Dolan once again proves himself a huge disappointment September 5, 2014

How did Cardinal Dolan ever acquire a reputation for seeming orthodoxy?  He’s about as orthodox a Catholic as Katherine Jefferts Schori.  And it seems if there is any crowd to be played to, any group to be appeased (save, of course, for faithful Catholics), Dolan is ever ready to surrender to the demands of the world, no matter how craven he appears, no matter how great the scandal he gives, in so doing.  Of course,  his short little Archie Bunker clone attack dog will always be there yipping at his heels a chorus of unwavering if incoherent support. Pathetic:

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade in New York City has finally thrown in the towel and agreed to let gay Irish groups march. The announcement was made yesterday……

……. NY Cardinal Timothy Dolan has agreed to be the Grand Marshal for the 2015 parade.

In recent months, Catholic officials have tried to emphasize the church’s acceptance of gays and lesbians as individuals, while defending the church’s opposition to same-sex marriage. That rhetorical shift has been embraced by Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan, who will serve as grand marshal for the parade next year.

“I have no trouble with the decision at all,” Cardinal Dolan said at an evening news conference announcing his appointment as grand marshal. “I think the decision is a wise one.” [Inviting sodomites to desecrate the Feast of Saint Patrick is “wise,” but defending the rights of those who love the TLM gets one sent out of the country and possibly even out of the priesthood.  We see where this lout stands]

Rorate had a particularly cutting final comment on this disaster:

The current archbishop of New York’s eagerness to please must be the reason why he is constantly the object in Rome, even at the highest possible circles, of the strongest mockery and disdain.

So he can forget about ever being Pope.

Really, the lede’s a misnomer, while many held out hope that Dolan’s (apparently completely fabricated) reputation for orthodoxy would translate into some kind of worthwhile leadership in probably the most visible Archdiocese in the country, those hopes were dashed within months of his taking office.  Not only has he confirmed Governor Andrew Cuomo in his sacrilege and concubinage, not only has he endorsed the radically perverse St. Francis Xavier parish, not only did he give political aid and cover to the most pro-abort US President in history, but he’s also at least threatened, if not outright persecuted, some of the most orthodox priests in the Archdiocese.

Michael Voris has more on this atrocious scandal, if you’re interested:

I don’t see how anyone could conclude he has no chance of being Pope. Given that Francis is now the Pope, anything’s possible I think.

2. Don - September 5, 2014

No US Citizen will likely ever be Pope. When Dolan was appointed here I was ‘meh’ because I recalled some things from him at other stops along the way. Sadly he hasn’t lived up to my lowered expectations.

The photo of him yucking it up with El Jefe at the Al Smith dinner is nauseating.

Monsignor Pope from the Archdiocese of D.C. had much to say about this latest sell out for thirty pieces of silver, and the Archdiocese pulled his piece.

There is no doubt in my mind that Francis would approve of what Dolan is doing. And he [Dolan] knows it.

4. TG - September 5, 2014

I agree with you. I was fooled into thinking he was orthodox too since I saw him on EWTN (an old series that was shown during Lent.) I’ve read comments in various blogs from people in Milwaukee who are not suprised at what he does. Who is the Archie Bunker you’re referring to? His buddy from the Catholic League – Bill Donohue.

Let’s see — Obama at the Al Smith Dinner. Chucking and jivin’ with hey-hey Charlie Rangel, regularly takes out full page paid ads in the New York Times, kissy-face with socialist Mayor DeBlasio, closing Holy Innocents church, total toady for the labor unions (watch tomorrow’s parade), sides with minorities over the police (a bastion of Irish Catholicism), and then, this while in Milwaukee: http://www.novusordowatch.org/cheesehead.htm

I pray devout Catholics make every effort to very publicly boycott the NY St. Patrick’s Day parade and air the great distress this scandal causes the faithful.

As far as Cardinal Dolan, I personally would not under estimate him.

Under Pope Benedict XVI he made some gestures that could be taken as orthodox.

Now he makes gestures that would seem to be aimed at pleasing the heterodox.

I wouldn’t under estimate him.

We need very much to pray for Dolan, keeping in mind that while there is merit in praying for any priest, there is great merit in sacrificing and praying for those that make it difficult.

Did you read Bishop Farrell’s blog today? http://bishopkevinfarrell.org

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God’” (Mt 5:9).

Wish there wasn’t so much negativity associated with different approaches and viewpoints. We all love the Church and loved by the same God. Because I prefer receiving the Eucharist in my palm and have strong affinity for Saint John XXIII and Vatican ii does not make me less Catholic or less worthy of God’s love.

So then Bishop Farrell casts aside his 2008 joint statement with Bishop Vann restating that supporters of abortion receive automatic excommunication? I don’t believe that, but it’s the thrust of your argument.

Certainly blessed are the peacemakers, but just as blessed are those who suffer for righteousness’ sake. This appeal to peace could only be made after the revolution, not before. Then, it was all about dissension, disobedience, and division. But the call to unity has never included or required turning a blind eye to error and the destruction it causes.

Tim Thunell - September 7, 2014

The source of the disunity IS V2 and the avalanche of disaster that it and the Novus Ordo have unleashed. How is sticking to TRUTH and TRADITION cause disunity? We who recognize these problems are morally bound to speak up and call a spade a spade. This bishop should explain how suppression of the Traditional Mass and God’s Own law on these types of matters promotes unity.

c matt - September 8, 2014

Probably in the same way fascism and totalitarianism promote unity.

11. Frank - September 6, 2014

when Cardinal Dolan was first appointed Archbishop of the NY Diocese and made the comment that he would rather be a saint than a Cardinal, it rang false to me because I didn’t see where the two should be mutually exclusive. Now I do. Obviously you can now see which one he has chosen.

Cardinal…. In charge of gay affairs…

12. Brian E. Breslin - September 6, 2014

The very thought came to me, Frank. You said it better than I could. And, TG, I belong to the Catholic League and often think that Donahue can be way over the top and that it seems to be all about Dr. Bill than the defense of Catholicism that Father Blum envisioned.

Methinks the Lady dost protest too much!

It’s difficult in discerning whether Voris is more frustrated with his own latent homosexuality or the inability to get that wig under control.

Tantumblogo - September 8, 2014

Is that really the best you have? Instant ban.

Baseballmom - September 9, 2014

Thank you. Was not sure if you had caught that one…

14. Judy - September 6, 2014

Bishop Farrell lost my support when he decided to stick with the Boy Scouts of America, which has lost 40% of their membership. The bishops chose to ignore Vatican documents which made it clear that the right of homosexuals to not be discriminated against was NOT absolute. Instead they backed themselves up with their own Catechism.
