Sorry, I tried to recycle a post from last year, updating dates and changing some other things, and WordPress just completely butchered it. I think it’s fixed now.
I do not believe that St. Maximilian Kolbe’s feast is recognized in the traditional calendar of feasts, not being canonized until 1982, but he is such a powerful Saint and intercessor! I strongly recommend devotion to the Polish German Saint and Martyr. His Feast is August 14. Start your Novena today! Saint Maximilian Kolbe is especially powerful for those struggling with addiction and as a protector of those in pro-life work.
Another suggested intention for this Novena would be to have this great Saint intercede for an end to the sufferings of the Franciscans of the Immaculate, that order founded so strongly on the charism St. Maximilian pioneered. Or at least to allow the intervention to end and for that order to flourish mightily as a result of the sufferings they are enduring.
ST. MAXIMILIAN KOLBE NOVENA PRAYERS
O St. Maximilian Kolbe,
faithful follower of St. Francis,
inflamed by the love of God
you dedicated your life to the practice of virtue
and to works of the apostolate.
Look down with favor upon us
who devoutly confide in your intercession, especially for:
(here mention your special requests)
Having consecrated yourself to the Immaculate Virgin Mary,
you inspired countless souls to a holy life
and various forms of the apostolate
in order to do good to others
and to spread the kingdom of God.
Obtain for us the grace by our lives and labors
to draw many souls to Christ.
In your close conformity to our Divine Savior
you reached such an intense degree of love
that you offered your life to save a fellow prisoner.
Implore God that we,
inflamed by such ardent charity,
may through our living faith and our apostolic works
witness Christ to others,
and thus merit to join you in the blessed vision of God.
Amen.

Today is St. John Vianney’s feast day. (Probably not in the old calendar, it’s on a different date.)
Today is the Feast of Saint Dominic! In the TLM.
St. Maximilian Kolbe, Pray for us! (Though, he wasn’t German 🙂
Thank you for the sentiment, but au contraire, his father was German, hence the German name, and his mother Polish.
