
This is what the Left has in store for you folks. Get rid of Christianity, create a failed totalitarian leftist state, then submit to the almighty allah.
Brown does a fine job of revealing the demonic immorality at the heart of islam, as well as islam’s inability to logically, rationally defend itself. The appeals to authority start within moments. And I would say Christianity’s long struggle to extirpate slavery from Western civilization sufficiently establishes its inherent moral superiority.
Only a muslim extremist would claim differently. Good to know just what $20 million in dirty Saudi oil money will buy.
SPLC As Bad, Cynical, Ideological as You Would Expect February 23, 2017Posted by Tantumblogo in cultural marxism, disaster, error, foolishness, General Catholic, horror, Immigration, It's all about the $$$, Revolution, scandals, secularism, self-serving, sickness, Society, the enemy.
Just some data to confirm what you already knew: the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which probably did some good and helpful work decades ago in helping to undermine and eliminate the legacy of the Jim Crow South, long ago became just another corrupt agent of leftist agitprop. More specifically, they’re simply another attack wing of the demonrat party, trading on the good name and legacy they built up decades ago to engage in nakedly biased, partisan political attacks.
And typical for politically favored institutional attack dogs, their attacks are typically based on outright falsehoods and incredibly manipulated “data.” As a for instance, in the wake of Trump’s election – and frankly mere days after the event – the SPLC claimed that “attacks” against muslims had skyrocketed, as had the number of anti-muslim “hate” groups.
How did this horrible outbreak of persecution occur? By broadcasting doubtful, or even inventing, incidents (many of which have been very publicly debunked) and listing things like billboards and individuals who hold beliefs the very far left SPLC finds wrong as being purveyors of “hate,” even if these beliefs are held by a large majority of Americans. FrontPageMag has catalogued a partial list of some of their recent inventions and false condemnations of largely innocent people, who simply happen to think differently than they do, and it’s an amazing compilation:
“Huge Growth in Anti-Muslim Hate Groups During 2016: SPLC Report,” wails NBC News. “Watchdog: Number of anti-Muslim hate groups tripled since 2015,” FOX News bleats. ABC News vomits up this word salad. “Trump cited in report finding increase in US hate groups for 2nd year in a row.”
The SPLC stands for the Southern Poverty Law Center: an organization with slightly less credibility than Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Clown College, and without the academic degree in greasepaint.
And you won’t believe the shameless way the SPLC faked its latest Islamophobia crisis.
The Southern Poverty Law Center’s latest “hate group” sightings claims that the “number of anti-Muslim hate groups increased almost three-fold in 2016.”
That’s a lot of folds.
And there is both bad news and good news from its “Year in Hate and Extremism.”
First the good news.
Casa D’Ice Signs, the sign outside a bar in K-Mart Plaza in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, is no longer listed as a hate group. The sign outside the bar had been listed as a hate group by the SPLC for years. The owner of Casa D’Ice had been known for putting politically incorrect signs outside his bar. So the SPLC listed the “signs” as a hate group. (Even though there was only one sign.) Not the bar. That would have made too much sense.
Since then Casa D’Ice was sold and the SPLC has celebrated the defeat of another hate group. Even if the hate group was just a plastic sign outside a bar.
But the bad news, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, is that anti-Muslim hate groups shot up from only 34 in 2015 to 101 in 2016.
What could possibly account for that growth? Statistical fakery so fake that a Vegas bookie would weep…….
…….The SPLC decided to count 45 chapters of Act for America as separate groups.
How do you get a sudden rise from 34 to 101 hate groups? It helps to suddenly add 45 chapters of one group. Act for America isn’t a hate group. It’s also just as obviously not 45 groups.
Act for America was only listed as one group in the 2015 list. It shot up to 45 now.
Furthermore Act for America boasts not 45, but 1,000 chapters across the country. Why list just 45 of them? Look at it from the SPLC’s perspective. Next year, it can add 200 chapters and claim that anti-Muslim hate groups once again tripled. And then it can do the same thing again the year after that……..
……..[T]he SPLC makes a point of highlighting the locations of likely terrorist targets. [People who oppose radical islam, for instance, or who uphold traditional morality] And the Southern Poverty Law Center’s map of hate has been used by terrorists before.
“Southern Poverty Law lists anti-gay groups. I found them online,” Corkins later confessed to the FBI.
When Leo Johnson, the building’s African-American manager, attempted to stop Corkins, the SPLC shooter told Johnson that he didn’t like his politics and opened fire. The SPLC gunman had planned to kill everyone in the office, but Johnson’s heroic actions saved their lives. The African-American building manager was forced to undergo painful surgeries because of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s hate list.
Despite its role in the terror attack, the SPLC continues to target the Family Research Council.
None of the so-called “Anti-Muslim hate groups” listed by the SPLC have shot anyone. The SPLC has……
……..But there is one barrier to being listed as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.
No amount of overt anti-Semitism from CAIR’s Nihad Awad would ever get the Islamist hate group listed as a hate group. Even CAIR’s flirtation with Neo-Nazis and Holocaust deniers can’t get it on the hate map. The SPLC collaborated with the Muslim Public Affairs Council despite its anti-Semitism.
Instead the SPLC lists counterterrorism organizations such as the Investigative Project on Terrorism, the Clarion Project and the David Horowitz Freedom Center which point out their terror ties as hate groups.
The Southern Poverty Law Center is greedy, cynical and dishonest.
Shorter post – the SPLC are thoroughgoing leftists who trade on the name and sufferings of those who truly fought discrimination and unjust persecution in order to advance leftism. If a person or group leans left, or is perceived as being part of the leftist coalition, as muslims are (even though muslims would destroy them, and take away so much of the sexual license leftists purport to love), they can literally do no wrong. If a person or group (or sign) is perceived as standing in opposition to leftism, they can do no right, and the SPLC will be quite happy to unjustly tar that individual as some kind of hate-mongerer, if they hold beliefs counter to the religion of sexualized secular paganism. It’s a travesty what they are allowed to do, but it’s part and parcel of the Left here and throughout the West.
Indeed, the SPLC has long listed traditional Catholic groups like the SSPX as “extremist” and supposedly guilty of one bad “-ism” or another. That’s because traditional Catholics uphold morals and decency, and those things are bad, because large parts of the leftist coalition would get bad feelz if someone “judged” their sodomizing or adulterating. They also have listed anti-abortion groups as “hate groups.” Soooo………they’re bad. Finis.
I pray to have the time tomorrow to post something much more substantive than these endless catalogs of the left’s moral failings and frank evil. They’re important, but I will try to focus tomorrow and next week on much more Catholic-focused posts.
Great Rebuke of Hollyweird by One of Their Own February 17, 2017Posted by Tantumblogo in awesomeness, Basics, cultural marxism, General Catholic, Immigration, pr stunts, scandals, secularism, sickness, silliness, Society.
Robert Davi is a name many people may not remember, but his face would likely be immediately recognized by any who grew up in the 80s or 90s. He played the bad guy or a character actor in a wide variety of movies from Goonies to License to Kill to Die Hard. A man who had a bit of a troubled youth (hardly rare in this day), as he has aged he has become an increasingly devout Catholic and an outspoken conservative.
He gave the response below to Meryl Streep’s tirade against Trump’s limited travel ban (nearly identical to one Obama had implemented years ago), and it’s beautiful. He’s exactly right, it’s time for Hollywood to stop with the words and make with the action, and start opening up their awards shows, banquets, private parties, and even homes to illegal immigrants and muslim “refugees:”
I have recently been pondering President Trump’s executive action with regard to our nation having extreme vetting and our immigration policy finally being enforced. It has pained me deeply to see such a violent reaction to something that, to my mind, makes absolute common sense.
Let me begin by saying that I am from a family of immigrants that came to this country for a better life. They came to the US “legally,” assimilated, integrated, and learned English to the best of their ability, and demanded we speak it. As we all know, we live in a time in which there are forces who wish to destroy our way of life…….
……..We have recently heard from a plethora of Hollywood stars on this issue — Meryl Streep, Robert DeNiro, Ashley Judd, Madonna, major agencies, musicians, singers and even the indomitable Shia LaBeouf. After much prayer on this issue, I must now stand in solidarity with all of my Hollywood elite brethren. They are right! The rest of you are wrong!
It is now in this spirit that I make an appeal to all in Hollywood and the media for us to use the Oscars to take a stand for the entire world to see and hear. It is time for Hollywood to lead the way.
I propose that Meryl Steep, Chelsea Handler, Richard Gere, Robert DeNiro, Christoph Waltz and others lead an Oscar first: let’s do away with the rules, barriers, and tickets to the Oscars and after-parties, such as the swanky Vanity Fair party or the Weinsteins’ star-studded affair. I ask all migrants, all illegal immigrant criminals and all un-vetted refugees to converge on Hollywood to come to the Oscars and all the after-parties, even those held at the mansions or the Chateau Marmont or anywhere else. After all, we in the Hollywood community want to show all Islamic extremists that we have love in our hearts — and what better way to do that than by inviting them along on our most important night?
It’s time the walls and electronic security gates come down. There are roughly 3,600 seats to the Oscars; we should have at least 2,500 seats reserved for illegal aliens, refugees and migrants, or maybe even more. [And bring ’em right in off the desert or aircraft. No showers, no makeovers, show the world the reality of today’s burqa-clad Arabic screaming “refugee” and the man who spent 5 days crossing barren desert with only 8 women to rape along the way for relief. Let him keep that knife he used for “hunting”, too] For those celebrities skipping the ceremony, each should invite at least 100 illegal aliens, refugees or migrants to come to their home to watch the Oscars with them. The Academy and the Vanity Fair people should also get the 150 criminals who have recently been deported from Los Angeles and bring them to the show as honored guests.
I find it curious that when President Obama did the same exact thing — and more — in terms of enforcing the law on illegal immigration, the Hollywood elite were silent. Why were they silent then, but are so vocal now when President Trump is doing basically the same thing? Is Hollywood racist? Why — when Christians are being slaughtered in Syria, Iraq, and other places in the Middle East — is Hollywood silent?
Of course, the people that wish death upon Christians, Jews, gay people and the West are greeted with open arms by the elite in Hollywood — so why can’t they come to our Oscar parties?
Additionally, I am now pleased to announce that Hollywood and the recording industry no longer require the protection of the Men in Blue at any of their events! We do not need a country of laws; only a country of illegal immigrants, refugees and migrants. How dare we ignore the words inscribed on the Statue of Liberty: “Give me your tired, your poor,
your huddled masses yearning to breathe free…”
So now, we ask you all: please come to the Oscars on February 26th at the Dolby Theater on Hollywood Boulevard. We welcome you to our homes with open arms and love in our hearts. Together, let us celebrate the Progressive left and its policies, which have helped make blue collar America Tired, Hungry, and Poor.
And the Oscar goes to…
With love in my heart,
That was awesome. Good for him.
Father George Rutler Obliterates Leftist Furor over Mideast Travel Ban February 16, 2017Posted by Tantumblogo in Basics, catachesis, error, family, General Catholic, Immigration, priests, Revolution, scandals, secularism, self-serving, Society, the struggle for the Church, Tradition.
This may be a bit dated – it was posted 10 days ago – but it’s very good. I thought the comments linking universities to just extended-age day care centers especially prescient. There’s a video at the bottom that ties in today’s “triggered,” screeching college students with their day care upbringings that I believe is spot on. I add emphasis and comments:
In the margin of a public speaker’s manuscript was the notation: “Weak point. Shout.” Such is the rhetoric of those who place emotion over logic and make policy through gangs rather than parliaments. In Athens 2,400 years ago, Aristophanes described the demagogue as having “a screeching, horrible voice, a perverse, cross-grained nature and the language of the marketplace.” That marketplace today includes the biased media and the universities that have become daycare centers. [So what they really are, then, instead of being places of learning and development of independence, simply incredibly expensive extended day care for young adults? Again, see the video at bottom, which I think is incredibly prescient. I do think a fascinating study could be done to examine political ideology against method of upbringing. I do wonder if a lot of the millennial trigger generation is not due to low-attention upbringing.]
The recent action of our government’s executive branch to protect our borders and enforce national security is based on Constitutional obligations (Art. 1 sec 10 and Art. 4 sec 4). It is a practical protection of the tranquility of order explained by Saint Augustine when he saw the tranquillitas ordinis of Roman civilization threatened. Saint Thomas Aquinas sanctioned border control (S. Th. I-II, Q. 105, Art. 3). No mobs shouted in the marketplace two years ago when the Terrorist Travel Prevention Act restricted visa waivers for Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Somalia, Libya and Yemen. The present ban continues that, and only for a stipulated ninety days, save for Syria. There is no “Muslim ban” as should be obvious from the fact that the restrictions do not apply to other countries with Muslim majorities, such as Egypt, Indonesia, Pakistan, Malaysia, Bangladesh and Turkey. [Truth has no meaning anymore. Not for the elites and their leftist allies, who are so one in essence I repeat myself. They think “banning muslims” will turn people off Trump, but in reality a majority of Americans are in favor of completely terminating all immigration by muslims into this country.]
These are facts ignored by demagogues who speak of tears running down the face of the Statue of Liberty. At issue is not immigration, but illegal immigration. It is certainly manipulative of reason to justify uncontrolled immigration by citing previous generations of immigrants to our shores, all of whom went through the legal process, mostly in the halls of Ellis Island. And it is close to blasphemy to invoke the Holy Family as antinomian refugees, for they went to Bethlehem in obedience to a civil decree requiring tax registration, and they violated no statutes when they sought protection in Egypt…….
It is obvious that the indignant demonstrators against the new Executive Orders are funded in no little part by wealthy interests who would provoke agitation. [Because they seek to maintain the status quo that so enriches and empowers them even as it exposes Americans (and many others) to increasing danger and poverty. But like Francis, being the perfect narcissists they are, they care for no one but themselves.] These same people have not shown any concern about the neglected Christians seeking refuge from persecution in the Middle East. In 2016 there was a 675% increase in the number of Syrian refugees over the previous year, but while 10% of the Syrian population is Christian, only one-half of one percent of the Syrian Christians were granted asylum. It is thankworthy that our changed government now wants to redress that. The logic of that policy must not be shouted down by those who screech rather than reason.
They screech because they have very little to reason with, either from supporting evidence, or even the ability to argue. That’s much of the reason behind the outrage sparked by Milo Yiannopolous, if you’re unable to out-argue someone, shout them down. These paid leftist rioters cannot argue with the will of the American people, so they are trying to subvert it in the streets.
Yes, the argument below is snarky and simplistic, but I do wonder if there may not be something to it:

As Ace notes, if the other side keeps throwing sucker punches at peaceful protesters, it won’t be long before our side – more numerous, certainly better armed and trained – starts to do the same. What then? Will it just be another round of escalation to out and out armed conflict? Can militantly atheistic/socialistic people exist with millions of God-fearing people? Should we want them to?
This is going to get much, much worse, before it gets better:
Protesters at Portland International Airport in Oregon attacked a Donald Trump supporter on Sunday, knocking him unconscious after repeatedly hitting him in the head.
Protests have broken out at airports across the U.S. over the past few days after President Trump signed an executive order temporarily halting refugees and citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the country over terrorism fears.
Grant Chisholm, 39, of Portland, Ore. was at the airport with three other members of the group Bible Believers for a counter-protest on Sunday.
During the protest, Chisholm was hit in the head three times “with something metallic” by one of the demonstrators protesting against Trump, the Oregonian reported.
The incident was caught on video and uploaded to Facebook by the group Women for Trump Movement. The video shows Chisholm falling to the ground after another man appears to punch him in the head.
After Chisholm falls to the ground, two men lean over him to protect him from further blows to the head, the video shows. Eventually security appears to manage the situation.
In the background of the video, some protestors can be heard shouting “Peace” while others taunt an unconscious Chisholm.
One protester can be heard calling Chisholm a “Nazi Boy” and another man can be heard yelling “your boy got knocked out.”
Viz the stark cultural and religious divide afflicting this nation, this video below from TFP helps illustrate the point:
Not to be a jerk about it, but the division between the two sides extends even to appearance.
Leftists and their allies are claiming today that to be a conservative equals being a very, very bad person. Is this yet another case of their projecting their true estimation of themselves onto others? Are these “good people” out there vulgarly, violently protesting (often for pay)?
I did not think I would see this nation come to this pass during my lifetime. It is shocking how rapidly things seem to be falling apart (and I recognize that much of this “primal scream” of the Left is centrally planned and directed astroturf, but it remains nonetheless).
I did get myself a little something for Christmas:
Winchester SXP “Extreme Defender.” The “extreme” means a pistol grip. Got some #4 buck in it right now.
The fervent hope is that this will only be used for fun. But criminy who knows anymore.
Buchanan on What Trump’s Wall Says to the World…….. January 27, 2017Posted by Tantumblogo in awesomeness, Basics, catachesis, cultural marxism, different religion, episcopate, error, foolishness, General Catholic, Immigration, Restoration, scandals, sickness, Society, Tradition.
……and what it says about the growing national divide between Americans.
Good piece below from fellow trad Patrick Buchanan. Thanks to reader TT who sent it along (my emphasis and comments):
The opposition’s arguments are usually rooted in economics or practicality. The wall is unnecessary. It will not stop people from coming illegally. It costs too much.
Yet something deeper is afoot here. The idea of a permanent barrier between our countries goes to the heart of the divide between our two Americas on the most fundamental of questions.
Who are we? What is a nation? What does America stand for?
Those desperate to see the wall built, illegal immigration halted, and those here illegally deported, see the country they grew up in as dying, disappearing, with something strange and foreign taking its place. [Not only strange and foreign, but a country that will be much poorer, much less Christian, more violent, and with third world style impenetrable social strata. Our elites seem to want that very much, especially the last bit. They don’t seem to like having to rub elbows with the hoi polloi, and want a nation in which economic and social mobility is strictly limited. I want a country where my kids have a chance at a happy life and a moral environment that is conducive to their final end, eternal happiness with God. Everything the Left advances gravely undermines both of those fundamental needs]
It is not only that illegal migrants take jobs from Americans, that they commit crimes, or that so many require subsidized food, welfare, housing, education and health care. It is that they are changing our country. They are changing who we are………
………What those with memories of that America see happening today is the disintegration of our nation of yesterday. The savagery of our politics, exemplified in the last election, testifies to how Americans are coming to detest one another as much as the Valley Forge generation came to detest the British from whom they broke free. [Indeed. Some prominent commentators wonder whether we are not already in a de facto state of civil war.]
In 1960, we were a Western Christian country. Ninety [plus] percent of our people traced their roots to Europe. Ninety [plus] percent bore some connection to the Christian faith. To the tens of millions for whom Trump appeals, what the wall represents is our last chance to preserve that nation and people.
To many on the cosmopolitan left, ethnic or national identity is not only not worth fighting for, it is not even worth preserving. It is a form of atavistic tribalism or racism. [This is really key. The Left is a tribal grouping based on ideology. Conform to the ideology cum religion and you are a member of the tribe. Members must constantly make demonstrations of their professing the required ideology, and imposing it on as many other people as possible. The more aggressive the profession of leftist faith, the higher one’s standing in the tribe. A key component of the tribal ideology is that all those outside the tribe are inferior, practically sub-human, and must be destroyed. Thus, the stage is set for endless conflict, which is indeed, exactly what the Left wants.]
The Trump wall then touches on the great struggle of our age.
Given that 80 percent of all people of color vote Democratic, neither the Trump movement nor the Republican Party can survive the Third Worldization of the United States now written in the cards.
Moreover, with the disintegration of the nation we are seeing, and with talk of the breakup of states like Texas and secession of states like California, how do we survive as one nation and people?…… [Breakup of Texas? Zuh? I don’t think so.]
………..President Trump’s wall is a statement to the world: This is our country. We decide who comes here. And we will defend our borders.
The crisis of our time is not that some Americans are saying this, but that so many are too paralyzed to say it, or do not care, or embrace what is happening to their country.
Especially the latter. Nice summation of the current state of affairs. The Left is in wholesale meltdown mode, because I think they see in Trump – I pray rightly so – someone who, contrary to his predecessors, actually MIGHT roll back many of the gains they’ve made over the past 50 years. That it would be a man of such troubled personal morality that would do it would be incredibly ironic. But that’s history for you.
I do wish Buchanan would also more regularly inveigh against the USCCB and most individual bishops, who are fervent promoters of the cult of holy immigration. Aside from a few high profile issues like abortion – to which they primarily pay lip service, not real action – if there is a socially divisive question of the day, you can almost rely on the USCCB to be on the wrong side of it. Of course, it’s not as bad as it was during the 70s and 80s, when the conference was deeply and radically left wing, but it’s also far from great and with Cupich and his ilk assuming more and more important sees, we’re headed back in that direction. But there I go, being hard-hearted and impossible to please again………
