I’ve written on this subject before, though it’s been some time – basically, there has long existed a marked division among the Texas pro-life movement, the uncompromising, total ban on abortion and other forms of murder position represented by Texas Right to Life, and the much more accommodating stand taken by Texas Alliance for Life.  There are many reasons to view Texas Alliance as weak on key issues, and indeed, most of the most dedicated, most successful pro-life advocates tend to support Texas Right to Life.  During the 2014 legislative session, some acrimonious division developed between Texas Right to Life and the Texas Catholic Conference (TCC), which is the bureaucratic arm of the state’s bishops (like a mini-USCCB).  Dominated by its lay staff and their preferences, including their relations with several prominent Texas lawmakers, TCC at various points supported end-of-life legislation that a number of pro-life advocates believed – I should say proved –  actually worsened the status quo in Texas, and put elderly, the sick, and their families even more at the mercy of doctors and hospitals in making end of life decisions.

So why has Texas Catholic Conference taken the very  unusual step of disavowing, or telling all Catholics in the state to disavow, this most effective pro-life group now?  In a word, politics.  Texas Right to Life, along with a number of other hardcore grass-roots conservatives groups like the Eagle Forum, Concerned Women for America, Texas homeschoolers, and others, have managed to fund a number of “insurgent” campaigns by true, hardcore conservatives against establishment candidates like Angela Paxton.  Early voting is underway for the party primaries, so feeling their establishment buddies under threat, major Texas politicians like Joe Straus – the Speaker of the House, who has done more than anyone to block effective pro-life legislation in this state and who saw Texas’ pro-life ranking drop from #4 to #12 in his 10 year tenure as speaker – are pulling out the stops to try to break the backs of the conservative groups supporting the insurgent candidacies.

We’ve seen this before in this state, where the establishment always favors its own, but not to this degree, and not with a public disavowal of a group whose only “sin”, even by Texas Catholic Conference’s own admission, is to be “too pro-life.”  In point of fact, the very minor pro-life “gains” we have seen in Texas are out of all proportion to the citizenry’s general abhorrence of abortion.  In one of the most conservative states of the union, Texas’ pro-life legislation falls further and further behind, because of the super slow boil establishment approach.

Many Texas Catholics are incensed by what they see as a betrayal of THE most effective, most dedicated pro-life group in the state (which also happens to have the support of the best bishop this state has seen in 50+ years, Bishop Emeritus Rene Gracida of Corpus Christi, who now offers the TLM more or less exclusively).

If you want more on the inside baseball of Texas politics and how this very sad abandonment of a great pro-life group9 came to pass, read the below from Church Militant, which……..yeah, I know, but just roll with it:

The bishops’ denouncement of Texas Right to Life comes in the wake of a split looming inside the Texas Republican Party — a winnowing of the conservative wheat from the Establishment chaff. Internal polling indicates Lone Star State RINOs are facing extinction in the upcoming elections, and political insiders believe the bishops’ “advisory” is a ploy to save their political hides. By demonizing Texas Right to Life, they suggest, the bishops hope to preserve their political allies in office.

According to their “advisory,” the bishops are spurning Texas Right to Life for three reasons:

  1. Conflicts on pro-life reform. The bishops complained the group “often opposes the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops and has implied that the bishops do not faithfully represent Church teaching.” Texas Right to Life rejects the bishops’ “incrementalism” as a halting, soft approach.
  2. Conflicts on end-of-life reform. The bishops slammed Texas Right to Life’s messaging on end-of-life care and advance directives as “misstatements.”
  3. Texas Right to Life’s voter guide. The group publishes an annual voter guide scoring Texas lawmakers according to their pro-life record. The bishops have denounced the guide as built on unfair analysis, and they maintain “a number of legislators who have consistently voted for pro-life and end of life legislation have been opposed by Texas Right to Life.”

This isn’t the first time Texas Right to Life has run afoul of the Church Establishment. In 2013, Jeffrey Patterson, executive director of the Texas Catholic Conference, wrote to state Representative Dan Huberty on behalf of the bishops, blasting Texas Right to Life’s voter guide as “unconventional,” “subjective” and producing “perplexing results.” He complained that the voter guide assigned low scores to “pro-life lawmakers who have worked long and hard to protect and preserve life.”

But Republican lawmakers like Byron Cook and Joseph Straus, key leaders of the Texas GOP Establishment, have been criticized by Texas Right to Life for obstructing pro-life laws.

As Church Militant reported in October 2017, “Cook, as the chairman of the Texas House State Affairs Committee, has worked overtime to block pro-life legislation from being passed in the Texas legislature despite claiming to be pro-life.” For example, he killed HB1113, the Pro-Life Health Insurance Reform, which would prohibit insurance companies from paying for elective abortions.

The pro-life bills Cook did support were considered “weak” and “fake” by Texas Right to Life — “ineffective or non-priority” measures that were actually “detrimental to the pro-life movement.”

Straus, meanwhile, as Speaker of the House, “put a sudden end to a special legislative session” that Gov. Greg Abbott had called in order to address important bills Establishment Republicans ignored during the 2016–17 regular session.

Just because, fearing losing a primary election, Straus and Cook are no longer seeking another term, does not mean that the establishment is broken or disorganized. As we see, they are still plenty powerful.

I do wonder the degree to which the 13 bishops who ostensibly make up TCC are involved in this, and the degree to which it comes from the lay bureaucrats who run TCC on a day to day basis?

If you want to read the TCC declaration, here it is—>>>02-2018_TRTL_parish_advisory

Some folks are planning to walk out if the announcement is read in their parish during Mass this Sunday. I don’t think I’m going to have to worry about that.

I am saddened and shocked at this turn of events.  There was no need for such an absolutist position from TCC against TRL – the two have worked together at many points in the past.  Why now, of all times, this matter had to be brought to the fore is incomprehensible for reasons of doctrine or importance to souls.  It very much appears to be doing what their political allies in Austin want the TCC to do, which is to try to remove a troublesome thorn from the establishcrats side.  To Bishop Olson – dude, I’ve defended you in the past, but you got to get a hold of your temper.   There are fights that are optional, and fights that are mandatory, and fights that one should never get in, and this is one of those.

Francis to Canonize Paul VI, and Thus, Try to Canonize Vatican II February 22, 2018

Michael Matt is severely critical of this move below, and asks the question on many Catholics minds – certainly, given the former rigor of the pre-1983 canonization process, when the role of devil’s advocate was taken away, canonizations were always viewed as an infallible act of the Church’s Magisterium.  But that very dogmatic definition depended greatly on the former process of canonization, and the office of devil’s advocate was an instrumental part of that process.  Since John Paul II had that office abolished, the process has been massively changed, and so does the same doctrinal authority still hold?  It’s not an unreasonable question, and it is addressed by Charles Coulombe in the 2nd video below:

These are two well formed, learned men, and they arrive at somewhat different conclusions, I think – Matt seems much more doubtful of the post-1983 canonization process and especially the canonization of Paul VI (what happened to the damning documentation the Cure of Nantes had when we died?), whereas Coulombe seems skeptical and leaves room open for doubting the infallibility of the new process, but seems to lean towards it still being infallible.

Once again, the faithful, in this time of unprecedented doctrinal chaos in the highest echelons of the Church, where high authorities literally contradict one another on matters of grave import, the faithful are left to largely fend for themselves and make their way as best they can in this new revolutionary post-conciliar situation we’re in.  Because of that, I’m fairly agnostic on where one winds up on either side of these kinds of difficult to resolve issues.

That’s speaking generally, but as for me, as Rorate notes, it is very difficult for a faithful soul who loves the Church, or tries to love the Church while being  uncertain just what that massively important word means anymore, to see the destruction wrought by Paul VI and think “now there’s a man worthy of canonization.”  I’m fairly reticent to get enthusiastic about John Paul II’s canonization, as well, not least of which because I think it more than a bit unseemly for the man who radically changed the process of canonization to directly benefit from that process, but much more so because he appointed thousands of modernist bishops and basically had the ability to reverse many of the worst aspects of at least the “spirit of Vatican II,” but chose not to, and in many fundamental ways helped cement that spirit much more firmly into place.

But Paul VI is infinitely more concerning than John Paul II – not only was he the pope that gave the whip hand to the modernists at Vatican II, not only did he impose the new Mass in the most draconian and uncharitable manner possible, and not only did he attempt to abrogate the TLM without justification or, as Benedict XVI proclaimed, even an ability to do so, but the very persistent allegations regarding an amoral personal life and his being blackmailed by modernist/sodomite actors in the Church have been disturbingly numerous, persistent, and detailed for my taste.  These latter may be false, but if there is even a chance that they be true, how much (more) damage will be done should evidence emerge that the recently canonized “Saint Paul VI” in fact carried on a number of sodomitical acts over his life?

Then there is this final factor – what if the critics are right, and the process changed by John Paul II is no longer infallible?  What if these men are not saints? By being declared so, that terminates all prayers on their behalf.  This is all so politicized and wrapped up in what one thinks of the Council, for or against, and the canonizations are coming with such urgency, so much faster than they used to in the past (and involve so much hype and hoopla) that it is very hard to analyze the matter dispassionately.  I really think the best course would be to put an informal ad hoc ban on canonization of popes for at least a century after their death – which is something the Church used to practice just as a matter of course, on almost all Saints, the thinking being that to really determine whether one was a Saint or not, a lot of time had to pass, as did most everyone who was alive during the Saint’s time, and analyze the matter dispassionately and with fairness and rigor.  That is not at all what is occurring here, and represents, again, another major change to the process that could affect its infallibility.

It’s all a bit too much for me to figure out.  Francis can do what he wants, but so can I.  I won’t be directing many requests for intercession towards Paul VI.  I’ll stick to the more established and less controversial Saints.

Latest Atrocities Regarding Francis of Rome – Corrupt Donation, Seeking to Sack Raymond Arroyo February 21, 2018

A couple of recent items regarding the man inexplicably elected pope in 2013, Jorge Bergoglio.  One involves a massive and unusual donation from a US source to a corrupt Italian hospital apparently made at the pope’s direct request, and the other is the working out of a personal vendetta by one of the closest of Francis’ advisers (Anthony Spadaro, SJ) against an unlikely target – Raymond Arroyo of EWTN News, who has, it must be said, been quite willing to air negative opinions regarding Francis and his pontificate over the past several years, and especially the disastrous papal document Amoris Laetitia, apparently ghost-written by Spadaro himself.  Spadaro has been waging a PR campaign to have Arroyo fired, and now wants EWTN anathematized, an action which would surely scandalize and anger millions of the few remaining faithful American Catholics (not to mention being incredibly hypocritical, seeing how much heresy and error is tolerated and even promoted by this pontificate).

First on the donation, from LifeSiteNews and with additional commentary by Bishop Gracida:

Leaked documents obtained by LifeSiteNews connect the Pope himself to a new Vatican financial scandal and raise serious questions about his global reputation as the “pope for the poor.”

LifeSiteNews has obtained internal documents of the U.S.-based Papal Foundation, a charity with a stellar history of assisting the world’s poor, showing that last summer the Pope personally requested, and obtained in part, a $25 million grant to a corruption-plagued, Church-owned dermatological hospital in Rome accused of money laundering. Records from the financial police indicate the hospital has liabilities over one billion USD – an amount larger than the national debt of some 20 nations.

The grant has lay members of the Papal Foundation up in arms, and some tendering resignations. Responding to questions from LifeSiteNews, Papal Foundation staff sent a statement saying that it is not their practice to comment on individual requests………

………However, the majority of the board is composed of U.S. bishops, including every U.S. Cardinal living in America. The foundation customarily gives grants of $200,000 or less to organizations in the developing world (see a grant list for 2017 here) via the Holy See.

According to the internal documents, the Pope made the request for the massive grant, which is 100 times larger than its normal grants, through Papal Foundation board chairman Cardinal Donald Wuerl in the summer of 2017.

Despite opposition from the lay “stewards,” the bishops on the board voted in December to send an $8 million payment to the Holy See. In January, the documents reveal, lay members raised alarm about what they consider a gross misuse of their funds, but despite their protests another $5 million was sent with Cardinal Wuerl brooking no dissent. [Clouds of intrigue and immorality have swirled around Cardinal Wuerl for decades]……..

…………The lay members of the board have good reason to be concerned about the supposed recipient of their generosity. Pope Francis asked for the funds to be directed to the Istituto Dermopatico dell’Immacolata (IDI), a dermatological hospital in Rome that has been plagued with corruption and financial scandal for years.

On May 15, 2013, ANSA, the leading news wire in Italy, reported “police confiscated over six million euros worth of property and bank accounts as part of investigations into alleged corruption at the Italian hospital group Istituto Dermopatico dell’Immacolata (IDI).”

The news of Vatican financial corruption connected to the IDI hit international headlines in 2015 with a June 20 Reuters article showing the Italian magistrates suspected Vatican Cardinal Giuseppe Versaldi diverted 30 million euros destined for a Church-owned children’s hospital to the Church-owned IDI.

Another ANSA piece from 2016 reported, “Finance police discovered IDI was 845 million euros in the red and 450 million euros in tax evasion while 82 million euros had been diverted and six million euros in public funds embezzled.”

In May 2017, La Repubblica – the only newspaper Pope Francis says he reads – reported on court rulings revolving around the IDI detailing twenty-four indictments, leading to a dozen convictions, some of which carried over three years in prison. The court recognized the evidence from the financial police including “about 845 million euros in balance sheet liabilities and over 82 million in diverted funds, plus the undue use of another 6 million public funds.”………

So it seems a typically corrupt Italian enterprise.  Why would the pope demand a $25 million donation from an unusual source, one that typically gives donations orders of magnitude smaller and typically only in third world countries mired in extreme poverty?  It seems the cardinals on the board – which does not include Raymond Burke, since he does not reside in the US – pushed this donation through over the objections of the lay people who both fund and partially direct it (with final determinations being made by the cardinals, when they see fit to exercise their authority).

Bishop Gracida adds more, reminding us of other financial scandals:

First, what happened to the $140,000,000 left to the Knights of Malta which led Francis to fire Cardinal Burke as the Cardinal Protector of the Knights and to fire the Supreme Knight and to replace him with one of the Friends of Francis.

Second, was Francis involved in the ‘loan’ of $400,000 to Cardinal Sodano for the ‘remodeling’ of his apartment.  A loan made by the Bambino Children’s Hospital in Rome.  Was the money passed through the Hospital in a money laundering operation?  The Italian Government thinks it was and has launched an investigation,   the results of which will probably never be made public.

Cardinal Sodano is Borgia-esque in his personal corruption and immorality.  Benedict XVI spent years trying to drive him from the Vatican and finally succeeded, only to have Sodano – probably – play a role in his downfall through the manipulation of Vatican accounts and the Italian government.  Rorate Caeli has hinted for years there is much to be found in investigating the St. Gallen group, the Vatican bank “scandal,” and Benedict’s abdication and Francis’ subsequent election, but has remained mum on the details.  Apparently there is some connection between Sodano, money laundering, the St. Gallen group, and Francis.  Thus, the Leftist Catholic, the self-mortifying friend of the little man, always concerned about the poor and always living a penniless ascetic existence.  Not.

Onto Spadaro’s patent vendetta, as I said above, he seeks to have Arroyo fired, for criticizing himself, Francis, and Amoris Laetitia – if they do not, he calls for them to be interdicted and shut down:

Papal confidante Father Antonio Spadaro retweeted a call for EWTN to be severely censured “until they get rid of Raymond Arroyo.”

The call for an “interdict” to be imposed on the Catholic media empire started by Mother Angelica came from Anthony Annett, Assistant to the Director at the International Monetary Fund’s Communications Department[This is a rather odd matter for a major figure at the IMF to comment on, is it not?  Notice the connection to the worldwide financial network, however, along with the revelations above]

An interdict is essentially one step short of excommunication. It bans a person or people from accessing most Church Sacraments.

Annett called for an interdict to be imposed on EWTN because of a February 15 World Over segment.

“Make no mistake,” tweeted Annett, the show’s discussion of a recent Spadaro speech and ultra-liberal Cardinal Blase Cupich “represent ‘total war’ on the papacy of Pope Francis.”……..

………..Spadaro, a Jesuit who is often called the pope’s “mouthpiece,” frequently criticizes critics of Amoris Laetitia’s ambiguity or the Francis pontificate. He is the editor-in-chief of La Civiltà Cattolica[Well, he would lash out at critics of Amoris Laetitia, since he wrote it.]

Here is the world over segment, which discussed Francis’ plan to support Leftism worldwide and give a massive rebuke and infinite wound to the faithful souls of China’s underground Church, who have labored under the most severe persecution for decades, by sacking all the faithfully consecrated bishops and priests and substituting them with those approved by the communist government in Beijing (segment starts at 6:47):

The Vatican’s “diplomacy” regarding the Church in China is something I hope to write about soon.  It is an unspeakable betrayal and something that is unjustifiable and frankly even rises to the level of sin, I would argue.  I have long been a supporter and advocate for the Cardinal Kung Foundation, which helps the true Church in China survive by financial and other means.  They have been covering this seductive dance between the Chicoms and Francis’ pontificate for  years, and have rightly prognosticated that Francis seeks to sell out the Church in China.

This betrayal involves no concrete reward to the Church or souls, but only an ideological victory for Francis and his allies in removing a thorn from the side of fellow Leftists around the world, in this case, China.  Unbelievable, but hardly surprising.

Spadaro is essentially Francis’ mouthpiece, so when he exalts Francis as being “light years ahead” of basically every non-communist-appeasing person on the planet, we know what the Pope of Humility thinks of himself.  He’s so far above us peons that we don’t even register on his radar.

And this is the Vatican that has Cardinal Secretaries hosting cocaine-fueled sodomite orgies directly adjacent to St. Peters.  This is their vision for the Church.  It is always sin that drives heresy, and generally sins of the flesh, though those of love of money also often figure in.  These things are all tied together.

Teach the Children Hell: Leftists Co-opt Traumatized Students to Advance Anti-Gun Agenda February 21, 2018

The Left has tried a new and seemingly effective tactic in their effort to totally disarm the entire law-abiding US population – co-opt children ostensibly traumatized by a recent attack (this one from generally liberal South Florida) into forcing weak-willed Republicrat politicians into a corner, forcing them to do something, anything to “stop the violence.”  How about the FBI responding to multiple tips (by name), and local mental health authorities not shirking their duties?  Nah, that’s too easy, and more importantly, doesn’t advance the agenda.

So now Trump is apparently going to advocate banning bump stocks, though those had naught to do with the Parkland, Fl shooting, and possibly raising the age of legal ownership for AR-15 type rifles from 18 to 21.  Because it’s fine to use an AR-15 type to die for your country at 18, but not for you to own one legally.

Ben Shapiro covers the Left’s very coordinated and, it seems, effective efforts below.  Gee, as well coached as these kids obviously are, one might almost wonder if the whole thing was at least allowed to happen, in order to serve a “greater” cause:

While not contained in the quotes included by Shapiro above, these kids have taken a nakedly partisan tack in response to this shooting, openly excoriating Trump and Republicans generally while showing great warmth and support towards demonrats and especially the far Left wing of that party.  In fact, it appears to me that these youths are very callously using the deaths of their fellow students as simply an opportunity to advance a policy position they have long preferred – using the logical fallacy of shroud waving in a despicable way to ban evil guns, rather than take action against the people who perpetrate acts of evil, or demanding the government hold accountable those who very apparently allowed this atrocity to take place.

Note the very deliberate F-U to the pro-life movement, commonly associated with the Right politically and, thus, support for relatively unrestricted private gun ownership, in calling this the “March for Our Lives.”  These shrill kids are obviously being coached, and Ace notes that the leftist media seems to be doing much of the coaching, with talking points going from statist media one minute and out of the mouths of these kids the next:

See Sexton’s post: He makes an interesting catch. CNN runs gun control talking points as “news,” then these same talking points make it into the mouths of the Child Crusaders, and then CNN now runs the Children Crusaders repeating CNN’s talking points as new news, this time out of the mouths of babes.

As Steven Crowder notes below, so-called assault weapons like the AR-15 are rarely used in these mass shootings, and are responsible for only a very small portion of murders involving a firearm on an annual basis.  So once again we see the prevaricating bait and switch of the Left, this time coming from children attempting to capitalize on the deaths of their deceased comrades (demonstrating the degree to which leftism corrupts even at a very early age), where they talk about banning or limiting one type of gun, but what they really mean, and intend to achieve, is a near total ban on private ownership of firearms a la Britain – where, incidentally, the murder rate has skyrocketed SINCE firearms were made very difficult for civilians to own:

I know some see me as a hard-hearted Pharasaical jerk, and I’m about to confirm that notion again, but these kids earn no sympathy from me.  As noted below, they are wholly ignorant of the issues at hand, hold very widespread false beliefs (propagated by their leftist media allies) regarding firearms (guns can be bought with no ID, no background check, minors can purchase “automatic weapons” with no problem, automatic weapons are easier to buy that setting up a social media account, etc, etc), and are essentially demanding the nation, and thus millions of law-abiding, hard-working, family-protecting gun-owning citizens turn over the nation’s firearms policy to a bunch of indoctrinated, uneducated, politicized children on the basis of having ostensibly experienced some trauma.  Actually, I should say correctly, they had my sympathy, but these obvious political agents of the Left have completely and irrevocably lost it, as they seek to hijack a tragedy for their own personal benefit and the direct personal harm of me and my family (that is, to take away my wife and I’s ability to protect each other and our children).  And in the meantime, they intend to usurp a right given by God and recognized by the Constitution for tens of millions of taxpaying, law-abiding Americans.  My only response to them is, go frank yourselves and if you want to live in a left wing gun regulated paradise, enjoy your stay in Mexico, where the murder rate is nearly an order of magnitude higher than it is in the US in spite of extremely rigid firearms laws.

As Dr. Peterson says, when you’re 15 or 18 or 20 you don’t know anything, haven’t accomplished a thing, and need to get your own life in order before you lecture the world on all its faults. You don’t even make serious proposals, you just rant against conservatives, Republicans, and the “older generations.”

Unfortunately, the Left may have pulled a coup in drawing children into this debate, since few politicians want to be seen as standing on the side of putting children in harm’s way, even if that characterization is manifestly false, banning guns is not the way to achieve that safety, and there are many other ways to improve the safety of children in government-run taxpayer funded schools leftist indoctrination camp. But that’s where we’re at, and if you want a bump stock, I suggest you buy one now.

And maybe rekindle that interest in acquiring firearms that mysteriously disappeared once the Obamanation left office. At the least, prices will probably be going back up, so now is the time to buy.  There are some very good deals to be had out there now, at least compared to the last 8 years when the threat of Obama prompted millions to purchase tens of millions of guns (BTW, a recent study concluded that there are not 300 million firearms in private possession in the US, but upwards of 650 million!).  Yeah, good luck confiscating all those.

In closing, I’d  just like to add, when will people stop giving their money and time to CNN, ABC, CBS, and all these other naked organs of leftist propaganda, so that the whole bloody business will collapse and go away?  Even many conservatives, especially older conservatives, continue to get most of their information from the lamestream media, even though they know the information conveyed is often very biased, missing key nuance/exculpatory evidence, or just plain false.  Stop watching them!  They are already dying, but a concerted effort will help hasten that end.  Unfortunately the politicians, especially at the federal level, continue to treat the statist media as the gold standard, so they are inordinately influenced by what some agenda-driven jaded teen says to 300,000 people on CNN, and ignore what Steven Crowder or Ben Shapiro say to 3,000,000 people on Facebook and Youtube.

As for the post title, you know the old dumb hippie song “Teach, the children well?”………..there you go.

So It’s Pretty Much Obvious at This Point that Representative Democracy in the USA Is Dead February 6, 2018

I know some, perhaps most, readers have believed that what we have all been sold as “democracy,” or a representative republic where the “will of the people” is expressed, at least generally, in broad strokes, by their elected leaders at the national level, has been dead for decades.  Pick your date for when it died – Marbury vs. Madison, the Civil War, the 16th Amendment, direct election of Senators, the assassination of JFK, the lies perpetrated by the intelligence apparatus to suck us into the Iraq War……whatever – the point is, many of you have been onto the fact that this thing we have been very deliberately and carefully propagandized to believe – that we have some say (again, at the national level particularly) in how we are ruled (not governed) – is a farce.  It hasn’t been true in a very long time.

I don’t mean to sound defeatist, unpatriotic, or, God forbid, like a carping leftist, but if the revelations of the mammoth, ongoing, unrepentant, largely unreported Deep State conspiracies against Donald Trump, and, more particularly, those who elected him, have shown us anything, it is that somehow, over the past few decades (I think it’s mostly occurred in my lifetime), a deeply entrenched unelected unaccountable cabal has taken over the reins of power in this country, particularly at the national level but depending on where you live all the way down to the most local level, and that democracy, or republicanism, as we have all been taught to believe, is a crock.

This cabal consists of deeply embedded, careerist bureaucrats in the government, the academic environment from which they derive their sacred credentials which they purport makes them fit to rule over others, and a media which has become wholly ideological and uncaring about having even a semblance of impartial coverage.  It is deeply classist and thoroughly bourgeois. Indeed, that is their primary objection to Trump and his supporters, that they are so working class, so often Christian, so rough and tumble, so politically incorrect (and thus heretics against their new, self-made, godless and God-hating religion) and just so gauche.

This coalition of the unworthy, this cadre of self-anointed leftists, has grown unchecked in power and influence over the past 50 years irrespective of which party is in office.  Well intentioned fool Bush ’43, however, did a very great deal to make their hold on power unshakable through the the “PATRIOT Act” and unaccountable, secretive courts and apparatus that have been, and will continue to be, ranged against the people of this country not in pursuit of national defense, but in pursuit of naked partisanism and self-aggrandizement.

We are confronted in these present days with a scandal that utterly dwarfs the defining political scandal of the past 3 generations (at least) – Watergate – in which a democrat administration and a democrat political campaign found eager partners in the intelligence and federal law enforcement bureaucracies in order to try to destroy the reputation of the Republican candidate and so swing the election to Hillary Clinton. Even after this effort failed and Trump won, the democrats and their media allies have waged an utterly unprecedented and unconstitutional (as if that matters anymore) campaign to have a sitting president accused of committing some crime, any crime, even (or especially) if it is not an actual crime, in order to drive him from office.

And the media, an absolutely vital component in the system of checks and balances envisioned by the Founding Fathers, has gone over wholly into this same obvious partisanship and absolute contempt for decency, fair play, or anything remotely resembling balance.  Indeed, the relations between the media, academy, infotainment complex, and government agencies is as incestuous as it is corrupt.  All of these entities have a huge stake in seeing the current system continue to grow in wealth and power, no matter the consequences for the “little people” who are being crushed through their avarice.  No, that’s wrong……crushing the little people is indeed the point, as this cabal seeks to create a new peasant class and a new aristocracy.

That this cabal is also entirely leftist and filled with loathing for this nation as founded, all non-leftists, and especially those who believe in God and adhere to traditional morality is simply the glue that holds the entire unholy enterprise together.

I’m ranting, but I think we good cause.  I have listened to hours of media coverage try to pretend that a government conspiracy to destroy a major party presidential candidate (and now president) is of absolutely no consequence, and in fact, that it is the Republicans who are damaging the Constitution and endangering the Republic.  The unmitigated gall…….but as I’ve said before, if you want to know exactly what evils leftists are guilty of, see what they accuse their opponents of.

If you’re looking for specific reasons why I am so outraged and ranting like this, here are but a few: the US in danger of becoming East Germany, intelligence services threaten to stop even their current, feckless, recalcitrant “cooperation” with Congress in overseeing their activities, and switch to outright adversarial obstructionism, if Congress does not stop investigating their unconstitutional and tyrannical activities, the failure to send even ONE IRS or other federal gov’t employee to prison after illegally persecuting “TEA party” groups in 2011-2, the fact that Robert Mueller’s witch hunt is still ongoing after the basis for it has been shown repeatedly to be not just false, but an entirely partisan hit piece………I could go on for ages.  It’s not just where we’re at, it’s where we are so manifestly headed.  As this piece notes:

…Kamala Harris tried to imprison pro-life journalists for probing Planned Parenthood. Now she’s a U.S. senator, whom some think should run for president. What would President Harris’ FBI look like? A lot more like the Stasi than we would like to admit.

More than likely, the best that we can hope for is that Trump will not be wounded politically by all these efforts, but may even get a slight bump.  But given what we’ve witnessed in these last 5-6 years of ugly, self-serving, Chicago machine-style rule, there is absolutely zero chance that any of the major players in this attempt to destroy a properly elected Republican administration will even be convicted of a crime, let alone serve any jail time (which, manifestly, numerous people, from Lois Lerner to James Comey to Strozk and these many other characters should).  The law, the ever-multiplying rules and regulations they impose on  us, are for the little people.  The elite, the connected, the self-anointed (always holding the correct, changing-by-the-minute leftist politically correct beliefs) are above such things.

The question is, how much longer are we not just going to take it, but continue to pay for the privilege through our obsequious submission to taxation and and other means of control?

The other question is, many traditional Catholics would argue that what we are seeing now is the inevitable end state of a democracy.  All previous “experiments” in democracy have failed.  Are we doomed to repeat the experience, and must it lead to civil war and cultural collapse, as it so often has in the past?

What should we, as Catholics, advocate for, in terms of politics, if anything?  Is it better to just try to ride out the calamity, doing the best we can for our family and other loved ones, and let the chips fall where they may?  Is there a point in engaging in this system anymore, or should we only advocate for some radical alternative, whatever it may be?

The rumors have been that Planned Butcherhood is about to get hit with a number of federal charges/indictments, and that some of those might name apparently departing Planned Parenthood head Cecile Richards personally.  She got out while the gettin’ was good.  Whenever one of these ambitious, wholly ideological creatures says “time with the family” or “other projects,” it means it was forced in one way or another.  These people never voluntarily step down from their positions of power and influence.  To the idea that she means to run for governor of Texas – yeah, good luck with that.

Anyway, by deliberate act, she participated in the murder of over 3.5 million babies.  That makes her one of histories greatest monsters:

The President of America’s largest abortion chain Planned Parenthood, Cecile Richards, plans to resign next week, according to a Buzzfeed report that cited “two sources familiar with the matter.”

A Planned Parenthood representative told Buzzfeed, “Cecile plans to discuss 2018 and the next steps for Planned Parenthood’s future at the upcoming board meeting.”

“The Planned Parenthood official did not comment on Richards’ future,” Buzzfeed reported, even though “Richards, 60, has informed at least some members of the organization’s board of directors [that she is leaving], one of the sources confirmed.”

Richards has overseen America’s largest abortion vendor since 2006. Her salary continually increased as did her tenure. She currently rakes in nearly a million dollars a year overseeing the organization that commits over 300,000 abortions annually. [$3 a head.  What a bargain.]

During the Obama era, the abortion business had an ally in the White House. However, Richards still had to contend with investigations from Live Action and the Center for Medical Progress (CMP) that revealed Planned Parenthood’s willingness to cover up child sex abuseaid-and-abet sex traffickers, and profit from selling body parts of aborted babies. [Abortionists cover up sex abuse?  How else do the abusers get rid of the evidence?  I mean, c’mon people!  This is current year!  What else are they going to do with it?!?  It’s not like selling babies into white slavery in Qatar or Brunei is easy these days!]

Since President Trump took office, Planned Parenthood has increasingly sounded the alarm about the threat he and other pro-life Republicans pose to abortion-on-demand.

“Cecile Richards was the most devoted practitioner of Planned Parenthood’s ‘out of sight, out of mind’ mantra to cover up their barbaric abortion business from the public,” David Daleiden of CMP told LifeSiteNews. “As Planned Parenthood faces federal criminal investigation from the FBI and DOJ for selling aborted baby hearts, lungs, livers, and brains, Richards’ departure shows that the old strategy is no longer working – the secret is out that Planned Parenthood is a taxpayer-sponsored crime syndicate of industrial-scale child killing, and even Cecile Richards can no longer put a friendly spin on it.” [Awesome quote]

“Cecile Richards may be stepping down because Planned Parenthood is under investigation for illegally trafficking in aborted baby body parts and other crimes,” Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue, told LifeSiteNews. “She may be trying to get out before indictments drop. She is also tainted with other scandals by her close affiliation with Hillary Clinton and Fusion GPS, which are also being investigated. Planned Parenthood may now view her as a liability.”

“In any case, this news indicates a destabilized Planned Parenthood organization, and as long as they are in disarray, they can’t expand their abortion enterprise, and that is good news,” said Newman.

So for the greatest killers of the last 120 years, Cecile Richards has passed fellow leftist Pol Pot and is up there in Hitler territory.  She’s a piker compared to the greatest leftist murderers of all time, though – Stalin and his 50 million, and Mao with his 100 million plus.

It’s almost like this ideology is the literal inversion of all that is good and true and brings with it nothing but endless, hellish death.  But it’s the official ideology of probably 95% of all the college professors in this country and throughout the West.  Could a hundred thousand academics really be this wrong?

And you want to pay them $50,000 a year for the privilege of indoctrinating your children in this most beastly of ideologies?  Of course, there are ways around this, it’s not a blanket condemnation of sending any kids to any college, but it is meant to be a provocative challenge – are you really thinking about what you’re doing?  And are you doing it for them, or for yourself? I knew a family, an outwardly good, seemingly Catholic family, that refused to believe that Notre Dame University was anything but the be all and end all of Catholicism, and the absolute best place to send their kids to college after going through the incredible sacrifice of homeschooling all of them.  They had 5 kids.  They sent four of them to Notre Dame.  Every single one has fallen away from the Faith. and not in a low key, but a spectacular manner.    They’re not just cold to the Faith, they are positively hostile.  The last kid, the youngest, was lucky.  He didn’t have the grades for Notre Dame. So he’s going to a local community college, and is still Catholic.

I bring up this bit about college because Leftism is an all-pervading ideology with a thousand facets and a million ways to kill a soul.  It’s also the dominant culture in our media-numbed society.  Leftism always ends in death.  Sometimes its the death of millions of babies, other times it’s the death of faith in millions of souls, but it always brings death with it, because it’s not just a creation of fallen men, but it was contrived as a deliberate antithesis to Christianity and godliness.  It’s the tempting alternative to a moral, godly life.  It’s presented as bright and shiny, intelligent and popular, urbane and sophisticated, the default belief set for anyone who wants to be anybody in this world.

But this is what it really is:

For the squeamish, frankly, I could have shown much, much worse.  This is who Cecile Richards is, and what she promotes.  May God have mercy on her soul, and may she convert before it is too late.

This is the upside down, inside out, black is white world we live in, shaped by dystopian leftist views and mores for decades now.  Just a few decades ago, having a large family was seen at least as a neutral thing, and generally was viewed positively, as a sign of blessing.  Certainly, there have been misanthropes for decades, often liberal protestant types, who in the 20th century coalesced around the suffrage movement and radical social theories (like eugenics) to first start to push the notion that people = bad.  But at the time, those people were generally extremist nuts.  Nowadays, the default view by the typically childless “elites” is that children = bad, a drag, an endless source of carbon emissions, while they happily plan on collecting the Social Security checks and other benefits the children of others, the children they could never be bothered to have, will provide.

It’s a sick, sick, sick, sick world:

Fans of “Fixer Upper” no doubt have heard that stars Chip and Joanna Gaines have announced they’re having a fifth child.  Feminist commentator Kristen Pyszczyk does not approve.

“Procreation is becoming a global public health concern, rather than a personal decision. So when people do irresponsible things like having five children, we absolutely need to be calling them out.” [Actually, low birth rates are leading to massive social disruption and economic decline.  Japan’s economy has been in a zero growth recession for exactly as long as its birth rate has been less than replacement rate.  Europe is being remade due to the necessity of having to import millions of largely muslim immigrants to replace the babies they never had.  And the US would be experiencing a population decline, due to our lower-than-replacement native-born birth rate, and much of the poor economic performance of the last 45 years can be attributed to lack of population growth.  All the bases upon which the population explosion belief are grounded are utterly false.  But it’s a religious conviction with these people, so no amount of logic matters.]

While having a child or five is a very personal choice, it’s also a choice that affects everyone who inhabits our planet. So while many people might find the backlash unwarranted, it’s actually a conversation we need to have in order to challenge our uncritical acceptance of the life-fulfillment-through-procreation story. [That’s a massive assumption – that this well known couple has a larger than average number of kids out of some selfish desire for personal fulfillment. There are surely numerous reasons why they have 5 kids, but knowing their (protestant) Christian convictions, obeying God’s call to be fruitful and multiply is probably foremost.  Notice that feminists are all about “choice” when it comes to killing babies, but not when having them.  Reveal much?]

Now, as a feminist, I tend to oppose any cultural conversation that involves telling a woman what to do with her body. But women have long been told that they need to have kids to have a meaningful life, and they are groomed for motherhood from a very early age. [So let me make a totally unsupported assumption about you, Joanna Gaines – I imagine, transplanting the feminist critic’s selfish outlook into this unwitting recipient – and then launch on a rant, which just happens to perfectly correspond to my already held convictions, about how having lots of kids in order to “fulfill oneself” is horribly, horribly selfish.  And yet, which type is more in the solipsistic “Eat, Pray, Love” crowd – feminists, or devout Christians?”]

But we don’t often hear arguments for alternatives to motherhood. Women need to be presented with options for a fulfilling life that don’t involve taking 20 years of their lives to care for offspring. Changing the narrative around motherhood should help to offset some of the cultural conditioning we receive throughout our lives. [The eternal selfishness of the feminist mind is on stark display here.  There is more than a slight whiff of “doth protest too much” in this tawdry critique.   Unhappy with your life choices?  Find being used as a receptacle by unworthy men a bit more empty than empowering?  Taking it out on someone else may make you feel better for a few minutes, but cats are no substitute for children and grandchildren.]

Note the paradox – not having children is the key to humanity’s survival.  What she means is, “I demand the power, for myself and fellow travelers, to decide for others how many children they are allowed to have, at what time, and under what circumstances.  You see, like the endlessly evil and personally immoral Margaret Sanger, I believe only the right kind of people should be allowed to have children. Holding this view is a testament to my immense virtue and a sure signal of how much better I am than you, the grunting, rutting hoi polloi.”

Thus, our self-anointed “elites.”

Congratulations to the Gaines on their expectant arrival.

Cardinal Rodriguez Maradiaga – Poverty for Thee, but Not for Me (or my boyfriends) January 17, 2018

This news is almost a month old, but I think the implications are plain – once again, a leftist ecclesiastic demanding a “poorer church,” a “church of accompaniment” – has been found personally enriching himself at Church expense.  Or, at least, there is substantial evidence of such.  Even more, this enrichment seems to be directly tied to personal immorality of the type practiced in Sodom and Gomorrah, and seems to make plain why these leftist cardinals and other apparatchiks in the Church seek to implode the current moral edifice of the Faith, and replace it with one that is conducive to progressive mores.

There is a long article below, but the implications are damning, both for Rodriguez-Maradiaga, and for Francis, who has apparently sat on this information for over 6 months while deciding how to treat with one of his closest advisers and allies (my emphasis and comments):

When he finished reading the inquiry drafted by the apostolic envoy he himself had sent to Honduras last May, Pope Francis’ hands went up to his skullcap. He had just found out that his friend and main councilor — powerful cardinal Oscar Maradiaga, a staunch supporter of a poor and pauperist Church and coordinator of the Council of Cardinals after he appointed him in 2013 — had received over the years from the Catholic University of Tegucigalpa around 41,600 US dollars a month, with an additional 64,200 dollars bonus in December.Bergoglio had yet to learn that several witnesses, both ecclesiastical and secular, were accusing Maradiaga of investments in some companies in London topping a 1,2 million dollars that later vanished into thin air, or that the Court of Auditors of the small Central American nation was investigating a flow of large sums of money from the Honduran government to the Foundation for Education and Social Communication and to the Suyapa Foundation, both foundations of the local Church and therefore depending on Maradiaga himself.

“The Pope is sad and saddened, but also very determined at discovering the truth,” people of his entourage at Santa Marta, his residency, explain. [Uh huh. Is that why this was not made public for over 6 months, and in fact required investigative journalism (as in, not a Vatican press release) to uncover?  Can you imagine the hue and cry if this had occurred under Benedict, with one of his closest advisers and supporters?] He wants to know every item of the investigation Argentine bishop Jorge Pedro Casaretto conducted in Honduras, on top, of course, of the final destination of the jaw-dropping sums of money obtained by the cardinal. Just in one year, 2015, as shown in an internal university report L’Espresso obtained, the cardinal received almost 600,000 dollars, a sum that according to some sources he collected for a decade in his capacity as “Grand Chancellor” of the university. However, some other rather unpleasant items account for the rest of the sums he received according to Bishop Casaretto’s report. The pope’s trustworthy person put down on paper the serious accusations many witnesses brought forward (the audits totaled around fifty witnesses and included administrative staff of the diocese and of the university, priests, seminarians and the cardinal’s driver and secretary) also against the Auxiliary Bishop of Tegucigalpa, Juan José Pineda, among the most loyal in Maradiaga’s inner circle and de facto his deputy in Central America. [We will learn just how close Rodriguez and Pineda are later on]

After studying the dossier he received directly six months ago, Pope Francis assigned to himself all final decisions to be made. [Because of course he did.  Makes it easier to bury the unpleasant news.  As Rorate has noted, Rodriguez Maradiaga was absolutely key in securing Francis’ election in 2013, and may well have used copious distribution of funds from his leadership of Caritas International to do so – at least, that is the implication, which no one in the media seems interested in investigating]

……..The accusations are many: “Some expenses go to close friends of Pineda, like a Mexican who calls himself ‘Father Erick’, but who never took his vows,” said a missionary. “The real name of the man is Erick Cravioto Fajardo. He lived for years in an apartment adjacent to that of the cardinal at Villa Iris. Pineda, who lived with him under the same roof, recently bought him a downtown apartment and a car. The money, we fear, came from university funds or from the diocese. We denounced this close and unseemly relationship also to the Vatican………[“Close and unseemly.”  I think we can understand just what that means in this disastrous era of sodomitical penetration deep into the bowels of the Church – so to speak. So at least some of this pilfered money is going to the lover and buddy of Maradiaga’s protege and closest supporter, who just happens to live next door to the Cardinal.  But we don’t need any investigation of a “gay mafia” in the Church, right Francis?  Unbelievable.]

The witnesses envoy Casaretto audited talked also about investments to the tune of millions gone catastrophically sour: Maradiaga supposedly transferred large amounts of the diocese’s funds to some financial companies in London, like Leman Wealth Management (whose owner is one Youssry Henien, as the registers of the Company House of England and Wales show). Now part of the money entrusted (and deposited in accounts in German banks) seem to have vanished.

There is more to the story. Casaretto’s report also hints to likely huge flows of money from the media empire the archbishopric set up and Suyapa Foundation, which manages the newspapers and televisions of the diocese, controls. As to Bishop Pineda, local newspapers pinpointed him recently as being the man who orchestrated reckless financial operations and the recipient of public funds (for as much as 1,2 million dollars) allegedly destined to obscure projects aimed at “training of the faithful to the values and understanding laws and social life”. According to the accusers, these expenses were never supported by valid documentation. [Which tends to be the way these guys operate, especially when they need to pay off aggrieved former lovers or the outraged families of violated children.  This would hardly be the first time vast resources intended for the good of souls have been misdirected by unworthy men to enable their corrupt and immoral lifestyles.]

The Vatican is worried also about the Court of Auditors of Honduras’ launching of an accounting probe on the Catholic diocese there between 2012 and 2014. The prosecutors at the Tribunal Superior de Cuentas want to see clear about the lawfulness of the projects for which the government transferred every year tens of millions of lempiras to the Foundation for Education and Social Communication, whose official representative is still Maradiaga. As of the time of writing — so in a letter from the prosecutors L’Espresso obtained — the church did not produce the records on assets and liabilities and expenditure documentations. [Stonewalling from post-Vatican II Church bureaucrats?  Unthinkable!]

Leftism is religion for immoral people.  As Saint Thomas Aquinas and many other great Saints and Fathers of the Church have warned us, heresy, especially from ecclesiastics, is always a cover for personal immorality, almost always involving sins against the 6th and 9th Commandments.  Once a man convinces himself that Church Doctrine is false and his error is truth, that God has lied or the Church radically misunderstood, there is no end to the depths to which he will stoop.  I am not at all surprised that a major progressive Church operator is facing accusations of corruption and immorality – I only sense that there are far, far more such instances of which we are unaware, due to deliberate complicity by a media intent on protecting its co-religionists and ideological allies.

What a catastrophe for souls.  How terribly, terribly sad. Whether AA-1025 be true or not in all its details, I think it unmistakable that communists/leftists did undertake a deliberate program to penetrate the priesthood and fill it with ravening wolves.  I think that effort is dying out, at least in North America, but we shall be stuck with the products of it for decades to come, and with its effects for even longer.

What a fireball nightmare.

Eventually, the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah will become mandatory…… January 9, 2018

Yes, it’s only a tiny fringe now who demand that men (and only men) change their sexual preferences to suit the always increasing demands of the immoral and unhinged Left, but it was only a tiny fringe 15 years ago who thought two people of the same sex should be recognized as “married” under law.  How long before a substantial enough minority of the “right kind of people” believe that men should be denied moral agency and control of their own desires so long as some part of their coalition demands it?

Singer Ginuwine has sparked a heated debate on Twitter after a recent episode of Celebrity Big Brother UK. In the latest episode, Ginuwine seemingly rejected fellow housemate India Willoughby.

The controversy stems from a conversation between Willoughby and the “Pony” singer, in which [he] asked whether he would date a trans woman. “You would date me, yeah,” Willoughby, who is a trans woman herself, asked.

“Not if you were trans,” Ginuwine replied. After Ginuwine replied that he would not date a trans woman, Willoughby attempted to plant a kiss on the singer. When [his] advance was rejected, Willoughby stormed off.

So, in case you didn’t get that, male singer Ginuwine refused to kiss a man pretending to be a woman.  For that, he has been castigated by idiots on Twitter, but I repeat myself.

This is coming.  The fact that men are losing their careers over allegations (just allegations, mind, almost none has been proven) of just this kind of sexual assault is immaterial, apparently – some people not only have sudden claims to “equality,” no matter how deranged their demands are, but they have incredibly powerful rights and privileges over and above those of everyone else, especially over the loathed and feared white male (though this case  happened to not involve one).

This seems to be the latest push of the mentally deranged, very sad and lost “trans” crowd – that if you refuse their pernicious and often out of control sexual advances (which I have personally experienced), you are “transphobic.”  There have been scores of, almost exclusively male-to-female, trans activists make this claim over the past several months.

No matter how much makeup apply, no matter how much you tell yourself otherwise, no matter how much you mutilate your body, you will always, forever, have a Y chromosome and be a MALE.  Accept that fact, and learn to deal with it.

1 in 4 Americans Haven’t Read a Book in a Year, Can’t Name an Author…… December 6, 2017

…….and of those who can name an author, the vast majority of those name Danielle Steele, Stephen King, or some other living, pulp fiction writer. A substantial majority fail to name a single major literary figure.

So, the planned dumbing down of the West’s population, addicting them to the bread and circuses of the elite, continues apace?  There is no way educational systems this bad have not been deliberately contrived, especially after – or perhaps, because of – the trillions of taxpayer dollars pumped into them.  Common core?  Give me a break.  More effective methods were available over a century ago in Catholic National Readers.

Last fall, Pew Research found that 27 percent of Americans had not read a book in the preceding year.

Unfortunately, our friends across the pond aren’t much better in this respect. According to a 2014 survey, roughly 26 percent of adults in Great Britain admitted to not reading and finishing a book for pleasure.

One might be able to dismiss such statistics to busyness or other similar factors. But is it possible that the growing numbers of the non-reading public are instead a sign of the decline of knowledge about books and the canon of literature in general? A March 2017 survey suggests such might be the case. Produced by The Royal Society of Literature, the survey asked nearly 2,000 British adults about their literature reading habits. Similar to the aforementioned 2014 survey, roughly 1 in 4 British adults had not read a piece of literature in the previous six months. [Well I’m not clear what they mean by “literature?” Does reading books about Saints count, or is this only F. Scott Fitzgerald, de Cervantes, and the like?  I think they are speaking very broadly, as in Mickey Spillane would qualify.]

But even more interesting were the responses when researchers asked respondents to name an author of a literary work. As it turns out, 20 percent of respondents were unable to name even one. Of those who were able to name an author, more than half selected a modern, living author, such as J.K. Rowling. [Such pap]

Much of the world in which we live today is laid upon a foundation of knowledge. These ideas can be found in the great literary works of William Shakespeare, Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, and other men and women who are no longer with us. If many in today’s society can’t even name these authors, how can we expect them to participate in the “Great Conversation” of ideas, insights, and knowledge which still have profound effects on us today?

We can’t.  And that would be the point, my dear.  A population so ignorant is one that cannot think for itself, and must be led by the hand by its self-anointed “betters.”  Interestingly, however, in many cases the anointed are among the most ignorant among us, if the media and academia are any indication.  Oh, they know like religious mantras the left-liberal propaganda they’ve been indoctrinated in, but they are wholly ignorant of great sweeps of subjects, from history to geography to philosophy to theology…….you get the point.  The SAT and other deformations to our educational industry have created generations of clever regurgitators and test-takers who are thus marked, like a superior caste, for the college start of the path of elite credentialization that will chart their course to the new aristocracy, but not intelligent people who can think.  In fact, most of these JournoList types are blithering idiots, and prove it constantly.  I still want my chain saw bayonet option for the AK!

Present company excepted, of course, as I ride my high horse off to my ivory tower.

Reason number infinity plus one to homeschool.  One of the innumerable things of which I am proud of my kids, is that they are almost all avid readers.  The “least” of them is quite above average, while some are absolutely voracious and hard to keep stocked with books.  Having learned to read phonetically, they can read much faster than I can, and easily devour 2 or 3 books in a day. Half Price Books loves us.
