Just some data to confirm what you already knew: the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which probably did some good and helpful work decades ago in helping to undermine and eliminate the legacy of the Jim Crow South, long ago became just another corrupt agent of leftist agitprop.  More specifically, they’re simply another attack wing of the demonrat party, trading on the good name and legacy they built up decades ago to engage in nakedly biased, partisan political attacks.

And typical for politically favored institutional attack dogs, their attacks are typically based on outright falsehoods and incredibly manipulated “data.”  As a for instance, in the wake of Trump’s election – and frankly mere days after the event – the SPLC claimed that “attacks” against  muslims had skyrocketed, as had the number of anti-muslim “hate” groups.

How did this horrible outbreak of persecution occur?  By broadcasting doubtful, or even inventing, incidents (many of which have been very publicly debunked) and listing things like billboards and individuals who hold beliefs the very far left SPLC finds wrong as being purveyors of “hate,” even if these beliefs are held by a large majority of Americans.  FrontPageMag has catalogued a partial list of some of their recent inventions and false condemnations of largely innocent people, who simply happen to think differently than they do, and it’s an amazing compilation:

“Huge Growth in Anti-Muslim Hate Groups During 2016: SPLC Report,” wails NBC News. “Watchdog: Number of anti-Muslim hate groups tripled since 2015,” FOX News bleats. ABC News vomits up this word salad. “Trump cited in report finding increase in US hate groups for 2nd year in a row.”

The SPLC stands for the Southern Poverty Law Center: an organization with slightly less credibility than Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey Clown College, and without the academic degree in greasepaint.

And you won’t believe the shameless way the SPLC faked its latest Islamophobia crisis.

The Southern Poverty Law Center’s latest “hate group” sightings claims that the “number of anti-Muslim hate groups increased almost three-fold in 2016.”

That’s a lot of folds.

And there is both bad news and good news from its “Year in Hate and Extremism.”

First the good news.

Casa D’Ice Signs, the sign outside a bar in K-Mart Plaza in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, is no longer listed as a hate group. The sign outside the bar had been listed as a hate group by the SPLC for years. The owner of Casa D’Ice had been known for putting politically incorrect signs outside his bar. So the SPLC listed the “signs” as a hate group. (Even though there was only one sign.) Not the bar. That would have made too much sense.

Since then Casa D’Ice was sold and the SPLC has celebrated the defeat of another hate group. Even if the hate group was just a plastic sign outside a bar.

But the bad news, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, is that anti-Muslim hate groups shot up from only 34 in 2015 to 101 in 2016.

What could possibly account for that growth? Statistical fakery so fake that a Vegas bookie would weep…….

…….The SPLC decided to count 45 chapters of Act for America as separate groups.

How do you get a sudden rise from 34 to 101 hate groups? It helps to suddenly add 45 chapters of one group. Act for America isn’t a hate group. It’s also just as obviously not 45 groups.

Act for America was only listed as one group in the 2015 list. It shot up to 45 now.

Furthermore Act for America boasts not 45, but 1,000 chapters across the country. Why list just 45 of them? Look at it from the SPLC’s perspective. Next year, it can add 200 chapters and claim that anti-Muslim hate groups once again tripled. And then it can do the same thing again the year after that……..

……..[T]he SPLC makes a point of highlighting the locations of likely terrorist targets. [People who oppose radical islam, for instance, or who uphold traditional morality] And the Southern Poverty Law Center’s map of hate has been used by terrorists before.

Floyd Lee Corkins opened fire at the headquarters of the Family Research Council. The conservative Christian organization had been targeted by Corkins because of its appearance on the SPLC’s list.

“Southern Poverty Law lists anti-gay groups. I found them online,” Corkins later confessed to the FBI.

When Leo Johnson, the building’s African-American manager, attempted to stop Corkins, the SPLC shooter told Johnson that he didn’t like his politics and opened fire. The SPLC gunman had planned to kill everyone in the office, but Johnson’s heroic actions saved their lives. The African-American building manager was forced to undergo painful surgeries because of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s hate list.

Despite its role in the terror attack, the SPLC continues to target the Family Research Council.

None of the so-called “Anti-Muslim hate groups” listed by the SPLC have shot anyone. The SPLC has……

……..But there is one barrier to being listed as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

No amount of overt anti-Semitism from CAIR’s Nihad Awad would ever get the Islamist hate group listed as a hate group. Even CAIR’s flirtation with Neo-Nazis and Holocaust deniers can’t get it on the hate map. The SPLC collaborated with the Muslim Public Affairs Council despite its anti-Semitism.

Instead the SPLC lists counterterrorism organizations such as the Investigative Project on Terrorism, the Clarion Project and the David Horowitz Freedom Center which point out their terror ties as hate groups.

The Southern Poverty Law Center is greedy, cynical and dishonest.

Shorter post – the SPLC are thoroughgoing leftists who trade on the name and sufferings of those who truly fought discrimination and unjust persecution in order to advance leftism. If a person or group leans left, or is perceived as being part of the leftist coalition, as muslims are (even though muslims would destroy them, and take away so much of the sexual license leftists purport to love), they can literally do no wrong.  If a person or group (or sign) is perceived as standing in opposition to leftism, they can do no right, and the SPLC will be quite happy to unjustly tar that individual as some kind of hate-mongerer, if they hold beliefs counter to the religion of sexualized secular paganism.  It’s a travesty what they are allowed to do, but it’s part and parcel of the Left here and throughout the West.

Indeed, the SPLC has long listed traditional Catholic groups like the SSPX as “extremist” and supposedly guilty of one bad “-ism” or another.  That’s because traditional Catholics uphold morals and decency, and those things are bad, because large parts of the leftist coalition would get bad feelz if someone “judged” their sodomizing or adulterating.  They also have listed anti-abortion groups as “hate groups.”  Soooo………they’re bad.  Finis.

I pray to have the time tomorrow to post something much more substantive than these endless catalogs of the left’s moral failings and frank evil.  They’re important, but I will try to focus tomorrow and next week on much more Catholic-focused posts.

Robert Davi is a name many people may not remember, but his face would likely be immediately recognized by any who grew up in the 80s or 90s.  He played the bad guy or a character actor in a wide variety of movies from Goonies to License to Kill to Die Hard.  A man who had a bit of a troubled youth (hardly rare in this day), as he has aged he has become an increasingly devout Catholic and an outspoken conservative.

He gave the response below to Meryl Streep’s tirade against Trump’s limited travel ban (nearly identical to one Obama had implemented years ago), and it’s beautiful.  He’s exactly right, it’s time for Hollywood to stop with the words and make with the action, and start opening up their awards shows, banquets, private parties, and even homes to illegal immigrants and muslim “refugees:”

I have recently been pondering President Trump’s executive action with regard to our nation having extreme vetting and our immigration policy finally being enforced. It has pained me deeply to see such a violent reaction to something that, to my mind, makes absolute common sense.

Let me begin by saying that I am from a family of immigrants that came to this country for a better life. They came to the US “legally,” assimilated, integrated, and learned English to the best of their ability, and demanded we speak it. As we all know, we live in a time in which there are forces who wish to destroy our way of life…….

……..We have recently heard from a plethora of Hollywood stars on this issue — Meryl Streep, Robert DeNiro, Ashley Judd, Madonna, major agencies, musicians, singers and even the indomitable Shia LaBeouf. After much prayer on this issue, I must now stand in solidarity with all of my Hollywood elite brethren. They are right! The rest of you are wrong!

It is now in this spirit that I make an appeal to all in Hollywood and the media for us to use the Oscars to take a stand for the entire world to see and hear. It is time for Hollywood to lead the way.

I propose that Meryl Steep, Chelsea Handler, Richard Gere, Robert DeNiro, Christoph Waltz and others lead an Oscar first: let’s do away with the rules, barriers, and tickets to the Oscars and after-parties, such as the swanky Vanity Fair party or the Weinsteins’ star-studded affair. I ask all migrants, all illegal immigrant criminals and all un-vetted refugees to converge on Hollywood to come to the Oscars and all the after-parties, even those held at the mansions or the Chateau Marmont or anywhere else. After all, we in the Hollywood community want to show all Islamic extremists that we have love in our hearts — and what better way to do that than by inviting them along on our most important night?

It’s time the walls and electronic security gates come down. There are roughly 3,600 seats to the Oscars; we should have at least 2,500 seats reserved for illegal aliens, refugees and migrants, or maybe even more. [And bring ’em right in off the desert or aircraft.  No showers, no makeovers, show the world the reality of today’s burqa-clad Arabic screaming “refugee” and the man who spent 5 days crossing barren desert with only 8 women to rape along the way for relief.  Let him keep that knife he used for “hunting”, too] For those celebrities skipping the ceremony, each should invite at least 100 illegal aliens, refugees or migrants to come to their home to watch the Oscars with them. The Academy and the Vanity Fair people should also get the 150 criminals who have recently been deported from Los Angeles and bring them to the show as honored guests.

I find it curious that when President Obama did the same exact thing — and more — in terms of enforcing the law on illegal immigration, the Hollywood elite were silent. Why were they silent then, but are so vocal now when President Trump is doing basically the same thing? Is Hollywood racist? Why — when Christians are being slaughtered in Syria, Iraq, and other places in the Middle East — is Hollywood silent?

Of course, the people that wish death upon Christians, Jews, gay people and the West are greeted with open arms by the elite in Hollywood — so why can’t they come to our Oscar parties?

Additionally, I am now pleased to announce that Hollywood and the recording industry no longer require the protection of the Men in Blue at any of their events! We do not need a country of laws; only a country of illegal immigrants, refugees and migrants. How dare we ignore the words inscribed on the Statue of Liberty: “Give me your tired, your poor,
your huddled masses yearning to breathe free…”

So now, we ask you all: please come to the Oscars on February 26th at the Dolby Theater on Hollywood Boulevard. We welcome you to our homes with open arms and love in our hearts. Together, let us celebrate the Progressive left and its policies, which have helped make blue collar America Tired, Hungry, and Poor.

And the Oscar goes to…

With love in my heart,

Robert Davi

That was awesome.  Good for him.

This may be a bit dated – it was posted 10 days ago – but it’s very good.  I thought the comments linking universities to just extended-age day care centers especially prescient.  There’s a video at the bottom that ties in today’s “triggered,” screeching college students with their day care upbringings that I believe is spot on.  I add emphasis and comments:

In the margin of a public speaker’s manuscript was the notation: “Weak point. Shout.” Such is the rhetoric of those who place emotion over logic and make policy through gangs rather than parliaments. In Athens 2,400 years ago, Aristophanes described the demagogue as having “a screeching, horrible voice, a perverse, cross-grained nature and the language of the marketplace.” That marketplace today includes the biased media and the universities that have become daycare centers. [So what they really are, then, instead of being places of learning and development of independence, simply incredibly expensive extended day care for young adults?  Again, see the video at bottom, which I think is incredibly prescient.  I do think a fascinating study could be done to examine political ideology against method of upbringing.  I do wonder if a lot of the millennial trigger generation is not due to low-attention upbringing.]

The recent action of our government’s executive branch to protect our borders and enforce national security is based on Constitutional obligations (Art. 1 sec 10 and Art. 4 sec 4). It is a practical protection of the tranquility of order explained by Saint Augustine when he saw the tranquillitas ordinis of Roman civilization threatened. Saint Thomas Aquinas sanctioned border control (S. Th. I-II, Q. 105, Art. 3). No mobs shouted in the marketplace two years ago when the Terrorist Travel Prevention Act restricted visa waivers for Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Somalia, Libya and Yemen. The present ban continues that, and only for a stipulated ninety days, save for Syria. There is no “Muslim ban” as should be obvious from the fact that the restrictions do not apply to other countries with Muslim majorities, such as Egypt, Indonesia, Pakistan, Malaysia, Bangladesh and Turkey. [Truth has no meaning anymore.  Not for the elites and their leftist allies, who are so one in essence I repeat myself.  They think “banning muslims” will turn people off Trump, but in reality a majority of Americans are in favor of completely terminating all immigration by muslims into this country.]

These are facts ignored by demagogues who speak of tears running down the face of the Statue of Liberty. At issue is not immigration, but illegal immigration. It is certainly manipulative of reason to justify uncontrolled immigration by citing previous generations of immigrants to our shores, all of whom went through the legal process, mostly in the halls of Ellis Island. And it is close to blasphemy to invoke the Holy Family as antinomian refugees, for they went to Bethlehem in obedience to a civil decree requiring tax registration, and they violated no statutes when they sought protection in Egypt…….

It is obvious that the indignant demonstrators against the new Executive Orders are funded in no little part by wealthy interests who would provoke agitation. [Because they seek to maintain the status quo that so enriches and empowers them even as it exposes Americans (and many others) to increasing danger and poverty.  But like Francis, being the perfect narcissists they are, they care for no one but themselves.] These same people have not shown any concern about the neglected Christians seeking refuge from persecution in the Middle East. In 2016 there was a 675% increase in the number of Syrian refugees over the previous year, but while 10% of the Syrian population is Christian, only one-half of one percent of the Syrian Christians were granted asylum. It is thankworthy that our changed government now wants to redress that. The logic of that policy must not be shouted down by those who screech rather than reason.

They screech because they have very little to reason with, either from supporting evidence, or even the ability to argue.  That’s much of the reason behind the outrage sparked by Milo Yiannopolous, if you’re unable to out-argue someone, shout them down.  These paid leftist rioters cannot argue with the will of the American people, so they are trying to subvert it in the streets.

Yes, the argument below is snarky and simplistic, but I do wonder if there may not be something to it:

As Ace notes, if the other side keeps throwing sucker punches at peaceful protesters, it won’t be long before our side – more numerous, certainly better armed and trained – starts to do the same.  What then?  Will it just be another round of escalation to out and out armed conflict?  Can militantly atheistic/socialistic people exist with millions of God-fearing people?  Should we want them to?

This is going to get much, much worse, before it gets better:

Protesters at Portland International Airport in Oregon attacked a Donald Trump supporter on Sunday, knocking him unconscious after repeatedly hitting him in the head.

Protests have broken out at airports across the U.S. over the past few days after President Trump signed an executive order temporarily halting refugees and citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the country over terrorism fears.

Grant Chisholm, 39, of Portland, Ore. was at the airport with three other members of the group Bible Believers for a counter-protest on Sunday.

During the protest, Chisholm was hit in the head three times “with something metallic” by one of the demonstrators protesting against Trump, the Oregonian reported.

The incident was caught on video and uploaded to Facebook by the group Women for Trump Movement. The video shows Chisholm falling to the ground after another man appears to punch him in the head.

After Chisholm falls to the ground, two men lean over him to protect him from further blows to the head, the video shows. Eventually security appears to manage the situation.

In the background of the video, some protestors can be heard shouting “Peace” while others taunt an unconscious Chisholm.

One protester can be heard calling Chisholm a “Nazi Boy” and another man can be heard yelling “your boy got knocked out.”

Viz the stark cultural and religious divide afflicting this nation, this video below from TFP helps illustrate the point:

Not to be a jerk about it, but the division between the two sides extends even to appearance.

Leftists and their allies are claiming today that to be a conservative equals being a very, very bad person.  Is this yet another case of their projecting their true estimation of themselves onto others?  Are these “good people” out there vulgarly, violently protesting (often for pay)?

I did not think I would see this nation come to this pass during my lifetime.  It is shocking how rapidly things seem to be falling apart (and I recognize that much of this “primal scream” of the Left is centrally planned and directed astroturf, but it remains nonetheless).

I did get myself a little something for Christmas:

wm_7095017

Winchester SXP “Extreme Defender.”  The “extreme” means a pistol grip. Got some #4 buck in it right now.

The fervent hope is that this will only be used for fun.  But criminy who knows anymore.

Buchanan on What Trump’s Wall Says to the World…….. January 27, 2017

……and what it says about the growing national divide between Americans.

Good piece below from fellow trad Patrick Buchanan.  Thanks to reader TT who sent it along (my emphasis and comments):

The opposition’s arguments are usually rooted in economics or practicality. The wall is unnecessary. It will not stop people from coming illegally. It costs too much.

Yet something deeper is afoot here. The idea of a permanent barrier between our countries goes to the heart of the divide between our two Americas on the most fundamental of questions.

Who are we? What is a nation? What does America stand for?

Those desperate to see the wall built, illegal immigration halted, and those here illegally deported, see the country they grew up in as dying, disappearing, with something strange and foreign taking its place. [Not only strange and foreign, but a country that will be much poorer, much less Christian, more violent, and with third world style impenetrable social strata.  Our elites seem to want that very much, especially the last bit.  They don’t seem to like having to rub elbows with the hoi polloi, and want a nation in which economic and social mobility is strictly limited.  I want a country where my kids have a chance at a happy life and a moral environment that is conducive to their final end, eternal happiness with God.  Everything the Left advances gravely undermines both of those fundamental needs]

It is not only that illegal migrants take jobs from Americans, that they commit crimes, or that so many require subsidized food, welfare, housing, education and health care. It is that they are changing our country. They are changing who we are………

………What those with memories of that America see happening today is the disintegration of our nation of yesterday. The savagery of our politics, exemplified in the last election, testifies to how Americans are coming to detest one another as much as the Valley Forge generation came to detest the British from whom they broke free[Indeed.  Some prominent commentators wonder whether we are not already in a de facto state of civil war.]

In 1960, we were a Western Christian country. Ninety [plus]  percent of our people traced their roots to Europe. Ninety [plus] percent bore some connection to the Christian faith. To the tens of millions for whom Trump appeals, what the wall represents is our last chance to preserve that nation and people.

To many on the cosmopolitan left, ethnic or national identity is not only not worth fighting for, it is not even worth preserving. It is a form of atavistic tribalism or racism. [This is really key.  The Left is a tribal grouping based on ideology.  Conform to the ideology cum religion and you are a member of the tribe.  Members must constantly make demonstrations of their professing the required ideology, and imposing it on as many other people as possible.  The more aggressive the profession of leftist faith, the higher one’s standing in the tribe. A key component of the tribal ideology is that all those outside the tribe are inferior, practically sub-human, and must be destroyed.  Thus, the stage is set for endless conflict, which is indeed, exactly what the Left wants.]

The Trump wall then touches on the great struggle of our age.

Given that 80 percent of all people of color vote Democratic, neither the Trump movement nor the Republican Party can survive the Third Worldization of the United States now written in the cards.

Moreover, with the disintegration of the nation we are seeing, and with talk of the breakup of states like Texas and secession of states like California, how do we survive as one nation and people?…… [Breakup of Texas?  Zuh?  I don’t think so.]

………..President Trump’s wall is a statement to the world: This is our country. We decide who comes here. And we will defend our borders.

The crisis of our time is not that some Americans are saying this, but that so many are too paralyzed to say it, or do not care, or embrace what is happening to their country.

Especially the latter.  Nice summation of the current state of affairs.  The Left is in wholesale meltdown mode, because I think they see in Trump – I pray rightly so – someone who, contrary to his predecessors, actually MIGHT roll back many of the gains they’ve made over the past 50 years.  That it would be a man of such troubled personal morality that would do it would be incredibly ironic. But that’s history for you.

I do wish Buchanan would also more regularly inveigh against the USCCB and most individual bishops, who are fervent promoters of the cult of holy immigration.  Aside from a few high profile issues like abortion – to which they primarily pay lip service, not real action – if there is a socially divisive question of the day, you can almost rely on the USCCB to be on the wrong side of it.  Of course, it’s not as bad as it was during the 70s and 80s, when the conference was deeply and radically left wing, but it’s also far from great and with Cupich and his ilk assuming more and more important sees, we’re headed back in that direction.  But there I go, being hard-hearted and impossible to please again………

The Most Schadenfreude-Filled Inauguration Ever? January 20, 2017

On this afternoon where our long national nightmare ends (and we are reminded of how an even worse one was avoided), there’s a lot of schadenfreude in the air.  Not that I mind.  I’m enjoying this as much as anyone.  Some videos from the day, including Trump’s swearing in and inaugural speech:

Promise the moon much?  I worry about the endless infrastructure and educational promises.  I am heartened by reports Trump intends to sharply reduce federal government staffing. We’ll see whether he can deliver.

The ceremonial parade, where Trump drags his vanquished enemies behind his golden chariot, is ongoing:

There have been riots and disruptions flaming tantrums aplenty today from some of those enemies yet unvanquished.  They managed to disrupt traffic and then started devolving into the usual childish violence cum rioting for which the Left is so justly infamous.  Keep it up, boneheads……..that’s how you got Trump.

In fact, as I watch the livestream right now, it seems the inaugural parade could descend into a wild melee at any moment.  Nice.  This is the new normal, folks. The Left would be reacting this way to ANY Republican who won, because all they have left in their rhetorical arsenal is hateful demonization.

Language warning below, but the always funny and on-point Gavin McGinness reviews Obama’s deplorable near-decade in office.  Worst. President. Ever.  McGinness is part of the new, young, very hip right that is – for better or worse – remaking the conservative movement in this country into a much more energized, combative, confrontational effort.  It will be interesting to see if this new movement has persistence or just happened to catch the Trump wave.

Czech Gov’t to Citizens on How to Fight Islamist Terrorists – Shoot Them Yourselves January 13, 2017

That’s a novel approach, especially for Europe:

A couple of months ago, Czech President Milos Zeman made an unusual request: He urged citizens to arm themselves against a possible “super-Holocaust” carried out by Muslim terrorists.

Never mind that there are fewer than 4,000 Muslims in this country of 10 million people [that’s supposed to be a bad thing?!?  Good for the Czechs from keeping the invading hordes of military-age males out of their country]gun purchases spiked. One shop owner in East Bohemia, a region in the northern center of the Czech Republic, told a local paper that people were scared of a “wave of Islamists.”

Now the country’s interior ministry is pushing a constitutional change that would let citizens use guns against terrorists. Proponents say this could save lives if an attack occurs and police are delayed or unable to make their way to the scene. To become law, Parliament must approve the proposal; they’ll vote in the coming months.

The Czech Republic already has some of the most lenient gun policies in Europe. It’s home to about 800,000 registered firearms and 300,000 people with gun licenses. Obtaining a weapon is relatively easy: Residents must be 21, pass a gun knowledge check and have no criminal record. By law, Czechs can use their weapons to protect their property or when in danger, although they need to prove they faced a real threat.

This puts the country at odds with much of Europe, which has long supported much more stringent gun-control measures.  In the wake of the 2015 terror attacks in Paris, France pushed the European Union to enact even tougher policies. The European Commission’s initial proposal called for a complete ban on the sale of weapons like Kalashnikovs or AR-15s that are intended primarily for military use. Ammunition magazines would be limited to 20 rounds or less.

That bill subsequently passed in slightly modified form over the Czech government’s opposition, meaning that this vote is more than a bit of kabuki theater – the EU’s laws will supersede whatever laws the Czech government puts in place.  it also means a great many weapons currently legal in Czech and some other nations will soon be illegal.  If I were the Czechs, I’d be working towards a Czexit right now.

Most of Europe has long been much less free with basic human rights – like the right to self defense – than this nation has been.  While Europeans will giggle and say that’s why Europe has a lot fewer firearms deaths than the US, I would retort that the US also hasn’t ever had a concentration camp nor an endless cycle of totalitarian regimes.  The Czechs used to live under one of those.  That has more than a little to do with Czechs’ desire to own firearms, which is something I’ve seen personally (though I think the number of firearms and firearms owners listed above severely under-represents reality).

Trump to DHS: Start Preparations to Build Wall January 4, 2017

Wellity wellity wellity – is this one prominent campaign promise that might come true?  What might such a wall look like?  What kind of overwatch would it have?  Guard towers every X meters, or regular patrols, or an abundance of sensors, or all of the above, or?  If we can find three camel herding Taliban in 50,000 square kilometers of mountain terrain with airborne drones, can we not find most all the 2-3 million illegals who cross the border every year?

Do you think it will really happen?  I imagine the wall would have to be completed within his term(s) of office, because I don’t see many replacements that would finish it.  Can it be done?  How much will it help? (my guess – if built right and patrolled properly, it will cut illegal immigration 90+%, which is why the business/political elite hates the idea so much):

A memo from the Department of Homeland Security, which was recently reviewed by Reuters, suggest that the Trump administration plans to hit the ground running on the construction of that U.S.-Mexico border wall when they move into the White House later this month.  The memo apparently summarized a meeting held between DHS officials and Trump’s transition team on December 5th in which requests were made for an assessment of “all assets available for border wall and barrier construction.” [Back in the 80s, the South Africans had flat bed trucks rigged with gear that could spit out hundreds of feet of triple concertina wire in seconds. The truck just drove along at a fair pace while the wire spat out the back.  Great way to isolate a fair sized locality very quickly. A southern border wall could be built incrementally, starting with a quick and dirty version while a more permanent one is built.  Even triple concertina will slow people down, a lot.]

In a wide-ranging request for documents and analysis, President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team asked the Department of Homeland Security last month to assess all assets available for border wall and barrier construction.

The requests were made in a Dec. 5 meeting between Trump’s transition team and Department of Homeland Security officials, according to an internal agency memo reviewed by Reuters. The document offers a glimpse into the president-elect’s strategy for securing the U.S. borders and reversing polices put in place by the Obama administration. [The Left will try to tie this up in the courts]

The Trump transition team also allegedly took aim at Obama’s executive actions, requesting “copies of every executive order and directive sent to immigration agents since Obama took office in 2009.”

The transition team also asked for copies of every executive order and directive sent to immigration agents since Obama took office in 2009, according to the memo summarizing the meeting.

Trump has said he intends to undo Obama’s executive actions on immigration, including a 2012 order to allow children brought to the U.S. illegally by their parents to remain in the country on temporary authorizations that allow them to attend college and work. [the so-called “dreamers.”]

The program, known as DACA, collected information including participants’ addresses that could theoretically be used to locate and deport them if the policy is reversed.

I’m agnostic on what happens to those millions currently in the country illegally once a wall gets built, or the immigration system is otherwise contained and stabilized at much lower, more easily integrated numbers.  I would actually prioritize expatriation of muslims, especially those with any even remotely radical or criminal connections, far ahead of deporting Hispanics.  Once the immigration rate is stabilized, it may be found that most Hispanics currently here illegally may remain and begin a path to normalized citizenship (save for those with criminal records and with a history of welfare abuse).  There are many reasonable avenues to pursue, once the crisis is past and we can calmly and rationally consider what to do with those already here.

But it’s almost impossible to act wisely while in the midst of such a terrific crisis as we are faced with a practically non-existent southern border.  It’s also difficult to act wisely when one political party seeks to gain a permanent majority by importing reliable voters to the detriment to much of the existing native population.  There are myriad reasons why a wall is necessary and prudent, in spite of any “offense” building such might seem to commit against charity.  Charity does have its bounds, especially in the material sense.  It is not required to absolutely impoverish oneself for the improvement of another, and that could well be what this nation faces on this current path of essentially unconstrained immigration.

One can only imagine the wailing and gnashing of teeth that will emanate from the USCCB (and this diocese?) should one brick get laid on that wall.  We rarely hear how those imported Catholics (half of which will be gone from the Church within 10 years or less) are exploited and abused by unscrupulous employers due to their precarious legal status.

Catholic Charities of Dallas Helped Settle OSU Jihadist Attacker December 5, 2016

Oh, the post-conciliar Church is nothing if not completely mesmerized by cultural marxism.  Of course Church authorities in this country would be making a major play to help bring hundreds of thousands of almost entirely un-screened muslims into this country, both for the virtue it would signal to those they so desperately want to be recognized a part of  (the leftist social-political elite) and for the government funds that are in it. And naturally Dallas would also have to somehow be involved, in this case, Catholic Charities of Dallas, which helped bring Abdul Razak Ali Artan into this country along with SEVEN other members of his family.

It’s all so entirely predictable:

The Somali-born man suspected of plowing his car into a group of pedestrians on the Ohio State University campus Monday and stabbing people with butcher knife had ties to Dallas.

Abdul Razak Ali Artan, his mother and six siblings got help from Catholic Charities after they arrived in Dallas on June 5, 2014, KXAS-TV (NBC5) reported.

“We gave them aid and comfort and some shelter as part of the government resettlement program,” Catholic Charities C.E.O. Dave Woodyard told the station.

Artan and his family “arrived at DFW Airport by way of JFK International Airport, and stayed in temporary housing in Dallas for 23 days,” according to NBC5.

A spokesperson for the State Department tells Breitbart News that 98 Somali refugees arrived in Texas in June of 2014, according to the U.S. Department of State’s Worldwide Refugee Admissions Processing System database.

Twenty-six were resettled in Dallas, 47 in Fort Worth, 19 in Houston, and 6 in Austin.

NBC News reported earlier that Artan was born in Somalia, then moved to Pakistan with his family in 2007. [Given that few countries are more embroiled in islamic extremism than Pakistan, and given how many jihadis have already hailed from that broken, backward nation, should not every single emigre from there receive extreme scrutiny, if emigration from that nation is to be allowed at all?]

Presumably, Artan and his family were processed by the UNHCR while in Pakistan, where they completed the current security vetting process and overseas medical screening. At some point, they were approved to enter the United States as participants in the federal refugee resettlement program by an officer of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), part of the Department of Homeland Security………..

…….After determining the “head count” of arriving refugees for a particular city and state, the local authorized resettlement agency (the affiliate of one of nine major voluntary agencies, or “VOLAGs,” who are paid more than $1 billion per year by the federal government to resettle refugees), is paid to resettle the refugees. Those payments include allocations for housing, food, education, and other financial benefits.[Oh, it’s just all a great game. Everyone gets theirs off the taxpayer’s teat.  The Church in this nation has become so utterly addicted to federal money, both because it’s easy and because the local “product” is so enervating few are moved to donate more than a pittance (which, why bother, when the agencies are so corrupt and compromsed, and when they receive 90% or more of their funding from the US taxpayer), that there would hardly be Catholic charitable works in many regards without that federal money]

Local resettlement agencies typically submit annual resettlement plans, which identify the number of refugees they intend to resettled, and the countries of origin of those refugees.

In the case of Artan, his mother, and six siblings, all eight were made the responsibility of Catholic Charities of Dallas, which “began resettling refugees operating under the auspices of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) contract with the federal government. . . in the late 1970s,” according to its website……..

…….“Catholic Charities of Dallas works with the United States government to shelter refugees and victims of circumstance. The Resettlement Program makes arrangements for the refugee to be met at the airport and begins the process of helping the refugee resettle in their new community,” the website says. [How were these people “refugees?”  They voluntarily left Somalia, perhaps to simply claim they were refugees in order to come here?  Perhaps the intent of at least this one man was jihad mayhem all along?  How many others are there like him?]

Some major US cities are rapidly becoming enclaves of inveterately hostile, unassimilable religious minorities:

Newberry’s dissertation included a case study of the Somali community in Columbus, Ohio, which is a magnet of secondary migration for Somali refugees. The city has the second largest Somali community in the United States, surpassed in size only by that of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Catholic Charities of Dallas adherence to the already far-too-lax law in this one particular case is also open to question:

Breitbart News asked Woodyard if Artan and his family completed the initial domestic medical screening recommended for all refugees within 90 days of their arrival during their brief stay in Dallas, but the voice mail message was not returned.

Breitbart News also asked Woodyard if Artan and his family repaid the promissory note for their air travel from Pakistan to Texas, and asked who paid for the family’s travel and subsequent stay in Ohio. Breitbart received no response to those questions.

Woodyard, a 1982 graduate of Ohio State University, has been CEO of Catholic Charities of Dallas since February of this year.

“Annually in the Resettlement and Placement proposals, VOLAGs report out migration and refugees move for welfare, family and other community connections, jobs, etc,” the attorney familiar with the refugee resettlement program says.

“Could they have had a clan issue in Dallas? Why temporary shelter? That would not be in compliance with the Cooperative Agreement that Catholic Charities signs, unless they knew upon the arrival of Artan and his family  that they were going to move on to another city,” the attorney says.

“Technically, Catholic Charities in Dallas would have received the R&P grant, so did they refund the unused portion of that to the government once the family left? Supposedly the R&P money does not follow the family but the VOLAG in Columbus could still choose to assist the family,” the attorney adds. [So is this how it works – receive in a family you know will quickly relocate to an area with a like-ethnic enclave, but collect extra funds which are provided because it is assumed the family will remain in the originally assigned area for at least some period of time?  Why were none of these questions answered?]

After building the wall, whether literal or figurative (but of similar effectiveness), or right along with it, is seriously reducing if not eliminating immigration from muslim countries. We have the experience of Europe to guide us, allowing this immigration to continue en masse unchecked is simply a recipe of disaster on every level.  This nation’s identity is being erased and remade by a narrow, self-interested elite with sufficient resources to effectively shield themselves from the consequences of their actions.  They get all the “benefits,” be it cheap labor, government money, or that all important leftist virtue signaling, while we, the people, get stuck having to deal with the consequences of their supposedly high-minded policies.  There is simply no reason to flood this country with muslim immigrants when this nation – along with so many others – has repeatedly been the target of religiously motivated attack by these same people, including the worst single-day attack on civilians this nation has ever experienced.

It is insane that our political leaders would consider mass muslim immigration a good thing.  It is a testament to the moral and doctrinal bankruptcy of today’s Amchurch that they would happily glom on.  How many other islamists settled/sponsored by Amchurch will go on to perform religiously motivated terror attacks?

So What Should Be Trump’s Highest Priorities? November 10, 2016

Reader Tim left a good comment that ties in with my post from yesterday.  Clinton’s defeat and Trump’s election (my preference in that order) is not the end of the struggle to right this nation, but the beginning.  We cannot simply conclude our job is done and look for those we have elected to do the work of restoring this nation along at least Constitutional, if not Catholic, lines.  To do so would be blindly foolish, seeing how many victories we have handed Repubniks and how little they have accomplished with all that power.  Many certainly hope Trump will represent a revolution against this failed establishment, but we have seen many well-intentioned people go to DC before him and become corrupted and part of the establishment in no time.

One of the worst tendencies of Christians and conservatives generally is to quit while much work remains to be done.  We do this because we have many other things, better things, God, families, jobs, churches, that need our attention and support.  But the Left never quits.  They don’t quit often because their literal job or career is leftist agitation, but they also don’t do so because their politics is their religion and thus they maintain a religious zeal in the prosecution of their political ends.  I am not saying we should ever emulate leftists in this respect.  But we should remain just as involved and active as we were in September and October, now that the improbable has happened and a possible revolutionary candidate has been elected to the highest office in the land.

We absolutely must hold Trump’s, and the Republican Party’s, feet to the fire on all the issues that matter most to devout souls.  To do that, however, we need to understand what it is we need accomplished, and the relative priority for the many, many things that need to be done to not only help restore this nation along Constitutional lines, but awaken a spiritual revival in its citizens.  To that end, I suggest what I feel should be the highest priorities for both Trump and the Republican Congress to achieve in, if not the first 100 days, at least the first two years in office.  I am recommending specific actions, not general things like “promote Christianity” or whatever, which Trump may not be terribly adept at, anyway.

A few items, off the top of my head:

  1. Nominate a true conservative to replace Anthony Scalia.  Use the nuclear option as required as the dems promised to do if they regained a majority in the Senate, to get this nominee confirmed.  Ted Cruz would be excellent, I believe.  Others from Trump’s September short-list would be fine.  Have a candidate vetted and ready to go to replace Ginsburg should she retire/pass away, too.
  2. Control the Border.  I don’t care if it’s a wall, or a fence, or armed troops with constant UAV overhead, or whatever, but we must reduce illegal immigration by at least an order of magnitude from its current uncontrolled status.  I think a wall is the cheapest, most cost effective way to do this, but I’m open to other, serious suggestions.  One of the first priorities should be to start laying out a design for the wall, acquiring land, and beginning construction well before the mid-terms of 2018.
  3. Repeal the Johnson Amendment: this could be done easily with the Republican majority in Congress.  This could help jump-start the restoration of spiritual ardor of this nation right away, and could turn into a great rallying point for Christians.  The media/left would have a difficult time arguing that churches should not have the same free speech rights as other groups.  Numerous charities already support and oppose candidates by name rather openly, there is no reason churches cannot.  It would also help put more bishops and priests on the spot with regard to undermining of Catholic Doctrine through support of amoral politicians and political parties.
  4. Overturn Obama’s illegal immigration-enabling executive orders. Also, terminate immigration of muslims or at least enormously curtail this.  Give great preference to Christians seeking to immigrate from Middle Eastern countries the policies of his predecessors have destroyed.  This is part of #2, and could really be done from the moment he enters office with the stroke of a pen.  He needs no real political capital to accomplish this.  The Left will scream he’s a racist “islamophobe,” but they’re doing that, anyway.
  5. Also, overturn the policy of reunification for a policy of preferential treatment.  Right now, one member of an immigrant family enters the US deliberately, knowing they will be allowed to bring their entire family along at a later date.  Replace this policy with one favoring skilled individuals willing to inculturate and be a positive contribution to the nation economically, instead of a leach on the too-generous welfare system.
  6. Work to Overturn Obamacare.  As part of this, immediately repeal all aspects of Obamacare that impinge on religious liberty, such as the HHS Mandate. I know scores of people whose private health insurance costs have skyrocketed since Obamacare began, along with reduction in service and huge increases in deductibles.  Our spending on health care has doubled in the past two years, thanks to Obamacare.  Everyone of the several doctors I frequent voted for Trump because they see the destruction Obamacare is causing every day, and how much it’s hurting people.  Here, Trump may not even need to take positive action, simply let it implode of its own accord?
  7. Break Down the Internal Security Apparatus of the “War on Terror.”  Terminate phone data gathering, cell phone intercepts, etc.  Eliminate the costly and useless TSA and replace them with private security as needed at certain airports.  Institute profiling as practiced in Israel and other more sensible nations.
  8. Work to Re-invigorate the US Manufacturing Base. I don’t care if this involves reneging on free trade agreements, instituting tariffs on China and similar unfair competitors (it has been literally insane that we have basically funded China’s rise to great power status through trillions of US dollars sent there via cheap imports), lowering corporate taxes, or what, but a major reason Trump was elected is because non-college educated Americans have been getting pummelled for 20 years, at least, as free trade deals benefit the US Chamber of Commerce and corporate upper management but leave the middle class destitute.  Also take steps to prevent the erosion of white collar professions through limits on H-1B visas and penalizing offshoring of professional jobs and the like.
  9. Implement an across the board and severe cut in the federal bureaucracy, reducing it, on a per capita basis, to year 2000 levels, at least?  If the federal bureaucracy wants to be politicized and act as weapons of a particular party, they can suffer the consequences.
  10. Terminate involvement in endless overseas conflicts and use the savings to help re-capitalize parts of the military or for deficit reduction.  Shift back to a Reagan/Weinberger doctrine of only getting involved in combat if VITAL interests are at stake.  Nation building is not a vital interest of the US, nor are futile efforts to spread democracy across the Mid-East.  Regarding ISIS, I’m agnostic, it is a threat and should be contained, but could this not be accomplished by means other than direct involvement of US combat forces?
  11. Encourage and accomplish Kalifornia’s departure from the union.  Californian leftists (which is the vast majority, they voted for Shillary 2:1.  Without California, Hillary would have lost by nearly 4 million votes) have been making noise that they want to leave the US now that someone distasteful to them is president.  I say, let them go.  That way, we won’t be on the hook to bail out their state government hundreds of billions of dollars in debt.  Sort of a joke.  Or not.

I’m probably missing some obvious ones, which is why I open the floor to you, dear readers.  If even the first five were accomplished it would be an enormous step towards restoring this nation and turning it away from the dystopian, balkanized corporatist-socialist construct the Left has been pointing at for decades.  As for deporting those here illegally, I see no huge urgency in doing so long as we get control of the border!  Once that is accomplished and the crisis is passed, we will be in a much better position to decide how to deal with those millions who have come here illegally already.  As left-wingers are finding out to their dismay, it’s not nearly so easy to immigrate to a socialist paradise like Canada as it is into the US.  We have some of the most lax immigration laws around.

Tell me your ideas!  And how do we insure Trump and the Republican Congress implement them!
